The Seven Continents
- Continents are large land masses on Earth.
- The seven continents, from largest to smallest, are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
Asia
- Asia is the largest and most populous continent with over 4 billion people.
- Bordered by the Pacific, Indian, and Arctic Oceans.
- Contains 48 countries; India alone has 30 official languages.
- Major attractions: Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, Bali Island.
- The Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world.
Africa
- Africa is the second largest and second most populated continent.
- Has 54 countries; Algeria is the largest by area.
- Bordered by Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Red Sea.
- The Nile is the longest river in the world; Sahara is the largest hot desert.
- Popular attractions: Victoria Falls, Mauritius.
North America
- Third largest continent, containing 23 countries.
- Surrounded by the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans.
- Mexico has the largest population; United States is the wealthiest.
- Popular attractions: Niagara Falls, Walt Disney World.
South America
- Bordered by the Pacific Ocean (west) and Atlantic Ocean (east) with 12 countries.
- Has the Amazon River (largest by volume) and Angel Falls (worldβs highest waterfall).
- Atacama Desert is the driest place; Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest.
Antarctica
- Ice-covered continent surrounded by the Southern Ocean.
- Windiest, driest, and least populated continent; no permanent residents.
- Notable for emperor penguins.
Europe
- Third most populous continent with 50 countries.
- Russia is the largest country; Vatican City is the smallest in the world.
- Famous attractions: Big Ben, Eiffel Tower.
Australia (Oceania)
- Smallest continent; main cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, and Canberra.
- Known for kangaroos, koalas, Sydney Opera House, and Australian Alps.
