Galatians Zoom March 5

is Paul in hey Daryl hey Daryl how you feeling oh I'm feeling pretty good that's good I'm sorry I didn't get a card in the mail I thought about you though that is fine hey it's just it's good enough to be thought about and thank you so much uh yeah I've been out to a couple of things I went to the uh I went to the Wednesday night devotional last week and I was at the black history thing and I've been to a few 5: PM worship services so well that's good you feel like the surgery was successful I do I have other things though that are going on um but my uh therapy seems to be kicking in a little bit I'm I'm getting a little better about getting around walking around things like that so you know just taking it one day at a time that's all we can do all [Music] everybody hey John hello no not much would you uh mind doing the prayer huh would you mind doing the prayer this evening oh I don't mind John matter of fact I've got a I've got a request anyway so e have we ever done a character study on Abraham I don't know I don't think so that's a good question stud as in a lesson we usually studied books of the Bible or topical study that's something we might want to look at in the f fure uh you know John I think that's timely because I'm going to tell you why I have been reading this book by Isabelle workers I don't know if you've heard of Isabelle workers uh she's written this book called cast CA St the origins of our discontent and basically she talks about you know the the three most well the three developed countries of this world in the world that have have a cast system in place she um she sees correlations between the cast that was used in India or Millennium and the cast that's been used on us and our our people who we descended from when we were brought here enslaved and she sees it as a cast system now the reason why I say Abraham is somebody to study is because part of the problem that a lot of people who have been oppressors they like to use the Bible as a basis behind why they can justify certain people to be oppressed you know it's the whole thing about the curse of ham Canan his son we're supposed to be descended from Canaan that kind of thing uh Abraham went into Canaan and of course God made a promise to him you and so I think it would be good to be able to study that because we well if if you want to suggest it and if leadership wants to do it uh I wouldn't mind talk to Avery about it talk you know work work with Avery okay you know he's the education director he's the he's the man all right work with him put together a proposal with him and see you know now when you say a car character study what do you mean I mean look at Abraham take a deep dive looking at Abraham uh look at everything that he went through everything he he did because you know you reviewing for this uh lesson I don't know if people really appreciate the the fullness of of Abraham because Abraham was actually a foreshadow of David and he's actually a foreshadow of of the church as a whole because Abraham he was an imperfect man he had fears he had concerns he had some things he did were were selfish some things he did took undeniable Faith to actually carry out uh however looking at him and looking at everything he did and then comparing that to the other character other primary characters in The Bible there is a pattern and also there is a a lot to be examined uh was in one of the gospels uh was it in Matthew where the writer traced Jesus's lineage back to Abraham yeah yeah and so there's a you know I think the the gospel writer was probably addressing um a lot of the children of Israel who who had converted to Christianity or were going to or whatever so he traced it back to Abraham yeah uh yeah I mean yeah like talk with Avery about that and see what you can put together that uh you know I was just just just thinking about it because uh you know I don't know if if everybody looks at it that way but God always chose the imperfect I mean he he chose regular normal folks that were going through stuff to carry out his uh his will and uh you know it's kind of a a foreshadow if you will of of of of what we who we are in him in the church is just because of who these men when he specifically chose he specifically picked out they all you know like I said they all went through things they all had issues and they all went through things and they had their ups they had their downs and God knowing them before he chose them speaks volumes it speaks volumes uh especially when because uh so many of us I guess for lack of a better way of explain it we live Bel beneath our privileges as Christians because of the fact that we think of how we look at ourselves and how we look at each other when if we look at the the people that God used throughout the Bible I think and it really really took a good solid look at them we may have a different perspective of ourselves and and of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ as well uh I I just think you know if we really really took a a hard look at and who God chose to be the messengers the key m messes uh throughout the scripture I think that uh I think it it it Bears some you know we we should mightly take a look at it well you know we're we're under God's grace now for a reason because we need Grace we are imperfect people and so to your point he probably identified imperfect people all through the scriptures as a lesson for all of us yeah so you know that's my my thoughts I think Sherelle had a comment now if you want to go ahead and get started with class you know we and I think sherel had a question yes I just I just want to say good evening everyone first of all but yes God chosen perfect people because he knew that we was going to be imperfect and he gave us an example of some of the characters in The Bible for us to pattern after is what I feel uh the reason he chose them perfect people so yeah I just wanted to comment on that okay uh let's go ahead uh let's go ahead and start getting our list together I don't want up too too much about time talking about that but uh uh let's go ahead and start getting other this together who we us through this lesson that what we learn father will be most pleasing and acceptable to you and dear Lord these many blessings and favors we ask it all in Jesus the Christ's name amen amen all right uh got a thing here to start AI I'm not sure how to do that never used to oh okay I guess it okay all right so um all right so we are in chapter three uh we had just began uh chapter 3 on on on our last meeting um and uh when we start to look at the uh the chapter just keep in mind a couple things um uh because chapter 3 is actually a kind of a a combination if you will and and also it also digs into one of the Crux issues chapter 3 and four are going to deal with a Crux issue we have that is justification by faith justification by faith and why it's such a big issue why Paul spent so much time on justification by faith and why there were questions anybody have any thoughts on it right up front thinking about the the Jewish tradition and thinking about the situation that was going on and the people he was speaking to what are your thoughts about the whole idea of of Paul PA's argument here when he was talking about justification by faith any thoughts of top of you here I mean look at it it's just so much there it's so much there that uh uh was going on I mean it's so much in this passage and so much in the in the uh entire argument if you will uh when we start to look at justification by faith because the fact that the Jews had so many burdens so many things that they had some rightfully and some misinterpretations of what God expected of them uh that they had been carried out carrying out in order to seek justification before God and now comes this new thing where believing and obedience are the things that God that is being preached that God is looking for after they have uh looked at all these physical acts all these fleshly things all these things of this world that they've done over time to to find themselves or to feel that they were in God's grace um so the argument that of justification solely by faith is something that took them back if you will took them back just a step or two uh because of the fact that they were literally shedding all these burdens all these issues all these problems all these things that they had held on to for so long for so long that uh it probably felt a little lack of a better word unnatural to them to shed uh shed all these burdens shed all these things and believe holy and Trust holy in God without doing anything to specifically again for lack of a better way of explaining it deserve it uh the thing is is this is new to the Jewish people this is new to those people because a free gift from God uh understand the um all the religions all these other types of religions around the world have had offerings they've had sacrifices they've had duties they've had all types of things that they had to do in order to feel close or to gain the favor of their quote unquote gods and here we come the Christians God giv a free gift a free gift of Salvation a free gift uh of justification that comes along with that through faith through belief in him and trust in him and trust in him alone I mean this is a it's a big deal it's a big thing for people to to grasp any thoughts at all I don't know if I'm I'm out in left field or not but I was thinking when you first asked the question question that the Jewish people had been like privileged children they they were God's chosen people so they didn't have to do anything but just exist and be God's chosen people because everything was going to be great and wonderful for them when the Gentiles came into the fold that presented tremendous problems to the Jews because now I'm not so speci and like from the time they were engrafted they spent time trying to find ways to further oppress them and that became their focus and when Paul's teaching hey you know you're not all that in a bag of chips you're you're still accept it if you do God's will just like the Gentiles and that's a hard concept to accept I'm not special no more so that that was what I thought about when you first asked the question that is not out in left field at all matter of fact you're dead on it um a lot of things you just said you know I mean we looking at this and being accepted and understand that's just not then that's also some of the belief systems we have now in in those areas where uh they were they were at the time or or believed at the time that they were God's people and nothing they had to do they they were there you know God was with them and that's how they believed it period and then all of a sudden like you said the Gentiles come in he's he's bringing these folks in uh you know and like you said now now they don't feels so chosen you know so uh so special not they're not on that high horse anymore they start to recognize that God is God and start to recognize that God can as he has already told them have mercy on who he will have mercy uh he's already said in his word matter of fact everything he said he's already said it he's already exercised it however they didn't recognize it they didn't recognize the will and the way of God had been that way all along especially when we start to get into the message that we have in Galatians 3 and 4 God is expressing through Paul is expressing that fact that he has always been this way Abraham was the father of the faithful for a reason there was no law right Abraham followed the law the law didn't exist right exactly that time so he was following by faith and God honored by faith uh Cain and Abel God accepted the faithful offering the the righteous offering uh and he rejected that which was not so favorite and not so righteous uh how did they act how did they offer what did they do in Cain and Abel's situation one offered in faith one offered honoring God one offered honoring you know everything that God has done the other offered out of a duty to offer you know uh we start to think about that that's just exactly what keeps repeating itself throughout the Old Testament when the Jewish people acted in faith God honored them God lifted them up when the Jewish people L Le totally on God and acknowledged God that's when they came back to him and that's when God lifted them up when they started to think about themselves and started to think they had the power in themselves or they were special that's when he fell into sin they walked away from God's ordinances and that's when they lost what they had so no not off and left field at all right on it right on it not just then but also now uh when we start to look at things any other thoughts yeah go ahead brother I think that the gal are struggling with the same thing we're struggling with today they're moving from what they believe their religion was a matter of works as priority to now Faith is going to become the priority and works are the byproduct of Faith so they're secondary to uh the belief system um which is necessary for uh for a spiritual reality to start taking place in God's people instead of a physical reality alone and uh we can talk about them but we struggle with the same thing still even today we want to be judged by our works and uh if we think about it and not So Much by our faith by what we believe but I I think their struggle is is similar to ours which is what makes Galatians such a important book for us is that um you know works we can't earn our Salvation right we we it's it's a matter of what we believe and our works are the byproduct of what we believe and so we struggle with that today that priority of the two and uh for them it was an introduction so they literally had to make that transition from the law to justification and uh perhaps they have a better excuse than we do uh CU we this this is all we've known they they knew something different so that's just my observation I I like to uh point and I want to I want to come back to it just a moment that you made that works are a byproduct of Faith works as a byproduct of faith I everybody kind of put that in your mind for a moment and TR of think about that statement I I want to discuss that right after we uh hear from Brother Daryl here well to brother Barry's uh comment so is that the same thing that that James is saying about Fates without works is De is that the same thing or is that is that another way of saying that if not what is James saying uh I don't want to take us too far out out where we are but I'm I'm a little curious about that just kind of directing at brother Barry that that that's yeah if you wanted me to respond a lot of people believe that there's tension between Paul's writings and James writing I totally disagree with that I think James and Paul uh are synonymous they're just saying it in different ways as you're saying so if you don't have the proper byproducts and other words if if I were to cut uh a 2x4 of lumber of wood as I'm cutting that wood let's say it's Pine the byproduct of that cutting that I see falling on the floor is going to be the the dust that comes from that Pine right when I cut the wood cherries don't fall down so the the sawdust the pine sawdust is a byproduct of cutting the pine wood well so if you don't see the byproduct then the thing that you're doing you know doesn't exist and that's what James is saying so he's not saying that works are ultimately more important he's saying what what Paul is saying that that the works are the evidence of your faith because we love God we do certain things the doing of them isn't what drives us it's the love of God that drives us and the doing is the byproduct of that love that we have for God I show up for the assembly on Sunday because I love God and I want to know more of his word and so the the love of God and wanting to know more about his word is what drives me to assemble so but other people will put their assembly ahead of their faith they would say God reward me because I assembl assembled instead of saying God I I want to be with you in he I love you and that's what we want rewarded we want our love for God to be rewarded that's how that's the transition that now takes place in our new testament Christianity any other thoughts on that when we think about that brother brother U pinking to is this I mean I remember when we started out Galan was it he started this whole conversation with them this letter rather because they had they was turning aside from what they had believed when he was there with them where he had taught and they had accepted it and now you have some people that has come in I think I'm trying to remember from the book of Acts they come in and kind of stirring up these people with false false information false prophet because I'm looking at verse chapter 3 verse verse four and he says that you suffer so much for nothing uh because they had accepted it right they had accepted they had turned away from it but with I guess with him being absent these people I think we had mentioned something earlier about were there any Elders there and I think brother mesy said I think the elders have been chosen but it seems like these people have just been confused by someone else coming in after they had already accepted it so to me it's not so much that it's it's not like they never believed it and he says did you suffer so much same seems as if they were ostracized or something had happened to them it's just like I think about a lot sometimes when new people come from other come from denominations they come into the church a lot of time they are by family or by friends who criticize them and sometime people can get you know they can I guess get weak for a while and maybe and fall back this is I'm feeling like they have gotten weak and he's just trying to con convince these people that they were on the right track you've gotten off it you suffer for something in order to be able to receive the spirit and all of this and now you going back and he's saying so you have lost you would have lost it would have been no reason for you suffering why why would go through that and now you going to turn back to this he's just trying to reason with the people um it's what it looks like to me if I can make a suggestion just to to think about Paul laid out in the first couple of chapters exactly what you're were pointing out how they so quickly fell away and and and were deceived by those things that you know that were being presented to them after believing and after uh being uh strong if you will in your faith if I could make a suggestion that Paul going into this now he might be looking for the root cause of what actually caused them to be deceived or or be subject to deception could it be the possibility they didn't understand gift of God did they have a full grasp of what God was had had done for them they didn't have a full grasp of this transition away from that fleshly uh activity to the grace and the spirit of god um could that have not been missed to a point where when something else was presented to them it kind of they were they fa for that deception is is it possible that that could be um uh something that was happening here as well as as was pointed out by by Brother bar and and uh brother brother darl here uh they are dealing with that transition just like many of us deal with trans positions now and with different things that we deal with and different things that we that affect us in in in many different ways so the thing is they they are in the mix they're in the trenches if you will of this transition however when we look at it is Paul presenting the possibility that something you know that that they need a greater understanding how to connect this to understand that while we're in I'm even using the words transitioning is is it a transition or is it a revelation a greater revelation of God's will that's actually taking place uh like I said God has always said these things God has always acted in this manner God has always been this way towards his people so is this a further Revelation a a further unveiling or or God's grace being revealed even in a greater manner this is something that you know that we we can look at different angles we can look at this as well but let's dig into it let's dig because we actually got into uh we got to verse four on last time if I remember correctly when uh where they talked we talked about the idea of them suffering so many things going through so many things uh you know and and when they became Christians when they first believed yet they're willing to walk away from because of the things that they are they're hearing and the things that are being presented to them and in verse five here he said therefore he who supplies the spirit to you and works miracles among you does he do it for by The Works of the law or by the hearing of faith is uh in verse five here by does he do it by The Works of the law or by the hearing of you know by the hearing of Faith now this has a lot of different um connotations to it I mean it has a lot of different things going on here because the law was a fleshly here it is this is what you do ABC thing uh there was a lot of Miracles per se God performed things among the people as he was bringing them out to be to be his people God even had the prophets perform certain acts before the people in order to guide the people in order to to lead them and in some cases even rescue them from different situations but when we start thinking about just Miracles like the healing and all the different things that that that Jesus was able to do and that the apostles were able to do that those things happen in order to Foster the law and even in the Old Testament that those things that God performed on The People happen to bring forward the law or to promote the law or to uh to make the law more prevalent to the people oh were these acts in God's will these Miracles and acts in God's will so the question of whether you know this is something that was done through the law or something in the hearing of faith is a very relevant question because it makes people think these people who had been so tied into the physical phical nature and the physical actions required by the law was it really The Works that God was looking at was it really The Works that God required or was he really looking into the hearts of men all along where the Miracles works for that written code or is it was Faith was it God's action any thoughts I was just reading Hebrews 11:13 you know of course we we call this the faith Hall of Fame right there's a part about uh where uh you know I'm going to read um starting with 13 through 16 these all died in faith not having received the things promised having seen them and greeted them from afar and having acknowledged that they were strangers and Exiles on the earth for people who speak th make it clear that they are seeking a homand if they have been thinking of that land from which they had gone out they would have had opportunity to return but as it is they desire a better country that is a Heavenly therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God for he has prepared for them a city all these people that are mentioned are basically people from the Old Testament uh before the law I believe now we talking Abraham we talking he mentioned Abel he mentioned Abel he mentioned Isaac and Jacob you know so this is all before the law and he said all these people died in faith so anyway I don't know if I addressed your question I get kind of carried away sometimes no no no no your points well taken well taken think about this for me let me ask a question to the class everybody can jump in where you want to jump in here these all died in faith is what this what the scripture just said the page that brother Dar just read was saying they Trust Ed God they trusted believed his word and trusted him what where does that fit in our faith can you have faith in God and not have absolute trust that he's going to carry out everything according to his word can you can we really have faith in God and not be be able to lean on him fully anybody I mean this is this this is not a simple thing it's not a simple thing to let go and and and just lean 100% on God and and on his will and his way it's not simple what do you guys think about that when they're talking about these people dying in faith that mean they trust that God was going to do this even though they didn't think that they may not they may have known they weren't going to see it but they still trust that God was going to do it what do you think about that anybody just didn't stir any thoughts at all go ahead s go go yes um so I'm a cancer survivor right and I knew honestly I knew that whether I lived or I died that God was going to take care of me I mean that's what you know that's why I guess my family could deal I was not down I knew if I was here cool if I died it was God's will and I was going to be okay so I really trusted him to either take me to Heaven which I hope I hoped that I was doing or I stay just kind of what I talking about yeah that's a very good point any other thoughts this just Valerie and I agree with what's uh sister Pat just said because I am going through cancer now and I feel the same way that I know God has me whatever it is whatever how it's going to be it's in God's hand so I'm okay with that it is uh when we start when we sing that song uh hide behind the mountain and where's where's the song H behind the mountain where the Chilly Winds Don't Blow that's really talking about trusting God is really talking about that Fortress that power that strength that ability that that all in all that we have in in Christ that we don't have to worry about these things that we just trust him to deliver your back yeah he if you are a Christian and follow you know God has your back exactly exactly and and and that's what we were talking about when we're talking about those those people and and and the faith Hall of Fame they knew that God was there and God had them whether they lived or died they were going to be in God you know and we start thinking about this and we look at this when we start talking about the The Works that were done the Miracles that were done they were done to bring us closer to Christ to bring us closer to God to bring us more to his will not you know these fake Miracles and I apologize the things that people do nowadays you have to look at what the motivation is are they to bring you closer to God or to bring you closer to them or bring you closer to wanting to give to some cause or or or whatever God's Miracles God's work God's will always draws us to him always leads us down that straight Narrow Path it doesn't lead us in the in these other directions so when you look at this the question you know is being asked of course this is by the hearing of Faith because it's bringing us closer to God just as Abraham believed God and it was credit to him for righteousness Ian we start talking about that I mean Abraham believed God and what he said Abraham left all that he had and all that he was in order to follow God he believed him and everything you believe him in everything okay so uh moving on here therefore know that only those who are of Faith are sons of Abraham that's a loaded statement right there when you think about it uh only those are Faith are sons of Abraham now he just made a contrast you just me a contrast of the law of the law being of that physical thing and this the these actions requirements and all these different rudiments that they had to follow and then Faith the belief and The Obedience in God being on the other hand he made that contrast the claim of the Jew je was that they were the children of Abraham but Paul just made a profound statement that those who are following this physical law these rud and this stuff outside of Faith they're not the sons of Abraham as only those of Faith are the sons of Abraham you think about that think about that any thoughts at all I mean could you imagine being in that room that was being said that only those are Faith are the sons of Abraham only those who believe and those who are following the word of God and the will of God they are the sons of Abraham the church us those who are of faith are the true descendants of Abraham now what does that mean when we look at that in light of the events that are going on in the world today if Paul is making this declaration that those of Faith are the sons of Abraham what does that mean how does that reflect on everything that we see when God made the promise to Abraham who was he making the promise to when he made the promise to the descendants of Abraham who was he making the promise to any thoughts those who were led by faith to to continue in Abraham's patterns the way he followed and trusted God in each generation those who followed and trusted God were were the same people he was talking to and they believe by faith you know um all of us have heard people saying in these times in our times today if God's people who are called by my name will repent and and and you know that 2 Chronicles 7:14 has probably been the most quoted scripture in exactly but let's roll back a little little before that before that because we start looking this this next verse here when it says and the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith preached the gospel to ABRA preached look at the words of what the scripture is saying here I'm sorry I get a little a little excited when you start thinking about this right here what's the scripture saying preach the gospel to Abraham beforehand saying and in you all nations shall be blessed so then those who are of are of Faith are blessed with the believing of Abraham Now understand he said that all nations going be blessed through him that the we're talking about these promises the promises he made to Abraham being promises to those who believe this is before the Red Sea this is before the Egyptian Army this is before all the deliverances that he made for the this is before all the prophets and all the things this is before all that happened he was talking to us those promises those things that power that deliverance and everything that God did was for us amen back then and now yeah thing is is we have to grab hold grab hold by faith and just we got to trust in those promises that God made this this is when you look at it for what he actually said right here the gospel preached to Abraham knowing before time that we were coming teach John when you start thinking about that we need to start grabbing hold to the power that God has invested in each and every one of us and this is what this in Ephesians is talking about what's about sending abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine why why because this exact same power the exact same promises that he made way back then to Abraham belong to us but I'm I'm G stop right there so we can get through uh brother Chris go ahead yeah I just was thinking about how um you said that um the scripture kind of verify this as as God being consistent and having this plan uh throughout this time and and so we have examples of Gentiles Faith being demonstrated throughout the Old Testament the Widow of zerith naming you know you can name multiple people who were not g who were not Jews who demonstrated their faith in God and so it's kind of like it's just consistency of of the plan that was there it was views of it you know everybody in Israel may not have been able to see what was going on but there's multiple examples already of God responding to people's Faith who weren't Jews exactly there is there is countless examples countless examples of of God's action and the faith in God and those who were were not of the the Jewish faith when we start to look at this we have to start recognizing we start recog iing that the choosing of the Jewish people the Hebrew people to bring forth the seed of Christ was the will of God to carry out the task that God had placed before them it is not an exclusionary exclusive identification of of a a club of folks that are special in God's sight it never was it never was because God had already declared made the promises before they were a people before they ever came along before they were anything and then through Abraham he reckoned his seed through Abraham he presented the promises before all of these other things happen all these things are just a foreshadow but when we use that language the language is so weak when we try to try to explain what God has done because when I when I say the word foreshadow is really not God set it UPF front he set it up front it's just he brought through his will his way and and the fruition of his plan through time and when the time was right or as the scripture says in the fullness of time Christ came when was right at that right time I mean when you think about this and looking at the the way the word of God is laid out is indisputable it's indisputable we're not talking about all these different trappings and AD things that are added on and the things that perspectives of of men here we're talking about the pure unvarnished word of God and what he is declaring is acceptable what he is declaring are his people what he is declaring as what his will is for us through faith through faith in him which we've all identified already identified includes trusting in Him fully in his will in his way in his plan in his word that we will be delivered all those things that happened in the old old Covenant in the Old Testament whether the Jews are being delivered from this and that no they were just saying this is what God can do for us that's you know this is just an example let me be quiet for minut any comments any thoughts well I think essentially that's what he is trying to remind these Gentiles who are in galatia all about you know because obviously they were starting to become influenced by the judaizers um which was which we know was a problem in the early churches and I guess when you fast forward that put that in context to us today you know we have to recognize that all of this is by faith you know we we don't we you know we're gentiles and so we don't want to be influenced by anything other than what we study here in the word and and live by faith exactly can I back you up a little bit because I I think our Spirits leapt at the same time I got excited when you did but three scriptures jumped in my head right away and I even have notes on them in Matthew 3 and9 to back up what you said about God was God hadn't changed he's been the same on his faith thing from the very beginning when John was baptizing in the wilderness in Matthew 3:9 he said and do not think to say to yourselves we have Abraham as our Father for I say to you that God is able to raise up children of Abraham from these stones and then later on the Jews even said even after John taught this in uh John chapter 8 and verse 39 the Jews said to Jesus Abraham is our father and so Jesus had to straighten them out if you were Abraham's children Jesus said you would do what Abraham did Abraham believed me and then in Romans 2 28 and 29 now we have Paul who also wrote Galatians trying to show us this point that this is not about works and the Flesh and all of that this is spiritual he says for he is not a Jew who is one outwardly nor is cir circumcision that uh which is outward in the flesh but he is a Jew who is one inwardly and circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit not in the letter talking about the law whose praise is not from men but from God so I think both you and I got excited at the same time so this is this is laying out is laying out God's plan and God's will for us it's it's making it clear let's look at this though what just just happened here he has fully established he has fully established the will the way of God he has fully established faith is what God requires of us faith and obedience obedience is is the by product of our faith as well if we're if we believe God we're gonna be obedient to him we're gonna be obedient to his will in his word it's a byproduct It Is by just like when we say Works obedience is the same thing okay uh the can I make a comment please yeah go ahead um I like how and I believe you made the statement how the scriptures look forward um it just makes me see how God God's love for us his love um and that he wants us saved he wants us to be faithful he wants us to be obedient and I it just makes me think of um um with the scriptures looking forward it just shows his love for all for mankind definitely yeah definitely it does it definitely does and may I make a comment go go ahead uh I think one of the things that you know Paul is addressing the era that has crept into these galatian churches and u and he's making it plain that uh we are justified by faith uh that we are saved by faith um and not by works of the law and he has you know several Arguments for that in this chapter the um the thing for us is to be aware that things can creep in among us too and so we should be diligently concern when when things do creep in and try to avoid that everybody does not perceive the scriptures the same way so we have to be you know U very studious of God's word to try to understand it praying that God would help us to do that uh the other thing that I wanted to say is during the Reformation period Martin Luther came up with the notion was justified by faith only and uh we see that Doctrine around too we do know that none of us are sinless uh and we all fall short of the glory of God I have a uh we strive to we strive to do God's God's Will and so Among Us in in our environment there are people who believe that they are saved just by faith only and as everyone has pointed out the uh we've been Paul preached to call Gentiles to The Obedience of the faith and uh and while we miss the mark with our imperfections uh with our earnestness to serve him uh we are covered by the grace of God and so that should give us a great deal of consolation and courage as we live this Christian life exactly but you know when we look at it as brother bar pointed out and brother darl pointed out and and as brother M is pointed out when we look at these things our faith there is a there is a whole belief system out there that that we say by faith alone but faith our faith should give birth and and found Foundation to our our obedience which should be evidenced by our works I mean it all goes together all three of those go together um we can't say that we believe something and it doesn't change us or cause us to take any action or cause us to do anything that should be if we believe is it's going to manifest itself through obedience and that obedience is going to end up being visible through our works uh I I I don't and I think that's what James was was alluding to part of what James was alluding to as well it was his he was much larger but I think that that was part of it Faith leads to obedience which ends up being evidence by or works that we do how we live our lives how we go about the things that that God would have us do throughout this life there are those that will believe that as long as they believe that that's enough and I I think the scripture testifies against that um that our faith should create obedience and that obedience should be evidenced and work uh you know I think that all three all three go together that could be all wi but I think all three have to be there if if if we truly believe if we we're truly converted if you will if if we've you know not you know changed our minds if we we're working towards God I'm not saying that we're going to get everything right I'm not saying we're going to have it all up and we're going to be perfect you know you know we go Sprout wings and fly away I'm not saying any of that what I am saying is that where faith is obedience should abound and where obedience abounds it should be evidence by work you know I think all three of those go hand in hand go ahead sister glad okay so I know he's got our time gonna run out so I want you to see if you can answer this question so we go when we get to Galatians uh 4 and 19 no not 4 3 and 19 it try it seems to try to tell us why the law was given and and it says it was added because of the trans transgressions under the seed and the seed is capital s in my Bible to whom the promise was made would come so what it was added because of is this this this going all the way back to um Noah time what what does that mean I think if we could just finally understand why the law was given maybe it would help to see that it was only for a season it was only for a while I'm not quite sure I'm I have a full understanding of verse 19 it ask the question then it gives an answer was the SE Jesus about Jesus Christ oh it's not it's debatable okay I'll leave it alone no no no no it's not it's not it's something we definitely talk about but I I'm thinking our time is gonna run out before we can actually okay we can talk about it later um but I would go back to you and this is not an answer to the question to think about the laws did serve a purpose remember Paul said that you know we wouldn't know sin if it wasn't for the law because through the law sin became utterly sinful we knew right from wrong we we learned from it however when Grace has come when Christ has come you know he fulfilled that that old Covenant and and and set that aside uh now through faith like I said through faith our hearts and our minds are changed and and and we are changed through faith through true Faith to The Obedience in the word of God we no longer need the law to teach us to guide us to teaches right and wrong we have the will of God and the spirit of God inside of us each and every day uh that that physical written code is no just no longer required as the Hebrew writer said it's waxed old it's no longer required for us to to to find our way to God he has provided a way to him he's provided a way to them and guides us each and every day through his spirit that lives within us so when we the law served a purpose for a time but when Christ has come when that which is perfect has come then the law has passed way because the purpose of the law has been fulfilled therefore you know and like I said and that's a short answer to a long question we we need to get into uh a little bit more deeper in that but that that's just a short answer to a long question uh my time is up by okay any final comments look forward to next week thank you brother Pinkerton I will say that uh in studying this uh book and it's a fascinating book I'm sure we'll all agree is the it lets us know the tremendous uh uh charge that we all have in particular the leaders of the congregation the eldership in the thwarting attempts by the devil to infiltrate the ranks with false teaching false practices Etc so we should always be on the lookout as as members in particular but the eldership they really have a a quite a responsibility of making sure that uh false Doctrine and as we know false Doctrine is running rampid in our world that it doesn't infiltrate our ranks and thus uh jeopardize our candle so to speak very good that's a good comment well I I appreciate everyone being here it is time for us to uh pray to head on over to his devotion and we'll pick up right here on next week all right well thank you bless recording thank you brother Pinkerton good night good night one
