hey boss um I just had a tragedy in my family and I need to travel to New York for the [Music] funeral oh no I'm sorry to hear that um I don't know if we're approving travel right now especially out of state so I'll get back to you well I'm respectfully I'm not really asking if it's going to be approved I'm just letting you know that um that I I'll be gone because I have a funeral to attend oh um well you'll have to quarantine for two weeks when you get back unpaid I understand that I have to quarantine um two weeks is a long time to go unpaid is there any way that I can do some work from home like I know you guys have been giving out laptops for people to work from home is there any way that I can actually work from home so I can get paid those two weeks no there's really nothing I can let you do from home I can't approve that so even though 60% of our staff is working from home I'm not allowed to work from home 80% of my job is is on the computer I'm going to be out anyway so the physical part of my job is not going to get done regardless thank you for understanding okay well I'm heading out tomorrow so I'll be back in two weeks hey Veronica how are you today I'm good good good I have a quick question um we need some documents translated and you're really the only person that can do that um I was able to get some overtime approved you will have to take take the laptop home and do it from home okay uh so we'll get that to you today um and we just need them as soon as possible it's something very important no I'm not going to be doing that what do you mean what do you mean no I mean exactly what I said I'm not I won't be translating anything for you from [Music] home I I won't be doing that you're not really showing that you're part of this family this is a work family and you're not really being an active participant we need you to do this for us where was that work family energy last year when I had the tragedy in my family and you told me that working from home was not an approved process for me how is it an approved process now I'm highly disappointed that this is the way you're handling this I don't understand why you're not being a a a team player which is what we need right now this is very important okay the disappointment is mutual when I came to you and I needed you to be there for me the team my family wasn't there I needed to go be there for my real family the ones that are actually there for me and you told me to go kick rocks so I don't understand why this is becoming such a big deal right now because I'm not going to do it like no matter what you say you can ask me to leave but I'm not going to do this no matter what you can pay me a million dollars an hour and I would not do this for you and you can test me to see if I'm kidding hey they said you wanted to see me yes come on in please are you happy here [Music] Veronica am I happy here um I mean I'm here to get a paycheck I guess I know that's not a popular answer but that's the truth when you first started here um you you know you seemed happy you seemed to like it um I mean I know I was happy when I first started uh I really like the environment I enjoyed my co-workers I've made some really good friends here but um I'm just not I'm not in tune with the culture anymore because I came to you guys in a time of need and you guys showed me that this really is just a job not a family I feel like this was a chance for you to be the bigger person I feel like um you know you you really had a chance here to demonstrate you know those those skills of being the bigger person I had the chance to be the bigger person I don't mean to laugh I know that's a little disrespectful um I'm not the bigger person I'm not I I like to match energy and I like to give what's given to me um so and I and I I still don't understand why this is such a big deal because you were asking me to do something on my own time like outside of work hours and that's not something that's required of me so I don't know why this is even still a topic of conversation this is my third meeting now about this same topic tell me honestly um how do you think you look right now how do you think you look to us to leadership honestly tell me how do I think I look to you I mean if I can be 100% honest I'm not worried about that that's that's not important to me I don't care how I look to you you should care about how you look to me and your other employees by turning your back on an employee when they needed you you guys make exceptions all the time time for the people you want to make exceptions for okay because the same way you're asking me to do work from home now is the same way you could have let me do work from home a year ago but it wasn't beneficial to you back then what you have to understand is that we have to make decisions based on the needs of the company mhm based on the needs of the company yeah I know you needing me to do that wasn't based on my personal needs I don't need to dedicate any time to you even if it's overtime outside of this building you're welcome to pull me out of my regular duties between 900 and 5 and tell me hey we need you to translate this but outside during my personal time that's not I I don't have to dedicate that time to you no matter how badly you need something because what I needed a year ago was to not go for 2 weeks without pay that's a lot of money and you're sitting there making 150 200,000 a year I don't make that I don't make that at all okay so 2 weeks without pay is detrimental Thank God I'm a smart girl and I have savings and I've set myself up for emergency situations but not everybody's like that and if you did that to me I know you'll do it to somebody else and just like I'm about to get up and walk out and never walk back in I hope everybody else that you've treated this way does the same thing I feel like you took this time as like a ha gotcha you know like a like a kind of like retaliation you know like getting back at us for something I I just I'd like to understand more of that this wasn't a gotcha moment this wasn't an aha moment this wasn't retaliation I just don't want to do it I just don't want to do it even if it wasn't because of the reason that it actually is if I don't want to do something on my personal time I don't have to do it and that's what I don't think you're understanding not to mention the retaliation came from your end because I was first denied the fact that I could go up to New York for the funeral and I said okay I'll just go and not show back up like I can quit that's that's I'm in the position that if something's not working for me in a job I can go okay and you guys took that as like a oh she thinks she could do this so now that she needs us we're not going to do it so the retaliation came from your side so don't try to Gaslight me into believing that I did something wrong this was all you you put yourself in this position because before this moment you know that I was willing to do whatever I had to do to help this company succeed not anymore you lost that part of a good employee I'm so sorry for you hey boss thank you for taking the time out to meet with me um I just needed to run something by you and see what your thoughts were so um I know it's really none of your concern and and I understand if you can't do anything about it but um my rent went up significantly and um I was forced to get a second job and that job is on weekends but I also need to work Mondays there so um I know in the past people in my department have done four days a week 10 hour days to make up the 40 hours and I was just kind of hoping that you could allow me to do that so that I could take that other job so that I'm not homeless in a couple months wow I am so sorry that's happening to you I don't see it being a problem as long as there's coverage which you have a counterpart so um you know why don't we just do it to where both of you work for 10hour days uh she can work Monday through Thursday and then you'll work Tuesday through Friday I hope that works for you and again I'm I'm sorry that that's happening to you working two jobs is not fun oh thank you so much I appreciate it so much you don't understand I know that you know you didn't really have to do it but thank you I I really really appreciate it you know I take care of my mom and I'm the only one working and I'll be working s days a week so uh you made it possible thank you so much you needed to see me yes um for some reason uh you were approved to work for 10hour days a week uh I just wanted to remind you that next week is a holiday on Wednesday so I'm going to need you to adjust your schedule to come in every day next week except for Wednesday I mean this with all the respect in my heart but your boss's boss's boss approved for me to be off on Mondays because I have another job I get that but I mean if you want to be that person and go running to her and let her know that I'm giving you this order uh you can do that but I I'm going to need you to be here next week the other half of my department isn't having to adjust their schedule on holiday weeks is there a reason that I'm having to do it well the other half of your department they're working really hard did you just say it's because they're working hard don't take it personal I I need you to adjust your schedule next week I just need you to come in every day next week I get you have another job but your other job really has nothing to do with me I won't be here on Monday I'll submit a PTO request and if it's denied then I'll go to HR because then it's personal so much for joining this committee essentially this is where you can address any concerns you've brought up to your superiors and nothing's really happened I'm not saying that it fell through the cracks but sometimes we get busy and we just want to follow up on those concerns so feel free to voice any concerns that you have and we will follow up with upper management and Leadership also keep in mind any concerns that you bring up here are Anonymous so there will be no retaliation in case you uh bring something up of a sensitive nature I I have something to bring up yes of course Veronica thank you um it's actually a couple things and I have brought this up to my management and um you know sometimes like you said they get busy so I just want I would like for it to be followed up on um I've brought up some safety concerns regarding the vehicle that we drive and I've also brought up uh the fact that we deal with uh potentially lifethreatening um items and our compensation doesn't reflect that liability and I really haven't heard anything back about that also we would like an escort my department is all women and I'm not saying we can't defend ourselves but we really don't have the opportunity or the ability to defend ourselves so it'd be great if we could have an escort when we have to drive off site that is something that I have also brought up and we really haven't heard anything back these are all great concerns Veronica we'll get back to you just um give us a couple days and let us figure out what's going on and then we'll get back to you with an update you needed to see me come on in Veronica have a seat please um you know everyone from our management team um we're here to discuss some concerns that you brought up recently you mean the concerns that I brought up anonymously while some people in that meeting were a little worried um that you were I guess trying to make us look bad regardless I've brought these concerns to you multiple times it's not like that was the first time I ever said anything I think the biggest issue is that you've never brought any of these concerns to our attention I haven't I thought you might say that uh February 12th of last year hey the car has a flat again I'm getting really afraid to drive this car on the highway every week it really needs to be replaced your response was I have a headache today is not a good day to discuss a no March 8th hey did you ever get any information on the compensation review because this really isn't working out the amount of liability we come into contact every day is actually a little concerning and your response was I have not we'll have to review those messages um you know for for essentially we'd have to validate them you know I'm not saying you're not being truthful but you know we we need to validate those text messages I mean I get that for liability purposes you can admit to knowing that we are driving an unsafe vehicle and um just for General shitty management purposes you can admit to the fact that I've been asking for a compensation review for months and you've been ignoring me so I get why you're pretending in front of all these people um but I've brought it up and I have more text messes mesages if you need to see them this meeting is over you can go back to your desk now I'll let you know if we need anything else from you you wanted to see me yeah come on in have a seat what's this I hear about you putting your two week notice in yeah it's time I I had to submit my two weeks um I'm going to finish up some projects that I'm working on and then and then it's time to move on what you know if you don't mind me asking what's your reasoning for leaving you know just growth opportunities and all that um there's really nowhere for me to go here there's really no advancement opportunity here be honest with me Veronica I know you're holding something back I am being honest you want to tell me the truth or I mean if you got time we got time if you got time I got time to tell you have a seat we have time well I mean basically you know everything that happened after my cousin passed away um I was treated horribly they they really made my life hell they were not willing to work with me and assist me and I know that they're not required to but um you know they want to instill this culture of family and work family and we have each other's back when it's needed but when it's actually needed that work family was nowhere to be found and then you know they want to ask me for a favor and I said no and I got called into four meetings and I got you know basically tried to they tried to guiltrip me into feeling bad about it they tried to make me feel like a horrible employee they tried to um Gaslight me into believe me that I did something wrong but there was just a lot going on and I just I couldn't take it anymore even after you approved me to have my day off on Mondays they also tried to get me to come in on Monday During certain weeks and it was just it's a lot Veronica what concerns me is that you know my door's always open you could have come up here anytime you had an issue for what I would have been knocking at your door every five minutes at there's a certain point that you just decide okay this is just not for me anymore and you have to move on I would have loved to be able to come up here and tell you every 5 minutes hey this is what's going on um but number one you're not going to be here forever so that retaliation would have been on me and then not only that there's like micro retaliations where they can make my life hell without without it being big enough for me to file a formal complaint so it just they knew exactly what they were doing but but it's time for me to go and I actually feel sorry for you because you're the head honcho right you have people under you that you're supposed to trust to take care of your employees and when those people are not doing it that's why you're losing so many good employees I mean if you've ever taken a notice of the turnaround that you have even in my department Alone um that should be an indicator there's something going on people don't leave because of money most of the time people leave because of bad management and people have been dropping left and right from here and they're getting other jobs where they're being appreciated and valued way more than here and people need to be held accountable but if I don't know what's going on then I can't I can't do that part of my job if I don't know what's happening and it shouldn't be my job to run and and tattletail saying that my supervisor is not doing their job it's I mean that's why there's so many people so many hands in the in the pot having to like hold each other accountable and make sure that they're that their peers and their counterparts are doing what they're supposed to be doing I shouldn't have to be the I don't get paid enough for that I shouldn't have to be the one saying hey this person's really not doing what they're supposed to I know that it helps when employees come and complain but do you guys really ever do anything about it probably not in my experience nothing has ever been done about it well I get it um I'm sorry that you experienced that I'm sorry that there's not more we could have done to keep you you're a great team player you're you're hard worker I mean I I love having you as part of a company uh you know the doors always open if you need to come back you know if you ever want to come back we are here I will I will accept you back because you are a very very hard worker I'd rather die but thank you
