this is tears of the Kingdom blindfolded and how I did it and yes this is the entire game of Zelda beaten without looking at the game whatsoever that means all four shrines across the Great Sky Island traversing the Overworld and making it past ganon's Army defeating Ganon himself flying with dragons and catching Zelda and surprisingly uh catching Zelda is at the end is one of the hardest things you can do blindfolded I'm not even joking we'll get to that I'm going to explain how I managed to do all of this and the insane strategies I have to navigate like this speedrun uses two different controllers uh it Clips to the ground it has a amibo and there's so many small quirks I'm just so excited to tell you all about don't worry as well if there's any questions you have about this speedrun I'll be answering it in this video If you see something cool and I don't immediately explain it I will at some point where it makes the most sense and when I say this is a deep dive I mean it I mean the first thing I want to explain is well I'm blindfolded so I can't see anything I it's just complete darkness and the only thing I can do is hear the game so I'm going through this cut scene right now uh listening to the cogs spinning and everything else um that the game's going on now specifically you're going to see a lot of peculiar movement in this game like for example right here uh I'm going to he for the little of going onto the little step and then I'm going to hop about nine times uh before stopping right here and that's where we get to like the Crux of blindfolded speeduns it's called normalized movement now I I can't see the game obviously and everything's kind of just black in my head and and I can only hear things so the way that I know where I am in the game is by moving in ways that are standardized like hopping I always know the exact distance link travels when he hops so by counting hops over a long distance I know exactly how far I've gone additionally like if we press a on this jump pad here there are places in the game that will move you to certain positions for certain actions and if you know what those positions are you know where you are in the game there's a couple things coming up that are very peculiar like for example um I end up getting this chest uh with pants and I kid you not this is actually one of the most important things of the entire run because you cannot complete this route of tiar of the Kingdom without wearing pants it's very odd and you actually can't even like beat the game without pants like there's a weird thing at the very end where you have to take off your pants and then put them back on and then take them off again we'll get to that I'll explain exactly why later uh but that's the beginning segment of it another thing I want to explain is intros skip uh you probably saw at the very beginning of the video that the timer in the upper left corner uh started at 6 minutes and 40 seconds now that's called intros skip because we actually don't do the intro the very beginning of the entire game and the way I put it to my uh twitch chat when I would explain this to them is that there's nothing worse than aninut unskippable cut scene at the very beginning of the game well actually the the only worst thing is not even being able to watch it just listening to it the very intro of the game is so simple uh that it's just basically among Runners for blindfolded tear of the Kingdom it's kind of known as basically a auto scroller now this right here is actually a really interesting Str and something we use about twice during the run is where we dive into the water we save the game and then we actually instantly reload now you have be like why why do you do that and it's because the game doesn't like it when you try to place Link in water when you save link in water and so what it'll do is it'll actually Place link outside of the water as if you saved there so we'll always be here on that save file so you'll always recognize okay link will be at the very center of this pathway regardless of what you do now we grab a tree branch here and every single item that we pick up during this entire run is incredibly important we only pick up the items that we need for the Run nothing miscellaneous nothing extra because we're going to be doing a lot of menuing and there's nothing worse than a cluttered inventory while you're blindfolded nice super fast now we get this cut scene particularly because uh over to the right here you can see see that there's well the lack of a bridge and the only way to make that bridge appear is by talking to this particular NBC The Wide breath of the NPC's radius of which you can talk to it is pretty generous so as long as we're within a couple meters of it we'll be able to talk to it to unlock the bridge forward the current goal is we're trying to get to the Temple of time because the Temple of Time is where we can unlock the ability to get all four shrines across the Great sky Island in Te of the kingdom and before we get access to the rest of the game we have to complete each one of those shrines now it's going to be a little bit odd because we do that in a very different order during this run uh to maximize for Speed because this isn't just a blindfolded challenge we're trying to do this as fast as possible it's a complete speedrun so we use speed speedrun strats speedrun routes speedrun glitches even trust me those get absolutely insane this is the most basic part of the entire run hardest part of the run right there I say this joke every time and I'm not going to stop now all you have to do is hold up and right and then press a to activate the bridge how does he think of it as you can see here uh we're we're getting to our first like real save point coming up so we're going to jump 14 times uh up until I hear or jump until you hear a slight thing of grass here um and the reason being is we are able to save now save points in this game are horrible uh you can save in one spot and this is going into normalized movement and everything you can save in one spot but then when you reload the game the game will actually put you in a different spot just because it does sometimes so there's very small areas in which we are able to actually save the game and then reload in that exact same spot so that's why we do it back there is if I fail this portion of swimming up or pressing up and Link doesn't climb right here or he doesn't do this little uh hop right there or maybe I missed the second branch that we're about to grab right there uh basically we can reload the save and always know that link is in that same position uh I actually whistle because there's an ostrich coming up here that if we don't actually whistle it will hit me so as you can see it's very planned out I have failed that way too many times so we do a whistle there uh to have some safety uh measures in case a lot of this has to do with safety because uh right here you can see that we go around and we do a whole bunch of things that I have memorized however sometimes these things can just go wrong and a huge important thing about the Blindfolded speedrun is being able to get a backup and know exactly where you are in case you do fail that memorization which is really cool I'm actually watching this for pretty much the first time right now as we are commentating this so it's pretty cool here's another thing of normalized movement you'll see I get hit by a rock there that's not part of it don't worry but the normalized movement here is that we try to get into as many right angles and Corners as possible because now I know that I'm in that corner and I can jump up to here and always be in that spot every single time that I try to get in that spot that's why Corners are so valuable and edges here of the kingdom is particularly really hard because as you can see there are a bunch of different edges and Corners that aren't 90° uh which makes very strange so you can see we're in the corner right here and we need to get to the Temple of Time which is above this uh little staircase input we're going to do a little safety save because this upcoming segment is pretty difficult I've gotten everything first try so far and this is probably one of my biggest reset moments where we have to uh battle this construct uh completely blind uh so we throw the tree branch to uh get it off center and then uh we go up forward and then we try to actually stagger it one more time because it drops it Shield and it drops its sword these are things that we're going to need to complete the rest of the game and the shield is incredibly important for reasons I'll explain later uh now what what we also do here is a cool thing that I like to call scoping and you Scope right there because in case link ever changes his angle the scope will always reset the camera in that exact spot all the time we pick up the horn and the charge and then we menu and then sort particularly because then the horn will always be in the left corner Corner because we don't want this horn at all so then we take that left corner and then we drop it immediately because all we want in our inventory is the charge so now I know in my head that the only thing I have in my inventory in the item section is the charge the horn is no longer existent nice that was uh really fast that was actually first try I never really get that first try at all there's a lot to be explained there and don't worry I'll go over it again in case that wasn't actually too clear um but there's a lot of camera manipulation and there's a lot of uh links angle and position manipulation to make sure that I'm always in the exact spot that I think I am cuz there's a lot of obviously memorization involved here but there's a lot of also uh you know just general ideas you can see right here I fail this I I'm try I'm trying to actually grab this segment right here but I fail it but because I know generally where I am I'm able to fix it on the Fly and have a couple different backups to make sure that I still do succeed wherein I don't know the physics engine fails me where I have bad timing whether I misremember something Etc um so we save here and we do a really cool thing I don't know if you noticed there but we actually uh take off my shield before saving and this is a really cool strategy developed by Crystal saver I'll talk more on him uh in a second but this guy had the foresight to uh basically come up with this strategy where if whenever I save and I have my shield unequipped I know that when I want to reload that's a manual save that I'm reloading a save that I intentionally made because this game likes to auto save every now and then uh it'll just come up with a random save uh okay cool you know you've picked up a new item let's just randomly auto save here like right here it auto saves after we get the Skyroom I eat that because we don't actually need it um it's just used for positioning and angles so we basically uh you know right there we got an auto save you can see it in the left corner uh when it does that uh so basically uh we know that whenever my shield is unequipped I can always check this if my shield is unequipped then it's a manual save and my if my shield is equipped then it's an auto saave so I know that the auto saave is much less believable uh or you know much less uh sort of trusting of where I am than the actual manual save you'll see here I'm doing some cam manipulation and everything I'll get to that in just a second uh but as you can see here once again we unequip the Shield we manually save and then we re-equip The Shield so then if the game actually Auto saves we know whether or not it's an auto saave or a manual save climbing in this game while blindfolded is also just kind of crazy uh because you never exactly know where you are uh but uh if you do climb you can do a little like Sprint Climb by pressing x uh and so you always know that it takes two x's uh up there and then a diagonal X and then one more X and you're on the top it's normalized movement if you can do do the same consistent strats over and over and over again then you'll always be able to repeat it no matter what uh so in this case uh you just keep walking forward and that just kind of works this construct gives me a lot of issues we pick up these peppers for later because we're about to go into the uh icy Zone but you can see the way that we actually deal with this construct is really interesting because we head into this corner and the construct can't actually hit us in the corner but we know where the construct is in the case that it actually lights its weapon on fire in The Cauldron to the right so I just wait here until I hear that sound CU of him lighting the fire and then I do a spin attack time two to hit him I know he gets up and then generally moves towards me so I just prep another one where I can hit him and then kill him you can see link was looking to the right there so that's way I scope in so I make sure that link is looking forwards So then whenever I press ZL with my shield that link doesn't actually change his camera angle so I know that he's always looking forwards we get the spicy peppers right there because we about to go into the cold section the really cool thing about this is we don't actually have to menu here uh to get to the peppers because Tis of the Kingdom whenever you open your menu next to a cooking pot will always navigate to the item section and a cookable item uh so we are able to just instantly navigate those Peppers to create cold food without having to do any extra uh menuing now we're going to ascend first which is very odd cuz normally the game says to go to ultrahand uh the first shrine of the game but we go to ascend because it's a lot easier uh to navigate the rest of the great Sky Island having that particular Rune uh in our inventory uh we do some cool things here uh just to set uh link up for uh the next segment and this one is one of the segments that gives me the most trouble you can see huge sigh of relief uh that I get uh up here we actually head backwards here uh and then uh we go and try to slide against the corner there's a thing in breath of the wild and tears of the Kingdom called ledge protection if you're holding your Shield out and then going up against a uh ledge it's called ledge production because it won't actually make you fall across the ledge so we always know that you were right along the edge and you're not anything farther or back from it it's another instance of normalized movement you can see right here uh as well we go left and we climb up here now we're going to go 19 up forward and we're against the clock because right now in cold you take cold damage every you know couple seconds of Link being in the cold without any cold production items but we just created that uh cold food which then will give us cold resistance and we always eat it there now you see here link slides and everything and we uh uh look down but that was actually intentional this is a problem segment that we've had to reroute like a couple times because link will actually grab that ledge every now and then and then just like completely ruin the segment we have to reload this is another really peculiar peculiar spot because we try to you know get link into a weird position where he's kind of like stuck in this corner but then we also want him to be slightly to the right because we're about to uh side step twice there and we want him to get caught because we want to be in this exact position to get the construct uh to the left over here because the construct in this route will give us the battery now normally when you play here's the kingdom you go through a long lengthy cut scene of trying to get the battery and there's a whole like mini side quest where you have to uh Power a mine cart and all the stuff but if you just talk to this construct right here in the Ascend segment it'll just give you the battery and then you're good to go this is one of my more favorite segments because it looks so magical when you're doing it uh uh blindfolded uh because now that we have the battery we can activate Zona items and now uh we just uh travel the raft across after hitting it with our sword we're always is going to be in this location so now I listen for the little bump that the raft makes with the end of the riverbank before getting off of the raft it's not an inherently difficult segment but it's just really cool that we get to ride a raft while blindfolded one of the things that I think we can explain right now while we're going up these Cliffs and hopping everywhere is called camera locking and Camera locking is when you do a manual input to change the camera of tear of the kingdom and then move it's pretty simple but it's it has wide reaching consequences because if you play Tear of the Kingdom at any point whatsoever the camera behind link will just dynamically move it'll enter a cinematic mode to make the game seem more adventurous but that is actually horrible for blindfolded movement you can see right uh right about here yeah I moved the camera and that is what we're talking about with camera locking so tears of the Kingdom has a cinematic sort of mode that will uh dynamically move the camera around link and the reason why that's not good for blindfolded speedrunning is because it'll actually affect the distance that link travels so if the camera moves and you tap forward on the d-pad uh well link won't always go forward he'll maybe like curve to the side you can see it uh moving right now this Dynamic camera as we're climbing up because it wants to move below link to really show that he's climbing up the rest of the wall here so camera locking is when we manually do an input for the camera on the right joystick so then the uh game recognizes that oh hey you know what the player wants to control the camera we're not going to do it ourselves and so therefore allows us to move in the way that we want to this is always a fun segment going up because the Roar of the waterfall right here makes it extremely hard for me to actually hear how many hops I'm going with link cuz he he does a little H H whenever he does the uh little Hops and that's how I count of where we're going you can see right here we're doing a little normalized segment to make sure that we always know where we are we grab onto the wall here and then we go into this little corner that acts as a corner so then we know that link is exactly in this position no matter what um and then this segment's a little weird we go five back and then three to the left and then we just like run up uh because running up here no matter what you'll do you'll always make it into this little pocket and this little segment and it's a little Quirk that you discover by just kind of doing it more and more but this segment is really fun this is the second instance though where I save and reload and then because Tis of the Kingdom doesn't like where we save and reload in this spot it'll actually put us in a different place teleporting us a little bit uh as per se just like the beginning segment where we uh crash into the uh Lake save reload it puts us onto the center of the path what this will do if we save and reload is it'll put us on top of the cliff here now this isn't like any time save or anything it's just like more of a convenience thing because uh I found this out in testing that if I try to do that just regularly uh of going one left and five up or all this stuff that and whenever I would reload it would put me in a different spot than I wanted it to and this is different from other speedrunners and other versions of the game I'm currently running this on version 1.0 of TI the kingdom whereas you know this route was routed on version 1.1 the reason why that matters is because it's actually a lot easier to do a lot of the glitches that we're going to do later in the game on 1.0 rather than 1.1.1 there were various things that were patched out that we can just do in an earlier version of the game so then it makes it easier to do while we're blindfolded uh this segment uh coming up we're almost to ascend this is the last major segment uh this segment is uh one that we actually don't really have any plans for this is the segment where we save and then we kind of just hope that we get it and this is a lot of game knowledge coming into effect here some memorization of what to do but then what you do is you want to just kind of run and then hope you make it across uh and you don't get into the river there and then what you specifically know is that the wall is on your right side and you're looking for the part of the wall that isn't ice so if you try to climb this and you hear links slide down because they'll slide down when there's you know ice here uh then you'll know okay cool we're not on this segment of the wall we need to try the find the part of the the wall that is climbable without ice so me knowing that it's probably to the right here we end up finding uh uh the part of the wall so you can see here I'm pretty like okay cool now that we're on this segment we're not slipping and I can actually climb up uh without the ice this is actually extremely rare to get first try and I'm waiting for the part of the run where I fail things this is actually an insane Pace that we're on uh we've already saved six minutes on the table of time and we're about to save a lot more going to the Ascend shrine considering that my next split is at 1 hour and 12 minutes but we're only 27 minutes into the run so this is another segment of like okay cool you can just climb the rest of the wall here but we're going to move into the upper right corner and then we're trying to uh grab the wall yet again to change Link's camera angle slightly so then uh we can actually like prepare ourselves uh to be in the exact position we want after climbing this Cliff uh it's very important because uh there's this little ice to the left here that if you climb it when I initially tried to climb it without doing that whole climb and then go to the upper right corner again you can actually slide down on that icy segment and then not be able to get it so I know I keep saying normalized movement here normalized movement there but it is R like really incredibly important for any blindfold speedrun to know quote unquote where you are at any given point in any given time because uh for example this part right here I have failed so many times where I've actually gone into this little structure but been able to save the speedrun knowing that that is a possibility so then all I need to do is go back to the right a little bit before heading forward right here another thing you'll see right here is but a little movement to the left because I know from experience that even though that's not in my actual notes of my brain of what to do that tree can actually you know be in the way sometimes now another really cool thing is that if you hear the shrine queue here you always know that you're within four hops of the actual Shrine before you can actually get to the shrine right there wow no mistakes through the entire first opening act that's wow oh my god I've never done that before yeah that's crazy so I've actually really actually have never done that before and so you're seeing quite literally one of the most impressive blindfolded runs I have ever completed and not only am I just completing this blindfolded right but like I am speed running like this is the fastest run that I have done while speedr running it it's crazy so we're going to do something really complicated here which is called menu sort do duplication uh where we hold an item midair uh and then we press the Y and B buttons at the same time and what will that do is it'll actually uh duplicate the item in game so you can see here uh that when we uh jump Shield jump we actually have two Zone charges now we do it again we press Y and B at the same time after holding them and then we have now six which is actually kind of incredible we want to get around 15 here for reasons you'll see in just a second um but we uh neutral Shield jump we press hold and then we press Y and B at the same time and then I just you know do that a couple more times and the reason being is you know zai charges uh we only get one um by beating that uh construct at the very beginning and so we want to get more um with it now it sometimes it'll work sometimes it won't so I know I generally have around 15 here but I do a little bit of a safety duplication just in case to make sure that I have slightly more or slightly [Music] less we're getting to our first shrine of four shrines the Ascend Shrine normally you do ultran first but we're doing Ascend because not only is it a very fun Shrine but it will help us navigate the rest of the great Sky Island uh a lot easier than than before because we don't have to climb a lot of those uh giant Cliffs anymore all we need to do is Ascend because this Rune will allow you to go through the ceiling of something uh so then uh you can end up on top of the surface of it uh you'll see in just a second if you haven't seen this room before but no worries this will help us immensely now the thing I like about shrines particularly in the Blindfolded runs are that shrines uh are like a bottled experience if you ever fail something in a shrine you can always reload the auto saap because the autosave will teleport you back to this spot at the very beginning now what we're going to do in the Ascend Shrine to complete it is we're going to go forward until link can't walk anymore you can hear it when he stops walking then we're going to go to the right uh hear some sand get into the corner and we're going to just use the Ascend the really funny thing about this is normally when you're using Ascend you want to make sure that you're underneath an object but because I don't need to look I just know generally where I am I can always use Ascend whenever I want to you'll see us uh camera lock in just a second before we run just to make sure that we uh don't have some Dynamic movement right there and we're going to count link steps up to 17 and then uh do a swing attack to cut both pieces of rope and this is where things go a little bit wrong I only cut one piece of rope and the way that I know I've cut two is I hear two snaps of a rope uh but then I also hear uh the bridge in the distance slam down and part of the issue that we're having here is there's a construct to the left uh that is trying to shoot me uh the entire time while I'm doing it uh doing a lot of damage to me and then ultimately uh probably killing me um but I can't find this rope uh because I immediately just like lost where I was in my mind I generally knew where it was uh but I just didn't know exactly where link was so that's a little unfortunate we get a game over we press continue um and then uh because we're in a shrine and this is the thing I like about shrines we just start again from the beginning of the shrine uh and in this case I do fail sub tricks in the speedrun I want to say uh and tell you guys this this entire run is going to be uncut however uh in the case that I fail a part of the Run uh we're just going to speed things up uh so we're going to do a little bit of a a fast forward until we get back to the part uh like right over here where we uh complete you know the actual winning part of the Run we barely get the the Rope there which is hilarious but I want to show you guys that like this is the full run while still being entertaining and not leaving you guys um to fend for yourselves uh when we have a uh particular spot of the run that we end up failing so I heard the The Bridge fall we get the Ascend and then we go all the way up again until we can't hear anything else so hopefully that kind of makes sense uh I want to make sure that uh this run is shown to you guys as completely legit we can talk about that a little bit later um but we're not cutting anything in this uh if we need to we'll speed it up uh for you guys but it's also very important to know that how I fail uh and how I succeed it's actually possible to get the Ascend again uh onto this little uh platform but unfortunately we didn't make it so we just have to wait until we hear the sound cue of the Ascend working right there press a and then we're good to go uh we then take out our shield and we side step all the way to the left until we can't anymore and then go forwards nice and that's the first shrine of the four that we need to beat uh on the great Sky Island to unlock the rest of the game another thing uh that I think is incredibly important here uh to uh tell you you guys is well I've explained hopping I've explained camera locking and ledge protection but there's actually one thing I haven't really talked about which you might have a question about how I'm just kind of running sometimes versus how I'm hopping other times and the reason being is because in hopping I always know the exact amount of length that I've gone in the exact distance that I've been uh for Hops uh so you're about to see here that we're going to hop 15 times to the right and then four upwards so I always know that I'm going to be in that position at once sometimes we don't run because if I ran there I'd have to either count link steps which is a lot harder or count time which is also a lot harder and so hopping is just an easier way to ensure uh that I know exactly where I am at all times um so we'll hop here but then um there's another example of why we run in certain cases so we hop here until we use Ascend uh we get up here and then you'll see that we run immediately after this way because I know there's a stop to the running soon uh so if we run past this and then we go all the way down this uh ledge and everything we'll stop at a cliff uh or like a wall right in front of us and so I don't have to actually know exactly what the distance is um between hops because I just need to know that I walk forward until I get to this wall here um and then I'm at where I think I at this next segment by the way is probably one of the hardest segments of the entire run uh it is incredibly difficult and I cannot overstate how insane uh the fact that we do this in the speedrun is it's not this segment it's the one right afterwards um but this is why we actually get all of the zai charges and duplicate them before the Ascend Shrine it's because we're gambling yeah it's really cool if you actually open your inventory right next to the uh Gamba spot right over here uh it'll open to the materials part of the inventory uh immediately simil uh similar to the cooking area now the reason why we're doing this is in tears of the Kingdom you can get a bunch of zi devices from one of these uh machines and we want to particularly get all four zai devices from this machine there's four different ones that can drop and we want to get all four we want to ensure that we get all four and that's why we had 15 of them uh that we duped uh we're going to do the extra five here that we did so we have a total of 20 uh and uh afterwards we're going to actually open my inventory one more time because I want to ensure that I don't have any left Inventory management you don't want what you don't need we SC forward to change Link's position and then we're going to get all four you can hear it by the jingle that's two Jingles we're going to pick up a couple more and then there we go three jingles and then the fourth one so now I've ensured that I have all of them similar to what we did with the zonai charge you can actually duplicate zonai devices with something called zonai sort duplication so once you have one of the item you actually have basically infinite of the item which is a really unique thing and a really cool thing with glitches in Te of the Kingdom so this thing coming up right here this segment is probably one of the hardest things of tiar of the kingdom and I am it's it's crazy it's actually insane we're going to do zai sword duplication here to ensure that we have more than one Wing um by navigating uh there pressing sort and then going right one to ensure that you know there's a lot of menu manipulation and tricks to make sure that you're on what you think you're on um a lot of it has to do with sorting but basically if you take out your uh Zone devices uh you hold them and then press Y and B similar to what you did with the item then you'll actually end up uh uh duplicating those wings and we're going to need a lot of them in the future um not right now but this is just a great place to do it hardest part of the Run coming up right here uh in my opinion the hardest part so uh this what we're trying to do right now is we're trying to go to the second Shrine which is the fuse Shrine and in order to do that we're going to take this glider right here in front of of us and we are going to Glide in midair across the entirety of the great Sky Island to the fuse Shrine um and in order for us to do that we need to count to 42 seconds perfectly 5 six this wasn't always the case uh the initial strategy uh that was come up with by Crystal saver was listening to the whoes of the wind uh there was a couple other things where it's like okay you can you know uh count uh basically a bar of music and all this stuff um but what I came up with uh for this part of the strategy is I took a metronome and I set it to 60 BPM and I had it count to 42 um in order to do this now you're going to see in a second that we're going to fail this part of the run and the reason why you know is because I hit this island with the right side of my wing that was close though uh I was like a couple frames off of that first uh Shield bash um I was a little bit late because I knew that um I knew that I was late with the first shield Bash uh so they actually banned metronomes uh because for speedr running Community it's considered a tool assisted speedrun it's an external piece of help and you're blindfolded so it's you know it's a little bit cheap so I was like all right cool that's that's totally fair um that metronomes are banned I I totally get that so I decided to instead count to 42 perfectly as if I was an internal metronome we have to Shield bash at around 7 and 1/2 seconds right here uh in order for link to go a little bit further up on the glider cuz when you Shield Bash link moves forward a little bit so by doing this the glider will slightly turn to the left in an arc um and so do by doing that we'll actually miss the little island to the right here and make it towards the fuse Shrine uh in the far far distance as you can see here so if we count to 42 at the very end of the 42 SEC uh seconds we do two more Shield bashes to ensure that the glider heads downwards you'll see right here that the glider heads downwards uh towards the fuse Shrine so we're no longer turning as much we still are a little bit here but the glider is now headed downwards towards the fuse Shrine and the very interesting thing about this is that we have to be incredibly precise with this that's why we have to count to 42 seconds almost exactly 7 and 1/2 seconds is uh the turning point of the glider the 42 seconds is uh if we actually managed to land the glider or not now uh we're not on the shrine however we are close to it uh and I know with experience that if we land at all near the Shrine we are probably the shrine's probably upper right from us generally in my notes this is literally echolocation um because I'm trying to listen to the game uh on where I am generally so that I can see where the shrine is and you'll see right here that we actually to get the shrine uh indicator which means that we were about four hops away from it uh generally and this is is one of the reasons why we actually have pants on oh up left the audio for the ground segment right here of like uh grass right you know of grass versus the gravel of the shrine right here is actually louder by wearing pants so is a lot easier to listen to uh when you actually have pants on versus when you are naked that's basically first try I'm not even joking that's insane by the way we yeah we that this basically first try which is so insane dude game knowledge I'm telling you holy oh dude the practice is coming in handy a thanks past Derek you're so cool I can't believe we've gotten that down to be so consistent I have to count to 42 seconds perfectly and shield bash on the round seven and a half the pants come in actually for the rest of the Run later and they have an even more important thing uh in the future but for now that's one of the reasons why we actually wear pants during the Run later we actually use it to get to Ganon and beat him but don't worry about that uh right now that comes up later so this is the fuse Shrine which is another really cool thing that was added by tiers of the Kingdom where you can uh get weapons and then you can fuse things to your weapons or fuse things to your arrows and they'll give it different properties and all this and the first thing you'll notice with the fuse Shrine is that we unequip our current weapon uh it's very uh very Niche and very important but once we pick up this new Claymore here which has a lot more durability and uh a lot more things it'll actually automatically equip it so we don't have to do some menuing we walk 13 steps here we use the fuse to uh attach the rock here and that will allow us to break these breakable walls um and in a great and awesome way because we are holding a two-handed weapon uh for this Claymore I'm so glad we picked this thing up uh we can do a new looking strategy instead of like weirdly buffering and Camera locking and everything if you swing and then hold your uh right joystick uh to the right or left or whatever then it'll move links angle without having to move his position uh I'll explain more in a second um but we're going to do something uh really cool so one of the puzzles in this uh Shrine is to aim your bow and then shoot down uh a uh chest that holds a key and by hold by scoping in seven times and then canceling the scope by taking out your bow and then attaching a fire fruit to it it it'll actually make you look up so every single time you Scope with your uh purad it'll look up slightly and so this is only the real consistent way to actually aim a bow and arrow while you're blindfolded is by using your uh purad scope there which is really cool it's the only time we actually use it during the run but um it is uh definitely the most consistent way to do that puzzle and very fast you can see we camera lock here just in case and so we can actually run left without doing any cinematic stuff we open the uh the lock right there we jump back and then we Shield bash a whole bunch of times and that's another thing too Shield bashing it allows you to move incrementally in small uh different ways we're going to use another look right there um and uh it's it's very it's very nice for precise segments uh ladders they actually Auto snap to you and they have a very unique audio queue when you grab onto them uh what we're doing right here is we're going to take out our firef fruit and we're going to drop them we don't need them uh it's thing of inventory management you only want the things that you want to use in your inventory so if you don't need to use firr ever again for the rest of the entire run you might as well drop it so it doesn't clutter up your inventory so this construct is actually no deal whatsoever if you run past it in a certain way it'll never actually hit you cuz you're close enough so you can just break these balls once you uh stop hearing link run and then you uh shimmy over a little bit to the right and then walk forward and that's the entirety of the fuse Shrine very creative very cool one of my favorite ones as well well so that's two shrines out of the four different shrines that we have to complete across the Great sky island now keep in mind in order to get to the rest of the game we have to beat all of the shrines around the great Sky Island uh and we're about halfway through here now let me explain a little bit more about that looking uh sort of weapon swinging uh strategy that we have here it's another way that we use uh to manipulate uh Link's sort of angle and navigate around the world um it's really cool cuz if you take out your weapon and then you you start to swing it and then you input a direction on your directional pad link will just look that way uh pretty much automatically uh and it's a way to do it without actually moving in any way because a lot of the time you'll have to uh shimmy one way or another and it'll move you forward in that direction or this is just a really good way of having link look to the right or left without moving at all so then we know where we are at all times this segment is uh very nerve-wracking uh for me uh you'll see why in a second but we're going to take off our Shield which if you know from saving is very much a no no because if it Autos saves right now we're kind of screwed um and we're going to pick up one of these rushrooms These rushrooms are incredibly important Link in this run will die without these rushrooms we're going to pick up five of them and they're incredibly important for the end of the great Sky Island before we make it to the Overworld I'll explain it once we get there but keep those restrooms in mind as we do it we're going to uh jump left here and fun fact about that little run is you have to run past that uh that like off of that Cliff or else link will slide down that cliff and then there's going to be a whole bunch of weird scoping that you have to do involved so you just run uh so then link you know doesn't fall uh this segment's very nerve-wracking because um we have to take off our shield for the entirety of the segment because if you move forward like we are right now holding ZL and picking up these rushrooms following along the pathway behind this waterfall uh we're spamming a right now and if uh to pick up these restrooms and if we did have our shield on we' just be doing a whole bunch of Shield dashes so we have to take our Shield off in order to do the segment which is very nerve-wracking because if we Autos saave here then we're kind of screwed over we count four rushrooms here for a five uh total and once we get that last one then we're free to hop as we'd like uh to finish off this little Edge segment here once again those rushrooms are incredibly important I cannot overstate it just remember that we have them for later and this next segment is a really cool uh small little indicator of well uh ledge production uh because we're going to walk all the way to the upper right here with ledge production uh to get to a spot that we really want uh it's yet another Corner uh and it sets us up uh to get to the third Shrine which is ultr hand and Ultra hand is probably the first shrine that you grabbed during your playthrough but it's going to be our third uh another way that we indicate where we are and how we do this is we're going to use Ascend here and then just walk forward until we hear the sound cue of Ascend uh activating and then we can just use it and go forward until we have another Corner in which we can stop and save at this is a really good time as well to explain what I'm using to run forward and walk forward because your uh Pro Controller has joysticks which give you a 360° movement uh degree freedom of movement which uh is frankly a lot uh and we want to have consistency normalization we always want to be moving forward when we move forward we don't want to be moving forward and slightly to the right or slightly to the left so uh as we're walking uh towards the next segment I'll tell you that I'm using the controller the 8bit do light uh here it is on screen right now uh and compared to a Pro Controller you can see the the immediate difference from this is that the left and right joysticks don't exist bye raru good to see you bye so rather than having 360° of freedom of movement uh we actually only have eight so we can only go up down left right and then all the uh diagonal directions here which is incredibly important for this run since if we move upwards we're always moving upwards uh we actually use both this controller and the Pro Controller uh we use the Pro Controller later for something else uh which is really cool that we use two controllers during this run uh to actually ensure that we complete this run but we'll we'll get to that when it comes to it we're going to grab this second bow here this bow once again like everything else is incredibly important uh but this bow will allow us to beat Genet uh or at least get to genon um it'll allow us to overload the game in such a way that it'll it will be able to clip through the ground it's not for right now but we're getting it uh right now so then we don't have to get it later it's really cool that uh all of these small things in this uh inventory uh sort of are for the end game and so we can just complete the great Sky Island as fast as possible and just keep going and all this stuff but in picking up these small things like the restrooms uh like the uh Two bows that we have in our inventory The Shield it allows us to do really cool things uh that we wouldn't be able to do otherwise and you're going to see some crazy strats coming up this one segment has actually been rerouted a couple times and this is probably my most practiced part of the Run Tis of the Kingdom has a lot of weirdly angled geometry and an odd physics engine we're not given a lot of tools blindfolded to be able to deal with that remember that consistency is the key to be able to move or do any action while blindfolded and tears of the Kingdom loves to introduce Randomness I have failed this way too many times because what we need to do is we need to look to the upper right and then position link to the upper left and we need to Shield jump across this Gap uh unfortunately we fail it here uh but I'll show you what it looks like uh sped up uh when we actually succeed and shield jumping is uh it's just so hard blindfolded cuz you just have to Vibe it out uh just with experience of timing until you get to this little El Cove and this El Cove is a great explanation of the different sort of walls in tears of the Kingdom because the one to the right the one that we just jumped on is a flat wall but the one to the left is not a flat wall which means that Link's angle will be in different spots depending on small sub pixels sub pixels of where you grab that wall so we align ourselves with the right wall rather than the left wall because it's actually like a smooth uh 90° wall that link can grab onto and we can always know where his location is this next part is one of my favorite ones of the entire run because you'll never expect us to do this during a run uh like at all and this is a little game knowledge coming in here too I I try to Shield jump forward I don't have a shield attached I just back flip back attach my shield and then uh we go Tony Hawk Pro Skater and we rail grind across uh the giant gap of the the great Sky Island yeah so this is actually insane it looks a lot harder than it actually is but the game will automatically uh shift links position to onto the rail like it'll it'll like it'll snap link onto the rail so then we can actually uh rail grind onto it and it doesn't do any Shield durability either so what I'm listening for here is uh for link to be uh Shield surfing for a long time which means that I'm probably at the top of it because it's a flat segment and not upper and then I wait for it to instantly uh cancel which means that I'm at the end of it uh trying to Shield jump against a cliff and that's how you know that you get off of the rail uh and then you can see the ultr hand Shrine is uh right in front of us because we've done that rail grind there's a whole bunch of other things that we could probably do there but that is number one the fastest and number two the coolest it's really neat I thought we can do that it's very rare that you fail it as well uh but it's just so fun that you can uh do something like that we're going to ascend here and this is why we get the Ascend uh Shrine first is because we can do so many cool navigational techniques with it and then we forward and we get to the ultran shrine Shrine number three of four of the great sky island and if you look in the upper left corner we're about an hour ahead of my personal best for the entirety of the great sky island so this is not this is an insane fast run of blindfolded uh tears of the Kingdom so this ultr hand Shrine is just ridiculous so ultrahand is uh a a combination of magnesis and a couple other things four TI the kingdom where you can take uh and manip at objects move them in 3D space but then also glue them together and the entirety of this Shrine is trying to teach you how to do that by making Bridges across giant gaps and then also uh some really different uh constructions that you can make to navigate the entirety of Hyrule uh but you know as we've done with the past two shrines this ultr hand Shrine we're going to blow just wide open uh it's really cool how we do this I keep I feel like I keep saying this um but I I'm so passionate about all of this I I love this so much so we're going to do this and and for the first one you can actually just run Shield jump across the Gap and call it there and then you're good you don't need any bridge to build across it if you time it right and that's all timing blindfolded right there um then you can actually just jump across it this next one is a little bit larger so you can't really do that so we're going to take this slab shove it across to the right side we're going to rotate it a little bit uh so it's a little bit of an angle and then we're going put it into the AL Cove then and we're going to run and we're going to jump across making our own little small Bridge uh to get across the Gap it's such a really cool unique creative solution uh that we actually just don't have to build anything with ultrah hand but we can manipulate the objects in this 3D space so we can do it regardless we're going to turn around a little bit and we're going to head to the last puzzle now the last puzzle has you making like a weird Gondola kind of thing it's like a hook across a rail that you can ride on uh so so then you can make it you know to the end of the shrine but we're going to say uh no to pretty much any rules in this Shrine and we're going to do something similar to what we did last time we're going to grab this item we're going to head all the way off to the right we're going to keep holding uh right and then we're going to rotate this and because we're already faced forward we can move forward hold ZL so we don't fall off of the uh top of this ledge here and then we're going to instant Shield jump to get onto the grind Rail and then make it to the very end of the shrine without having to build literally anything it's so creative and it's so satisfying to pull off too if you just run here uh you'll be able to make it to the end of ultrahand and that's the third of we've completed the uh third Shrine of the game what we're going to be doing is we're going to be heading over back to the Temple of Time that very first structure uh at the beginning of the game uh to essentially uh turn in our spirit orbs be like all right we've done it Ru is then going to tell us hey actually there's the fourth Shrine and all this so we just need to complete this uh Story part uh and everything um the other thing that I do want to say about all of this is if you are interested in all of the effort that I did put into this uh I streamed all of it live on twitch.tv/ pointcrow uh and it's all available on my other YouTube channel pointcrow vods where I upload every single uh YouTube every single stream that I've ever streamed ever uh for the past four and a half almost 5 years uh now uh so go check that out we do actually up failing this um one of the reasons is because I didn't end up pressing Ascend uh fast enough and then I uh went down the cliff so we'll just like speed that up uh right to where I do succeed it yeah my uh uh Ascend uh Rune there didn't activate when I wanted it to so then I jumped down the cliff I'm assuming I tried to save it by like turning around and some weird stuff but eh what can you do uh so then we get to send uh there and we uh make it up um so uh basically if you want to see any of that um it is literally all of the practice all of the fails everything I ever talk about with all of this in more details uh the poker VOD channel is uh perfect for you but you get a commentator run for me uh right now um so I I I always joke about this part because I'm like oh it's the hardest segment of the run and it's because whenever I did this part of the run I would save right after opening the Temple of Time um because I now have all three shrines um hardest part of the run here we go and so what I would do is that I would run forward and then press a and then I would save again there it is nice we got it you walk forward and press a oh my God he's crazy I I I run that joke every time I I don't know why I it's it's only funny for me nobody's ever laughed at that joke except for me but you know what sometimes you got to make yourself laugh you know if you don't make yourself laugh then why are you even telling the joke um but yeah so basically in this case uh we go up to the tier and it gives us the fourth Rune of the game we have ultran fuse and Ascend and now we have recall and recall will allow us to take objects in the game and re wind time it's like a uh upgraded version of stasis in uh breath of the wild um so we can move an object and then press recall and it'll move back towards you and we're going to immediately use this and a bunch of the other runes and things that we have gained over the course of the run to uh absolutely skip this puzzle which is really cool so this puzzle is a bunch of moving platforms that we have to time correctly with some uh creative jumps and all this stuff but we we don't actually have to do that since we're blindfolded we can't really do that the normal way so we're going to take out one of the gliders that we duplicated earlier we're going to take out ultr hand and then we're going to sort of hover it over the entire puzzle we're just going to do this right so we're not going to use these platforms and everything uh we're going to then take the glider put it back down wait for that sound to make sure it's on the ground do two forwards up and then we're going to use the recall Rune that we just got to recall what we just did with ultr hand by moving it so then the glider will move us above the entire puzzle and we can just uh Shield jump and skip it all uh which is it's so creative it's so cool so we don't even have to do any platforming we can just use a creative mix of ultr hand and recall and then the glider that we got beforehand to uh go over the puzzle and then now that we've completed that we can get to the rest of the Temple of Time over here uh this little part is like a little like segment where you put your hands on the door and then the door is like oh you don't have actually enough Hearts you need to complete the last TR trying butun fact you don't even need to attempt it you can just press the B button instead of pushing um it's a little speedrun save uh but really fun and really creative and we are uh really fast at this one of the reasons why I love this run in particular is there's so many cool things involved with it that I can just explain new mechanics and new problems that we have to solve over and over and over again as we continue on forwards and it's just so unique and so cool because some of the strategies that are coming up they get even crazier so one of these things that we have to do right now is we have to do our first map menuing we're going to save real quick just in case but we actually have to go into the map because we just unlocked it and we have to menu back to the room of Awakening at the very beginning of the game because that's where raru says that the fourth Shrine is so we zoom out and then I know that if we go all the way down uh and past all of the uh little little blips audio cues and then we go back up the first audio queue that we here is the room of Awakening and then we can teleport to it properly and the other thing is confirmation right so we can do all of this stuff but what if I teleport wrong well I know because once we actually teleport there we're going to immediately hear some water and then the cogs that we started at the very beginning of the game and that's how you know where you're at now this is another really fun thing that we do in order to get to the recall Shrine is um uh this is a really inconsistent but for some reason I get it like 100% of the time is we just kind of uh run across here and jump and we just keep jumping onto the the Sledge um it's really unscientific there's no like really method or Madness to it I just kind of send it uh and then uh we use a send to get up there I it's really just a unique thing that I can do I I don't know why I don't know why it's consistent for me but not anybody else but I can just kind of jump across uh those Pebbles uh on the lake and everything and then Ascend and then we're good to go um so it's just a really funny sort of gig we are running on 1.0 and is a lot more inconsistent on other versions but that's how it is so now what we're doing is just we're headed towards the the recall Shrine using the uh sort of tunnels to guide us uh as it were until we hear the shrine sound CU once again this is normally where uh you would get it uh and then uh what we're going to do is uh just head towards and activate the shrine now the particular thing that we're going to do because recall is very finicky is we're going to actually get the recall Rune before we go into the shrine itself we don't need we're on the Ascend Rune because we just got it but we get the recall Rune because this entire Shrine is timing based and uh the only thing that the timing starts is that when link enters the shrine uh there's a bunch of different WFTS that fall down waterfalls and uh go across Rivers but if we enter it and skip the cut scene immediately then we can just go forward and get onto the first raft without having to do anything now the way I count this and how uh long to have recall 1 2 3 4 2 2 3 4 3 2 3 4 4 2 3 4 we do 10 10 bar counts and then I hop two times hey you know the little you know band skills from middle school have come in right we wait for the second uh raft to drop once you hear that sound CU right there we walk forwards and we do the same thing said we count 15 bars and then we jump eight times afterwards uh it's it's a very weird sort of situation but it is very timing based uh and it's cycle based as well so if we ever fail this we have to restart the entire Shrine but like we do with uh all the other shrines but we know that uh if we skip the main cut scene then we can actually get on this first cycle right over here uh it's a very interesting Shrine uh but very very cool this upcoming uh sort of area is also really neat too uh so this is the little uh clock segment as you can see here uh when both of those hands on the clock uh are the same it unlocks the door so what I start doing is I start jumping up and down about 16 times now once I'm done with that 16th time then I activate recall because I know that I'm exactly on that time where I can stop them together and then the door will uh go back down the reason I do that specifically is because I have some slight controller delay in my setup that was so [Music] smooth and then and then also well wow I I have some poor re uh reaction timing the best recall I've ever had I think actually that's crazy yeah you guys are witnessing uh the best run I have ever done blindfolded it was a really smooth recall we are an hour and 10 minutes ahead of my uh you know my other my other uh attempt here which is really neat it's really cool so that's the fourth Shrine done of the great sky island so that is the entire uh all the things in the great sky island that we need we just need to head back to the Temple of Time to Leave the great Sky Island uh get that story cut scene and then we are free to go to the Overworld in which we need to get a couple things before we get to go to Ganon and I will tell you all of that once we get to it first off before we go anywhere we need to get out our portable pot that's one of the other things that we got from the zonai Gamba deicing uh that we got beforehand so we're going to uh Shield bash five times so we can get close to the uh cooking pot and now we're going to make uh food with our five rushrooms that we got before you remember those things that creates a hasty mushroom skewer uh which gives us speed up and I know that sounds weird I mean it's a speedrun because we you know so we need to go faster but the speed up will actually prevent us from dying later uh we're going to do another menuing all we need to do is go up uh until we get to that first uh little little ping right there and there we go and now we can go back to the ultrahand shrine and once we're at ultrahand we can head back to uh the Temple of Time with all that so this is like where everything starts to be cascading right all of the things that we had before and all the things that we gained before are now starting to be used those rushrooms uh that portable pot uh we're going to um get a a whole bunch of uh other uh materials as well but we're using a lot of the runes that we've gotten and it all becomes uh kind of insane we're going to start now glitching the game too um in just a second um where we kind of break this game uh wide open uh as it were on our way uh to finish the rest of the great Sky Island I also want to uh flash on screen here all of my notes uh that I have had to memorize for this entire run uh of them uh there's about like H I don't know like 1,200 lines of notes uh with several uh maybe like three 4,000 inputs or something uh that I've all written down U I memorized this is my crowning achievement I've memorized those in about a week maybe a little bit less um but it took me a couple months uh two months to uh really get the execution down and all of the backup strats and everything that we've had before um I do the same mistake that I did beforehand which is hilarious we'll speed up to get to the uh spot that I succeed at [Music] it so I memorized all that it took me a little bit for the backup strats and everything else uh and I'll explain how I actually memorized all of this because I have a weird brain thingy uh my brain is is literally wired differently uh to to make it really easy for me to memorize long strings of numbers uh and uh instructions but we'll get to that in the a second uh so I I walk a little bit too far over here um and I end up falling off uh this thing so I have to reload uh my save file here this is one of the cases where I know what my auto save is uh so then I can actually uh not get a not have to go all the way back to my manual save I know that once I get that Ascend uh all the way up to the Temple of Time then whatever it automatically Auto saves right there so then I can always just uh jump forward and then go to the left uh to get to the temple time uh and this is one of those cases where it's very interesting the pathing here because the Temple of Time door is already open so because of that we don't have any automatic segment that the game uh places Us in just by opening a door uh it doesn't Place Us in um any normalized spots so we have to create our own normalization so we go across that uh railing and then we jump onto this little wall we hop once over and then we're going to do the exact same thing that we did before to get across this uh little puzz the only issue being that we didn't have that save beforehand so we're slightly um in a different uh spot we're going to take out the glider do the ultra hand do the recall and uh send it while this is going uh I want to say a huge shout out and give a huge shout out to Crystal saver uh he is the one who created this route that I'm currently running he was the first one to beat tears of the Kingdom blindfolded uh and he has helped out uh immensely uh with the routing and execution of this run uh for it U there's about four runners of Tears of the Kingdom blindfolded speedr running uh the first one being Crystal saver who completed it um I want to give a huge shout out to Livy uh who was the second one uh and helped a lot with routing uh on my version of te of the Kingdom which is 1.0 uh and then I want to give it another shout out to uh player five we failed this so don't worry we're going to speed this up in a sec um to player five who created a full new route uh for t the kingdom blindfolded which uh just shaved off a ton of time uh this is the older route uh but this is also just incredibly interesting and I cannot stop talking about it so all we got to do now after uh getting these uh this second puzzle uh once again is we need to uh talk to the little prayer Shrine uh at the very end of this entire segment to get our last uh piece of heart so we have three hearts right now we need four Hearts after completing all four shrines uh we got four pieces of heart po Spirit blessings uh to gain that last heart so then we can actually um exit the rest of the great Sky Island um and we're going to be getting a couple uh other things before we go to ganet and yes we are going to do all of those things of uh beating Ganon um becoming Invincible uh doing a whole bunch of glitches um that is coming up the things that we have to get uh first and foremost we have to get a topaz we have to get a faery and then we have to get a steering stick and those are all incredibly important to be able to beat this game and we're going to be immediately going to Ganon essentially after we complete the great skot Island no dungeons nothing so we're going to hop over here um do some more normalized movement uh grab this we do actually have to hold it this time if you press B then you do fail it um but it'll take away our hearts and all that and this has to be one of the this is literally the fastest run that I have ever done uh for tears of the Kingdom blindfolded great Sky Island I ran this before in uh ladwig's fast 50 speedrunning charity event and uh it was really neat uh because I that was my first time ever doing a live Marathon speedrun uh in front of like a live audience and everything uh and I managed to do it uh Linka 7 was uh one of the people commentating and helping out with all of the uh sort of explanations for all this but hopefully I can uh do a little bit more of an explanation of the great sky island for those of you guys who are interested and then also do the rest of the game because it's not just great Sky Island we're doing all of it um this next segment here is relatively easy it is probably the second easiest segment of the entire run where you walk forward you wait for link to uh fall twice walk forward again and then you press Ascend until you get the uh little uh audio input right there and then you you go up and then you do it one more time for the second segment of here it just you know the the the final time of uh tears of the Kingdom trying to give you a little bit of a tutorial of okay this is how you do it and it's really funny I almost fell off there this is one of the first first times I'm actually watching my own run back cuz I don't look at my cuz I did it like blindfolded so oh I was also on the altar that's really funny um this is one of the first times you know uh so it's really funny to see what I did blindfolded as cited now commentating it so that's a 1 hour and 22 minutes uh of of tear of the Kingdom great Sky Island blindfolded we're going to save here real quick uh and then we're going to immediately use that Hasty food that we cooked up uh and that Hasty food is going to save us uh because I can't see the game I'm blindfolded I think that's obvious by now but it'll give us a little bit of a speed boost right there so you can see that we ran off of the great Sky Island uh towards here and we can't really move at all once we're falling but specifically that small amount of added movement forward will ensure that when we land we're going to land in a body of water cuz otherwise if we just ran normally or walked off we would fall on land and then link would die and then we wouldn't be able to get off the great Sky Island keep in mind we don't have any glider like you would at the end of breath of the wild cuz you need to do a little side quest to get said glider and then also uh we have no uh ability to know where the body of water is so getting that uh and using that Hasty food from the rushrooms that we got earlier is just so important for us to even just make it to the Overworld in general um also getting the Hasty food will allow us to run a little bit faster cuz we have speed up up currently and now let me explain while we're running uh one of the reasons why I can actually even just memorize this insane uh run in the first place uh the first thing is U well you'll see me running a little bit here um uh just just just uh holding the B button this is a speedrun so we are trying to run a little bit faster uh but let me explain a little bit of how my brain does memorize this so my brain's kind of built a little bit like weird uh it's like a rare neurological sort of condition called synesthesia uh I kind of discovered that I had this um a little bit ago and it was definitely confirmed by uh a recent video of mine I guess two years ago where I did breath of the wild great Plateau blindfolded and I tried to explain this to you guys as well and then you were like oh this is exactly what it is I got it checked up by doctors and they're like this is exactly what you have so I have synesthesia it's a um I have two forms of it the color graph theme synesthesia and then also uh I have uh spatial uh cesia which is really cool because uh the way it works is uh synesthesia is where your neurological Pathways uh and your sensory sort of pathways are kind of like overlapped with other ones so for example if I hear or sorry if I see or think of uh like a number or a letter or word or a concept or something like that it is also associated with that of a color so that's color graphine synesthesia um so it's very like interesting because in this way while we're sort of uh you know doing the route and everything in this way uh you know the route kind of is a feeling so I'll be like okay I need to run up to this wall and then go 3x uh to go all the way up Shield bash 2x Shield bash and the only reason why I know how that is is because it gives me a certain feeling and it's like a splash of color in my mind of how it works I don't know exactly how else to explain that it's very difficult to like tell you so one two three you'll see we Shield bash here we go two up we Shield bash again um it's very hard to explain to somebody how your brain works and how you think uh it's like you know trying to explain to somebody with aphantasia uh that you can actually picture an apple in your mind uh or someone who doesn't have aphantasia that um people who have aphantasia can't even think of uh what an apple looks like they don't have any mental imagery um uh in their mind so we're actually going to fail this uh I'll explain exactly what we're doing there in a second um but we're going to fail it because uh there's some sty enemies there I'll explain that in a second as well uh after I finish with the synesthesia um so I want to make it very clear as well that like this is kind of me opening up to you guys you know um I don't really talk about this too much uh or anything because I get very nervous about it but I want to make it also very clear that this isn't something where it's like oh in middle school I Associated math with red because I had a red binder uh that's not it at all and actually kind of like minimizes it like a ton uh it's more like it's just like how you think it's it's a feeling it's it's just like what it is and um it just it makes me nervous cuz it's like that's that's not what it is it sounds like what that that's what it is but it's not it's like the association of it it's a feeling that you get it's I think the best way I can do it so it's like it's not even like if I see the color like the number two it's like red it's like no no no no no it has the concept of the color of red I don't know how else to put that but that's what it is anyways the other thing too is that like if you have synesthesia and everything here's one here's my one greatest fear uh in life you know let let me tell you guys that what you know oh god um this is really me opening up um but uh with Synthesia wait one second okay so what we're about to do here is another uh way that we can manipulate the camera behind link is if we open up a recall and look to the right and then we scope in to make sure that link uh Link's position changes that's called like um it doesn't really have a name or anything but we use we recall in certain areas so then we can actually make slight adjustments uh past the 8° of movement that link has uh with the 8bit do uh to ensure that uh we actually can look you know and head towards the direction of the shrine here we kind of mess it up a little bit but uh that's kind of what uh we use recall for uh occasionally it's another really cool Strat that we use uh for angles but yeah so greatest fear let's talk about that with synesthesia is that if you have synesthesia um I ask that you don't share how uh it like like what yours is kind of like because uh with my color graphine synesthesia I'm very protective of it um and I don't want to hear what anybody else's is because I'm so afraid that that'll affect how I think because I'm afraid that mine will start mending like melding with others um and I really like how I think and it's just it's maybe an irrational sort of fear but that's how it is I don't know how else to put that I guess this very conceptual I apologize but yeah so that's that and then I also have uh like uh spatial sequence uh sort of synesthesia where um you know uh some months of the year some weeks uh years they're not just like Concepts in my mind I mean it still blends with color graphing Synthesia but they're actually like places in 3D space so like uh uh you can see it actually in my breath of the wild BL folded video where we beat the great Plateau I sort of tried to explain uh that there and I'll put the images like on screen right now um wait actually I'll put it after this boar we stop here after we hear the boar and the boar heads past you I kid you not you have to stop there for the boar and if you don't he'll hit you and you have to reload I have failed this segment too many times to that guy anyways here's the uh uh sort of synesthesia spatial sequence things uh for how I tell time in my head uh so I think that's pretty cool but that's how I kind of memorize things because I get a feeling a different feeling associated with it so it's very easy for me to memorize large numbers and things like that all right so we're at The Shrine next um and we're actually going to get the shrine but we're not going to do the shrine the reason being is that it actually changes our camera location to be looking directly at The Shrine that's another degree of normalization so then we can uh sort of get that area uh get a and we'll see it later for a map manipulation I'll show you that later um but then we can actually save in a spot that we know where we at and we can go and head towards our first thing remember once we're in the Overworld we have to get three things the topaz the fairy and the steering stick the first thing we're going to grab is the topaz and that's going to allow us to do damage to Ganon you'll see what I mean by that um much later in the Run um we're going to get invincible we're going to be a walking nuke uh we're going to be able to clip through the ground this is all the things that'll allow us to do it and the funny thing is here is uh these sty enemies keep appearing you might be like wow how do you navigate these sty enemies and the answer is I've never dealt with them before uh at all whatsoever which is really really funny um I've never dealt with uh style enemies uh during during this i' I've I've never okay I've never been this fast so because I've completed the great sky island in record time for me in an hour and 22 minutes normally I'm a little bit slower which means that it would be closer to daytime right now rather than nighttime so style enemies normally wouldn't have actually appeared yet um or they would have appeared beforehand and it would be daytime right now uh so I'm actually dealing with st enemies for the first time because I'm too fast uh you know oh God he's too fast as a speedrunner what's he going to do but the thing is I learned something very cool during this run of speedrunning uh uh blindfolded is that if you actually encounter a style enemy part of the way through the run and then you reload your save the style enemy after like facing them battling them you only have to defeat them won't appear again if you reload that save so you'll see right here uh that we uh you know uh we make it uh to the Hops and everything and as we go forward the style enemies just like don't reappear they're just not there anymore for some reason which is a really cool uh sort of uh thing though I just discovered and we make it to this wall we just stop and then we do uh another thing with ultr hand where we get this particular chest out of the ground we lift up after grabbing uh it lands we go forward we press a uh and then we get the topaz and that's the first of the three items that we need uh before we go to Ganon uh at the very end of the game and trust me uh you were not prepared for how we get this fairy uh because the topaz is like okay you travel across highy rule it's like all these kind of basic uh things and all this no no no no no the way we get the fery is ridiculous and it's one of the hardest segments of the Run uh so then we're going to do some uh map uh navigating where we go to the sky we're going to go down a little bit slight to the right and then down again and then uh that indicates that we're going to be at the fuse Shrine um it's just a that's a small little uh sort of thing to get to fuse it's not too much there's no real uh way to get to fuse other than that so uh yeah it's really cool too uh you can once after uh after teleporting to a shrine you can actually tell which Shrine that you're at if you've done it enough uh based on the fact that at fuse you'll hear that there's slight uh slight water to the side and a nice little breeze um we're about to come up uh against one of the hardest segments of the entire run which is a fall damage cancel in Te of the Kingdom they're very easy in breath of the wild but they're very difficult in Te uh so we're going to use our call uh to look slightly um uh to the left here and then scope in to change links uh angle so it looks directly where we're looking as a camera and then we're going to fall off the island uh and try to do a fall damage cancel and the way we do a fall damage cancel is just it's so much harder than breath of the wild it it's it's really really difficult the way that I determine where to stop diving is the background music and I I'll boost that we're waiting for a baah right there uh and so now I would normally yeah I failed the first time don't worry it's one of the hardest tricks in the Run okay don't don't don't worry too too much about it but we wait for the blah and then and then we uh start the trick to do the fall damage cancel all and the tri is incredibly difficult it's not frame perfect but it's it's hard uh we uh here we go I'll just show you I'll just show you how we do it here so we press B and then ZR to go into bullet time and then we wait for the shrine sound CU to indicate that we are close enough to the ground where we can actually begin the trick in that case then we hold the L button and before the menu pops up we want to press y so then we start doing a jump attack uh in midair so you'll see right here and then we uh try to change our Shield put it off and then press R then B really fast and then that will cancel our fall damage and we make it to the very end that's an incredibly difficult trick uh to do and a fun fact about that is I actually don't really know how to do it sided uh I uh fail it a lot of the time when I'm sighted but I get it a lot when I'm blindfolded just because I've practiced it blindfolded enough U the other thing too is uh you know we want to head to the left and go forward until we hit a path now now uh the funny thing about this is that 90% of the time you'll hit a tree uh it could be any one of those trees in the forest because you have a variable distance uh and a sort of landing area that you'll have based on where you start your uh bullet time uh for when you fall off of the dive so uh the way that you sort of counteract uh falling into getting into a tree is that you just move slightly to the right or to the left uh in this case we choose to move slightly to the right and then we just walk forward and that's how you kind of get out of that obstacle so just knowing something like that isn't something that you can write down in your notes for the route but something you can do with experience and this part of the run is crazy this is what I've been kind of hinting at U since the beginning one of the things is that we're going to be using a second controller for this again if I and the second controller is our Pro Controller so we've been using the 8bit do light the entire time because of the uh dual d-pads we're using a Pro Controller and this case and the reason why we're using a Pro Controller is because the Pro Controller has amiibo support I know so we're using the young Link amiibo uh to summon aona y here bear with me bear with me it makes a lot of sense so we reconnect the apid controller CU that's all we need the Pro Controller for we're going to use it later for something else we're going to get a pona we're going to mount a pona and then use the scope again to move a pona forward and something you might not know about tears of the Kingdom or breath of the wild is that if you get a horse and then you move along a pathway the horse will automatically path down that pathway uh so I actually am not I'm only pressing a button here just to make the horse go you can even see I'm I'm lifting up my hand cuz I I'm only pressing a button on my controller it'll automatically go along um and travel across Hyrule and that will happen for any game with any horse the reason why we use a ponent with the amiibo is to ensure that I don't have to catch a horse cuz that's a little bit more variable and the Amo just has one available already with Max uh friendship pretty much and high speed this thing I believe the horse has uh uh five speed uh stat uh to it we're actually this is not the last part where we used uh two controllers where we have to use the Pro Controller we're about to come up to the next part because this fairy split is crazy um there's so many uh cooler strats that are coming up uh as well uh I bet you didn't even think we got a horse in this uh but look at us now we we do have one um now you might be asking how do you know when to stop on the horse right cuz it automatically pass automatically keeps going and I keep like hitting the Spurs every now and then um about four three or four times until I hear them recharge uh right here and then I'll use them again uh just to speed up um but the way that I know that when to stop is when we hear an audio queue that we have entered outskirt stable cuz this is where we're going to get the fery so here's outt cable and then we hear one two three four five six trots and then that's where we know that we are generally lined up uh with the actual stable itself because we want to talk to the stable guy next now I know this is like how do you get the fairy right like where where do you get the fairy here the fairy is underneath the stable and so we need to go down into the well uh after talking to uh the stable guy the reason we need to talk to the stable guy in particular and I'm kind of lining myself up here I kind of make some Stakes of my position but I know generally where the stable guy is so I'm able to uh sort of save this but the reason we talked to the stable guy and we'll speed this uh part up a little bit too is because we want to board the horse we want to board a pona and then take out a pona and then board a pona again and then take out a pona and the reason for that is so a pona always appears in the same spot next to the stable cuz if you take out a horse the horse will be in that same location every single time and once again with normalization strategies uh to know where things are exactly all the time everywhere is that's just that's just important because we'll be using aona um not only for travel but then just to have some spots where we know where we can save uh there's a lot of dialogue here so we'll speed it up and everything uh but you know that's why we have aona uh and that's why we're actually talking to the stable guy in particular nice so as you can see here uh once we turn around uh with a little bit of a recall jump you take out recall uh you uh you take out recall you hold the the right button and press X so you do a little recall jump right there we don't use that too much um until the uh final fight we'll talk about that later but you can see opponent's to the right there so if we move to the to the right press a uh to mount opponent opponent will always be in that exact spot so we know our exact location in Hyrule at all times right now and we are free to save so then if we ever need to reload our save keep in mind our last save was all the way back uh before we got aona then we can do it now uh so now that we have that all situated and we know exactly where we are um we can go get our second of three items in the Overworld to make sure that we can have the ability to begin it and that's the ferry so the ferry is located in the well underneath the uh stable all we need to do is move all the way to the left uh hop all the way to the left as much as possible and we'll end up into the and I I kid you not this is one of the most stressful parts of the run the reason being not the most stressful that's coming up this is one of the most stressful parts of the run because there are so many things that can go wrong here and it just run ruining uh if you scare away the fairies uh it's over it's just completely over uh I've had uh a couple runs where I've uh accidentally picked up a frog instead of a fairy I've had a couple runs where I dropped my topaz accidentally there's so many things that can go wrong specifically with menuing in inventory that this has me on edge uh it's it's really it's really really anxiety inducing and very very stressful so here uh is uh where we're going to now uh use our uh the second instance um we're saving here manually save here's the second instance where we use a Pro Controller uh because the Pro Controller has something that the APO doesn't you can see right here we Crouch so the Pro Controller has um R2 sorry the Pro Controller has L3 and R3 which are uh the buttons that you get from uh pressing down on the joystick uh with your uh your controller uh the apido because it has two d-pads doesn't actually have that uh you know thing U you can see right there yeah right there the the the the Frog if you press a too fast you will get the Frog uh we here a fairy to the right so we head on over there we get the fairy and we're good to go uh but uh we need to have the ability to crouch and so that's why we use the Pro Controller there that's the last time we're actually going to use our second controller for the Run uh now this is like still nerve-wracking because I got the fairy right but I don't know for sure if it's the fairy it could be a frog it really I know it sounds weird but in my mind it could be a frog because if we pressed a too early it could be that so the way we determine whether it's a frog a fairy or topaz is I try to eat it that's so strange but the game will like allow you to eat a fairy but it won't allow you to eat a topaz uh it will also kind of allow you to eat a frog um which is kind of also weird but we drop the fairy there I I listen for the twinkle and I hear the twinkle so I'm like all right it's probably a fairy uh so what I try to do again is I try to um do a more and more because well I really want to make sure I've had two runs fail uh to the point where I get to the very end of the game and I'm like all right cool I I can't wait to face Ganon and then I realize that you know instead of I have my topaz ready and then I take out my fairy to use it and then I hear a ribit and I'm like God damn it that's not a fairy it's a frog then I have to reset the entire run there was another one uh too where I thought I had a frog I was like all right cool I drop my topaz instead of dropping the Frog run uh runs at the very end about to begin I I can't I can't run it so I'm trying to make sure uh and one of the ways I make sure is by duplicating fairies here so the same way we R duplicated uh uh zai charges at the very beginning of the game uh next to ascend we're doing the same thing with fairies so now we have eight fairies uh in our inventory that sounds like a fairy yeah if it sounds like a fairy it tastes like a fairy and it seems like a fairy it might actually be a fairy topaz probably ah hey you there's two things I want in this game the game doesn't allow you to eat topaz and the game doesn't allow you to pet dogs I got it Nintendo in the next Zelda installment give me one of them so uh now that we're done in this area we're going to use our Ascend run uh so we get to a very particular spot um and we try to jump a whole bunch of times so then we can actually get Ascend uh so then we can actually leave the well with our fairy and our uh topaz uh so these are the two very important things we haven't split yet we haven't done our time because I like to uh Split For Fairies once we uh are at like an actual save point just to ensure that we do have the fairy in our inventory cuz I'm like mostly sure by now uh but you can never be too careful uh so this is very interesting as well so we get up uh to the uh surface and I'm like not too sure that I'm actually located in the place that I think I am because it took me a lot longer to uh do Ascend than I'm used to uh because what ended up happening is if you jump seven times I know this is going to sound so strange if you jump seven times when you're next to the crystal you should be able to use Ascend immediately but it didn't work first try for me here so I'm very concerned that where I'm at in the game isn't where I should be and rightfully so because aona is not in front of me so what I do here is I strategically reload because I want to make sure that I am where I am if you have low confidence in a blindfold Speed Run of where you're are like where you are at this at the time uh then you might be failing uh so what I do here is I reload and we do the entire fairy segment again trying to make sure that I have all these fairies we'll speed that up because it takes a little bit here but that's also just incredibly important to know that uh a lot of this is confidence-based you'll see what I mean in just a second uh when we appear out of the Ascend spot uh and opponent is essentially right in front of us so we're going to head to the left here and you can see opponent is right there and so I have a high degree of confidence uh after I uh Mount aona I can hear the H and I know exactly where I am once again in the game so I can save confidence that I have fairies and I have topazes and I'm good to go we have what we want okay so now we have the topaz we have the fairy we have to head to the third thing which is the steering stick now the topaz and fairy will make us become a walking nuke and then also Invincible we'll get to that in a sec but the steering stick specifically will allow us to clip through the ground then we can actually access Ganon and then do some weird other funky sort of glitches uh later so our goal right now is to head to the steering stick and the way we do that is to go to the right um because this uh sort of area branches off to either the left or the right uh and we want to go to the right towards the guda desert cuz that's where the closest and nearest steering stick is it's also one of the reasons why we got the fery over here is because of that so if we actually just like nudge the horse just a little bit and like walk forward then we can actually like sort of guarantee that we're on this other path now I say guarantee and then somehow we still mess up so if you don't actually get onto the path or or like enough onto the path your horse won't actually uh sort of you know stick to it or it won't like magnetize to it and uh so then you get something like this where you try to make your horse uh like sort of like fall off the cliff but no worries um it takes us a little bit of some efforts um and uh uh we eventually you know reload and and and try again in which case we actually end up uh successfully turning to the right and then going a little bit forward towards the towards the actual pathway in which case it does uh autosave and make sure that we're actually on the right part of the path once again like on the way to the pathway to the outskirts stable uh the horse sticks to the path and we can continue going on now there's actually one the other reasons why we go here is because uh we get access to a small little um new area called a mini stable on the way over and that mini stable is crucial for map navigation in the future after we get the steering stick we're going to be using our little sort of um new discovery of the mini stable to navigate us back to uh the area where then we can get to go to gon um but hey no worries about that we're getting a little bit ahead of ourselves this part's a little Samy as the a little bit before however this is just the beginning of the end uh because this latter half of the entire run goes from oh wow that's really cool that you got a horse and you're doing all this stuff to oh my God I cannot believe that you just did that blindfolded uh I've been waiting so long uh and like kind of hinting at it for the entirety of this run uh but it's it gets crazy um one of the cool things about uh this particular section is that uh as long as you just like head towards here uh this grudo lady will get you into a cut scene stop you say hey you can't actually go past here um but then puts our horse in a certain spot in which case we can jump off and then save because she'll always put our horse in this exact same spot similar to just like a regular cut scene uh which is a great normalized piece of movement so then if we ever fail this next segment we can go and reload this spot where we know exactly where we are and so uh if you guys remember during your uh casual play through um this is kind of a nightmare to uh to navigate uh but for some reason uh if you are blindfolded and you have a correct route it's actually relatively easy um this has been rerouted like a couple times because of uh rough terrain and then also some uh funky little things for example uh you'll see in a second we have to get up a couple stories uh in a building to access the steering stick and we used to do a a cool little segment where we used the uh glider like we did uh with the the cogs and everything with the recall to do it but now we actually do something a little bit differently uh where we head inside and then do a little funky sort of maneuvering uh with some hops some skips and some jumps um which was actually such a huge uh time save and then also a little bit um uh a little bit easier to to manage so you can see here we tried to get into this little corner right here we don't actually jump onto it we don't really grab onto it uh too much uh and then from here we can access uh the the upside uh of of this little area as you see it's like very barely there um and then to our right is should be the steering stick uh once we head over there and the steering stick is the pretty much the last thing we need uh with our concoction to go to gon um which is a fairy which is a topaz we actually need those two bows as well um the uh The Shield the pants everything that we've been Gathering up to here is exactly what we need to finish the game uh nothing more nothing less so now that we have the steering stick we finally uh have everything we need uh so what we're going to do right here right before we go to Ganon is we're going to make sure uh that we have five fairies and we have five topazes uh we don't definitely need to do it right now it's kind of a little bit of a safety Strat but what we're going to be doing eventually is we're going to be duplicating uh pretty much uh both of those items into Oblivion uh so when I say oh we're going to become invincible um I mean that we're going to duplicate so many fairies that we're virtually it's virtually impossible for us to die like we're going to be duping like 100 200 fairies 100 200 topazes uh as well um because topazes uh which you'll see in just a little bit are how we become a walking nuke uh so you can see here we're just I'm just making sure that I have five fairies I'm like okay cool we have five fairies we're all good to go um I I I think I tried to I thought I messed up there don't worry about it too much um sometimes it works like that um but that's why I'm like okay cool let's see how many I have I have three I didn't actually collect those fairies look we're good to go right uh and then uh we do the exact same thing for topaz we can speed it up just a little bit here um because uh it's it's essentially the same thing now that we have the five fairies and five topaz this is a really cool strategy that we use to get to the part where we want to go to genon right so the part that we want to go to gon it's where we got the shrine but we didn't actually do the shrine puzzle uh back when we were getting the topaz so uh in order for us to uh go there we need to zoom in on our map and then when I was mentioning earlier uh we go to the mini stable um because this is a very good indication of how far we need to go upwards so you can see I I NAB that I zoom all the way out I go to the right uh to this Shrine that we didn't get that was uh the fall damage cancel uh and then we go all the way up um past this one o I go for the adventure log now we go past this one and then to the shrine afterwards and that's uh how we actually navigate uh some of the map it gets very complicated um but we use what we know and what we've gotten during the entirety of this run and it all comes together so if you're like why do we get that one Shrine is actually to um why do we get that one Shrine when we fall damage canel it's like okay one is a really good audio indication of how far we are from the ground and then number two we can also use that same shrine as a guideline for navigating the map after we get the steering stick same thing with this Shrine that we're currently at we actually get the shrine so we can teleport back to it we also use it as an indicator and a very good uh way to um make sure that uh we can teleport back so we actually throw a topaz right there I know you can see exactly how we become a walking nuke because if you throw a topaz uh it actually does a huge area effect with a ton of damage but the reason why we throw it there is because there's three different types of sorts in your inventory and there's one that's most used and because we've never really used a Fairy before we've never died yet um and used a fairy uh we want to make sure that our topaz is the most used item it works later for our duplication I'll show you uh when we get there in a second but we do that specifically so we have an easier time duplicating topazes I kind of mess up my uh my little navigation here uh there's it happens no worries we just do the exact same thing over again uh and then we just keep walking I I for some reason paused right there uh when we were walking uh but yeah so we want to make sure that our menuing is perfect our inventory is succinct and uh because this next part is a ton of inventory management our only goal right now is to go to Ganon like we have gotten everything we need we're 2 hours into this run and I mean I it seems like we have nothing right now obviously uh but we actually just can go to genon right now you might be asking how I mean you have to open the gates you have to do this whole thing you have to somehow fall damage cancel down there or you can do a lot of glitches um and I'll show you exactly what those are in just a second here uh it's going to take a lot of explanation but trust me it is so worth it this is uh in my opinion one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the entire run all right so uh one of the most so we're going to throw all over weapons and this is true this is probably the most nerve-wracking part of the entire run it it has me shaken and quaking uh often so we want to get rid of all of our weapons uh and we we want to unequip our shield and then we actually just want to like take out our bow I need do this 12 times and the reason why uh is because we're going to be doing something called map zgl uh the it's about to get really complicated you're about to see a lot of menuing I'll try my best to explain it so our goal right now is to clip through the ground right now we are directly above ganon's layer uh where you fight Armory before the end of the game uh and then go into the whole Gondor fight Etc uh so we're right exactly above it right now in the Overworld and so if we clip through the ground we'll be able to fall far enough where we can skip the entire rest of the game however uh in order to do that we need to overload the game enough where the Collision uh in the ground doesn't detect us where it doesn't exist anymore we actually load the game with so many actors so many uh items so much that the game has to unload other parts of the game to make sure that you know we can still function as a character which has some crazy effects so what we're doing right now is called map suling by opening the map and then dropping a bow and then equipping another bow and then dropping another bow that we just equipped what we can do is take out our bow and then take out our bow again and then take out our bow again and then take out our bow again and keep doing that so then link holds like 12 bows at the same time the game doesn't like it when you do that and so it'll overload uh a lot of it and so uh if we do that then it'll unload the Collision detection and we can clip through the ground 11 12 all right so now that we have everything zugg and we have 12 bows taken out we want to take out our steering stick this is exactly why we got the steering stick we head forward we press a to control and immediately we clip through the ground because the game is overloaded and it cannot um essentially function properly so now we've glitched the game pretty badly and we're falling into Oblivion uh and what's really good about this is that what we can do while we're falling to the Ganon fight is and if you remember from the very beginning uh before Ascend is what we can do is we can duplicate items while we're falling so what we're going to do here is we're going to duplicate and I kid you not fairies 27 times because we really want to get as many fairies as possible to make sure that we live in the Ganon fight you'll see the strategy in just a minute but as we're falling we're going to be duplicating a ton of fairies while pressing down on our directional pad so we're falling uh towards the Ganon fight cuz it's slightly behind us um so we're doing the same thing of holding the fairies and then pressing Y and B while we're falling so then we can uh duplicate all of them it's a similar to having the same exact thing as um uh a neutral Shield surf while you're midair you can actually uh do this menu sword duplication so we're going to do that a lot for the fairies don't worry I will speed this up because it takes uh quite a lot of time we're getting a lot of fairies because once we duplicate topaz we're going to be using the topaz to throw and defeat enemies that's the way we deal damage because it has a large area effect uh not only will we be doing damage to the enemies but we'll be doing damage to ourselves hence why we're getting so many fairies as well so if an enemy hits us we live because of a fairy if we hit us we also live because of a fairy so it's very nerve-wracking because we have no save points uh from here on out and then once we're done with uh duplicating all of our topaz we want to just dive uh as much as possible until we hit some ground it's not where we want to be yet but this is exactly where we well this is exactly uh the halfway point to the Ganon fight so uh big sigh of relief as we use our second steering stick this is also why we went particularly to the gudo place for steering sticks uh because they give us three the game is very particular so sometimes it'll load objects sometimes it will not load objects depending on how much things are loaded in the game how much is in memory what you just need to know is that we are on the very edge of clipping inbounds and clipping out of bounds depending what link is wearing and what's nice about uh clipping to the gon fight specifically uh is that it enters a cut scene we take absolutely no fall damage and then we are good to go to fight ganon's Army and this is where the topaz and fairy strategy immediately comes into play uh so we're going to just be throwing as much topaz as possible and yes believe it or not this does have strategy to it we want to throw a far one we want to throw another far one and then we want to throw one up close because we want to make sure that the big boss bobin in the back is being dealt damage to while the ones that are right next to us and up close are also still dying uh so as you see here we can still do damage to ourselves but then we want to keep throwing towards that boss for cin cuz it does actually have like a chunky um much of a health bar um so we do actually have strategy of where whether or not I want to throw far whether or not I want to throw close uh how I throw it uh how fast I throw it uh whether I break Etc and you'll see this as well we have some backups uh in case that maybe my topaz don't kill but then you can also see that there's two B cins off to the side and we don't have our uh sword anymore to turn on a dime so whenever one in turn we'd have to do uh some sort of movement there um and so we use a new strategy uh uh called I guess recall turning where we get recall I hold up on the direction pad and then I press X to cancel it so then I can still turn uh without doing uh too too much so if you uh you know basically you you turn and you cancel recall immediately so you can just you know turn on a dime as you'd like so we do it again right here uh knowing that I killed that one uh Archer uh we're going to turn left here so I press left on the directional pad and then uh X to cancel recall and then we throw one more far to kill that bobblin at the very very end that is the hardest part of army because Demon King's Army has four different phases first one being bins the second one with lalos the third one being gibdos and then the fourth one being moblins uh so the lalos are the second hardest part of the the Army what we need to do is go uh to the right twice and then we throw the topaz essentially four times um so then we actually deal damage to all laaos now laaos similar to that of the boblins actually also have an Archer too it's over to the uh upper left so we do uh you know we move to the upper left I actually didn't know I broke my shield until uh literally I reviewed this for the first time which is kind of crazy but we also miss our lalos now this is where a lot of experience comes into play especially with practicing Army is that I know that the loost is probably a little bit farther to the left if I missed it because it wouldn't be far to the right based on you know my past experience with this so I move to the left I throw the topaz and we get the last Las alos now here's phase three with the gibdos gibdos are super weak to any Elemental damage you actually can't damage them with physical or blunt attacks so using this topass strategy is incredibly valuable to defeating them now they'll immediately mob you right so they'll they'll uh close on you IM like as fast as possible and so we use one topaz to deal with the Crawlers and then we use another topaz slightly later to deal with the flying gibdos just throw the topaz on yourself twice and you're good to go for that entire section of the Demon King's Army and then we get the easiest part of the Demon King's Army which is the moblin if you take the topaz and you just I kid you not this is incredibly crazy and you just throw it four times uh at the moblins without doing anything else the the entire wave is gone uh that's all it takes uh to to defeat this uh moin wave and then we get the Demon King's Army and then we're good now if you're an astute person you will recognize that we haven't done the rest of the entire game we haven't defeated any of the dungeons whatsoever which means that we have to face against Kera murok the queen gibdo marble GMA Etc however we're trying to speedrun here so what we just did there uh was a quick pause turn where you pause the game um you hold down and then you unpause pause again just to to make sure it's another way of uh turning link if you uh can't you could also do that with uh recall if you wanted to and then we set ourselves up to skip this fight so you're going to be hearing a lot of Kera right because we're actually going to skip Kera we're going to skip Queen gibbo marble GMA and the mrock by once again clipping pants are off pants are off clipping through the gate to the Ganon fight and particularly for this part we have to take off our pants because the what I I mentioned before with uh actors loading and unloading we need to have uh links actor super unloaded um it we we can't have him have his shield we can't have him have anything else and for so long uh for some reason um we couldn't figure out exactly how to clip in this fight until I realized that it was because link and I kid you not had his pants on so by taking off his pants we were actually able to clip this fight uh with uh the 12 bows Etc and this is incredibly nerve-wracking because if I fail this I have to do everything that we just did for the past 20 minutes all over again we take out our bow we press a and then immediately spam B to clip through the door and there we go we have now skipped all four major bosses of the game the thing is and this might surprise you is I'm a little confused right now because I think that I've actually clipped through the ground all the way I I'm not too sure if I actually made it I realized I have no idea yeah I have I have no recollection of if there is a confirmed audio que or not I did I did it worked other than uh hearing that location uh for ganon's layer and the reason why I don't know is because that is actually the very first time that I've ever done that clip blindfolded I was always so nervous in practice yeah there we go you can see all of the we took all of the bows off of Link just you know to make sure that the game stays loaded um and you can see all of them that were overloaded it's very funny um but yeah that was the first time I've actually done that trick ever uh as blindfolded because whenever I would do it in practice I would just kind of do it cited cuz I was so nervous that I wouldn't be able to get it and I really didn't want to duplicate items for the next 20 minutes again to try have another try uh so that's kind of an insane fun fact about this we just all we need to do is walk forward and then we are at the game and fight it did work it did work oh my God okay okay okay okay okay okay oh oh my God oh my God oh my God oh my God it worked how disappoint oh my God okay okay okay okay all that's left is to be Cannon demon dragon and catch Zelda we are officially on a run now there's a lot of things that can still go wrong don't get me wrong all right the gandon part is one of the easier Parts um of this segment uh the Dragon part could definitely kill everything uh and then we could just fail everything to uh Zelda so in order to beat Ganon uh all we need to do is throw topaz at him and we kind of need a hope that we don't run out of fairies and we kind of need a hope that we don't run out topaz as well uh and the only way that that could work uh is if Ganon does a ton of damage to us and getting rid of our fairies or if we actually just miss a lot of our topaz and so we don't have enough kill it uh so the way that we ensure that topaz is actually hitting Ganondorf is by holding ZL so every now and then you'll see me spam the ZL button to Target just to make sure that we are actually targeting Demon King Gondor otherwise if we're not we could be throwing the topaz past him to the left or to the right and so that's very very important to make sure uh we get some invincibility frames as well by killing ourselves with the fairies so as you can saw see right there sometimes when he hits us we actually don't even take damage um but that's what we need to do uh there's actually no indicator of how far we are into the fight so this entire time that I'm doing uh de King Ganondorf I'm just kind of hoping uh that I have enough topad and enough fairies uh to be able to defeat him uh but yeah there's a couple different strategies that we have for every single fight uh cuz Game King gondorf technically has three phases he has phase one uh he has phase two where he becomes you know a little B more swagged out and then phase three where he gets a huge health bar uh and then we have to defeat that as well um so it's a little nerve-wracking cuz I have no idea um if I've done it until these phase changes first phase done first phase [Music] done so we get to the second phase uh actually sorry the second phase is where he has that huge health bar uh and so what we do for the second phase is that he spawns a bunch of his minions around him and uh the reason why is uh what we do here is we actually just want to throw a bunch of topaz at our feet because the uh clone ganondorfs will surround us as you can see here and we ensure that we deal a ton of damage to all of them by just doing a bunch of area effect around us and we really want to make sure that those go away because each one of them can individually attack and then take Link off of his groove or you know make sure that we can't attack with uh toad they can basically stunlock us and put us into a um an ability where it doesn't work so we have them low enough where I'm I'm starting to get confident that I can just like throw topaz at them um and as you can see in just a little bit we'll hear a um little audio CU that we have defeated them um yeah there we go right so I can hear an audio CU that I did defeat them um so I'm like okay cool nice and then we're on the last part of demon king gondorf here yep so you see um because I heard that audio Q we should be good to go uh I wish there was more to this fight I really do it it's so hyped up it's so cool um but all we really are trying to do here is we're just trying to make sure that we are locked onto genon um so I'm spamming ZL here it's not locking onto him um so then then I make sure I don't throw topaz uh so as to not ruin the amount of topaz that I have cuz I only have 100 remaining and I'm on Phase 2 so I'm like okay cool I still I actually also don't know at this point how many topaz I have or how many fairies I have I just know I'm generally in the ballpark of 100 to 150 and I need to hope that I hit most of my shots because if I don't uh then I have to do the past Now 26 minutes all over again we'll uh fast forward through most of this fight now uh because it's it really is just the same uh just going uh through it over and over and over again uh until Demon King Ganondorf goes now you might be also wondering why is there Kera music playing and also why is the Kera Boss Bar at the very top uh the reason being is because technically the game thinks that we're both in the Demon King Ganondorf and also the kulgera fight remember that we actually clipped through the door to get to Ganondorf um while we were in the Kera fight so you know the game has not unloaded Kera and we're also just happen to be facing Demon King ganador it's a little bit confused right now but it's got the good spirit you know we're in a boss fight that's all that really matters and let's be r with ourselves the Kera boss fight music is kind of one of the best boss fight musics in all of teers of the kingdom and kind of the best boss fight uh so that is why that's happening oh is it a a split for Ganon we did it oh oh oh oh sorry I forgot this is the longest cut scene loading uh yeah it was going black for a while s okay okay okay all right cuz cuz then dragon is spawning oh my God all right here we go oh my god oh we all we have left is Dragon we have five ey well Four Eyes one tier and then Zelda the Zelda catch is I kid you not we could do all this and then fail Zelda catch and it's going to be awful okay okay here we go uh we I think we're going to fail Dragon first try cuz positions are always different first try but we'll see oh right uh master sword oh my God okay okay okay I can still fail Dragon I can still fail dragon and I can still fail Zelda it's not over yet dare I say dragon is one of the hardest parts of the run and then Zelda if we fail Zelda there's a chance we just don't even finish the run because catching Zelda is actually unironically and genuinely one of the hardest parts of the run and it's the last thing we have to do if you never actually get the master sword uh during the game like at all uh you you will uh go into a bunch of cut scenes where you're like oh wow this Dragon for some reason has the Master Sword and the game just gives it to you uh it really just does uh so now you might have heard uh that I said oh we're probably going to you know not do the dragon first try and that's actually by Design um we have to get all four eyes on demon dragon and then uh smash the tier at the very end uh there's a lot of really Niche things I've spent way too much time on this dragon fight uh practicing and the particular weird thing is is that uh we currently but we have a save point now that's that's the thing that I was celebrating the path that each Dragon takes is different versus the first try that you do it right here versus the second try that you do it uh so the first try is like a it's a different path for some reason than every other try that you've ever done so we're going to attempt to see if we can do it here we're admittedly going to fail but as you can see each dragon is kind of on Rails uh to the point where uh it's just a little bit odd still so uh you might initially uh come to think that oh this is probably one of the easier parts of the run and I disagree this is actually one of the hardest parts of the Run uh full stop uh so uh I recognized that we didn't get to the eye there and then so I'm going to uh basically use up all of my thees uh and then uh kill myself because that's the only way that you can actually reset this R so the good thing is is that if we die during this fight we always respa back on Zelda so we we're already P the point of no return we're good this is our safe point we don't have to zugg again we don't have to do the dragon fight again we don't have to do ganon's fight again and that is why I was celebrating so much because we are good to go uh but if we die here we start the uh fight over again and if you remember anything from the past 2 hours of this uh explanation is that we really value normalization we always want to know the position that we're at and so if we die then we respawn on Zelda and we know exactly the position that Zelda her Dragon will take and also the demon dragon will take as well we're just going to throw topaz at ourselves or just die to demon dragons uh at malice should have been worried and so each eye for demon dragon has a very specific strategy this is one of the hardest parts because it is anything from an autoc scroller it'll look like demon dragon snaps on to you and you can just like immediately go to the eye it is anything but this is as if I was falling from any random Sky Island onto a very small piece of a shrine you have to be extremely precise with this so we lock our camera all the way down so it's looking directly at link we're holding up left and we are also running off those are also incredibly important I listen and I use the music here to determine when I need to Dive Right Here the symol I dive and then I press down and then when I hear that little twinkle I stop pressing down I spam ZL and I know that it locks onto the little eye here in which case I can just walk forward link will navigate towards the eye and I can press Y and that is eye number one every single eye is different then we dive immediately we do not want Zelda to catch us so we go all the way to the left we wait 3 seconds past Zelda's Roar and then we go to the right because once again normalization if Zelda doesn't catch us and we keep going down it plays it plays a cut scene uh where Zelda picks us up and then Zelda is always on the same rail after that always on the same tracks and always does the same thing so for the second one what we want to do is we want to uh have camera down all the way and then we hold the L button because the Rune menu will only appear on the first frame available that it can basically when Zelda's not uh so we're going to uh do some recall looks right there and then we're going to uh head a little bit forward uh to the second eye um so that you know it it's very important that we have that re uh we have that Rune menu pop up as soon as it can so we know exactly where we are we have the timing correct and everything so with the second eye I know that I always land to the right of it so if I look to the left and then press uh ZL uh so see there and I press ZL I know I'm always going to lock onto it so I walk forward until I hear some squelching in which case I then take out my uh sword until I hit the eye and then that is I to um every single eye has a very different strategy to it we do the same thing after every one of them though where I head to the left you hear Zelda's Roar right there and then we uh wait 3 seconds we head to the right uh Zelda tries to pick us up uh but misses us uh completely so then we activate that cut scene one more time there's four different eyes here uh in each one uh either uses uh some weird uh second strategy um thank you past Eric for singing for this I appreciate you so much um so this one is very weird because we actually don't use culation strategy we just L here to make sure that link or Z is in the exact and then we can activate link whenever is as soon as possible past this like pseudo cut scene right here so what we want to do is we want to uh go to the left here and immediately start diving upwards uh so we dive upwards and then you'll see just a second we'll go up and to the left or sorry up and to the right just a tad um and it's just it's just by feeling there is no like music for that one at all you just go by Vibes and you know that the eye is generally to the uh behind you uh and then you if you spam ZL it'll it should be like around here uh that is one of the more difficult ones U but this next eye eye number four we purely use music for um because a lot of this diving and unding and and and and flat dot it all requires a lot of precise timing and the best way to do that is by the music that's playing in the background because the music in the background is on a loop it'll keep playing over and over and over again and so we can use that timing between like the symbols coming in or the horns playing uh to determine when we need to do certain actions uh so for this one we have to wait till the piano comes in uh after the horns it's a whole big deal uh but in this case you'll see uh that I get a little bit over excited uh uh with it and I I really want to activate uh I I AC accidentally activate uh fuse here and then head to the right in which case I realize oh I've messed up oh no I got to do this again so uh one of the more brutal things about the end of the game of all of blindfolded is that if you mess up anything at the very end of the game you have to essentially do that whole segment all over again uh and dragon's particularly brutal because uh the first three eyes that we did if you mess up eye number four you have to do the first three all over again don't worry good news is we have the power of pro processing so we can speed through most of that uh and get it uh until the uh fourth and last eye where we just like you know do it properly this time all right so we activate recall here and we move a little bit to the right uh twice and then we listen to the background so when the piano comes in uh right after this little swell then we go to the right and then we start diving upwards until right here that second swell uh we go upwards again and then we do a little tap to the right wait for it and then we go uh one more dive forward and we literally just look for the eye here um I get really nervous cuz I think I missed it and I don't want to do it again until we lock onto the eye uh we hear the in and then we hit eye number four and that is the last eye of demon dragon however we have one more thing of the Dragon to do Z catch me Z catch me this is the only instance in which we do want zela to catch us because it makes it a lot faster and so while zel's uh driving us to demon dragon to hit that final tier uh we're spamming the ZL button to make sure that we are the camera is right behind link we have camera down and what we need to do here is we need to go to the left and then we need to intermittently go down left and then left per swell and you can see that we go back left right there and the reason why we do this is because we need to successfully Dodge Demon dragon's attacks uh and somehow so this takes us normally like 10 tries somehow I end up actually landing on demon dragon the first try get the tiar and then beat it first try first try first try oh my god I've never gotten that first try I'm actually shaking right now oh my God oh my God [Music] [Music] yes okay please catch Zelda please catch Zelda this could ruin the entire run this is literally I kid you not this is one of the hardest parts of the Run okay here we go here we go here we go please catch Zelda please catch Zelda please catch Zelda 34 up 22 left if not slightly below uh right and then five symbols for backup okay if we miss catching Zelda here there is virtually no backup there is no sound Q There is no way to know where you are in this plane you could be
