Understanding the Freaky Font Meme

normaly is out freakiness is in lyrics like is somebody going to match my freak have plagued mainstream meme culture for a long time and for good reason owning up to your own freakiness has suddenly become the done thing with millions of memes referencing the ACT over the last year or so much of this is of course just [ __ ] posting but perhaps it's joined that area of online culture where irony becomes so poisoned that eventually those sharing the memes begin to believe in them we know the freak Bob meme was perhaps one of the biggest iterations of this trend but it goes much further and deeper than that the freaky font isn't a font it's a trick performed with Unicode script specifically math bold script is used to give words and characters that distinctive freaky feel it works so well to make the reader imagine each word is emphasized in a certain manner which gives the meme a more participatory angle as it literally changes the way each letter is perceived it's interesting that it would overlap with the papos font memes popularized by Yo crisp as I suppose both mathscript Bal and peos font text are used on social media by those who wish to express themselves as unique and a bit freaky yet lack the graphic design skills and taste to choose a different font it's a bit like church newsletters being famous for using comic Sands they want a font that's friendly and approachable and despite achieving just that it is often regarded as a laughing stock when people start getting creative for the first time and are yet to cultivate taste they see Papas font and think it's cool and weird as well as math Bal script and so the both of them can be used ironically to signify the freaky memes then of course there's the associations with sexual proclivity that add an extra layer of Goofy here the idea that anything and anyone can be freaky is easily communicated through the use of this bold cursive font and that power to be unique to express oneself as freaky can be exciting for many it's simply been overutilization a normal so it's great fun to use as a bit in short everything has become freaky because the trend reflects a phenomenon many have either experience firsthand by taking part in it or watching others do so until the associated fonts and emojis have become a universally understood language across social media what meme would you guys like me to give a lesson in next let me know in the comments below I remember like And [Laughter] subscribe or else
