they said that still will come out after watching the first eight seasons of Dexter and half of New Blood before I dropped it I decided I cannot wait any longer and it's time I talk about one of my new favorite shows that being Dexter this show got a random spring in popularity and the memes are Priceless so today I'll be overviewing some of the first couple Seasons along with elaborating here and there on why the show is so great if this video receives well I'll probably be making deeper analysis on the show but this video is essentially for those who are curious to know why this show is so popular before we talk about specifics let me give a synopsis on the show Dexter is about a guy named well Dexter who's a blood analyst working for Miami Metro although he appears to be normal he's actually a serial killer who goes around killing criminals who fit the code the code is something his father created for Dexter since at a young age Dexter suffered a traumatic experience with his mom and a dude with a chainsaw man anyways this traumatic event effectively changed Dexter for the worse and we'd see him have urges of wanting to kill stuff and his dad or Harry in order to suppress these urges decides to give him a code so he can control himself while living a normal life in season 1 we see the main core characters being Dexter his sister Deb who's trying to prove herself as a cop masuka the Pervert funny character Batista who in season 1 is kind of similar to Dexter in a sense where he's hiding who he actually is but unlike Dexter who's a serial killer Batista is going through a midlife crisis and is trying to hold it together Maria who's I'm not going to say that word okes the only one who gets the creeps from Dexter I won't really mention too much about any of them aside from mainly Dexter does and Deb but the others will be mentioned along with other characters later on in the video especially with characters like Rita now the show hooks you from the beginning by showing Dexter having experience and what he does along with him now going after a killer who doesn't like to leave blood which we know Dexter has a thing for and so from episode one they kind of hook you with Dexter who's always seemingly one step ahead now needing to catch someone who's one step ahead of him it's very simp simple and easy to understand and it also allows you to really just analyze how Dexter interacts with the real world while having to deal with something like this he has a wife who has kids that he's currently trying to work through a relationship with along with having a sister who's really the only family he has left well that's until we find out who the actual I truck killer is that being Brian Moser or B the I truck killer would be revealed to be Dexter's biological brother meaning he was there when his mother died as well both of them in Dexter's words were born in Blood and he'd be the only other person so far to understand Dexter as they've gone through the same traumatic event on top of being his actual blood along with the fact that even before this Brian tried being his friend although the ice truck killer is a complete psychopath we do know that ultimately he just wanted to be with his brother he wanted someone to understand him and he thought maybe if he understood Dexter maybe Dexter would want the same thing I also like how careful Brian actually is the only reason Dexter managed to put the pieces together is because he got one lucky conversation with Batista and everything would get even worse when Deb would end up getting engaged to Bro along with being nearly murdered and we do see in season 1 and unfortunately in other Seasons that Deb really just wants someone to latch on to but I feel like it's different with Brian since Not only was he the first one to really deceive her he literally married her to like get closer with her brother and then tried to kill her Dexter would be forced to kill him as although Dexter believes he has nothing and tries to convince us that he's empty inside we know by the end of season 1 the two really closest things that Dexter has to really feeling anything is Deb and Rita and so he cannot let his sister die leading into him murdering his own brother we as the viewers should be satisfied but we see Dexter even struggling to accept this because now he doesn't have anyone around that could truly understand him this leads into season two where Dexter begins to get a little rusty with killing leading into his tracks being uncovered by Sergeant does in season 1 we already saw does gradually pressing Dexter more and more but season 2 allows him to fill the villain position in full and it makes this season even better than the last in my opin I do think overall season 1's pacing is better but does and Dexter's Dynamic along with the dialogue exchange just honestly makes up for some of the most entertaining stuff in the entire show and no I'm not just saying that because does is my favorite character and I'm kind of biased anywh who Dexter would earn a rep as the Bay Harbor Butcher and with but does on him constantly he needs a better excuse and this leads into him going to rehab where he meets GH lla she's just a can of bad problems that Dexter opens up fully which leads to him almost cosing his relationship with Rita because he cheated on her with lla and she'd also be the one to get does killed so you could fully understand why I hate this dumb [ __ ] I do like her addition as she's someone who's rather blinded by the darkness in contrast to Dexter who's letting it guide him and it also bounces back to Rita who's blinded by light and is the one thing that kept Dexter are truly human and I like how they manag to work out their issues because they love each other and are big impacts in each other's lives and ultimately they are better off together I'll talk more about their relationship in season 4 for obvious reasons but let's just continue on with season 2 as Dexter is going through this does is getting a lot closer and closer but it leading to him slipping up and almost losing his mind in order to try and be right even though he's right and later on in the seasons he actually ends up being proven right the fact that Dexter was able to Gaslight the entire station because of how insane does was I really did like this because Dexter slipping up in the beginning of the season is what got does to get so close in the first place and then when does got so close he then slipped up and Dexter took advantage and we'd even see these two end up working together and we'd see does have a heart-to-heart moment with Dexter does up to this point is the only one who truly knows his secret and yet tries to see the best in him since episode 1 we knew that does did not like this guy at all and yet by the end of season 2 does is the first person to try and understand Dexter not counting lla not counting lla because she ultimately did not understand Dexter and Brian because that's his actual brother say what you want about does but at the end of the day he is a good cop and tries to see the best in this psychopath and when Lyla kills him we see Dexter get upset at this and get his get back soon after after the first two seasons a lot of people believe the show gets a little stale but I believe season 3 to be the most underrated season of Dexter not only is this a season where Dexter finds a true friend but he ends up turning this friend into a monster even worse than himself and the reason it all happens is because bro killed his brother the addition of Miguel gives us a new side of Dexter where he's the one now getting deceived and is not in the dominant position as his old friend from the last season we see that Miguel and Dexter actually have a genuine bond with each other and Miguel uses that to try and deceive Dexter but unfortunately for Miguel Dexter has way more experience in this field Maria as she isn't every season is just okay but she just sucks man I don't even want to talk about her right now the addition of quinnn is also fire I love Quinn from the first few seasons he's on but unfortunately he does fall off but we're not here to talk about that yet for the most part he just kind of plays off Deb whose Arc with Anton is honestly not the worst thing in the world but it's just so underwhelming I will say one thing about this season is that it does kind of feel forgettable as the only thing that is kept throughout the season here is Quinn the build of Bita and Dexter's relationship and Miguel everything else is just kind of whatever like that whole thing with Batista and the hooker cop in and that going nowhere either like what was the point of that and even Miguel feels more so like an afterthought in the grand scheme of things cuz he's not really mentioned too much after this which makes me kind of sad as he definitely gave us the funniest scene in Dexter at all they said that stain would come out come out come out come out come out come out I am the last person you want to [ __ ] with I will [ __ ] you back in way you never even a m why then [ __ ] you Rita is someone I haven't really spoken too much on but now that we're approaching season 4 ter atory we can talk about her more Rita out of anyone we talked about is the only person that Dexter feels the closest to human around even despite being a serial killer and not caring about those around him and constantly saying to us the viewer that he feels nothing it's clear he feels some type of way for Rita in her own way she was just as damaged as Dexter and despite that she was the light that blinded Dexter and really was the answer to leaving this lifestyle behind Trinity who ultimately is the one who murders Rita is supposed to represent what Dexter could become if he keeps going down the way he is and we see him in this season especially starting to not follow the code and not only does this delay him from killing Trinity himself but ultimately it's his own decisions that allow him to kill Rita just in time before his fate was ultimately set giving us in my opinion one of the best plot twists or shocking moments in television we see throughout the entire episode it seems like Dexter finally has gotten a hold on Trinity reita and the kids are going to Disney World everything's all good but everything goes bad when Dexter goes back to the house and seeing Rita's phone in the house meaning she must have went back to go and get her ID we would then hear Dexter's son crying in the bathroom and Dexter would run in to go and see what's going on before we'd see the lifeless body of his wife being put in the same position as Trinity's victims so even after Dexter got the kill he lost the one thing that truly made him feel human and it's clear from this point on he will never be the same I'm not going to going to be talking about seasons 5 through 8 just yet I'm going to be probably doing that in another video this video is just me yapping about what makes Dexter so good and honestly it's really the first four seasons I do think seasons 5 through 8 have good stuff in between it but most of it kind of sucks and we'll probably go over that soon
