Whenever you have an exam, you are so stressed and nervous that you don't know what will happen in the exam tomorrow. They will provide you with a locker and you can keep everything in that locker safely. This way you can attempt your exam.
you can attempt with 100% confidence as soon as you enter the examination hall if you have any doubt that there might be some problem in the headphones it should not be near your nose or your chin it should be at 3 finger distance to your ear your lips. I am going to give you some cheat codes in this video. Hi guys, I am Isha and I teach IELTS and PTE.
We do provide online classes as well as face-to-face classes here in Blacktown, Sydney. But this video is going to be helpful as I am going to provide you some last minute tips and last minute cheat codes that you should actually know before sitting for your PTE exam. You know what, whenever you have an exam, you are so stressed and nervous that you don't know what exam This video will actually help you so that I can break your nervousness and I can provide you some motivation. I am going to give you some cheat codes in this video on how you can attempt your exam with 100% confidence. First of all, you should have your passport in the exam.
Without a passport, they won't allow you to give your exam. Second thing you have to check is that whatever is written in your MyPT account first name and last name are the same details exactly as it is in the passport date of birth should be same otherwise they won't let you sit in the exam again in the exam, any extra elements like notebook, pen, paper, water bottles, watches or heavy jewellery are not allowed so you have to remove all that they will provide you a locker you can keep everything safe. As soon as you enter the examination hall, you will be given a system and they will log you in.
The very first thing that I ask my students to do is to check their headphones. Do you have your headphones properly? properly working, how can you check the headphones? When the audio is playing, you are hearing your voice again and again. If you have any doubt that there may be some problem in the headphones, you just need to raise your hand, call your examiner and strictly tell them that please replace that this system is not right.
If you doubtfully tell them that maybe it is not working, definitely they will say that no, it is fine, you can do it on this only. If you are not sure, say the Minister Bern voice that No, this is not right. Please change the system. They ask you to sit at a new system. That is a much better approach.
Your mic position matters a lot. Your mic should be at three finger distance. It should not be near your nose or your chin.
It should be at three finger distance to your lips. Always check your markers. Your markers should work properly.
If you leave your marker lid open for a couple of seconds, like three four seconds five seconds killabee a good open shorty auto ski babu dry out and it will not work. So remember to check it once that everything is working or not and after using it immediately you have to close the cap. With the first introduction your exam starts. You have to say your name, wherever you are studying, whatever work you are doing or whatever your hobbies are, purpose of giving this exam you can say that.
And it does not have any marks but still I highly recommend that you because your fluency, your pronunciation, your accent, intonation tries to judge the software. If I want to give my personal introduction, I can say Hi, my name is Isha Karanti. I am pursuing Masters of Teaching from Charles Darwin University. I am working as a full-time IELTS and PT trainer. In my free time, I just love to cook some food for myself.
I am giving this exam for immigration purposes. Thank you. Let's start with the speaking module. As soon as your read alouds start, of course, there will be a lot of disturbance.
But you have to keep this thing in mind that you have 100% attention to their test. read alouds will start in your exam, you have to remember that just be confident. If you are feeling a little nervous, say that to yourself that I am the best and I am going to do the best. Once you say this to yourself, just go ahead after that.
There is a need to be scared. I see that some people's hands are shaking, you know, lips are drying up or legs are shaking. Do not worry.
When I gave the exam for the first time, it happened that's so true that happens but once tell yourself that you are the the best and yes you can do it. Second thing is that if your one read aloud let's assume one or two read alouds are not good or even if you fumble half of it then it will not affect your whole exam score. One single question cannot decide the score of your whole exam.
You have to put this thing here. Often when we start exams, it takes a little time to go in that flow. So I'll see that students' first read aloud gets spoiled then slowly slowly slowly they go ahead they get settled down a bit sink a bit Do not worry, let whatever is going on, just be confident Confidence is the key to crack your read alouds to crack your ultimately speaking module. In read aloud question, you have to make sure that you are submitting it immediately.
It should not happen that your answer is finished but still the audio is going on. Immediately click on the button submit and go to the next question. otherwise your background noise will affect your score if you feel that there is a student around you who is screaming loudly you can raise your hand and let the invigilator know if there is a little disturbance you can ignore that but if there is a lot of noise that is going to affect your score as well so you can raise your hand and complain to the invigilator as soon as your recording starts you have to start speaking within the first 3 seconds speak in the first three seconds software automatically goes to the next question if your silence is detected.
In the question of read aloud, you cannot change your accent repeatedly. You have to maintain the same flow. The speed should not go up or down.
You have to read the entire read aloud in the same flow. Apart from this, it should not happen that you are changing your accent repeatedly. I have seen some students who do not know any word, so they try to say it in an accent that maybe the software will not know. This should not happen. example is easy read aloud questions you know two to three lines max if you are unlucky then you can get long ones but usually two to three lines of read alouds are there there are simple easy words in it so I don't think that it should be an issue for you pay attention to the clarity of words speak like this, speak with your mouth open so that the software understands every word you say in repeat sentences, you will get 10 to 12 questions in your exam but often students run after content but remember if you 50% is also heard, how you are going to say 50% in the exam, how good your fluency and pronunciation is, that thing is going to matter.
Say whatever you have heard, say it with 100% confidence, say it in the same flow, say it with the same speed, your voice should not go up and down. I will give you an example of this, I have heard of this before, you do not have to answer in this way, you have to say I have heard of this before. before.
It should be in a flow, there should be no pauses. then the software will give you a very good score. In repeat sentences, you will have short, medium and lengthy.
All three types of sentences will come. Try to cover the short and medium. The lengthy sentence is not practically possible for me to say it all. I listen to 50% of the content and cover 50% by applying something something something.
You don't have to leave any answer blank. If you have not heard anything in the repeat sentences, So in that, say you will hear us in 10s, please repeat this. sentence exactly as you hear it and quickly submit it to the next question. In repeat sentences, you don't need to copy the accent. For example, if he said can you please pass me the textbook on the table, then you don't need to say exactly the same thing.
You can say it in your normal tone, in your normal accent. If he said a word in repeat sentences that you don't understand or you think that his pronunciation is definitely wrong, you will definitely feel uncomfortable. you can skip it or add something filler instead of mispronouncing that word.
Let's move to describe image. Analyze the basic information given in the description in your preparation time. Which is the maximum, minimum or normal image? Which is the main information you are going to talk about? Neither you have to speak fast nor slow in the describe image.
Don't run and don't speak easily. Finish your answer in 30-35 seconds. that is considered as an ideal time.
Look, in describe image, you don't need to cover all the details. Just say according to the amount of important or relevant information or according to the amount you can say in 30-35 seconds. They have already blocked some phrases like you can only say I can see.
Follow a proper structure and according to that whatever maximum, minimum, or equal information is visible in the image, you can say it according to that trend. If you are not understanding anything in describe image, Maybe you forgot your template at that time So, according to your knowledge, say whatever you want to say about it. Don't say anything. That should not happen. Say whatever you understand.
Let's move to the next question. That is Retail Lecture. Strict update is that you will only pick phrases in retail lecture. You don't have to pick keywords. Just in case, nowadays the audio is very short.
You know, the audio is 40 seconds. Try to do minimum 5 phrases. Frisius means 4 to 5 You have noted down the words.
Try to pick 5 phrases and there are usually 5-6 lines in the template and you can fit all of them in it. If you are not picking up so many phrases, then what you can do is, suppose you are picking 3 phrases, then you can repeat them. That is like the last option that I am giving you.
Often, I teach in my classes that you try to pick up 8-10 phrases and students with practice, with guidance, pick up so many phrases. but if not then repeat it keep repeating it. Don't write such handwriting that you are not able to understand your own handwriting. If you had some time before the exam starts, then maybe you have noted down the template of the retail lecture. So, there is a template here and start writing the phrases in front of it.
So that you can fit the answer directly in it. Whatever template you are following in the retail lecture, it should not be repetitive. You can't say the speaker mentioned about, the speaker mentioned about, the speaker mentioned about.
quick proper structure to follow in which words have variation. In speaking, last question, answer short questions. Even if you don't know the answer, relax. If you know, then try to answer in the first 3 seconds.
And if you don't know, then it's okay. Whatever question you have, let's assume the question is given. Which is the organ that is responsible for pumping blood for the whole body? So, its answer is heart. But if you don't know heart, then you can pick up a word from the question and say blood.
Now you will say that he will get zero marks. That's fine. your overall fluency and pronunciation marks will be counted the score in listening will not go you will get the score in speaking answer short questions are usually important for 8 bands so even if you don't understand or don't understand then there is no need to take so much tension or stress in the whole speaking I will tell you again just relax, be confident, do not fumble confidence is the key whatever you are saying, say it with clarity and the sound should not be like fumbling or shivering. Trust me, 90 out of 90 can also come. It's a little bit here and there, it doesn't matter.
I myself make a lot of mistakes in my exam in speaking. Still, I can crack 90 out of 90. Your PT exam does not ask you for 100% perfection. With 90% perfection, you can also bring a very good score in your exam. Let's go to the writing module. In writing, you will have summarized written text.
The easiest question of the whole exam is to relax and attempt in the paper. As soon as the question comes up on the screen, choose your independent sentences from it. After that, type your answer with the linkage of the connector.
You will get 10 minutes, utilize it well. No grammar mistakes, spelling errors, typing errors, spacing errors should happen. To read the proof, first read it forward once. Match it word to word and then read it backward. we make more mistakes than backwards when we read it backward we feel uncomfortable and if we are uncomfortable of course we will realize our mistakes more.
If there is a point or a decimal in any sentence we will not write it. For example, if it is written U.S.A. It is written 8.16 million. So we do not have to take such sentences.
Choose wisely sentences, independent sentences in which important information Important keywords are being repeated in these kinds of sentences. you have to take in summarized written text. It is a very easy question, you can easily take full marks if you do it with relaxation.
In summarized written text, the word limit is 5 to 75 words. I often say that you write around 50 words, there is no need to go so much around 75. 50 to 60 words are relevant, you can take full marks by writing that much in summarized written text. Now let's go to the next question, that is essay. In essay, we will get complete 20 minutes, utilize it properly.
Once the question comes in front of you, you have to read it once. After that, start typing the template. Now, when you have started typing the template, just type the template in the first 10 minutes. When you are typing the template, in your mind, the positive and negative points will automatically start running in your mind.
That can I put positive points in it or negative points. The template is typed in 10 minutes. Many of my students practice it.
You will do it easily. In the next 5 minutes, add the positive points, negative points and keywords in it. and next five minutes we will discover read the book, try to check the spelling and grammar mistakes.
Utilize it efficiently, you don't need to go ahead quickly. Children often ask if they haven't submitted the essay by themselves, will it not be submitted? It is not like that. If it is auto-submitted, you will get the marks for what you have written.
You have to write between 200-300 words. I suggest you don't write more because if you write more, grammar ki galtiya bhi hoon gi around 2 250 words. If you don't have relevance. The content matter could be a job set up topic which again was topics related up content Licknett Abhi up to marks milling a 250 to 60 it should be completely fine proofread Kurt away up me grammar up me spellings who's the rule checker a forward read backward read, look at spacing errors, what should be in capital letters, check all that. Now we will go to reading module.
In reading, reading and writing is not more important than fill in the blanks. Ideally, I suggest my students to I suggest that do not spend more than 2 minutes 2 or maximum 2 and a half minutes on reading and writing fill in the blanks because spending more than that is a sort of blunder or foolishness overall you will get 30 minutes for the whole module to manage your time well if suppose you have a reading and writing fill in the blanks first blank is not clear, it seems a bit confusing so rather than being stuck, don't be agitated on any question that I will do it and move ahead, it doesn't happen like that You can do the blanks below first to give you some context. and then you can go back to the first blank. What I do in my exam is, I quickly solve all the 4 or 5 blanks and give a quick read of a paragraph to see if I am getting any sense of this paragraph when I have fit all the answers in it.
If I find it awkward anywhere, then I try to change that answer. Second thing, try to apply a little grammar. The grammar blanks or collocations blanks we can do that more quickly.
We can do that in 1-1.5 minutes too. but We have to study in an understanding context. Don't panic on any question.
Exam is always set with moderation. If one question is difficult, the next one will be easy. If total 4-5 blanks are coming, 2 will be easy, 2 will be moderate and 1 will be clearly difficult. So don't worry about how difficult the paper is that I won't be able to do it now. And then we don't have to worry about reading multiple choice question multiple.
I always say this in class that you don't have to take B or C. or C, you can choose one of the two and mark that answer. Don't spend much time technically I want to say. After this, let's talk about the reorder paragraph.
It is a little important for 8 pans but it is not that you try to correct all if you have time. If you don't have time, then try to bring one or two out of three. That means two pairs should be correct.
You can try. Don't spend much time. not more than two minutes for sure on reorder paragraph. After this we talk about reading full in the blanks. They are going to play an important role.
Try to question with your understanding. If you don't understand much about that blank, then you can do the next one first. Always go with your first intuition.
Many students tell me that I thought this first and then I applied this. But I changed it and applied it in some other option. This is why it is wrong.
Always go with your first instinct. Do what your mind says is right for the Do not overthink. you can lose your marks. So these were some basic tips for reading. Do not panic, do not overthink.
You can mark the first time you feel like it. And reading multiple choice question multiple and reading multiple choice question single. If you want to skip this or you just want to mark a random answer, then you can do it. You won't get more scoring or more marks from this question. Let's move to the listening module.
In the listening module, the first question will be summarized spoken text. It will give you a score in both listening and writing. Its word limit is 50 to 70 words.
But I highly recommend that you write 65+. It's okay if you write 60 to 63, but 65 plus less than 70 is my recommendation. Use a template that should fulfill all the criteria. Apart from that, your content should be relevant.
Minimum 10 keywords, but if you want to get a good content, a good score, then you can also take 15 to 18 keywords. If you have practiced well, then this much content will be there. If you get a lot of short audio and you don't get that many words, you can repeat the words.
But this is the last option. If you are not sure about any word, if you are not sure about its spelling, then don't write this type of word. Write the same thing about which you are 100% sure. After typing the whole answer, recheck it once in the forward direction and once in the backward direction.
You can try to avoid any type of spacing error, spelling error, grammar errors, typing error. completely to utilize 10 minutes. If it ends early, that's fine. Just keep on staring at your screen.
Keep on looking at your screen. Keep on looking at it because you never know which mistake you have made or which mistake you can make again. In section 2 of listening, you will get the entire section timer which runs for approximately 22 to 28 minutes.
But some students told me that their entire section timer was only 17 minutes. Time management plays an important role here. Let me tell you. multiple choice question multiple You will hear the audio. As soon as you hear the audio, if you are getting your answer that maybe this answer can be answered, mark it.
As soon as the audio is finished, if you are thinking about that question after sitting on that question, or this mark. That is totally wrong approach. That means your time management is not correct.
Quickly you have to go to the next question. After this, the next question that will come in your exam will be listening for in the blanks which plays an important role. Whenever you are listening to this song, note it down in your notebook first.
If your typing speed is not that strong. Note down the order in vertical order. You can put a small dash in front of the missing order. After this, if you are listening to the audio, listen carefully. S, E, S, E, D. You should not make any mistake anywhere.
I have uploaded another video. For listening fill in the blanks, where you can predict the answers. I will put the link in the description. You can watch that video too.
After this, the next question will come. highlight correct correct summary again not that important question if you know the answer while listening to the audio then you can mark your answer otherwise just mark random answer B or C and go to next question next question select missing words again not important beep sound will come in the end as you are listening to the audio if you know the answer don't mark it and just mark any random answer B or C again you can move on After this we will have an important question That is highlight incorrect words In highlight incorrect words You have to keep your cursor with the audio As soon as you find the incorrect word You have to tap on that word Mark the same word about which you are 100% sure Because there is also negative marking in this question You will get 3 to 4 questions Two questions will go at normal speed But one question usually goes fast students would have been confused. you get confused about how fast it has moved on.
You have to keep in mind similar sounding words like crew and brew. After this, you will get the last question in the listing, write from dictation. It is a super important question of the exam which will give you score in both listening and writing. Approximately, 3 to 4 questions will come.
Some students only get 3. Look, whatever write from dictation you are getting, you can definitely add extra words in it. Nowadays, you will get this type of audio to confuse in the audios. I do not like to have this food.
you will think that the sentence is over and you will start noting it down but actually the sentence is not over there they say I do not like to have this food however I am eating it today so in this way the child gets so busy writing the first part that the second part is left so you have to be attentive for that as well you can add extra words in it you can also add filler words if you feel like like the, for, to, has, have, is, am, are, of, by. Like this. words at the end and write them in full stop. You have to be careful about capitalization. If you want a video on capitalization, write it in the comment section and I will give you a proper video in which I will only tell you which words you have to write in capital letters in English.
In the right from dictation, you have to be careful that your first letter should always be capital and in the end, it should be full stop. If you have any confusion about any word like he said increase, increases, increased, increasing, you write all three or four forms. you can write it.
Keep in mind about your time, timer is running so time management of course plays an important role. If there is more confusion about hyphenated words like best seller, you are confused that I have to write best seller together or hyphen together, you can type it in both options. After this, if the number is 20, then you have to write 20 in words.
If anywhere it has short forms, contractions like can't, then you have to write can't only. If there is confusion, then you can write can't and cannot you can write that too. All the best for your exam. All these tips will help you a lot.
Just be confident. One more thing I always say that PT is not just a language test, it is a focus test. Pay attention to your screen. Don't look at what the neighbours are doing, what template did which child use in speaking. Usually we get distracted by hearing the voice of the other person.
Pay attention to your screen. you will give exam with 100% attention and focus on yourself then your exam will be really good. Second thing, if you feel that you could not give your 100% in any question or module, that's fine. It should not happen that my speaking is not good, then because of that, in my writing, reading and listening also, that now what I have to do after doing this, because now my exam will not be done.
You never know when your luck will support you extra. Or you can also say that all the modules in PT are interlinked. You may feel that you did not do well, But the software picked it up very well. pick, there are cases like this.
You have to give 100% efforts in the exam till the end. You never know when the game will change. Just believe in yourself. Confidence is the key. If you forget something or a template, then at that time, whatever hits your mind, tell it or write it down rather than leaving any question empty.
