    • Humility is recognizing our dependence on God.
  • Choice: Humility is a conscious decision; focus on self less.
  • E.G.O. vs. H.G.O.: Exalt God Only.

Biblical Examples of Pride and Humility

Mordecai and Haman (Book of Esther)

  • Haman's pride led to his downfall.
  • Mordecai exemplified humility and was ultimately honored by God.
    • Haman attempted to kill Mordecai but ended up being punished.

King Uzziah

  • Started well, became proud and entitled.
  • Ultimately faced consequences (leprosy) due to pride.

King Manasseh

  • An example of extreme evil and idolatry.
  • Experienced God’s correction and humbled himself, leading to restoration.

Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-12)

  • Pharisee's pride vs. Tax Collector's humility.
    • The tax collector recognized his sinfulness; humility leads to salvation.
