Exploring the Yonko in One Piece

The Yonko are the single most powerful group  of characters in one piece, each of them so   strong and influential, that one of them alone  can shape world events, start wars and control   entire patches of ocean. Whether it’s the first  generation of Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard,   or the new generation of Luffy, Buggy, Blackbeard  and Shanks, the emperors are the only pirates in   one piece who are able to compete for the title  of pirate king and pose a real threat to the world   government. And each of them is not only a walking  natural disaster, but they often also have massive   fleets, powerful crews and unique weapons at their  disposal. However, Oda has also made sure that no   matter how strong a yonko crew may seem, each of  them would have a unique and fatal weakness that   can be used to take each of them down, and  we will reveal all 7 of them in this video. First up on the chopping block are the infamous,  the mysterious, and INCREDIBLY powerful Red Hair   Pirates. They are so fierce, they can stop the  MARINEFORD war just by showing up. You know,   I bet you Shanks has a pair of black air  forces too, because he’s got that energy,   that’s for sure. But it’s not just him! Obviously  I could go on and on about Mihawk's rival, the   man who inspired Luffy, and Roger’s apprentice.  There’s NO doubt that this dude is one of, if not   THE strongest Yonko on the seas. After all,  he is the only Yonko to be a part of two   different generations. But no, it’s not just  him! Benn Beckman, Lucky Roo, and Yasopp are   all TOP-level threats that can strike fear  into the admirals and other pirate crews. So the question is, how do you beat  them? Well, there’s a couple of ways,   actually! First and foremost, they definitely  are an inverted pyramid when it comes to power   structure. What do I mean by that? Well, it’s just  that everything HINGES on Shanks. It’s something   they have in common with the Straw Hats, but we’ll  talk about them later. This just means that ALL of   the pressure and power starts at a small point.  It all balances on the back of Shanks and then   his officers just above him. The Red Hair  grand fleet is MASSIVE after all, something   we learn during the Egghead Island arc. But  they’ll all crumble without Shanks. So if you   are just powerful enough to cut him down,  the fleet will crumble. Leaving just a few   mild powerhouses to take down— no different  than the Whitebeard pirates after Marineford. But that’s not all! The EXACT opposite is also  this crew's other weakness. Something we saw   when he absolutely dismantled Useless—I  mean, Eustass Kid. It really is just so   hard to imagine him losing a major battle, but if  someone stronger than Kidd stepped to his fleet,   he very well might have! I actually  have a sneaky suspicion this is how   Blackbeard managed to mangle his face. If  you have one or two additional powerhouses,   like the monster trio, for example, you could  ABSOLUTELY lure Shanks into a death trap. Since his fleet is just INCREDIBLY  weak, look at these dudes seriously;   Gerotini? Fugar? PURURU??? YIKES! they are a  massive Achilles heel. When they’re threatened,   Shanks and his officers are absolutely necessary  to stopping anyone who actually poses a threat.   Let’s say Franky prepped a radical beam like Kidd  and aimed it at the Red Hair fleet. Obviously,   Shanks would have to rush in to defeat him.  But waiting in the wings are Luffy, Zoro,   Sanji, and Jimbei! Shanks is SCREWED. He either  has to let his crew die— which we know he would   probably never do based on his reactions to the  violence during Luffy’s kidnapping, Marineford,   and Elbaf battle—OR Shanks has to just go head  first into the trap. And if he does, he is TOAST!   Whether it’s Kaido, Whitebeard, Blackbeard, or  Luffy, if any fierce crew forced him into that   spot, he’d die. And then, as I mentioned  already, the crew would crumble with him. Sorry Shanks, being a good guy comes with a fatal  weakness: heart. So let’s talk about someone   completely heartless! Blackbeard you’re up! And I  guess I shouldn’t say completely heartless because   you may actually have 3 hearts, or so the theory  goes. But how do we take you and your overpowered   devil fruit crew down? Not to mention ALL  of Hachinosu as well? To be quite honest,   this dude leaves himself open to SO many  losses it’s not even funny. If he wasn’t   a big bad that needed to make it to the end of  the series, he would have died A LONG time ago. And that’s because his crew is just so  divided! Both emotionally and quite literally,   because when’s the last time we saw them ALL  together? They are constantly in pairs of 3-4   trying to accomplish Teach's goal, only  attacking when other people are weakened   or fragmented. Like their attacks on Whole  Cake and Egghead islands. If they ACTUALLY   got ambushed or pinched by a strong crew like  the Red Hair Pirates or even a unit like Germa,   you could slowly pick off the titanic captains  in chunks. Especially when you account for   their GLARING weaknesses, Haki and the ocean.  During Egghead Island, these anchors were shown   to heavily burden this group. Garp was able to  nearly single-handedly take on half of the crew,   and even someone like Koby is powerful enough  to one shot a HUGE threat like fourth captain   Pizarro with his friendship fist or whatever  he called it. I don’t know, man. There’s so   many attack names in this franchise it’s hard  to remember ones that happen one time. Honesty   impact—that’s what it was called! And HONESTLY  it’s a brutal blow to this titanic crew. But Law showed us how bad their other sandbag was,  because when you give everyone and their mother,   or I guess horse in this case, a devil  fruit, your squads are going to struggle   in the deep end. They’re like that annoying  5-year-old nephew that won’t stop SCREAMING   at you about snack time—if you toss  them in the deep end, they’ll shut   up REAL quick. Unless they are Aokiji, he  doesn’t have that weakness. I mean he does,   but he also hard counters it with his ocean  freezing powers so it’s way less potent than   normal. but I don’t even think he counts because  we all know he’s not actually evil, right? Right? Anyways, yes, someone could manipulate the  ocean like Law's crew or Prime Whitebeard,   then sinking these fools wouldn’t be that hard.  ASSUMING the rest of the crew could hold their   own while you sink the ships. I’m looking at  you, Law; you botched it. You and Kidd man,   you guys would have been fine if you had  stronger crews; what a shame. At least your   J-pop fanboy polar bear saved you. Shout out to  big dawg Bepo for single-handedly saving Bandai   and Banpresto’s action figure sales. Regardless,  if you can keep Kuzan and Van Auger busy,   you can send this crew to Davy Jones' locker.  But you might not even need to do that! Because   the real weakness this crew has is individualism!  They have an art school kid vibe, where they all   think that they are better than each other and  everyone else. It’s literally their branding,   as we saw in Chapter 1081. They are friends,  or true comrades. They all just have aligned   interests, but if a better opportunity to seize  their goals appeared, I’m pretty certain half   of this crew would throw Marshall D. Teach under  a bus, especially if that bus was in fifth gear. Taking down Shanks and Blackbeard is clearer than  I thought on paper— but I promise the last few   crews on this list are FAR from easy. UNLIKE  our next one, the notorious criminal empire,   Cross Guild. This ragtag group of former  warlords is surprisingly stable! There’s   no clear weakness on the surface. They’ve  got stable income, roaring crew support,   especially for Buggy, and are surprisingly  powerful! Especially with their three leaders   around, they are far from an easy crew to  take down. But that in turn is probably   their biggest flaw. The top brass IS impressive,  but other than that? Well, let’s just say they   can’t quite hold their own against everyone  else. I mean, yes, Hawkeyes, Sir Crocodile,   and even Buggy are hard to take down, but the  next three in line are Daz Bones, Galdino,   and Alvida! These are all east blue level threats!  Luffy and the crew took them down WITHOUT Haki,   for goodness sake. Maybe not you Daz bones,  you’re a little stronger, But not THAT strong. If you can handle Mr. 0, the Marine Hunter, and  the Killer Clown, then Cross Guild will sink!   But that’s WAY easier said than done. Somehow, I  think Crocodile is the weakest person here. Not   in power; of course that’s Buggy. Not in speed or  skill either; that’s Buggy too. And quite frankly,   in most ways, it’s Buggy. But somehow that dude  is slippery and way harder to handle one on one!   Not to mention, taking him down is the wrong  play, because he’s practically the Joe Rogan   of the one piece world. If you destroyed him,  I think it would cause a great clown crusade,   and the world would burn in the glorious and  eternal name of Buggy D. Clown. And let’s face it,   water splashes completely undo the Croc. If he  comes face-to-face with the wrong kid with a   water balloon, he’s out for the count. Especially  in a world where Haki negates his Logia powers. I, uh, don’t really know how you defeat  Mihawk though, if I’m going to be honest.   I genuinely think you’d need, like,  3-4 Yonko-tier threats to surround him,   or just hope that he switches to your side because  he’s smart enough to ***CUT*** his losses and   stay on the winning side. After, that’s sort of  the only reason he’s with Cross Guild anyways! And now that we’ve talked about NEARLY all of the  modern era, I think it’s time we shifted back in   time and talked about the FORMER Yonko crews. And  I’m not talking about both the old wretches we saw   lose in the story—we are talking about THEIR  PRIME. The Edward Newgate who took on Rogers   crew! The Kaido who freed King from the world  government and overthrew Wano! And of course,   the big mom who was actually kind of a baddie?  Okay, Lin-Lin, I definitely see how you were   able to pull off having so many kids if  that’s what you looked like in your prime. Anyways, let’s start with the man, the myth, the  legend, Whitebeard. Or, as I like to call him,   the one piece Vin Diesel. Captain Edward  Torreto. Dom Newgate. The Pacifier. Okay,   you get the point; they are both all about FAMILY. [insert fast and furious  family meme of your choice] To be real with you, this is an unbelievably hard  matchup. It took the ENTIRE world government and   the warlords to stop his crew, alongside  some of the Impel Down escapees. This dude   is a TRUE powerhouse, and in his prime he  was no slouch. He could rival Roger, Garp,   and was most likely second in command to the  legendary Rocks D. Xebec. So facing off against   him, or really even his  commanders, is an awful idea. But we did see the secret to his defeat. It’s  not about taking him down; it’s about destroying   his mental. You aren’t going to square up with  this beefcake, no. You have to pull a Blackbeard   and REALLY mess with one of his kids. IF you can  set up a situation where a HUGE army awaits him,   he will be stubborn and head into it.  He’s not dumb, and you will lose a lot   of people in the crossfire, but if you pack  a big enough punch, you can take him out. HOWEVER, I will say, there is a MUCH easier  option. Something Blackbeard AND Squard showed us:   deception. He’s admittedly TOO loving, His kids  can truly do no wrong. Which means if you’re full   of true malice and power, and have a good enough  poker face? You can tear this crew apart from the   inside. Just gain his trust and appreciation,  work your way up, and gut him like a fish once   you’ve gotten within reach. You may die in the  process, but hey, so will his crew! They are   LOST without this man. It’s a long con, but it is  the easiest path to success. Just maybe make sure   Marco isn’t nearby to heal him; that stupid  pineapple would definitely ruin this plan. And that’s it; that’s taking  down the best of the best,   but how about the beast of the beast? Next up we  are talking about THE azure dragon himself, KAIDO. I’ll be honest with you, I cannot truly think  of another way to defeat this man head-on   than what we see in the series. Or what we will  eventually see once the true story of God Valley   is revealed. However, there is a PRETTY simple  solution that comes to mine. It’s pretty vile,   it’s arguably the most evil thing in this video,  and I really, REALLY need to stress that I think   this is the only way you could actually beat  Kaido without throwing an entire nation's army,   three massive pirate crews, and  some freelance powerhouses at him. The secret is: Booze. That’s right, the way  you defeat this beast of a dragon is from   the inside out. You have to spike his drink,  plain and simple. And it’s going to have to be   POWERFUL. IF you can get him drunk enough or get  his drink to knock him out and you’ve got a boat   or vehicle with a big enough chain, you just  gotta drag him into the ocean and drown him. I mean, you really can’t throw weapons at  him or drop him off a sky island. You can   hardly hit the dude with conventional weapons!  So you’d need to have someone he trusts get in   and taint his supply. But with King, Queen,  and Jack around? He’s not easy to get to in   the first place. So the answer would probably be  someone who is either already on the inside or a   character like Drake who has just the dinosaur  powers to get on his good side. In my opinion?   Yamato would be the ideal candidate. He  HATES his father and would absolutely do   whatever it takes to kill him. So just get some  drugs in his system, and you’re good to go. Unlike our next threat, the scariest woman on the  ocean, Big Mom. Shes actually probably one of,   if not THE hardest Yonko to square  up against. And quite honestly, it’s   because she really doesn’t have that  many weaknesses. She has absurd haki,   a broken soul stealing devil fruit, and  a BRUTAL crew and army. In her territory?   She's unstoppable. Even when she’s out on  the seas, she is nearly impossible to just   go up against, especially in her prime,  where she’s faster and objectively a smaller   target. Law and Kidd? They probably would  have been manhandled by this Giant Lady. [insert Steven universe Giant Lady meme] So how do you handle her? Poison food? I mean,  that COULD work, but I do think you’d have to   get her to be mentally distraught to do so. She's  not dumb and has private chefs and an abundance   of food at her disposal! Surely she knows  her greatest weakness is food and would take   that precaution! But IF you starve her? Well,  then suddenly we are cooking. That would make   her desperate enough to chow down on anything,  including your poisonous treat. But I think it   could actually be even simpler. The key is in an  often forgotten rule of the one piece world. We   know that devil fruit users, besides Blackbeard,  can’t use two devil fruits. But do you remember   what they said happens if they try? Apparently,  they explode. And fruits, my dear viewers,   are food. So if you cook up a nice cake with one  of these things in it? Boom goes the Big Mom. But here’s the actual problem: that  doesn’t defeat her crew. Quite frankly,   I think it rallies them. They HATE their mom. Are  you kidding me? She sucks and rules with fear and   power. Taking care of her would only actually make  Katakuri, Smoothie, and Cracker MORE difficult to   defeat because they wouldn’t have to live in fear  of big mama. Though I think this part depends on   WHO you are! If you’re a good person and take  care of the family? You’re fine. But if you're   Kaido or Blackbeard? They’re coming for your  throat. But admittedly, without fearing Lin Lin's   wrath for attacking her kids, defeating the crew  wouldn’t be THAT hard for any other Yonko squad. And now it’s time to talk  about our favorite Yonko squad,   The Straw Hats. And there’s a  reason I saved them for last. [seem a bit defeated and  tired with this next line] They’re difficult to take down, man! Seriously,  they are all powerful, the grand fleet is strong,   and defeating one or two members would probably  BOOST the other members' determination and   strength. We literally saw this with Nami AND  Robin during Wano, where coming for their boys   DRASTICALLY powered them up. I mentioned earlier  that they share a weakness with the Red Hair crew.   The fact that they all LOVE Luffy and want  to achieve his dream can be an Achilles heel,   but that’s actually just a 50/50. Because if you  threatened Luffy, it might just create a crew of   absolute demons who, despite killing themselves in  the process, would do everything to destroy you. These people RALLY hard and really don’t  even think Luffy can be beat. The MAN HAS   DIED in front of them several times, and they  all just say, “No, he can’t die,” cry a bit,   and then he rubber bands back to life. DEFEATING  THE PROTAGONIST’S CREW IS REALLY DIFFICULT, OKAY?? But I think there IS a way. And it’s because the  ACTUAL biggest weakness of this crew is their   size. They are TOO small. They constantly have  to get out of dodge when bigger fleets show up,   and the whole reason behind the coup de burst is  THIS reason. They have to be able to avoid large   fleets of marines. Which says a lot about  their biggest weakness. It’s not mentality,   it’s not power, and it’s not some cheeky poison  or something else. It’s smothering them out. With   the right information, you could one hundred  percent destroy them with a buster call or   a mid-ocean surprise attack. If you block  out the sun with cannon balls, you CAN sink   their battleship. As long as you aim for their  engines and disable the get of jail free card,   the coupe de burst. Once that bad boys taken care  of? The straw hats are sitting dead in the water. Now I have to admit, no matter how you cut it, the  Yonko are HARD to defeat. But a group that may be   easier? The admirals. So if you’d like to see how  easy it would be for Luffy to defeat the admirals,   and not just that, how EASY it is for him to  do it, check out this video on that exact idea.   Needless to say, Luffy vs. ALL of them requires  a lot of crazy strategies. Shanks for watching,   and keep an eye out for even more crazy  one piece content coming down the pipeline.
