today on our afro we're taking you to a village right in the heart of the omaha valley where leaves a mysterious tribe known as the bodhi tribe this tribe has an odd ritual they find fat to be very sexy and attractive you heard me right yes that's huge one pack is very sexy and the strength thing about this practice is the body tribe also hosts a contest to decide who is the fattest man on that note let's dive into why fat is sexy among the body tribe of ethiopia [Music] the body also known as the main are a semi-nomadic tribe living in the southern part of ethiopia about 140 kilometers from jin cassidy the body tribe are farmers and livestock is an essential part of their lives life in isolation the body is one of the only few tribes in the world who still use the bata trading system they travel for hours to get to weekly markets where they trade or buy goods preparations for the festival if you and your friends are to get as fat as possible in six months for half a million price what will your plan be drink a lot of beer eat a lot of food and no exercise for six months well the body tries men compete to have the biggest waistline possible [Music] believe it or not every year between june and july they celebrate their new year kyle strange is about the competition body men are naturally overweight but this ritual takes it to another level before the competition each of the 14 clans of the body tribe is expected to produce a male contestant this unmarried men undergo one of the strangest faces i'm talking about six months of extreme fattening their primary source of nutrition are blood and fresh milk do you know what this means for the entire six months this is a common sound everyone makes what makes this challenge seem somewhat unbearable during the six-month race they are not allowed to have sex or leave their hearts oh parcels imagine man with big bellies coming out in all their huge glory these chubby men leave their hearts for the first time since the competition on the day of the kyle ceremony tribal warrior dances are performed the contestants are weighed by the elders after the dance and the flattest winner is determined [Music] the winner of the competition becomes the tribe's hero and he is allowed to marry whomever he wishes [Music] the father of the winner gives 10 cars to his son and 30-36 cows to their bride's family as a dowry when they marry well before we continue i just want to say you are a legend if you have made it to this part of the video so drop a like life after the ceremony the men's lives returned to normal after the ceremony and most of them lose their enormous bellies after a few weeks of eating wisely however the next generation of competitively fat body men will be selected a few weeks later and the cycle will begin all over again everybody kid fantasizes about being a fat man after all he will regain a regular stomach a few weeks after the ceremony but he will be remembered as a hero for the rest of his life conclusion as far as bizarre rituals go they seem to be very rational some african tribes go to extremes in their work such as the maasai tribe which is notorious for female genital mutilation so we said in the whole process of female genital mutilation what is harmful is just a cut so let us do away with the cut and all the other rituals that are performed during circumcision time let us remain with it men battle to attract a lady for marriage while women will jump in the hammer tribe it is uncertain how long this would continue to be a tradition the ethiopian government has plans of resetting about 300 000 people from all over the region do you think this practice needs to stop well share those with us in the comment section below i would love to hear your feedback as usual i'm your host murphy and i'll catch you in the next video peace [Music] [Applause] you
