Hi everyone I'm Shannon and thank you for watching so welcome to my second installment of my room selection series of how to choose a room at Walt Disney World Resorts and today we're going to cover our second DVC resort and that is Disney's Palm Polynesian villas. Now, if there are bungalows, I'm not going to be covering the bungalows because honestly, I have no idea about the bungalows. So there we go. So a little bit about the Polynesian villas.
There are three room categories. First, you have the Standard View Studios, and there are 288 of those. Then there's the Lakeview Studios, and those, there are 72. And then there are 20 bungalows. Again, we're not going to be covering the bungalows because just a little bit out of my budget. So my family stayed at the Polynesian Villas in December 2018. We had a fabulous stay.
Our room request was kind of selected, but... not really we got the building we wanted but not the floor we had a great time um so i'll go over a little bit about that as well but i'm going to give you some ideas of kind of recommendations of where i would choose if i had to do it over again and then also what we would have done differently when requesting because i'm trying to give like there's basically three buildings and want to give you an idea of which building you should request depending on your family so what we like you may not like you might like a third floor room where we like ground floor so i'm going to get into that again i'm using touring plans website so touringplants.com and i use their room request feature you must subscribe to their um to their service to get the room request feature they will email disney disney has given them their own email address so they email disney directly and every time we've used this service we get a room very very close to what we've requested there was one time we got the exact room we requested that was really exciting but um usually we get and this time we actually said i i wanted to be in takalau which is where we ended up but there was no ground for rooms in takalau so we i and i'll talk about that a little bit on the video so here we go so before we start to look at the room selections for polynesian villas i wanted to take you to touringplans.com's website and their page dedicated to Polynesian Village Resort. This covers both the villas and the resort, and there is just a lot of information.
Talks about dining, check-in, etc. You will also see right here, there's some tours, and here's some pictures of the resort rooms. Here is a video of the room tour for a studio. I will post a link. below for that so you have the full room tour for a studio villa and here are some pictures of the room you can see the room right there and then with the sofa bed pulled out and then right in this little corner is that murphy bed as you probably know already that the polynesian has two bathrooms so you have one with the shower right here with the sink, and then another one with the tub shower combo, another sink, and then the toilet is right over here.
So you have two bathrooms. People can get ready at the same time. It was great because I was able to use my makeup and do my makeup in here. And this bathroom was my husband and son.
So this was my bathroom. That was theirs. And you can just see a lot of other information as well.
The only thing I will say is if you are staying at a Polynesian studio, Make sure you bring hangers. There is not a lot of drawer space. There is some drawers, there are some drawers, but not a lot.
So what I, and I knew that when we booked there, we were staying nine nights and it was also the winter. So we had to bring winter clothes because we're from South Florida and just cold, but we brought a lot of hangers. So we were able to hang a lot of our clothes, which made it a lot easier. So make sure you visit this page and learn all about.
all that you need to know about Disney's Polynesian. So now we're looking at the map of the Polynesian Village Resort. Again, this one will show you it has all of the rooms together.
So if you look at the room type, you will see all the different types of room types. So what you just need to make sure you are selecting the correct. So the two for the Polynesian Studios would be a standard view deluxe studio or the Lakeview Deluxe Studio.
There's also the bungalows. I will not be going over the bungalows today because basically I have no idea. I don't think I will ever stay in a bungalow.
I've never stayed in a bungalow and I just really don't know what to recommend in that so I'm just not even going to touch it. But those are the two right there. For the number of studios at Polynesian there are 72. Lakeview Studios, and there are 288 standard view.
So we'll go into that now. Let's look at the most popular room. We'll start with that first, the most popular room requested.
And this is the most popular room requested through touring plans for every resort. So not just for Polynesian villas, but for every resort, this is the most popular room requested. And it is in, it is a standard view and it is in Takalao and it is on the third floor.
And it is going to be these two rooms right here, which are 3914 and 3915. So this is 3914. You can see this is the view. You've got the Grand Floridian, just amazing view. Here's another view from the room. And this is why it is the most popular because it is a standard view, but you have that view of the lake because of where it's at. So amazing view because it's at the end.
You kind of have that view at the end of the balcony. So again, the most popular room requested through touring plans, and that is 3914 and then 3915. Of the two, I think 3914 is probably better. But look at that.
I mean, wow, what an amazing view from, you know, a standard view room. So now we're back at the full map of Polynesian Villas and actually of all of Polynesian Village Resort. And we're going to go look at the standard view again and go over the three buildings that make up Polynesian Villas.
So again. those two rooms are the most popular, but keep in mind there are 288 standard view villas. So if you are requesting one of those two rooms, it's highly likely you're not going to get one of them because there is a one in 144 chance that you are going to get one of those rooms. So the odds really have to be in your favor. I think it's great to request it, but If you don't want to be on the third floor in Takalao, if you don't get one of those two rooms, then personally, I would pass.
So let's look at the three buildings that make up Polynesian villas. So again, that is Takalao. That is the building right here.
And they are called longhouses. All of the buildings are called longhouses. So there is the longhouse Takalao.
And then you have Pago Pago. Pago Pago is the one that is closest to the parking lot. So this white space here, is the parking lot and it's pretty much for DVC.
I think you can park there if you're staying in any of the buildings, but that really is the DVC parking lot. And then Morea is the other one. Morea, if you click on that, you will see these white rooms are the ones that face the lake and these are the ones that are the lake view.
So if you have a lake view room, you are going to be in Morea. but let's go back to the resort map and look at, so that's the three buildings that make up Polynesian villas. Those three buildings in comparison to the rest of the resort, you have the great ceremonial houses right here.
This is the monorail station right here. This is the main pool, the lava pool. This right here is the, I believe it's called the oasis pool.
It is the DVC quiet pool. So it's literally right outside Takalau. Then you also have the friendship boats to Magic Kingdom right here. So that's the marina.
And then this space right here is the marina where you can rent pontoon boats during the day. Or if you take a fireworks cruise, which is what I did with my family. And I'll link the video below to that. That's where you would pick up. the boat and you would take you off and they would put you off in front of Magic Kingdom during the fireworks whenever fireworks come back.
It's an amazing thing to do so I highly recommend it. So that gives you an idea of just kind of where the DVC buildings fall. And then on the other side, you see the transportation and ticket center. I always say that wrong.
And there you have the ferry, the monorail, and buses. So what we found, and when we stayed there, we ended up in Takala on the second floor. We had requested ground floor, but we did not get it.
So we ended up on the second floor. And we found that... It was easier to walk to the TTC than it was to the Grand Ceremonial House. It was also much easier to catch a monorail or sometimes catch a ferry back to get to our room.
So the walking distance was about the same, but the monorails were more, we had the choice of going to the Express monorail that took us straight to Magic Kingdom, or just going, if we had to go to Epcot, we took the monorail from there. So I think when you're staying in the DVC villas, obviously the monorail is going to be closed for several months, but that's not going to be always. But it's still almost more convenient to walk to the TTC from the DVC buildings. Should you think about when trying to request a room?
So first off, let's go back to Marea and you will see right here. So these are the standard rooms. We're going to go over standard first.
These two rooms right here are. the DVC laundry. So if you think you're going to be doing laundry, maybe you want to request Maria because you will be in that building.
I wouldn't request this room, uh, one zero zero three, because it's literally right next to the laundry, but you know, it, it would be like, almost like you're having the laundry in your room. Now I did do laundry when we stayed there back in 2007 or 2018, sorry. And we walked over and it was not a big deal.
So it was very easy, but it's much easier, obviously, if you are in the same building. So we left Takalau. We did stay there. We were, I believe we were on the second floor. So let me pull up second floor.
And I did send in pictures. So I think, let's see, it was this one. Nope, that was not my picture. And maybe it was this one. Yes.
that is mine because I can recognize my picture and it was a nice view basically had a view of Pago Pago I believe that's Pago Pago there and we also had a view of it was really close so the parking lot was right around here so it was pretty close Pago Pago would have been closer and one of the things we also used so the elevator was right around here but we used the stairs they had external stairs So we would just walk out and use the external stairs, which we felt were easier. It was a little bit complicated with the stroller, but we found that the stairs were usually just easier because we would just be able to walk. So let's go back to the resort map. So Takalau, what I had requested, and I will show you, was I had requested a first floor and it's going to go back. And I think I had requested around here.
You can't really see it because this is the entryway right here and there's a lot of foliage, but the pool is right around here. So we had requested that. We did not get it.
When I said, is there any ground floor rooms? They said, no, there were no ground floor rooms available that day. And we ended up on the second floor in Takalao. I had said that I wanted to be in Takalao over having a ground floor room.
If I had to do it over again, I would say, We want a ground floor room, no matter which building, but that's personal preference. So again, so that's, that's Takalo. And let's now go to Pago Pago. So Pago Pago is probably going to give you the least great views, right? You have some, let's go to third floor and you can kind of see how great the views are not.
And here is a nice view. Well, you got the monorail, but you got the parking line. However, if you have your car, like we do.
This is fantastic. To be honest, if we had to do it again, we would request the Pago Pago building and we would probably request one of these buildings, one of these, anything on the first floor in Pago Pago. You actually get some nice views from this side.
Actually, that's not a great view, but that's just a lot of foliage, but it's not a bad view. And it's just very quiet. There's a nice walkway, but staying on that side of the building so that would be around here we would literally be really close to the parking lot really close to the ttc And, you know, close enough, you're really not that much different from the ceremonial house.
But we found that we really didn't go to the ceremonial house or the pool as often as we did to our car, to the ferry, to the monorail. So for us to be closer to those things would have been better for us. And again, but we were there for, I think, nine nights and it was cold.
So we only went to the pool one day, but we went to obviously we went on the bus or drove our car or did the monorail. every day. So just some things to consider. I also want to point out before we move on to the Lakeview studios, that touring plans, you do have this option right here when you're using those filters. So you have those filters again, walking distance to lobby, walking distance to transportation, which floor, sound level, accessibility, etc.
So I would say, you know, when you're looking at that, and then there's also touring plans picks. I use that especially when it's a resort that I am not familiar with. So I use that a lot.
I'm not going to show those because I believe those are for subscribers and I don't want to give anything away for non-subscribers, but that is available to subscribers. So now we're going to go to the Lakeview rooms. Click on Lakeview Deluxe Studio, like show matching rooms.
And as I stated before, they are all in Marea. And they're all obviously facing the lake. But here is the issue with booking a lake view room. You go to the third floor.
You click this room. Look at that spectacular view. Space Mountain.
Cinderella Castle. Beautiful view of the bungalows. You got some trees here. But you have this spectacular sky that at night is going to be lit up with fireworks.
You could just sit on your balcony with a glass of wine and watch the fireworks every night of your trip. That is room 3029. Now let's go down to the first floor. First floor, we go to 1029, okay?
You have this beautiful view of the bungalows. It's a beautiful view. It's not a bad view.
You can see the lake, but you're still going to be able to see the fireworks, but you're not going to have that spectacular view from the third floor. This is why my family and I will never spend the points to stay in a lake view room because there's a one third chance you're going to end up on the ground floor. And as I stated before, we prefer to be on the ground floor. So if I'm going to watch the fireworks, we're probably going to come out to the beach, watch the fireworks from the beach or watch them from Magic Kingdom. To be honest, we're usually not, we're either asleep or we're at a park.
So we're usually not in our room the time to go and watch the fireworks. So that is my personal preference. But to be honest, if you're going to pick any room, I think any of these rooms would be spectacular.
You're going to have, I mean, look at that view. This is the last room. This is 3015. This is the last room on the row for Maria. I mean, just look at that spectacular view.
You just can't go wrong. So I think if you're going to have, if you're going to request a room at Polynesian, I would just say you want to be on the third, if you're on a lake view, you want to be on the third floor in Marea, just third floor, any third floor room. I think if you get to be too picky, as far as you want to be on the east side, the west side or whatever near the elevator, then you risk maybe being put on a separate floor.
So that would be my suggestion. Personally, let's request our room here. We're going to go where it says, click here to make a request for your room during sample trip. And I click here.
And it's going to automatically bring me to my dashboard. And I'm going to hit configure room request. Same thing as before. It's going to put building Marea third floor north facing room.
And it gives you examples. And here what I would just put any third floor room and save. That's what I would do.
I would make it very sweet and simple. to ensure that you get that third floor room. So as you can see, those are my recommendations of things to consider when choosing or trying to request a room at Polynesian Villas.
These are the three buildings and it really is personal preference. Do you wanna be close to parking in the TTC? Pick Pago Pago.
If you wanna be close to the ceremonial house and the pools, then pick Takalau. If you wanna be close to the laundry or you have a lake view room, then you're going to be close to Morea. I think those are three things.
Those are the features of each of the buildings. Really, it's personal preference. And even if you're on the third floor room.
It's not a far, you can use the stairs as well. And it's, I would say we wanted a ground floor room. We ended up on the second floor. It wasn't bad. It didn't ruin our vacation by any means.
Would we have been a little more happy on the ground floor? Absolutely. But we still had a great time. But again, like I said, personally for us, we would choose Pago Pago in the future to be close to the TTC and to be close to our car because we do drive to Walt Disney World. So with that, I'm going to leave you from Touring Plans website at the Polynesian Village Resort.
So that's it. Those are all the things to consider when you're looking for a room and requesting a room at the Polynesian Villas. And just something to keep in mind, this is going up in October of 2020. So if you're booking a trip before the resort reopens or the ceremonial house, right now the check-in is at Pago Pago. which can be convenient but also if you want to i mean there's really not going to be a lot of people checking in because most people do online check-in but just kind of keep that in mind as well that it is in pago pago until the resort reopens in july of 2021. so with that i hope you enjoyed this video i will be back with another installment in a few days and if you like this video make sure to click like click and subscribe and ring the bell that way you get a notification every time i post a new video Bye everyone!
