Spanish Lesson: Describing Yourself

Objectives

• Learn to describe yourself in Spanish using basic vocabulary and patterns.
• Introduce yourself using your name, birthplace, birthdate, and other basic personal information.

Basic Spanish Greetings

• Hola: Hello (do not pronounce the 'H').
• Buenos días: Good morning (used before noon).
• Buenas tardes: Good afternoon (used from noon to around 6-7 p.m.).
• Buenas noches: Good evening/night (used after dark).

Introduction Questions and Responses

• ¿Cómo te llamas?: What is your name?
  • Respond with: Me llamo [Your Name].
• ¿Cómo estás?: How are you?
  • Respond with: Estoy bien, gracias. ¿Y tú? (I'm well, thank you. And you?)
• ¿De dónde eres?: Where are you from?
  • Respond with: Soy de [Your Place of Origin].
  • Example for nationality: Soy estadounidense (I am American).
• ¿Cuántos años tienes?: How old are you?
  • Respond with: Tengo [Your Age] años.
• ¿Cuál es tu correo electrónico?: What is your email?
  • Respond with: Mi correo electrónico es [Your Email].
• ¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono?: What is your phone number?

• ¿Qué tiempo hace?: What is the weather like?
  • Possible responses:
    • Hace viento: It is windy.
    • Está nublado: It is cloudy.

    • Hace buen tiempo: It is good weather.
    • Hace frío: It is cold.
    • Hace mal tiempo: It is bad weather.
