foreign [Music] hey guys it's Jake in this video I'll be showing you how to make a proper Tech pack to send to your manufacturer Tech packs are basically detailed instructions for your manufacturer to follow so they can make your desired garment Tech packs must communicate important information to your manufacturer and can really look like and be formatted however you want as long as it's easily readable and clearly displays all necessary information first I'm going to go over key information your Tech packs must include then a little tip when designing your garment mockups for the tech packs then finally I'll show you one of my tech packs and how I set that up some important information complete mock-up garment you definitely want a visual or example you can show to your menu so they get a better idea about what you want you should never ever ever place an order without some kind of visual example even if it's hand-drawn and looks like ass it's still better than nothing but still try to make a good mock-up fabric type what kind of fabric you want and what grade this is going to be a very thorough explanation by the way there's lots of options the main Fabrics people use for shirts are cotton usually 100 cotton or sometimes there's polyester and or spandex blended into it for hoodies the go-to is cotton fleece or French terry cotton cotton fleece is what you're typically used to Gildan hoodies or cotton fleas and made blank hoodies or cotton fleas Ellie apparel hf09 independent Trading Co hoodies all cotton fleas with maybe some extra stuff in there depending on the blank cotton fleece is thin-ish fuzzy feeling material on interior of fabric if you own a hoodie it's most likely a cotton fleece French terry cotton is a little different interior fabric is like a graded weave with the fibers or sometimes it's raised tufted Loops that's the extent of my descriptive knowledge of French terry I know there's a few versions of it it's not as fuzzy as fleece but people deem it as more luxury it's just different the grade or weight of the fabric is seen as GSM grams per square meter or ounces abbreviated Oz and it's basically the density of the fibers a 400 GSM hoodie in size small and size large will obviously weigh differently on a scale because size large has more fabric but the fabric weight is still the same it's weird I don't fully understand it but it's not a super big deal United States uses ounces rest of world uses GSM the Gildan 18500 hoodie is 8 ounces fairly thin the independent Trading Co ind4000 is 10 ounces so a little thicker and warmer but still won't overheating it Ellie apparel hf09 hoodies and made blank Varsity recess hoodies are 14 ounces pretty heavy and thick this is like the air quote standard high quality people perceive in streetwear also because people use these blanks all the time there are some blink companies that offer like 18 ounce or 21 ounce or 30 ounce Fabrics but most likely the Garment is double layered converting these to GSM roughly because online calculators are weird eight ounces is 271 GSM an example is guilt in 18500 10 ounces is 340 GSM example independent trading code nd4000 12 ounces is 406 GSM example Champion reverse weave hoodie 14 ounces is 474 GSM made blank Varsity recess hoodies and as an extra 17.7 ounces is 600 GSM this needs to be custom made and so on be mindful of what your hoodie is supposed to be where is it meant to be worn you don't want an 8 ounce hoodie for winter purposes nor do you want 14 ounce hoodies for hot climate activities pick your fabric grade based on the hoodie's purpose or just for the sake of having a quality fabric it's up to you fabric treatment acid wash Sun faded Etc let the man you know if you want the Garment to be faded with acid wash Sun faded maybe you want worn in stains these are effects that add just a little bit more personality to your garment if they make sense acid wash and Sun fading make garments look old and withered this effect doesn't belong on every idea measurements if applicable if you want your garment to fit in a very specific way unique to you you'll want to make your own pattern measurements if you don't don't give measurements they'll use their normal or standard cuts and you won't really know how it'll fit until you receive it depending what country your menu is based their standard of sizing could be vastly different because of the population's average sized person Graphics include Graphics that you want on your garment make them yourself or hire someone make sure to send them these graphic files on their own which means just export your graphics individually in a high quality file type like PNG or PDF adornments and Hardware if you want custom Pockets custom zippers custom buttons any extra thing that needs to be custom made just for your project make sure you explain clearly and give mock-ups and drawings if you can size quantities let your menu know how many units you want you can start with just one sample and wait for that to be finished to place the bulk when you place your bulk the usual minimum order quantity is about 30 to 50 plus units depending on the manufacturer pick your sizes usually small to Triple XL or 3XL usually people don't do 4XL and up but it really depends on who your brand is for just know more sizes equals more bulk order spending or less quantity for every other size size large and mediums are the most common so those should be the highest amounts you order then stagger quantities down in both directions a bit you'll learn more over time what sells more and you can make better purchasing decisions in the future with more information interior tag you need your brand name on the interior garments along with sizing up to you if you want printed or sewn on tag tag is more expensive and does look a bit nicer reference pictures if applicable if there's a type of dying method or weird zipper you want or a complex type of distressing you're not quite sure how to explain it accurately include a picture as a visual reference this is also incredibly important and beneficial to you basically any important information you need to tell your manufacturer when placing the order for a sample or bulk production run manufacturers only follow directions make yours make sense and quickly I want to tell you about my siegs Vector mock-up pack and manufacturer list the mock-up pack includes 112 Vector mock-up templates fully customizable in Adobe Illustrator that provided PNG files work in all other design softwares and it's only 28 dollars perfect for designing your next hit clothing collection my manufacturer list includes all of these resources so you can start bringing your ideas to life ASAP both are available on my website let's get back to the video also note that however you design your mock-up it will probably look different than your actual garment in regard to the measurements that actually shape the Garment a good way to remedy this is to turn on the measurement Grid in your design software and design your garment with the correct measurements to scale then that'll be a much better way for your mock-up to match the completed real garment now I'll take you through one of my tech packs I submitted to a manufacturer be mindful that Tech packs can look different some are multi-page PDFs you fill out like a math test and some are one page and have simple check boxes to fill in and then you have mine where it's everything all together split into two zones full garment Zone and graphic Zone you do not have to make your Tech packs this way I actually discourage it but it works for me I actually don't know if this is difficult for my manufacturers to read they haven't told me anything so I think it's fine so I have the completed mock-up with details and instructions throughout I have this wireframe mock-up showing the measurements of the Garment and that's it for this Zone the graphic Zone shows only graphics and their related instructions and measurements and sometimes I'll put custom Pockets or custom Hardware here too if I need to provide more information on how I want it to be made make sure any and all details are written down in your Tech pack if you for example really really want to make sure a certain part of your garment is correct then I would really highlight it and draw a box around it or make it brighter to give the viewers attention if I want my sample to be acid washed and faded and the first sample needs absolutely needs to have that fading then I would make that instruction Stand Out way more and that's pretty much it make sure your Tech packs are detailed and clear thanks for watching like And subscribe if you learned something new check out my Brands and
