you can now add attachments to your AI chats attachments can be PDF documents text based files images which by the way this means that this is a combo release because now we support AI Vision or even your calendar schedule let me walk you through this new feature and share some examples with you and towards the end of this video I'm going to get a little bit vulnerable and ask for your help about something but anyway first things first there are three ways that you can add attachment to your AI chats the first one hit command K and select add attachments and then you'll see a list of all the different types of attachments that you can add now keep in mind that this list is dependent on the model they've got selected so if you're on GPT 40 like me you're going to see all of these options including the vision related ones like capture entire screen but if you're on GPT 3 .5 then you're only going to see the text based ones you can also get to this list by taking a shortcut and pressing command shift a for add attachments or you can just drag and drop your files into the AI chat window and that even works by dragging from raycasts clipboard history or the search screenshots command adding attachments is really straightforward and intuitive but it can really improve the things that you can use AI for if you're one of the people that have been requesting this feature for a while then I'm sure you already have the perfect use case for it but in any case let me share some examples to give you some other ideas the first one is just a convenience let's call it a quality of life Improvement but if you already used clipboard history or search screenshots in raycast which by the way these are two of my most used commands then they are now integrated into AI chat that means that if you're doing some re search you can just go ahead and copy everything that you need in one go and take as many screenshots as you need and then you can put all of that into the AI chat window and then ask the questions that you need to condense your research into something useful this one is my personal favorite I love using AI to help me get some quick insights on these long bureaucratic complicated PDF documents most recent I wanted to check when my car finance would come to an end so I just dragged the contract into the chat and asked the question and that to me is so useful these next two examples are coding related but I think they work really well you can attach a messy CSV file that you need to tidy up for say a data science project and you can ask AI to generate a python or R function that will do that Tiding up for you now the cool thing about it is is that it's going to generate the function based on the shape of that CSV table that you've added before you'd have to open the file copy bits of it and give it a bunch of context just to get a generic function that you then need to tweak to actually make it useful so attachments can make that a lot easier you can also directly attach code files which is really useful when you want to ask a question about a specific project and you need to provide that extra context in this example I'm asking a react assistant to help me with this raycast extension that I wrote ages ago let's say I don't remember much of the code I just know I need a specific function so I can drop all of the files in and I can just ask in the chat to give me the function that I need and it will then use the context I've added to then give me the correct function these are just some of the things you can do with attachments in raycast AI I'm sure you're going to have a lot more use cases for it especially if you've been using AI chat for a while that being said I want to share something with you that came up while making this video when Bruno and I make a video we put a lot of effort in the script and the messaging to make sure that you get the most out of it and often in order to explain certain raycast features we need to come up with real life examples to back them up Sometimes It's tricky to come up with these examples because Rayas can do so much that nobody not even us uses all of it that's why we love having our guests on our what's in my raycast series because then they can share how they use raycast and we and you can always learn something from it it's a I now here's the thing vision is really cool but we just couldn't come up with an example that we were genuinely excited about I mean sure we can add an image to a chat and ask something about it let's say a photo of a plant that you want to know the name of that's pretty cool but I'm curious this is a feature that's been so heavily requested and my question is why what do you want to use it for will this feature maybe be more useful in AI commands I don't know anyway let us know in the comments below and if we get enough tips about it then we can make a dedicated video with your suggestions as always if you're not subscribed to raycast Pro then
