technical authors technical writers today face increasing demands to produce more content faster than ever before here is another way that artificial intelligence AI might be able to help in this video we'll look at automated AI agents that can work together in Chains to complete tasks so how does it work they work by them working out the tasks required to complete a goal and then working through each of those tasks you can set up a sequence of AI agents each with a different capability and then have them pass information between themselves to accomplish the goal for example One agent might take your ideas and turn them into an outline and the next agent could then take that outline and expand it into a draft promise is that this saves technical writers massive amounts of time instead of having to do all of the steps manually the automated agents do them for you and they can in most cases do it faster this could save technical writers having to grind through routine tasks and help them avoid missing out one of the steps in a process now you might have noticed that I said might could and promise that's because there are some limitations to their capabilities at the moment and if you already have an automated or semi-automated workflow that does the job saying GitHub or using zapier then you're probably at the moment best sticking with that so what are the limitations generative AI systems have limitations as to how much they can remember from previous actions and conversations and this makes long and complex chains difficult to complete to the end and the process isn't instant depending on the approach used it might ask for user input confirming the next step and the process could take an hour to complete that's still of course a huge saving in time and remember generative AI is good at producing something that's a first draft it's not going to be fully hands-free the end result is that you get more content produced AI automation handles through predative busy work so your team can focus on the work only humans can do with the caveats in mind chaining automatic AI agents let's technical writers save time increase output and add more value it's an innovation that can take productivity to the next level and this is something that we cover in our e-learning course on using generative AI in technical writing
