Review of Chasing M2 Underwater Drone

what is up folks Eternal angle here so today I'm gonna be doing a review of my underwater drone the chasing M2 um I've had this underwater drone for about two years now around 50 Dives and it's held up quite well man um I really like this underwater drone I'm comparing it to the First underwater drone the geneno T1 um there's got there's been a lot of upgrades um a lot of improvements um I'm just blown away how quickly they're evolving with this technology in the consumer sector um and I just can't wait to get review um and in this video I'm comparing it to other underwater drones um talking about some of the new technology that surfacing such as you know software updates and you know when I give a review um I want to know about the resiliency how long this Electronics Gonna Last is it going to hold up the longevity all those things is very important to me when I buy an underwater drone that costs over two thousand dollars um close to three thousand I got paid like around 2 2 800 um for this chasing M2 with the claw so I mean this is a very important aspect and when someone's giving a review on YouTube and they're just doing it one or two days worth you're not seeing that you know the replaceable battery might not last this plastic outer shell might break within a few minutes months there's a lot of things that can go wrong with these electronics and I'm going to talk about how there's a lot of Maintenance to them as well too especially in if you're in salt water I'm going to be doing a comparison um since I use mine in fresh water um I haven't had any problems and I think when you use an assault wire there is a lot more more maintenance to it and I'll get into that shortly but before doing so you know the first look at the chasing them too I thought you know I had the T1 at the time I'm pretty happy with it was about to buy the claw but then I saw chasing Innovation coming out this new underwater drone they released the specs they talked about you know um replaceable battery um SD card slot and um a claw of course and eight thrusters and Omni movement and I was just like oh my gosh it's like everything I wanted under the water drone and basically I put up my T1 really quickly on eBay and I was just gonna invest all the money into this new underwater drone coming out but they posted like a front photo of it and I'm like man that looks a lot different than any other underwater drone I've seen on the market um after they released like a video of showing it's like what I call like an open cage design I was a little worried I was worried about like is it gonna have really good stabilization is it going to move through a water very aerodynamic or hydrodynamically um just like the other underwater drones the common the common design you see with underwater drones is like having an outer shell to them where you know it moves through the water very smoothly looks for a high hydrodynamic this is the Gladius Mini S like you know the second generation of the Gladius mini and it's known to be really stable but this was a new platform it had eight thrusters and I was worried well even though it is on the movement is it going to be stable and I was kind of worried about those things um and so I said hell with it I ended up selling the T1 like I said on eBay and I invested in the chasing M2 and the Russ's history am I I'm glad I did and I'm about to get into why there's there's a lot of benefits to this um open shell Design This open cage design and you know when I had the T1 one of the first days I took it over to the marina um it was basically in Winter and what happens in winter is some of the boaters leave over the ropes around the poles you know I got a lot of cool footage underwater I got some largemouth bass on film you can still check out those videos um some panfish perch and I was just blown away by the incredible footage I got but I got too close to one pole and I sucked up a rope in one of the thrusters and you know I carefully pulled it out once I got you know basically uh the Drone back on land I carefully pulled out that rope but I saw that you know the Thruster the the propeller wasn't moving as smoothly as it did I'm like man you know there's a lot of things I didn't think of when I bought this janino T1 like I'm probably gonna have to take this drone apart and work on the Thruster get the remaining threads and you know those rope uh threads out of that Thruster to get this working again so I took it back home completely overwhelmed I couldn't believe how many screws there were to take the outer shell off and once I did it took me I won't say a good hour to find each screw um I should have looked up directions see if there's some type of manual where I could see where each screw was at um but I don't think there is much and when I broke open the shell it kind of like cracked I mean it didn't crack crack but it sounded like it did with the noise I was a little worried and then luckily the smartest thing I did was videotape where every screw goes because this way you kind of want to do when we're working on cars you don't you're not familiar with the car best thing you can do is videotape the progress that's where you know where every screw is at and I did that but it still it took forever um and once that broke open the shell um there was like Styrofoam inside um I thought that was really cheap uh with genital and I know with these drones there's no styrofoam inside when you open them up and um they just have natural buoyancy to them but then I finally got to you know the the screws of the Thruster and I was able to get that Thruster off um I'll post this pick set you can use to get out thread you know out of these Thruster Motors very easily and you're able to pick some of those threads out and I did that and I looked up what you know silicone spray that they recommend to keep things running smoothly so I took the thread out um and I resprayed the motors and it took forever I want to say all in all like two or three hours to get all that stuff done put it back together make sure when you press the joystick it's running forward you press the joystick to the left to the right it's going left or right um it was just a pain in the ass again took two to three hours and I'm like man you know now that I know where everything's at again but it I think it would still take me like a good hour plus to make you know do that type of you know maintenance again if I run into that problem and what do you know the first dive or is like the second or third dive with the chasing M2 I did this time I ran over some monofilament some monofilament fishing line it was pretty long strand got sucked up in one of these motors and I thought whoa you know there's not many screws it's an open cage design and I was able to because I think it was these two screws here the bottom two screws here just one of the top screws and I was able to take this motor off um and the way they had the wire wires running through here you just unscrew this and the motor comes off and I did this not knowing looking any directions I want to say around a half hour maybe less um and I was just blown away how easy it was to work on it was still tough getting some of that monofilament line out but again using that pick um from that husky kit set um I also get that monofilament line out and I was able to get you know put a little silicone grease or grease some Motors and I was able to get it back and running again in no time and I thought well that's a huge plus having this open cage design is great for working on maintenance and what I'm about to get next and also modifications so um unlike something such as like the five fish v6s or the five fish V6 expert or some a lot of other other water drones like um the nevadics Mido uh you know again the Geno team one well this open cage design every like I would say one and a half inches they have two screw holes one set here one set here another set there another set there and this allows to add on different modifications this is the same within the bottom there's a eventually you know a different set of screw holes where you can add on things and if you notice here's a postal photo of a V6 expert and they can only add like one thing on the bottom um they got one type of sensor on top on the handle and it just looks awkward with the M2 or M2 Pro or M2 Pro Max they allow you to add on all types of accessories and it starts looking like something out of Ghostbusters like the active one and I'm just blown away I mean I'm a guy that loves modifying my fishing lures I love modifying my muscle cars um this is cool for that reason it allows you the one thing that was a negative thing with the chasing them too is these led lights are so close together and so when you take this out at night it's picking up a lot of water particles so you're at you're able to add in some light arms and in doing so Mount them to this open cage body design and connect them to these ports very easily it's just much easier to work on but I will say this and I'll post a video when you have things that start sticking out of a like underwater drone you got to start worrying about that tether wrapping around you know the one thing the design I didn't like about the G Nano T1 is they had arms on the underwater drone and then the thrusters were on the arms so it had like arm thrusters and that tether would wrap around them it would basically when it's moving through the water make it move awkwardly that tether would get wrapped around it was annoying you know I noticed there's a little drag when that happened it just so what's nice about this underwater drone even though it's open cage the tether smoothly goes over the body and doesn't get like hooked on anything but if you run those you know those uh attachable arms that's something you have to worry about and it's I don't know it's starting to I know it's become like standard on this platform because the pro Max actually has light arms standard now so uh but that's a pro version like industrial version so if you're looking for something like that that's something um to be you know you might want to look into again I'm not going to talk too much about specs but other things um before I get into the stabilization and Omni movement I want to say this is like the most important thing to talk about not only chasing them too but underwater drones in general um there's a lot of maintenance involved and when people bought this these people didn't realize how much you know you have to oil them up again the motors the thrusters how thoroughly you have to clean it in the tub um you know inside or outside wherever you do it you have to do that especially if you use it in salt water now I've used this underwater drone in fresh water um all the time I've used it during my Dives so there might be a reason why I haven't had any problems any major problems I've had some minor problems I'll be mentioning it shortly but any major problems I haven't had but here's the thing I take care of my products I've owned sports cars over the years again muscle cars and there's maintenance evolved to that cleaning the interior um you know using uh cleaning the outside of course of the car doing regular oil changes and sometimes on modify them with headers it kept exhaust system all that stuff but there is maintenance involved taking care of car is important whether it's shining the rims polishing the leather cleaning the exterior of the paint and then waxing it well it's the same thing with these drones and if you don't take care of them and do the maintenance these thrusters will start to lock up now for fresh water the maintenance what I do basically is soak it in a tub um you know you can do it in a tub in your bathroom um a lot of people are starting to buy these giant plastic tubs and do it outside I think that's the best way to do it and run it for like 15 minutes run it so you're flushing out all that sand if you're navigating across the bottom you're gonna pick up sand in these thrusters you can pick up a lot of weed stuck in these trusters and when you do that run it back and forth left and right top to bottom you're gonna see all this stuff gummed up and the motors come out and it cleans the motors very thoroughly it has to be with within fresh water you're not necessarily worried about the water in general it oxidizes these motor but those other things within fresh water again such as sand and weeds and afterwards every sloth and let's say like every three or four Dives I start to use a silicone spray um this is the spray I use I recommend liquid wrench the most but that stuff stinks I tried this stuff out it's called CRC food grade silicone um but this is food grade I notice it evaporates quicker it's not as slick and oily as like liquid wrench or a poplar um silicone spray they recommend and the chasing Innovation Facebook group which is Q8 um but I think this like found in retail on the market over in Europe but you just want to make sure I'm back it says it's safe for plastic um you can even you know see what some of these RC car groups or RC boat groups are using the lubricate their Motors up um but again liquid wrench works really good I'll pulsive affiliate link down below this one's decent but I bought it because it's just less stinky that liquid wrench using it inside oh my God I can stink up your whole house but I do this every three to four Dives um maybe sometimes even more often and afterwards I'll run my finger will not actually run my finger but I'll touch the motor and back of these motors the the propeller part and move it back and forth and see well does that still seem like it the way it feeled when it was stock run it run your finger back and forth moving these propellers and thrusters to see if you're feeling any grittiness and if you're still feeling a lot of grittiness and they're about to lock up they're definitely gonna need some silk silicone spray and this is one of the maintenance things you can do every so often and if your underwater drone sits own those ones a little gritty um you know if you let your underwater drone sit for a while you won't want to do that every soft and you know keep it upstairs in your bedroom or something but in the closet and go over it with your finger move that Thruster back and forth see if it's a little gritty and then I might need you know uh some more silicone spray that's a thing that I kind of thought up and just noticing you know when I'm trying to clean these motors and re-lubricate them up um there's things like that you can do to sense that there's a problem with these motors and they just need you know to be uh lubricated up again now salt water um the one thing I noticed when I went down to Florida and I did a little surf fishing for Snookers and I used a spinning reel is even though I rinsed it and dipped this friggin spinning Grill in like a bucket of water and I lubricated I want to say up every four to five Expeditions fishing Expeditions along the surf it was still locking up and if that's still locking up in a spinning reel from just the salt water and the overspray of the ocean I mean occasionally I would dip it in the water accidentally well that told me that something like these these simple plastic you know uh uh propellers in the cheaper material they use inside for these motors is going to lock up very simply too and I started I noticed I had to do like every other fishing Expedition I had to re-oil my spinning reel up and this was the first year I ever fished on at Marco Island it's just that salt water is very corrosome and this is the thing it's not only just for spinning reels but also like outboard motors like I know people and I've heard horror stories on the both forms of people buying these um specifically made Yamaha outboard motors that say salt water on them and they're made out of stainless steel components but they found to also lock up too um especially if they're not taking carrot for and it just a lot of people will start trying to blame the company because they're not taking care of their outboard motor or they're not taking care of the spinning reel some of these companies can only do so much to make these uh products a lot better made them make them out of stainless steel it's up to the consumer to take care of them you know you can't blame the amount of corrosion that salt produces an ocean and it's just like absolutely insane so what I'm getting is I think a lot of the complaints what's going on with these chasing m2s is people getting out using them in salt water basically doing what they recommend the company running in the tub you know flush out the motors and just your underwater drone might sit in the closet for a month and they come back and these motors are basically locked up uh salt water's a man I know these motors you're trying to seal them up better they're trying to use better uh materials but still keep the cost down I don't think that's gonna matter I mean we might come across a technology that we might have to not do as much maintenance as we are now but I highly recommend what I'm getting at it if you're going to use this in salt water or any weather any other underwater drone in general you almost got a use silicone spray on the motors after every dive I sort it out that that that's how corrosive that salt is that's what I recommend some people say they can't I think the companies can say they can avoid warranty but again this is a two thousand three thousand dollar drone you gotta take care of it you might not have to worry about the fresh water but salt water eats up the motors really quickly and here's another thing I talked about again silicone spray flushing out the motors putting a uh uh in a tub afterwards well I think this is another thing that people are running into is especially in salt water there's a grease stock around these ports um even this uh you know this this top here with SG carport is it unscrews this they got rubber gaskets around these ports especially the SD card where that goes um you got like a port down below here um for the claw you want You're Gonna Want to re-grease these ports up every so often and buy yourself a good pure silicone grease this is by Trident I highly recommend buying this brand I'll buy the or I'll uh post affiliate link down below but in doing so re-gracing these gaskets around these ports um you're gonna reseal these rubber gaskets and prevent any type of leakage and I suspect again salt water it's corrosive it eats at that grease dries it out especially when you bring it back up and you let it sit it dries it out a lot quicker and then people put it back in the water don't realize realize they have to re-grease these ports and gaskets very important and that it ends up leaking um so that's something to think about I saw this is just starting to be talked about on underwater drone Facebook groups it should have been I don't know if it's in the manual it should have been talked about more often I think some of the leaking and this might be why the battery got exposed to some water and basically broke down and just stopped working for some people with the chasing up to they have a rubber gasket at this replaceable battery remember this is just it's partially sealed up um they have a rubber gasket back there and you have to re-grease this up I suspect if you don't do that where this replaceable battery attaches to the main body of the chasing until it starts to leak and possibly ruin the battery so again Trident silicone grease we're not talking about just specs here we're trying to you know increase the longevity of this chasing M2 and make it a more um enjoyable way to use these underwater drums because I hate seeing these reports of people buying underwater drones and then they think they got a lemon I'm sure just like cars I'm sure people do get lemons but I suspect knowing what I've seen in a car hobby I know people that love cars but they just don't take care of them and then they start bitching the company they don't realize they're just not taking care of them there's a lot of maintenance involved especially in salt water uh since you know if you're going to be using this in fresh water I'm sure you don't have to use that silicone grease as often again just two different forms of water and it just there's maintenance evolved to these things so um I think next we can finally talk about stabilization um so when I first bought this underwater drone I was checking out of course other videos people posted on Instagram great source um people posted of course on YouTube everyone knows that part platform and people also post on Facebook and I noticed with this underwater drone since I had eight thrusters I was quite worried even though his Omni movement which I'm going to get into next is super beneficial I love it you got to get underwater drone with Omni movement every so often I want to say every two to three movements it would just violently shake and I saw that in the video footage oh my God that looks bad um I was quite worried um but then I saw dust and Dunhill basically posted a video like a few months back when this first came out just a few months back before this came out it was with the five fish V6 it was doing a similar thing um and what I saw afterwards with that video is um I think the company was kind of pissed he posted it they improved with the software update to proved the algorithm and they're able to get those Kinks and those shakes out and now that platform which is based you know the V6 the v6s the V6 ashbert and the V6 plus it runs very smoothly in the ocean even little turbulence and that has I think um six or eight thrusters on it and it has like Omni movements so I thought well if they can improve with that underwater drone with a software update they'll be able to do it with that with the chasing them too what do you know I was right they come out this software update in the app settings that called was called Power linear I'll post a photo up above here you know people choose sometimes choose a straight line but now they have this curved line and what that means is when you choose that setting of the controller when you press that joystick down the power is not shooting right into the Thruster Motors it's slowly going into the Thruster motor is that way you're not getting as much jerking you know jarring around on say like the two or three different movements you're making with the uh you know with the underwater drone with you know the Omni movement so you know now it does have a thrusters you you know I suspect there's gonna be a little jar around and it might be inevitable but I'll tell you what after that update I was impressed and I think they release a few more update updates after that this thing is pretty smooth now and I'm very impressed um I'm gonna be getting to the Omni movement next but next thing I want to touch upon is the Eis image stabilization not impressed at all but I think with time again this is like software issue like if they can make some more updates that they kind of can replicate the stabilization with a GoPro I think they're on hyper smooth 4 now and replicate that and you know combine that with the new software update with power liner they'll make for one incredible Smooth video footage you know moving this underwater drone right now I mean there's still a little shaking involved but honestly I think it's pretty smooth considering this is a new platform I'm I'm very impressed at first I was worried stabilization is very important for me when I bought a camera camera or should I say camcorder I was looking at all the cameras people harped on the dslrs people harped on about the um mirrorless I only had around a grand to spend and I thought well I also see other people talking about this Sony ax 53 which is a camcorder and it basically has a built-in gimbal you're going to sacrifice you know video quality with a cheaper sensor which I think it's a 2.5 sensor instead of getting like a one inch sensor with a DSLR but for me it was worth it there's a lot of shaking out on the lake of Lake Sinclair it gets rough out there I wanted a camera that's pretty stable so I can feel Wildlife other boats Freighters going by and for that reason I'll I'm very happy for that camera and if they can replicate that maybe do something built in gimbal or you know they call it boss stabilization on the Sony X x 53 or just again replicate something similar GoPro digital stabilization man it can make for one smooth operating underwater drone and allow this to be you know a lot more enjoyable to watch on YouTube um so that's what I'll say about Eis you know it's not really good right now it's wavy it's distorting and honestly I don't use it at all so you know with time again I think the bill to improve those things but for now I leave it off when I'm filming um so I think we can finally talk about Omni movement here um you know when you buy an underwater drone this is a must um I think you know for the most part I I think it's a must I mean I'll be comparing this to the T1 and of course uh you know some people call the most stable underwater drone on the market even Dustin Dunhill said he was impressed with how stable it was was a nevadics Mido and that has four thrusters it's able to um I think position like I don't know 45 degree angle and up or something and move around but it just cannot do lateral movement it cannot go 90 degrees it can't twirl it can't do um any tilt or what do they call it on I'm rotating so um even though that's a very stable drone it's something you want to think about purchasing if you're looking to do professional photography or even the Mini S one app down below here um I still recommend the underwater drone with Omni movement the reason being is because I've done my I've done my shirt of filming fish and one of the most important things I noticed is getting up next to the fish you know you can get some cool shots from the front on an angle if you're you know under Rodger either turns or left or right that's the only thing it can do but when you get out next to it and you're able to do lateral movement or what some video game people or Gamers call strafing left and right um you're able to capture like the whole length of the fish and here's a video of when I was over at the Huron River remind you there's current there it was super murky this is like middle winter I was able to get right next beside That Fish and Farm around like weaving in and out even though I did ladder movement I was able to go diagonally too when you kind of get close to me it was wicked it was absolutely amazing me the footage might not be that great but remind it was super murky that day um there's again current over there but I was able to follow the smallmouth bass round it was like one of the first times where I was able to really show how that lateral movement shines and I was just blown away I'm like this is very important for even just filming fish and after using it how could I downgrade he knew something else even though it might be more stable so I still think even though this drone has still a little shakiness though I think what time they'll improve that stabilization the lateral movement with the a Thruster design is still worth it um for filming fish because you're able to get alongside that fish and I'll get into how important that lateral movement is for using a cloth and it's a must if you thinking about doing treasure hunting with the underwater drone with the claw is very important now there's other things you can do with Amino movement again um rotate kind of turn on its side like so bada bing that's pretty cool um I think there's more for appla but you can do weird filming with that as well too um I think going at a 90 degree angle is very important also to film like the sun the surface you can get some really cool shots of looking at fish underneath and looking at fish down below rather than going like a 45 degree angle with something such as the nevadics mini so even for filming I think though having Omni movements very important people will probably and I'm still you know some people will say like stabilizations more important but I tend to disagree after filming fish with the lateral movement and the Omni movement be able to go do all those things I'll never downgrade to another underwater drone um yeah I guess we can go on the claw before we get to the weak points of this underwater drone um just knock this out real quick this is like the most exciting thing you know the reason I bought the DNA LT1 is it had a claw I want to pick some stuff up off the bottom of the Walk off the bottom line fishing lures weird treasure who knows what I don't know you could find like a set of expensive Ray-Bans down there from the 1980s I don't know my sister Lots so many Ray-Bans back in the 80s you just don't never know what you're gonna find and I thought you know that's one of the reasons I like fishing when you hook into something you just never know what's gonna surface and what you got hooked on your line and it's the same thing when you send this down below I've seen so many weird down there old anchors I mean it might be like vintage you bring that up it might be worth something um but there's maintenance to these claws too and you got to be careful them um but getting to before getting into what I did with Plasti Dip I want to say that Omni movement is very important for using the claw um some you know they're starting you know basically there's six thrusters on the Gina gionino21 it can only basically turn so it could only turn like this you have an i you have an item in front it can only turn so when you're trying to pick an item and you're like a little off and you turn and you think you're on it and you move forward you're gonna miss it and the one thing I read on these Facebook groups the janino Facebook groups is they're missing um the items on the bottom a lot of times it wasn't very precise or accurate um they try to put foam on the the pull of the Quad to give it more buoyancy to give it more precision still didn't work as well but then this chasing M2 came out and I tell you one of the first Dives I started picking up stuff I found out how important it is to have Omni movement lateral movement you know how important it is when you are off center a little you know Overkill just do a little to the left a little strafing you're lined up move forward and you're locked down press down on that button to grab that item whatever you're picking up and it's super pro precise easy easy that I'll I'll post this video up over the spillway super murky down there I pick up this small striking crankbait and I was like a little off I used a little lateral moment I was still a little off moved over to the left a little more and once I knew it was on move forward and I picked that item up and it was barely hooked on anything and I was able to hone in on that and I picked up all types of this different smaller things golf balls small piece of plastic Mentos candy cartridge I picked up like a top of a bolt over gross playing in the eye Club this thing is super precise and a lot of the reasons I think it's precise is that lateral moment and if you notice getting back to rotation this is where rotating is important comes in hand when I saw those clay pigeons down there over at the little Club I was able to rotate get up on that weird angled item which is shaped like a bowl and pick it up on its Edge even though it's shaped like a bowl I was able to pick it up I brought like two or three clay pigeons up and how important that is that well if you watch World War II history Hunters video he picked up some old German bowls off the bottom of his Lake and I looked up how much those are worth like 500 a pop so if you find something Awkward on the bottom well this Omni movement is very important whether you're um lateral moment rotating and another thing is 90 degree angle some of these underwater drums can only go 45 degrees like the g90 T1 and if you're trying to pick something up and you can't go 90 degrees like I have most of the time that's how I'm picking stuff up is 90 degrees well that's another drawback so if you're looking to use this for treasure hunting um you don't want to have an underwater drone with Omni movement and it showed how important that is um I'm Blown Away how fun it is to treasure a hunt with this technology it's absolutely amazing and when they first came out this claw [Music] uh the software was kind of shitty in order to open and close it you press this button right here and pressing it right now so in order to close it you just kind of like touch it it was solely closed um in order to reverse and open I think you had to hold it down super long or push it twice or something and then it would um open it might have been twice whatever it was it was a pain in the ass but anyways it released a software update and they went from this to the dial ever since they went to the dial even more and precise again this is a new platform you know give them some leeway they're making improvements but ever since they went to denial they're the dial oh man super smooth easier to use pick up smallest items again so this is a golf ball top of Bolt small crank bait bass crankbait absolutely super impressed so very awesome since they've done that um I really can't wait to get out and use it again because that reason that dial has made using the clock so much more enjoyable and another thing I did you know these claws were starting to leak for qic chasing Invasion um I don't know how much how prevalent that was you know how many every soft and Claws that were put out that they leaked stocking Factory or it might be just the fact that they're picking up heavy items off the bottom in this metal poles flexing these gaskets are getting loose reminding you this is two pieces two pieces so if it's two pieces and these rubber gaskets here and it's flexing it's gonna start leaking so what I did is I looked up and I saw that RC cars and boats they would use Plasti Dip to basically seal up like electronics and electrical boards on these remote control cars and boats and they would use plasti dips so what I did was I put it around the seams and I thought longevity wise this would seal up this claw and prevent it from leaking and another thing is these screws they use cheap metal on them they weren't stainless steel they started oxidizing so in order or since I plasti dipped that it stopped that prevented that from rusting and oxidizing it I highly recommend this um you know it's a little blotchy looking but the Plasti Dip is black colored and it matches um the paint on the pole of the claw perfectly so you know Blends in really nicely alright so since I talked about a lot of the pros of this underwater drone I'm very impressed with it um there are some cons and you know the reason you want to critique or criticize an underwater drone is fill the company up with information so they can improve the underwater drone I'll tell you a story okay um before I get into some of the cons I went on a Facebook group uh one of the I think it was just the chasing Innovation group and people were recommending these for Public Safety police officers um firefighting you're not pulling it out some of the negatives of them and they didn't like hearing about it and it's just like I told them well this isn't really I would say an industrial underwater drone for those purposes I think it could get away from for Doc expansion agriculture inspection even some of that commercial pond fishing and you know with catfish and um fixing gnats um I'm gonna do five fish V6 expert came out with something you can attach the claw to fix and that things like that but like police work where they're going to be getting rough with the underwater drone or firefighting where there's heat this is a plastic shell I'm just you know I just gained my input one of the third party uh companies that sell kind of blocked me I'm like in order to give your input even you know talk about all the positivities remind you I am positive about this underwater drone I'm blown away I'll be giving you know what star review I give that then and it's great um but when people like get triggered by just critiquing and giving criticizing an underwater drone they can't take it well you start to realize some of these people are lying about the use lying about some of the cons saying it's always perfect you gotta watch out for those things you gotta look for more honesty and like I said in order to improve on underwater drone the company does need to be getting uh the information back so they can improve it here's some of the cons and you know here's some of the feedback that's how you improve a product um but some of these third-party companies they're just looking to make a buck okay they really are so you got to be careful when you're asking questions from just the standard retailers or even the company itself look at YouTube videos see what you know other people are saying in the Facebook groups that actually own these underwater drones but some of the negative qualities I pointed out on their Facebook group and that third-party company didn't like and he blocked me was basically the one of the cheapest Parts in this underwater drone was the battery clip on back this is very brittle um I was just basically moving the underwater drone around and I snapped that clip around the battery pretty quickly one day it just broke right in the middle I'm like man that's super brittle that's cheap and then I had to look up what retailer that actually had Clips it took me a while but since I do web design it didn't take me too long to find a company that but there was only one it was Blue Sky drones um that had a replaceable clip and luckily you know meanwhile I was still like contact the company or like well you know it's going to take like 30 to ship from China I'm like well I don't want to pay that I don't want to wait like a month to get a piece of plastic clip luckily blue skies had a few in and they shipped them out and to me that's not a really negative quality but it shows that if you're going to use this for please please work or firefighting something you gotta be concerned about and you might want to be more careful with these in a rock drones so you might want to go with something more resilient such as like I don't know M2 Pro M2 Pro Max made out of stronger stuff um or even the V6 plus that has metal propellers um and what I'm about to get into next is one of the biggest pros of the v6s and V6 plus is this plastic bracket back here you know you connect the tether to the port in front here to power up this underwater drone but then you take the tether Loop and wrap it around this little piece of plastic cheap plastic bracket back here and it makes me wonder if they even thought about using this underwater drone with the claw for picking up items off the bottom the one thing I know about fishing is fishing lures get snagged on the bottom so if you're trying to rip stuff off the bottom and the teller you know when you're trying to pull it up with your hands um this clip could easily break or say you're trying to pull up something heavy off the bottom and using the tether this clip could easily break and that's one of the things again I pointed out on the Facebook group and I think that triggered in that company to block me too and that is a cheap part that's a very weak point of this underwater drone one of the biggest features one of the biggest benefits with the v6s and V6 plus by qyc is they have a thick plastic handle back there and here's a video of world World War II history Hunter picking up an old German ammo box from the bottom Lake and it still had ammo in it you could see like the you know the Slick oil and all that stuff around it seeping in the water and he was able to take up the tether and it's putting a lot of pressure on that plastic handle back there but that it's that solid and that's strong he was able to still pull that um ammo box up and it was I was super impressed I'm like man you know why didn't chasing Innovation do something like that was it you know I'm too I I don't know I don't know what the engineers were thinking when they did that um because obviously one of the ways again you're gonna be picking stuff up is with the tether and putting pressure on uh that bracket back there and what they did is they'll all props to chasing they're obviously listening and I'll I post this on my underwater droneform.com they made a basically instead of this plastic bracket now they got a metal bracket attached to this aluminum alloy cage of the M2 Pro Max and then they got a metal clip that attaches to the metal bracket and then they got a metal Loop that like is on the inside of the tether and it's super resilient now I suspect and you're able to pick up heavy uh things off the bottom this is something like an aftermarket company that could do since you can attach stuff to this aluminum alley coage I could they someone could fabricate something up right at these two screw holes and screw it in and then you know you can attach the loop to that metal bracket I'm surprised an aftermarket company hasn't done that yet and there is a lot of aftermarket companies starting to pop up just like for cars they're starting to pop up for these underwater drones which is cool and come out their own accessories such as like here's a photo of a dude attaching his own custom claw to the five fish V6 reminding the V6 can attach a claw to it but he fabricated something up super neat so if you just have the V6 model check out that spring-loaded club pretty awesome and another thing you know not I think that's the biggest drawback to chasing him too um the other thing is my tether went bad it wasn't the port that went bad but I think it came like that from the factory um when I screwed it in it was tight I would wobble like that connector it would disconnect the power would go on and off it wasn't from that video where I'm like slamming the top of it to the top of the ice it was like that from the factory but I was screwing around there's a seagull I try to scare him that one video one was Winter out and I was just like hitting on a top lies with any with no care in general I just I wanted to do something stupid you can have a lot of fun of these underwater drones but I think I add a lot too much from because I think I did it once in a lost power but once this another company sent me this mini ass free well I use the tether from that for this chasing them too that problem went away soon so it told me it wasn't the port sometimes you do have to take away toothbrush and clean those metal uh connectors in there if they become oxidized it wasn't anything like that they weren't oxidized or anything it was just the cable I'm the tether so simple fix something that you really don't have to worry about too much but you know it is a drawback and I've heard other people talk about how the tethers have gone bad but getting past that man I have to say there really isn't that many negative cons or negative qualities of the chasing up too this is a solid underwater drone I've had it for two years 50 Dives none of the motors have gone by but again I take care of it I use silicone spray dilute them back up every so often I Go Again downstairs where I keep this underwater drone move those motor Motors every so often and um make sure there's no grid them and keep them uh running smooth now people have complained sometimes whether it's the five fish or the chasing of two of these plastic propellers getting eat up easily by the seaweed the gravel on the bottom um they're a little nicked up after two years but just tiny nothing bad I haven't replaced your pellers I haven't replaced the thrusters they're running great it runs the overall great after two years that's very impressive to me but again you know I take care of my stuff so something to think about other people I don't know but I have heard negative quality of the v6s and I don't know if they improve this the expert but the plastic they're using for propellers people were just going through weeds and I post this on my forum and the plastic material was super soft with the V6 might have been the v6s and just going through weeds was eating up the propellers you go through sand it was really bad and people were placing I think propellers after only a few Dives Gladys Mini was a lot better they used a real more hardened plastic um and I think they use a similar material with the M2 so it's something you really don't have to worry about with chasing Innovation they always used a strong plastic again the V6 plus has metal propellers but who can afford like nine grand for an underwater drone but I always wonder if you could take those metal propellers buy some from the company and put it on the V6 Astor expert but I bet you they're like you gotta show us that you own the V6 Plus in order to do so so it's something to think about but I wonder if an Afro American company can can eventually come out of metal propellers um for these underwater drones make them more resilient so now the company might go after him because I I don't we'll see what happens um but I'm Mighty impressed with that now there is another drawback I didn't have this problem is replaceable battery um again one of the reasons I bought this on our drone was not just because the claw but the removable SD card port and also the replaceable battery I was blown away for those reasons but people the battery was filling after like I think a few months with some people like I said it could be that they're using a salt water they weren't regressing up that O-ring in there that gasket and water was sink band or salt water was seeping in and ruined the battery or here's the thing when I get out of my bolt using my trolling motor and Battery as soon as I get back to the house I put that battery on a trickle charger same thing with this as soon as I get back to the house I want this battery charged up and if it's sitting I want to make sure it's at 100 all the time so I go back after a month or two has been sitting a few weeks and put this on the charger I had it for two years the battery hasn't gone bad um but I've heard people complain about that and something to think about but I haven't had any problems um another thing to talk about uh I think we're getting down to the knit and gritty here we're almost finished oh with the review um I don't want to talk too much about this estimates how long this underwater drone will last for because there's times when I haven't used it with the claw and it lasts long longer when using the claw um you know it sucks up more juice there's times where I'm going super fast in the water cruising around looking for things and I've sucked up my juice and didn't last but I would say you get to good like I don't know hour and a half two hours depending on how maybe even longer but I'm still impressed with it I'm not too worried about that anyways because again removable batteries and again I still have the same battery it came with they do have even bigger battery that you can get more you know usable time out of it if you want a longer time so it's really nothing you you should be worried about um like I said I'm not going to get too much into the specs but this had a my Genero T1 had like a 2.5 sensor this is a 2.3 sensor but I am very impressed how clear um the quality of video footage I get from the sensor and the camera on this underwater drone has a pretty good aperture I think I'm able to really still grab quality video footage even in murky wire because you know again I use this in fresh water um if I was to rate this over five stars I would give it like 4 out of 5 Stars maybe even four and a half out of five stars I'm very impressed with it even though it has some cons um again it's a new platform considering it's like a new platform this is like the first gen for that M2 platform um I'm super impressed I'm very impressed you know I think any type of electronic that you know combine water with it you're probably gonna run into some problems I know even like even the GoPro I think they're on like the 10th or 11th generation they've run into problems throughout the years and you want to give feedback and that again critique criticize in order to improve these underwater drones and hopefully the feedback is a company and can they can make Improvement improvements for it but I'm Mighty impressed with it um you know some recommendations this is getting down to the technology um then I'm starting to see come out for other under water drones that hit the consumer Market it's something something like uh um Vision lock qyc just came out with this for the V6 Plus um where it they're able to lock on an object in the water whether it's like Coral I think another fish uh like a bottom down anchor and they're able to swirl around that object or even move laterally side to side if chasing Innovation can come out with something similar to that that would be awesome they could probably take us to places with like falling fish around where it doesn't autonomously or like I took out I think this out ice fishing and I wanted to like hone in on like you know how you dangle like a fishing layer or live bait um kind of what uh uh peel and drag does you know he's got his camera and one ice fishing hole he's got the rod and another ice fishing hole dangling bait well I always thought well we put the underwater drone next to the bait and watch you know the fish come up to it I tried doing an OverWatch drone but it always kind of like I'm trying to use a rod I'm trying to control the Drone well if you can lock on that lure or that live bait autonomously well you can see what all the different species of fish come up to and that would be super neat that would be a super neat software feature for the chasing M2 and now that the V or the um I have the V6 expert headed on its way over to my house I can't wait to try out that new software update see how well it works so I can't wait um that's something I think chasing can work on I think they've seen it I'm sure they're working on it as we speak um the pricing I think with time's gonna come down um you're starting to see some underwater drones that are cheaper such as the Mini S starting to get equipped with claws and this is only a grand I think the claw is like 500 so with the clots 1500 and they finally added in an st SD Port up here um so you're seeing starting to see some of like the features see on the more expensive drones it's the M2 Pro on a cheaper underwater drone so this is the Mini S a claw and and um SD parts so that's pretty impressive um but again this underwater drone can only do so much but I think it's still having that claw in the Mini S you're still going to be able to pick up stuff I'm sure of it you just gotta work on it practice with it just like with video games using your controller um another thing I do not want to figure or forget is again one of the main reasons um I don't want to forget mentions one of the main reasons that I bought this was I was impressed oh I gotta get rid of the T1 because first off chasing said it's coming off coming with replaceable battery SD card Port um and I'm able to that means I'll be able to gather Out full day's worth you know I can bring extra batteries along extra SD cards however um they didn't make a replaceable battery for the controller I thought this clip back here was where you could change out the lithium battery no I think this is Raider for four to six hours but say you're using it in in the winter well guess what you know Cold's gonna come crashing down in this battery it's only gonna last for some so long so what you can do is since I have someone's you know this company sent me Mini S I now have two controllers so I can I can now basically get out a full day's worth of using this uh but this is kind of unacceptable if they made a replaceable battery for the Drone itself you think they're able to do it with the controller so um hopefully the company can work on that maybe they did that purposely so you do have to buy another controller um and they can make more money off you and I'll say this I think it's great that chasing Innovation came out as like open cage design um easy to work on the this underwater drone easier to add in modifications needle super plus um but the one thing I know know about is an automotive industry back in the 60s and 70s the engine Bays or these muscle cars were easy to work on and once the company found that out that they're losing money on this by doing in doing so you can start slowly seeing the 80s 90s and up until now they kept making these cars harder to work on because they knew they were losing money and so in doing so they knew you had to like any time yet or play something do any maintenance such as oil uh change that they made it harder to work on and so you had to take to the dealership I wonder if these companies will start doing that with these underwater drills hopefully they don't um but I that's again another big plus is this open cage design is easy to work on any other consumer underwater drone in the market but something to think about what happened in the automotive industry will these companies start to realize realize that with these underwater drones so they can make more profit so you have to like send it to them to work on um they have done that with these cell phones or originally they had a removable battery well guess what now when the battery goes bad you had to buy a new cell phone should be a removable battery in that controller so you don't have to buy a second or third but it is what it is so something to think about um that about wraps it up I think I basically covered everything I want to do with this chasing them to if I left something out comment down below I'll be having to answer um I'm just Mighty impressed with it again four or four and a half out of five stars I love it the technology can only get better from here on out in order to do so got a little give a little criticism got a critique at a level get a little feedback so the company can improve it but you know it amazingly you know how people are on social media and you do a little critiquing of their favorite product well it might block you but they don't realize well in doing so you're being honest you're actually improving the product so in the long run um I love this underwater drone be careful using an assault wire again looking in the maintenance using special silicone spray the grease around the ports um using plastic dip on the claw anything you can do again this candle is kind of about longevity for our health well it is also about extending the life of your fishing products my fishing reels my underwater drones using you know heavy duty gear to better your hobby at overall so Eternal angler over and out tight lines Anglers you take care and another thing I forgot to mention this um no matter what underwater drone you're using you're gonna have to get some sort of sun visor um not only to block out the Sun but a good sun visor is important where you can basically look down at the Drone when you're using and look up real quickly you know why so another boat doesn't run over your tether and you know at first I was like all about having some sort of fpv goggles and I'll post these I think it was unique fpv goggles I bought they're kind of cool and I thought you got to have an extra battery there to basically support the power supply going to them and it's the extra weight on your head in order to look up and see if a boat's getting close to you so it doesn't run over a tether you gotta disconnect them take them off worry about dropping in the water all that well with these this sun visor this is the best thing you can do for your iPad [Music] um this sun visor basically blocks out all the light and almost is basically like having fbv goggles it almost looks virtual reality like so by this this is the hood man Aviator hav2 awesome for um the chasing M2 and any other underwater drone for that reason like I said made this uh for a review for the chasing M2 but I'm mentioning other things too if you're another you know older owner of other underwater you know another thing is it's cool because it has this like flexible um fabric underneath here and you can slide in your finger and whatever you need to hit on the app on your iPad to change the settings whenever you need to do or just hit the record button simply you know hit the record button on your iPad you can do so by just sliding in your hand and pressing with your fingers so that's super cool gotta get this uh sun visor so um I had to mention that I forgot it cut forgot to mention that review but I was kind of like focusing more on the underwater drone again you have to be a little worried about other boats running over your tether because that has happened and I've heard reports sadly on the different underwater drone Facebook groups so you know and having this Hood man you're able to look up real quickly rather than having some sort of headset on or any other cheap some visor and you would think the wind blows us around it's not it's like once you use these straps to latch on like a controller an iPad it ain't going anywhere you kind of like use your head to staple it out when you know using your hands on the controller it's not going anymore this is like the best invention ever made for not only underwater drones but aerial drones as well too so I'll pulse the affiliate down below again the hood man hav2 awesome awesome buy so before I had to put like a blanket over my head oh my God what a painter ass was there's a good recommendation by Franklin Murphy he's not like Gladys mini but I'm glad I bought that and it just a lot easier to use and before you know I hear a bow coming I have to like take the blanket off so anyways take these guys
