Application Instructions

Applicants have two main pathways for licensure:

Idaho Apprenticeship School Pathway

1. Education Requirement:
   • Complete 576 hours of instruction at a board-approved HVAC Apprenticeship Program.
   • Approved Programs Include:
     • Colleges (e.g., College of Southern Idaho, College of Western Idaho, etc.)
     • HVACR Education Online
     • Sheet Metal JATC Programs
     • Ultimate Heating and Air
2. Work Experience Requirement:
   • Submit a Work Verification Form for 8,000 hours of supervised HVAC installation work.
   • Examination can be taken after 576 hours of instruction, but licensure requires proof of 8,000 hours.
3. Registration Requirement:
   • Must hold an active Idaho HVAC Apprentice Registration during the completion of work hours.

Work Experience Pathway

• Requirement:
  • Submit a Work Verification Form for 16,000 hours of supervised HVAC installation work.

• Ensure all information is complete:
  • Non-Refundable Processing Fee
  • Complete Application Form
  • Work Verification Form(s)
  • Apprenticeship Completion Certificate (if applicable)
  • Proof of Military or Veteran Status (if applicable)

Certification

• Declaration: Certify all information is true; incorrect information may lead to disciplinary action.
• Examination Requirement: Must pass the exam within one year from application date.

  • Applicant and Supervisor Information
  • Total Hours Worked
  • State of Work Completion

Credit Card Authorization Form

• Payment Authorization:
  • Possible fees: Application, Permit, License, Renewal
  • 2.5% additional charge for card use
• Required Information:
  • Credit Card Number, Expiration Date, CVC
  • Billing Address, Cardholder Signature
