want to take my time and really absorb all that Wilds has to offer so to not leave you hanging entirely here are a bunch of cool lore and ecology detail s i noticed that are too small for their own it's free to play and very much worth it for the excitement of hunting monsters out in the real world click the link in the description jump into the event before it's gone and I'll see you out there happy hunting and now let's get back to the video for starters you may have noticed in the beta that when you gather bugs you don't actually collect and stash the entire bug anymore instead your character gathers various types of dusts or fluids from them into recepticle before letting the bugs go free again this change is given a lore reason in the Hunter's notes for the flash buug which explained that science in the mon Center Universe has advanced enough to realize that most bugs relevant to medicine and crafting do not need to be killed to have their useful components harvested it specifically mentions that flash bugs used to be thought to flash only upon death but that this theory was rejected once the body part of the bug that produces the flash was isolated this is a small but significant statement as it's one of many indications that Wilds represents a distinct Leap Forward in the timeline now you might be wondering how did I get a hunter notes entry on flash bugs easy you can capture any of the bug Gathering spots with your captur this will register them as captured endemic life and unlock their Hunter notes which are quite interesting big day for bug enthusiasts the Hunter's notes are in general quite useful this time around and I recommend reading them whenever you feel like it for example they mention a new feature related to vespoids as these classic flying pests have always kind of felt analogous to mosquitoes they now also share their attraction to light gameplay-wise you can hypnotize and stun vespoids now but by just shooting a dollop of bright Moss somewhere near them they will be entirely transfixed on it and will stop bothering you you can even weaponize this if you pepper a large monster with bright Moss nearby vesps will attack and distract it for you speaking of bugs Vigor wasps are some of the most useful ones in the game healing you if you pop the bubbles of Health juices they carry with them now I am sure you've either heard or already seen that during the season of Plenty Vigor wasps are more common and the giant Vigor wasps begin to appear but here's something cool sometimes when you pop a Vigor wasp it doesn't just despawn in these cases the Wasps will zip around manically for a bit before seeking out the nearest Vigor Lily where it will restock its Health bubble not only does this respawn the healing opportunity really quickly it's also just such a cool detail the endemic life in general is absolutely topnotch this time around there are too many cool interactions to list them all but here's a favorite of mine in The Scarlet Forest you can find a creature called the mimita the more biologically inclined of you might notice that this name kind of sounds like plant mimic because that's exactly what it is the mimita will camouflage itself as plant line to avoid predators and secure food now according to the Hunter's notes this creature has two forms a plenty form where it resembles a flower and a phow form where it mimics mushrooms but while I was able to find the Plenty form quite easily I could not spot the phow version no matter how hard I scoured the forest really speaks to how good its camouflage is eh so fellow researchers if you happen to find a phow form mimita let me know and others down in the comments but it's not just endemic life that gets cool stuff like this the large monsters are of course the stars of the show and they got the ecology to match as one example let's look at my smelly King the congalala there are many reasons to be happy that this rotund goat has returned but one really cool addition to him is its new truffle mechanic as you might know congalala can eat various mushrooms to give itself various breath abilities like paralysis or poison but in Wilds it can sometimes dig up a black truffle which will give it all breath abilities at once when eaten however when you notice congalala digging for that truffle it has a very distinct animation you can interrupt it and stop it from getting this buff the real cool thing about this is that you can then collect this special item called trua for yourself and use it as a cooking ingredient this is in fact one of only two ways I know of getting this item Beyond monster specific mechanics there are also some broader systems that I really adore here monsters do not simply despawn when slain instead their bodies begin to gradually Decay they darken and expulse black body fluids eventually attracting pal bugs these unique anemic Critters are decomposers which feed on the rotting carcass this goes on for some time before the body eventually vanishes entirely in some cases the corpse might turn into a bone pile for you to gather from and they can even yield a unique Gathering material occasionally for my part though the corpse I was recording attracted a chemet trees to my positions so I had to scadaddle so let's say that this chemet trees now carts me and I get booted back to one of my pop-up camps if I were patient enough I could choose to stalk the feline that rescued me after I'm back on my feet which reveals that cart felines make an entire trip back to base camp braving the Wilderness in solitude if you follow them you will see them make that trip it is really really cool now that we are back in semi civilization let's talk about some of the dialogue in the game if you pay attention you will notice that the natives of the Eastlands have different names for local monsters compared to the guild they call chatak Cabra giant toads and bahar's sand leviathans for example this is just a sweet worldbuilding detail I really appreciate there also seem to be cases where the guild adopts the native names of monsters such as do Shuma which seems to be an originally kunafin name as it is said the first time by isai speaking of dialogue here is a really juicy one when you first Venture into the Scarlet Forest you get to see it in its fellow State when the water is a deep red while pondering what might cause this coloration our resident biologist Eric says this plant matter could cause a color change although that wouldn't explain a red this right if I was really reaching I could sight reports of monsters that caus the sea to appear R look I don't think this means anything but it's the first reference to D Morales in like 10 years I'll take what I can get and lastly this isn't really a cool detail as much as it is a piece of advice when ordering a popup Camp make sure not to stand exactly where the camp will be built thanks for
