Overview
This guide explains how to save, export, and share documents in Affinity Designer for iPad, highlighting key export options, file types, and settings for different workflows.
Saving Documents
- To save your work as an AF Design file, tap the arrow to return to the home screen and view your documents.
- Tap document options to choose Save (updates an existing file) or Save As (choose a new storage location).
Exporting Documents
- Exporting converts your document into other file types for use with different applications.
- To export, open the document, tap the document menu, and select Export to open export options.
Raster Export Formats and Settings
- Choose from vector or raster file formats at the top of the export dialog.
- For raster formats (e.g., JPEG), adjust quality presets to control file size and preview changes in real time.
- Modify quality by dragging the value or entering a specific number for precision.
- Resample images by adjusting width and height; unlink to set independent values.
- Experiment with resampling methods like bicubic or Lanczos for sharper results.
- Enable Progressive encoding for web-optimized exports allowing progressive previews.
Vector Export Formats and Settings
- Export as PDF, EPS, or SVG to preserve vector data for scalable graphics and print.
- Set DPI: 300 for print, 72 for digital, 144 for retina or high-DPI displays.
- Unsupported design elements will be rasterized and affected by DPI settings.
- Toggle options such as converting text to curves or flattening transforms for export.
Space-Saving and Compression Options
- For TIFF exports, enable compression to reduce file size without loss, though export time may increase.
Export Methods
- Tapping OK exports directly to iPad, iCloud, or other cloud services.
- Tapping Share opens the iPadOS share menu to send files to other apps or users.
- Use drag-and-drop to move exported files into other apps like Photos, Mail, or Publisher for easy integration.
