welcome to nursing school explain in this video on some fun acronyms for hypo and hyperglycemia if you haven't already done so please out check out the other videos where I fully explain everything that goes on with these two conditions and how the blood sugars get high and low but for the acronyms I find these very helpful the first one is cool and clammy need some candy so this poor guy here is all cold and Frozen and his skin is diaphoretic and he definitely could use a candy wrapper and that is SS of symptoms of hypoglycemia cuz then the patient needs some candy or sugar that typically occurs when the blood sugar is less than 70 but make sure that you know what protocol that you're working with at your facility so that you know what considers hypoglycemia on the other side we have hot and dry means sugar high so this poor guy here is all sweating he's all hot he's got the flame his blood sugar is elevated usually hyperglycemia is defined as a blood sugar of about 110 or above but the patient might not have these symptoms until the sugar is quite elevated at 250 or maybe even above depending on the patients's Baseline and where they usually live so keep that in mind cold and clammy need some candy hot and dry Sugar High just some fun little little acronyms here for you to hopefully remember those signs and symptoms of hypo and hypoglycemia thanks for watching see you soon
