Blackjack Overview

Objective

  • Have a hand total higher than the dealer's without exceeding 21.
  • Exceeding 21 results in a "bust" and elimination from the game.

Game Start

  • Players (excluding the dealer) place their bets.
  • Initial dealing:
    • Each player receives 1 card face up.
    • The dealer receives 1 card face up and 1 card face down.
    • Players receive a second card face up.

Card Values

  • Cards 2 through 10: Face value.
  • Jacks, Queens, Kings: Worth 10.
  • Aces: Can be counted as 1 or 10 (player's choice).

Winning Conditions

  • If a player's two face-up cards total 21, they win 1.5 times their bet (automatic).

Player Actions

  • Hit: Request another card (say "hit" or motion).
    • No limit on the number of cards drawn until busting.
  • Stay: Stop requesting cards (say "stay" or wave hand).

Dealer's Play

  • Once players are done, the dealer flips their face-down card.
  • Dealer rules:
    • Must hit if total is 16 or under.
    • Must stay if total is 17 or higher.

Outcomes

  • If the dealer busts, remaining players win twice their bet.
  • If the dealer does not bust:
    • Players with higher hands than the dealer win twice their bet.
    • All others lose their initial bet.

End of Round

  • After the round, all players place new bets for the next round.
