[Music] today I'm going to try to make a duck pond at least a lot of it it's not exactly swimming weather right now it feels like it might rain but that means it's a good day to do a lot of digging [Music] turns out duck pons are pretty expensive we've seen a lot that are this size that are almost €200 iie got this one by knocking on her neighbor's door when she saw that he had a couple of these by the side of his house and he gave it to us for 20 bucks let's talk about the plan I have now researched dozens of ways to build a pond and then I stumbled across this blog by Tyrant Farms how to build a backyard pond with a DIY biofilter together this couple figured out how to build a pond with increasing diversity of local Wildlife salamanders frogs insects decreasing pests like mosquitoes and also using a pretty natural biological filtration system despite having six Ducks who regularly poop everywhere picture the main Pond now picture an energy efficient pump at the bottom of that pond that takes out all the junky water from the Ducks up out and into a second filter pond water will exit at the bottom of this plumbing and naturally rise in the filter pond on its way out it will go through a series of filters these filters will work their way through the junky water from large to small and will also add little biological microbes on them that will eat up and help filter out all the junk when the water reaches the top of the filter Pond it will leave flow down an artfully placed waterfall and return into our main Pond now filtered and much cleaner than it was before and if our pond system is anything like the couples from Tyrant Farms we'll only have to clean out the pump quarterly I'm very hopeful very optimistic so we'll see how it goes but for now I just got to keep on [Music] digging this is going to be our filter pent already some suies in here oops the Ducks are officially very interested in what we're doing are you guys already excited this is going to be such a cool Pond I'm working on making the waterfall right now so I think I might go find the pond liner so that I can cut the little hole in here and have the liner go underneath these rocks I feel like that makes the most sense you look so Majestic my pond looks like a complete and utter disaster right now the rain has turned the entire area into a mud pit but I do have the waterfall done but it has been really hard to film today because it's just been raining so much and I don't want you guys to be wet and Soggy in the rain so hopefully tomorrow is a little clearer we have a really really big day ahead and it is starting to rain so I will see you guys then good morning guys I think we have maybe four or 5 hours today where it is supposedly not going to rain which means today I need to try to beautify our pond I actually went to the store earlier the sun just came out for a second oh I missed the Sun and I got a bunch of Plumbing for the pond I don't know if it's all going to fit properly because the bow Mark Stores here are a little bit different than they are in the United States and so I had to get different fittings than I'm used to that being said the sunshine is making me incredibly optimistic even though I can see the big clouds coming in from the East and hopefully we'll be able to knock this out pretty quickly because I think I also might want to destroy a fireplace today the Ducks are also quite chatty today and I think they are excited to help me you going to help me with the pond it's actually really cold and really windy today so we'll see how long I last before I decide to go demolish a fire pit but our neighbor who's been helping us with the living room with demoing the brick wall actually had a bunch of Pebbles that he was willing to give us to help out with her Pond and I think I'm going to start with that peanut is it peanut approved maybe you guys will get to see Peanut fly all the ducks have been starting to fly a little bit yeah I've been finding so many rain worms and you guys waited until I was almost done digging to come over not [Music] me I think I might try to build some sort of wall and that is because we want to deter our ducks as much as possible from going into the biofilter pond this part really does feel like a big craft which means it's definitely my favorite part so far I've been trying to organize these Stones over here for longer than I care to admit [Music] we actually got these pond plants forever ago and they've been waiting for far too long to go in the water so they're actually looking a little bit rough and I found out that a lot of the water is actually going to be diverted right along here so I hope that this is the perfect place to put them it literally just now occurred to me that I'm getting totally carried away with this Landscaping I'm having so much fun but I need to dry fit the PVC pipe that I picked up today the pump comes in tomorrow so I can test the system then but I want to hide all of the plumbing in the landscaping and now I'm over halfway done so we might have to backtrack a little bit but let's do it okay Plumbing acquired ducks are following me around as per usual I don't even know why I'm bothering closing this the Ducks are outside of the garden anyway it's even a little too long I've only ever worked with regular PVC unsealed where you have to use the PVC primer and the PVC glue and these come with washers and I think that the washer is supposed to be all you need I feel like the Landscaping Artistry part is definitely a little bit easier for me than the plumber engineering part but hopefully everything works out and if not at least these were pretty affordable this is going to be the outflow for the biofilter pond the water will go through the piping from the pump out here and through the bottoms and I'm still waiting to get the mesh bof filter and I'm waiting for the inoculant as well so the final result of this will not be today unfortunately but I'm so excited to finally get this filled up I need scissors we also bought this very very important control switch if you ever turn off your electrical pump all of the water that you have pumped out of your pond with all of the icky solids all of the duck poop will go right back into the pond so this will stop that from happening definitely a little bit windier than I would like today I don't think I'm going to be able to hide the plumbing perfectly I am no plumber I am not even a landscaper but I think this will look good I guess I maybe shouldn't cover it too much though because of leaks and I can't test it without the pump but I understand that my order of operations here is not perfect yeah not quite up to code yet not yet but soon yeah already exploring who's hungry who's hungry yeah yummy come here little pup come here little pup what do you think baby what do you think a little funny that the Ducks are entirely unbothered but this is insane out here here it has started raining big time and I kind of think it's here to stay from the weather report although I never know what to believe but I think I'm going to move inside and I think we're going to try to demolish a fireplace together so the guy who's been helping us with this Archway project is really Savvy with pretty much all things construction and he was taking a look at our fireplace for us to see how easy it would be to demo and actually decided kind of without telling us that he was going to try long story short it's already begun and hopefully now that we've learned how to take down a whole wall this demo will be a little easier probably not less Dusty [Music] though for those of you who are new here or who haven't been around in a while this is not up to code anymore so it's illegal to use it which is a big reason why we're getting rid of it but if I'm being honest we don't really love how Giant it is and we want to get a newer one that is a lot more energy efficient and quite a bit smaller as [Music] well that didn't go quite as well as I had hoped but it works add to our everg growing metal pile someone was supposed to to pick this up weeks ago still don't know what's up with that [Music] actually I think I kind of liked it maybe I should build it back up do you think I did a good job Eliza's here to inspect my work we're going to hold off until I have more help with the rest because it is not a onep person job and I am here alone today unfortunately it is still raining outside so I think I'm just going to go ahead and call it for today and we'll touch base tomorrow and hopefully get that pond finished out and hopefully this removed too this weekend we're actually redoing the floors in here I don't know how much I'm going to be able to include in this week's video because it's already towards the end of the week but we'll find out together that being said I am just so excited to have a living room space [Music] back nare fireplace is officially out I think we're going to try to save these red tiles as a foundation for our future fireplace which we have not picked out yet Ellie wants to put an American fireplace in here but I'm not so sure pretty as new turns out I have not quite learned the metric system when I was converting the pipe sizes that I needed to use for this entire system I just did a Google Search and turns out I'm glad that I didn't dig that plumbing too deep because I now need to take it all out and replace it with smaller ping here is the pump it's a lagona pump it's 105 Watts which actually is a lot better than the one we had previously purchased that was 400 WS so this one's a lot more energy efficient but supposedly very powerful and it's the exact same one that Tyra Farms uses so let's hope it works I don't know why but I'm feeling so nervous maybe it's just because hours and hours and hours and hours of work have gone into this and I'm scared that it might not work I'm going to plug it in oh my gosh it's filling so fast we're going to see if the divot that I cut here is going to be fast enough and the water will just pour out of here or if I need to adjust it so it's actually working pretty well but we do never mind that's bad that is not good I definitely spoke way too soon there's a leak right there I'm not exactly sure why I'll need to check on it and I also need to work on balancing out this pool because it is emptying out from two different directions the waterfall looks great but I don't want water pouring out the back so that might take a little while but I think I'll check back in once it's ready to go [Applause] storm do you want to say that to the people anything else you want to say what do you want to say well it's finished you can see that the water is really Brown and we actually filled it with a well that's already here using the ground water on the property so it'll always be brown but it's a lot cleaner than it would ever have been otherwise I also am still waiting for the most important component of this Pond which otherwise I would have found a way to film the metalla filter pads I will be cutting and installing in our filter Pond are coming literally tomorrow but this video needs to go out right now basically I feel like in a way the story of these ducks has all been leading up to this moment they're coming we were there when these little ducks were eggs we chose [Music] them they used to be small enough that two of them could fit in a little bowl and then we graduated to the bathtub uh [Music] and it's so amazing to say that their Pond is finally [Music] done I think it's been just around 2 minutes since we added dragon in with doy and peanut and it's like they've always been three are you guys doing good morning what do you think how are my little ducks doing our ducks are officially full grown obviously it's not perfect I did a very poor job of hiding the plumbing and I just kind of called it and frankly that is because I had so many pipes burst after that original one that I filmed I've also changed the stones around on the waterfall about a dozen times now trying to redirect the flow of water and thankfully so far I haven't fallen it but the Ducks are happy they don't even want to leave the pond they are just in here all say they have their spot they have their place their little house looks so cute next to it and I'm sure that I'll be adding more to this and hopefully hiding the plumbing even if it's under like I don't know Moss pads or something I need to scch online but I'm so so happy that it's done and that the Ducks are happy and I do think that it turned out pretty cool even if it's going to need some more alterations here in the future as always thank you so much for watching and I will see you in the next next video bye Audie you're so handsome go for a handsome little [Music] man might have been a little too much [Music] [Applause] are you guys [Music] pumped go for here some little man [Music]
