• Upper End
  • Contains Iliac Crest
• Lower End
  • Fuses with Ischium and pubis at the acetabulum

Iliac Crest Details:

• Divided into 4 Parts
  • Anterior End -> Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
  • Ventral Segment (Long, > ⅔ of entire crest)
  • Dorsal Segment (Short, < ⅓ of entire crest)
  • Posterior End -> Posterior Superior Iliac Spine (PSIS)

1. Anterior Border

• From ASIS to Acetabulum

2. Posterior Border

• Posterior Superior Iliac Spine

• Greater Sciatic Notch

3. Medial Border

• Iliopubic eminence (junction of ilium and pubis)

1. Gluteal Surface

• Divided into 4 areas by 3 Gluteal Lines
  • Posterior Gluteal Line
  • Anterior Gluteal Line
  • Inferior Gluteal Line

2. Iliac Surface

• Attachments for Iliacus muscle

3. Sacro-Pelvic Surface

• Divided into 3 parts
  • Auricular Surface
  • Iliac Tuberosity
  • Pelvic Surface (Contains Pre-auricular Sulcus)
