Welcome back to the channel 361 fam today. We're gonna go over something that I've been meaning to go over for a while This is kind of a different style of video course recorded on my phone Samsung Galaxy Note 20 anyway Yeah, guys, we're gonna hop on into it. So first of all my sweet and we're gonna get this guy open up Yeah That HD shows you how bad the front paint on the bumper is. All right, let's get this guy pulled out.
Let's go over a few things real quick. Man, the quality of this phone in HD is pretty nice. Oh, copyrights, copyrights, copyrights. Gotta turn those off. Can't have copyrights in my videos.
Alright guys, so today's video is about all the mods, performance wise, that are done here to the Moist RAM, which is my 2017 RAM 1500. If you're new to the channel, this is my 2017 Ram 1500, nicknamed the Moist Ram. It's been on the channel quite a bit. It's actually like the main character of the channel, even though it's not a very big channel, it is the starting character of the channel.
So anyway guys, there's the introduction to the Moist Ram. So let's go over this stuff, okay? So as far as mods go, and the truck's not in the cleanest condition.
Of course, it was used for daily use for a long time, up until... Work got a little bit more steady things got a little bit more better in life and i've been able to actually keep this truck Parked a little bit more often So now I kind of want to work on getting this thing a little bit more Well-rounded cleaned up show worthy, I guess but um, I got i've been asked several times in videos What kind of performance mods do I have done to my truck? And the reason why i'm making this video it's going to be kind of like a filler video for another video I was trying to get out but we're trying to get this truck to the track next week uh i want to get it to the track i want to run it in its current state full weight just as if i was daily excuse me guys just as if i was daily driving it uh with toolbox spare tire um back seat front seat all that good stuff on it on these wheels and tires which are heavy as shit uh i want to get i want to see what my uh quarter mile time is i did go and run in the past and uh we discovered some issues okay the truck ran a 13.2 on nitrous you So for those of y'all that don't know, yes, one of my performance mods is nitrous. Now you can put nitrous on a stock Hemi and be perfectly fine with it.
As long as you're tuned for it or you know what you're doing, do a little bit of homework. You know, consult all the guys in the forums and the groups. You know, that's what a lot of us Mopar guys did. So the bottle is just slapped in there loosely. It's not even hooked up, but it's not going anywhere.
Um, i'll hook it up on track day, but for right now the bottle's filled ready to go for track day now Um, i'm running a wet shot kit on a 125 horsepower jet setup Now it's been kind of leaned out a little bit to get the afrs to run right because i'm watching afrs now Which I wasn't before But yeah, so it's set up for the 125 shot. It's a little bit leaned out. Like I said, there we go That's better. So it's a little bit leaned out that way I can get Um the right afrs to be running nitrous do your homework guys on running nitrous So yes, this truck is on nitrous now before you get all freaked out It is still a stock block stock head stock internal hemogram 1500. There has nothing been done Internally to this truck.
There's nothing been done to the trans or the rear end. I'm at 72 000 miles I've gone through 40 bottles of nitrous and zero problems guys zero problems. So One of the things I do is I run amsoil religiously uh amazol has been treating me right on this one i don't even really have a hemi tick problem but you know there's that okay mods list let's go ahead and get into the mods list now so the first thing i did when i got my truck is put a catch can on it uh even though this is the amazon catch can uh if you go ahead and lubricate the threads on these three components you can see it separates here it separates here and then you also have some threads here for attaching if you go ahead and lubricate those with some necs They work just as well as the high-end ones.
I can verify that because I've had the intake off. So first thing I did was the catch can. Second thing I did was a colder thermostat. Now with colder thermostats, they're not going to work and I'm going to tell you why. They're not going to work without tuning.
Okay, so this truck is tuned by Demon Motorsports. It's Matt Brown at Demon Motorsports. I'll leave a link down below in the comments.
But the truck is tuned for a 165 thermostat to kick the fans on at 185 degrees. Now the reason why you want to to do that is because you don't want this engine running at 165 degrees all the time. It's actually not good to run engines super cold.
A lot of people think that, and yes, you may make more power, but it changes the tolerances. A lot of metals in engines and stuff only work at certain temperatures the way they're intended to work. Once you start changing those temperatures massively, you start changing the tolerances because with heating and cooling, metal expands and contracts.
A lot of people know that, but just throwing that out there for you guys so we're on a 165 thermostat with clutch fan delete now i did the clutch fan delete i didn't add anything to my electric fan fans what we did was matt brown changed in the tuning when that fan comes on so that fan comes on naturally as if it would if it never had a clutched um cooling fan so now a lot of people don't like doing it this way and i understand why completely because i live in south texas and it gets up to 120 degrees out here Um, but that can be done. You can do it. Watch your, um, watch your coolant temps whenever you're driving in town, getting stuck in traffic, getting stuck at red lights. I will say the coolant temps do climb on this one, but only in the summer, only maybe two weeks out of the year.
So, and, um, and also I still have my factory fan. I can pull the intake off and shove it right back in there and be fine. So, you know, but I don't, I don't have to because I watch my coolant temps and Really, they never climb to anything outrageous.
I think the highest I've seen is 204. And that's still below the factory settings. But that's climbing outside of the parameters that we've tuned it for, right? The parameters for the thermostat that we have in it.
Take a deep breath here. Hang on. So the next performance mod, as you can see, we've been walking all around it, is the Veraram cold air intake. I actually like shit out of it. I know a lot of people have complained about the...
Oh yeah, they're kind of flimsy and they move around and stuff like that. Well, they're meant to, just like engine mounts are meant to be flimsy and move around. It's because the engine is moving and this thing is sealing up against the hood. You can see the dirt line from where this thing has been funneling in air through the grill, hitting here, inside here, and it scoops that air up and pinches it between the hood right into the intake.
So it's a forced air intake and you can see where it's sealing. So yes, you're going to get dirt in here. And yes, this is going to flex because your hood is not meant to flex.
So this has to sit up against your hood as your engine's revving, moving around because it's on soft motor mounts. So that's why they provide this with softer plastic to allow it to flex. And that's why it's on a rubber boot to allow it to flex.
That's what that's all about. It's to keep the seal tight, keep the best area you can keep going in there. Keep this thing cleaned religiously. Make sure it's nice and snug. and you won't have any problems i could open it up i don't have time to but i could open it up right now i promise there's no dirt inside there because i religiously make sure that thing's sealed properly um so so far we've gone over the fact that i'm running nitrous we know that uh to do the nitrous i had to step the plugs down to uh two steps colder because i'm doing a 125 shot uh we also want to be safer i'm tuned i got the catch can i got the um Thermostat I got the clutch fan covered next thing I got to cover is the intake the intake looks bone stock for most of us And it is bone stock, but the intake has been ported and this is just recently This was actually put on right before I raced the TRX and I actually hadn't had a tune for it Hadn't got the tune revised at all for that intake so that intakes ported So I'm actually flowing a little bit more air into the cylinder heads It's a stock five uh five seven hemi intakes has been opened up so as far as under the hood that is everything that's been done to this truck um this truck is made on the dyno right at 500 wheel horsepower to the rear tires and for some of y'all are like well the trx video you raced a 700 horsepower truck and kept up with it well yeah because the trx is a rated at 700 to the crank Mind you, these are rated at like 390 to the crank, okay?
But with tuning, you could probably get that 390 to the rear tire. It just depends on the atmosphere, the climates, the conditions. There's a lot of varying factors, and there's a lot of varying factors in drag racing as well.
That's why when you see a truck that has 700 crank rated horsepower versus a truck that has 390 plus, the add-ons and stuff, you see them race and you see them that tight together. Well, that's one gear ratio. Two transmission, three tire ratio versus gear ratio versus curb weight.
I mean, that thing's a four-wheel drive. I think they come factory on 35s, and it's a brick. It's a brick. Now don't get me wrong. It's a fast break and this is a fast.
I don't know what you want to call it poor man's race truck. I don't know. Um, but this thing's quick. So that's basically all I've got done.
I think the only other thing that I haven't covered is I have super high flow, high velocity cats that are very rare to put on these trucks, but I have them, uh, have, you know, dual super high flow cats. And then I have the single exit. Exhaust cutout high flow emission safe exhaust cutout on there Which bypasses the muffler and stuff everything in the back, which is optional because it's electronic.
So We've got that covered. That's all the performance mods as far as performance One thing I did for better traction was I went ahead and went with the Inez Lower control arm relocation kit that helped me a lot off of the line that helped me plant that power to the rear tire And then I also went with some adjustable shocks like I got my hand dirty. I want some adjustable shocks, which are actually Rancho 9900 series, which I'm kind of regretting because they don't have a whole lot of travel. They're made for stock ride height, but I do like these because I can stiffen it up or I can soften it up. And it was a real cheap set I could get my hands on.
But that's it, guys. Performance wise, I literally still have the stock shutters. uh hooked up and installed i'd like to delete those pretty soon i might delete those before we go to the track this last time or this next time but that's it i mean that is it full on full out that is it so we got performance wise i'm gonna go over it one last time before i end this video performance wise this truck held up with a uh 2020 trx Fought its own and actually I believe it's a lot faster. We're going to find out because I'm going to the track next week I'm going to drop one video in between the track video, maybe two videos in between the track video But there is a track video coming up guys.
So keep your eyes peeled for that Um track video is coming up. We're going to have this thing running on nitrous We're going to have it on a street package just like it sits And then i'm going to do my street strip package where I pull a bunch of weight out of it like a lot of guys do Just to see how fast you know see what the quickest time I can get out of it is so But yeah going over it one last time. We're on 125 shot of nitrous cold air intake We clutch fan deleted. We are a colder thermostat.
We got a catch can we still on stack We still on stack boy with them stock manifolds down in there Still on stock manifolds. You can see those actually high velocity cats that I got installed You can see those in between all that dirtiness that high super high velocity cat so we got the high velocity cat mod um The intake manifold actually we'll go with the intake manifold being ported the intake. Um Yeah, the intake box plenum.
No, that's plenum down there. This the damn cold air intake is a cold air intake It's actually scooping all that air in and that is it Really basic mods didn't cost me a whole lot of money This truck makes proven 500 horsepower for this truck to keep up with that TRX being a 700 horsepower crank horsepower truck And you got to think about it too. That's that's what? That's why people with drag racing get so serious is because 700 horsepower doesn't mean jack squat when you can race it with a 500 horsepower truck that weighs less and and and beat it or be better than it um i will say in the trx's defense that thing's still got factory warranty this thing right here if it blows up on me tomorrow it's coming out of pocket uh and the interior is stupid nice on those things there are some really nice trucks don't get me wrong i really like my custom look uh this is me you know this is this is my personality summed up in a rig so anyway guys that's it for today's video just wanted to go over the mods i had a lot of people asking me what all i have done to the moist ram and i never really covered it all so that's it subscribe and share get the comments and notif or i'm sorry get the notifications on leave me a comment down below if you want to hear of any other videos Leave me a comment down below if you want to see any other videos.
I'm planning on doing more videos like this where I just respond to y'all's guys'questions. I hope you enjoyed this video. I hope you enjoyed checking the truck out with me and going over all the mods. I know a lot of y'all have been asking for quite some time what all is done to the truck.
It's still on stock cam, but it's not going to be on stock cam for long, actually. Once we get done with the track stuff, I'm camming the ram, guys. So, anyway.
Also shout out to boosted boys. I'm sweaty as hell. It is hot out here. It's like 90 something degrees But shout out to my guys over at boosted boys man for getting 1 million subs I'm freaking excited to be one of those 1 million subs and i'm also freaking excited to be One of the few that got the support t-shirt Um, if you guys haven't gotten that t-shirt try to get over there and get it They're most likely sold out by now. But anyway guys, that's it for today's video I hope you enjoyed it.
We'll catch you next time. Rep 361 Texas, we're out.
