Strategies in Direct Selling and Sales Techniques

hello this video is about direct selling cross selling and up selling so we're going to have a look at the direct selling first what is the meaning of direct selling direct selling is started back in 1960s so basically it's like door too door selling so face to-face selling or a type of selling that do not pass through any uh middle agent or do not pass the uh retailer so basically you might want to sell something online by yourself through your fan like through Facebook or uh eBay also considered as direct selling as well or basically you knock the someone else door by yourself and trying to sell something into it so basically sell through uh personal uh contact Arrangement or sell your through online platform so basically that is a meaning of direct selling all right we're going to have a chat about push and pull strategy before we moving on push and pull strategy is considered as a type of promotional strategy all right so normally pool St strategy we use with a very well-known brand pool uh sorry pool strategy normally how it work is that we will use a lot of advertising campaign to make customer uh would like to buy our product so basically it's like a you know it's like a we use a lot of advertising effort to the customer to make them uh to make them have more demand and come and demand the product from us so more like the the the buying power is come from the buying force is come from the customer for example examp it could be like a a pre-order product that type of thing so like before the product actually launch something it could be like a pre-order product or it could be something like a Dell type of computer the customer come to the um the Dell website and purchase it so Dell doesn't have many uh retail outlet okay they might have but not many retail outlet so the idea is that use advertising to make the customer come and demand the product from us okay next style um we talk about push strategy push strategy normally work well with the product that is not well known for example uh we the company will use some type of advertising to make the customer aware but at the same time we make the you know wholesaler and uh retailer trying to sell those product as well so basically we push the product out from our warehouse all right for example let's say if we uh selling an an unknown brand cloth we might want to push that to you know B The wholeseller Not So B but we you know give more in to the wholesaler and retailer to store our clothes in that store and then sell the product all right so um let's say if let's say if they like a Dale product that is so welln or like some games is very well known people will come and pre-order those are po strategy but let's say if we are selling like a hairy coconut like this one I'm not sure how hairy you can see oh yeah if you're selling this Hairy Coconut where is no brand and no one know about it so what we use we will use push strategy we will our Safeway to store our Hairy Coconut and then sell it so this is the difference between push and pull strategy moving on cross selling what is the meaning of cross selling is that when we selling a product we're trying to sell um let's say if you already selling a product like um Insurance all right uh the company will try to link this product to a similar product or related product to make the customer buy as well let's say if you buy if you buy a house insurance the uh company might try and to say okay how about you buy contain Insurance well as well why don't you buy car insurance as well why why don't you buy life insurance as well so try to cross selling to something else all right or if you go on the airline on the airplane now they is like um might link you to a hotel might link to a travel agency might link to like a a backage insurance so trying to cross selling sell you something else as well so that is a meaning of cross selling so selling and additional product that is relating to your original purchase all right so that is cross selling um next one which is the last one which is upselling what is the meaning of upselling is mean that uh the seller trying to upsell you meaning upgrade your product upgrade your want you to buy more upgrade your pro product to a better level if you think of um airplane they might say okay you would you like to upgrade your seed to a a more room leg room space you can have to pay a little bit extra would you like to choose your space you have to pay a little bit extra or they might be saying that you're actually buying two uh you might be buying two two Hairy Coconut at the moment but then they say okay look if you buy four Hairy Coconut you can get one more hair Hairy Coconut for free so this is a way to make you actually buy a little bit more products right this is a conclusion of the upselling cross selling as well as the direct selling thank you for watching
