Hey, in this video we will talk about latent inhibition. Latent inhibition is a term used in classical conditioning to refer to the observation that a familiar stimulus takes longer to obtain meaning than a new stimulus. Simply put, what it means is it's easier to learn something new than to unlearn something familiar, which is, if you think about it, actually makes sense. Let's take aversion conditioning to dentists. as an example.
We have a child and he has been to the dentist multiple times and never experienced pain. At his seventh visit to a dentist, he experiences pain but the chances he will develop aversion to dentists is low. But now let's look at another child.
She has never been to the dentist before and on her first appointment she experiences pain. the probability she will develop aversion to dentists is higher. So once again simply put when stimulus is near conditioning is easier.
Hope this has been clear. If you have any questions leave a comment. Thank you for watching.
Bye.
