Types of Phrases

five types of phrases

3. Adjective Phrase
Definition:
One or more words that provide more information about an adjective.
Examples:
"I am very happy with his work" (Adjective: happy, Modifier: very)
"Cost of the car is way too high" (Adjective: high, Modifier: way too)
4. Adverb Phrase
Definition:
One or more words that provide more information about an adverb.
Examples:
"They ran really fast" (Adverb: fast, Modifier: really)
"He drank the milkshake much quicker" (Adverb: quicker, Modifier: much)
5. Prepositional Phrase
Definition:
One or more words providing information about prepositions (time, location, position, condition).
Examples:
"He is sleeping on the carpet" (Preposition: on, Phrase: on the carpet)
"Always speaks in a loud voice" (Preposition: in, Phrase: in a loud voice)
