[Music] marvelous Millicent Fawcett an amazing Emmeline Pankhurst their mission fighting for the right to have their safe these are two superheroes with two very different superpowers both battling a grave injustice the story starts way back in 1897 Oh sir when the only people allowed to vote for their MPs in the UK were rich men and no women at all marvellous Millicent was angry about it she set up a league of heroes known as the suffragists they campaigned for women to get the vote and tried to get support from men in Parliament but for amazing Emmeline this wasn't enough she started a different group of heroes called the stalker jets in 1903 who felt that they had to go much further to bring about change they chained themselves to railings set buildings on fire and attacked policemen not everyone liked the sub-project because of their tactics but they definitely made an impact and then in 1914 a great darkness fell upon the planet and World War one broke out that meant that women took the place of men in lots of really important jobs while the men were fighting on the battlefield and because women made a huge difference to winning the war it became impossible to keep ignoring demands to give them the vote so in 1918 the rules were changed all adult men were allowed to vote and for the first time some women could choose it would be another 10 years before all women could vote but our super heroes played a huge part in creating a future where men and women could have an equal votes [Music]
