everybody coach Jason with honor pitching development back for another session helping you amplify your mechanics and grow your pitching knowledge all this by hitting the subscribe button so tonight we're going over must-do pitching drills for any upcoming youth pitching guy you're a little guy you're teaching little guys I'm talking about hey eight through twelve maybe even thirteen depends on their ability at that moment or how much IQ they have in the position but these are must do pitching drills that we're gonna cover tonight all right so the first must do pitching drill for us is the finish drill okay so whenever we're trying to develop a young pitcher we try to start backwards to get forwards on the mound okay so we do everything with the end game in mind I've got my bucket here I'm gonna grab a couple of baseballs so we go into what's called is the transition phase the transition of the hips coming from closed position we've already come into rotation we're in our split stance here ready and cocked phase to throw the baseball forward so we'll start here run this right keep everything centered run it right into the glove there's how many must work external rotation through the arm here and then work to release the hand off and finish the pitch so I'll give you a couple examples here just jog the arm nice and slow kind of a slight rock back from the pivot step of the plant step here back and alright so your heads on frame everything still again jogging the honor nice free easy relaxed back all right our second drill our second must do drill when developing youth pitchers is our stride separation drill we call it a scarecrow drill here at our pitching development I want to show you that just grab a baseball we're going to come into our stride and separation here try to stay oh fairly comfortable in your stance here let's bring the arms up into your kind of power position at this point trying to engage the scouts just a little bit trying to keep your chin over your core eyes on frame kind of use your elbow is kind of a gun side here put the weight a little bit of weight into the back leg into the quadricep here we're just going to run it up back down and tap so we're going to do this three times two and three offer up our third one we're going to go ahead and throw the pitch so the important thing to note on doing the striding separation drill the Scarecrow drill is to keep your head still while you're throwing in frame and then I try to hold the balance at the end to present the pitch just a little bit better staying behind it so that's just a little insider tip there for you guys on drill number two all right number three must do pitching drill for all youth guys is our low balance drive drill so what we do here is start at the low balance break position so what I mean by low balance is you're coming off of your load going back down to low balance and your break is here with your thumbs inward what we're doing is putting a little bit of weight on the back leg and then we're gonna work into our stride and separation from that point okay so again remember we're working backwards to get forwards down the mound so this is low balance break here into stride separation pitch throw follow-through so just like drill number two one point of emphasis I trying to do on that drill is at the end I try to hold and balance through the finish a little bit with the younger guys just to develop a little more balanced posture through the end of their pitch and stay on the pitch just a little bit longer than they may be otherwise doing number four must do pitch when developing youth pitchers is our load and go okay so we went through the finish we've gone through the striding separation phase we've gone through the load balance base now we're gonna do the build up phase which is a loading go so you again you'll start at the low balance break position and from here you'll work up and what we try to do is give it a three pump and then we go out to the delivery of our pitch again I try to keep this things as simple as possible when doing these drills and breaking it down for youth pitching guys again at the end I try to hold my balance at the end just again two birds in a little more hip flexor strength and development of lead leg block as well so anyways that's four must do drills if you're developing a youth pitching guy at ages eight through twelve thirteen somewhere in that range hey I hope you enjoyed the video tonight on must-do youth team drills hey if you guys find value in the videos we shoot here at our pitching development please do a favor and hit the subscribe button to follow us along for more tips drills exercises and workouts if you got a question or comment drop that below and until we shoot the next video I'll see you next time [Music]
