How to Generate Subtitles for Videos

Steps to Create Subtitles
Step 1: Install Descript
Go to the Descript website (link in the video).
Click
Get Started
and sign up for an account (Google sign-up is available).
Download and install the Descript software on your computer.
Step 2: Upload Video to Descript
Open the installed software and sign in to your account.
Click
Start New Project
and name your project (e.g., "Subtitles").
Drag and drop the video file for which you want to create subtitles.
Click
Done
to upload the video. Descript will automatically generate subtitles for the audio.
Editing the Generated Subtitles
Play the video and review the subtitles.
Correct any mistakes by selecting the word and clicking
Correct
to enter the right word.
Step 3: Save and Export Subtitles
Click
Share
and then select
Export
.
Choose the subtitle format and click
Export
followed by
Save
.
Open the saved file to confirm that the subtitles are ready.
Adding Subtitles to Video
On a Video Player
Drag and drop the subtitle file to the video player to sync it with the video automatically.
On YouTube
Log into your YouTube channel and go to
Content
.
Select the video you want to add subtitles to and click the subtitles icon.
Click
Add
and then
Upload File
, selecting the saved subtitle file.
Click
Publish
to finalize the addition of subtitles.
