okay we're going to start lesson on chapter [Music] eight chapter 8 8.1 it's about alloy and its importance okay so let us look at the first part we need to know the definition for Alloy okay yeah so [Music] definition foro will be is a mixture mixture of elements mixture of two or more elements two or more elements and a fixed ratio fixed ratio in which the major element the major element will be okay yeah so compulsory to memorize the definition okay let us go into the example of uh alloy and its uh components and properties okay yeah so let us look at the first one so we'll be looking into syllabus you don't have to know many except for the which is given in the textbook okay so the first the first the first uh example will be the duralumin here duralumin make sure you know the spelling correctly Dural main component will be aluminium okay aluminium and then uh the other minor components will be copper okay uh [Music] magnesium and manganes okay so the main component will be the one which is highlighted that will be the aluminium and the foring particles which is added this will be the uh addition foring particles that is added okay yeah foring atoms okay the properties ofine it is stronger than pure aluminium okay yeah stronger okay and it has low density low density okay and uh most important is do not rust okay yeah do do not R does not R do not R okay so the main uses for good alumin will be okay yeah uh body of arls okay body of AR uh electric cable and bracing bicycles okay electric cables and bracing bicycles okay so you can see the properties will actually uh suits the uses of the allo itself okay for example body of aan so we need something which is stronger at the same time it is low density so when you add the following particles in aluminium not only it does not rust it is low density yet it is stronger okay yeah the second one second example will be bronze okay here bronze the main component will be copper okay yeah so main comp component is copper the addition will be the thing okay yeah keep in mind the main component is copper the one which is highlighted in green will be the main component the other elements will be the foreign atoms which is added to it okay yeah uh so the properties of bronze will be it is stronger stronger does not just okay and it is shiny so the main uses for bronze will be to make medal okay to make Medals monuments and monuments okay next example number three will be brass okay number [Music] three will be brass here main component is copper but in this case the element which is added will be zinc okay yeah zinc so again copper is the main component which is highlighted in green okay yeah zinc is the addition okay and it has a similar uh properties as copper which is [Music] stronger just not rust and shiny okay the main uses for Alloy will be okay for for brass to make musical instruments there to make musical instruments duts and keys door knuts and keys okay we continue to the next example number four will be Ste Ste so the main component is iron and the addition will be carbon okay yeah so remember iron is the main component the one is added to it will be the carbon okay yeah it's also sometimes known as carbon steel okay yeah but uh carbon steel that means from that from the name itself uh you can derive the components of the steel okay yeah also known as carbon steel carbon steel okay so steel is normally is stronger the property so still it is [Music] stronger harder okay yeah it is malleable malleable okay and normally the name uses for steale will be to uh structure of buildings okay structure of buildings okay structure of buildings ra Wheel tracks and body of class okay yeah so other properties that you can pull is does not ress as well here does not ress easily okay and then next one number five okay number five will be stainless steam stainless steel okay again here the main component will be Iron okay yeah iron I highlight the main component the addition is more than one in this case the addition can be chromium okay theel and Caron okay n and carbon the properties of uh steel will be most important it is resistant to cusion resistant to cusion all you can see do not r okay and the main uses of uh stainless steel is to to make surgical instruments okay to make surgical instruments surgical instruments okay and Cutler or you can say cooking utensils as well okay so you can see the what we say the properties goes for the usage so normally surgical instruments we want something that does not corrode or resistant to corrosion totally so stainless still will be the best okay and next one last one will be pter number six is pter okay yeah which is thing is the main component in this case Tin Tin is the main component the one that highlighting okay and the addition will be antimony and also copper okay yeah most important thing is that you need to know the major major component okay you don't have to memorize the percentage of the components okay all you need to know is example of alloy okay example of alloy and its major components which I have highlighted in green and the others will be the one addition to it okay yeah so you need to know the major component and the minor component you don't have to memorize the percentage of these components but you need to know the properties and relate the properties to the users itself okay okay now we go back to pter so the properties of pter will be it is stronger stronger does not rust okay and shiny so you can see the properties is actually related to its uses itself so normally we use to make decorative items okay and Sven okay so this is the example of uh alloy and it uses proper and definition okay
