hi everyone good day and for today we'll be having our first session for the method that we'll be having in the Scholar Nursing Review. And for today, we will try to be more familiar with the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination because it is important that our Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination should know what we are asking for. seldomly no it is very seldom to the Laganah didn't discuss for a Philippine nurse licensure examination as the entire concept or he actually said the need discuss that's why it's very important for Someone who will take the PNLE knows, right?
He knows even if it's just a basic understanding, he has it. Because majority of the students sitting down in the PNLE don't really know what's the PNLE all about. Okay, so for session 1, we will be having the concept of understanding the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination. Okay, so ano nga ba ang PNLE? So the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination or PNLE is the professional licensure examination for incoming nurses in the country.
So wala pong ibang binibigay na eksaminasyon sa Pilipinas kundi ang PNLE po lamang. Okay, it is managed and administered by the Professional Regulation Commission or the PRC. And of course, this is also...
or governed by the board of nursing under professional regulation commission so um as we continue no the test draw basic knowledge skills and attitudes in the following major subjects we need to remember this one okay when taking down or absorbing the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination, we need to remember that those questions that will be thrown to us in the PNLE, those are actually basic concepts. Okay, yun yung nakakalimutan ng isang estudyante na magt-take ng PNLE. Sa dinami-dami ng inaaral, sa dinami-dami ng inaaral natin, we always forget of the basic knowledge.
that we should possess and we should know. So we easily jump off to those complex concepts that sometimes we forget the basic knowledge, the basic information that we should know when it comes to nursing concepts. So sometimes we already know what are the pathophysiologies of the patients. Most of those are westernized concepts. That's why I always discourage Most of the time, I always discourage my students to read NCLEX-based review materials because PNLE as an examination is totally different from the NCLEX.
Although the nursing education in the entire world is universal in nature, however, there's this total difference when it comes to approaches. on the westernized setting versus the philippine setting that's why you might group on a pin it's always indicated in the first page or in the cover not for sale outside the Philippines so good info okay so the test throws basic knowledge skills and attitudes in the following major subjects una una okay fundamentals of nursing of course no hell in Latin Yan the prof add okay so By the way, in Fundamentals of Nursing, that's where our nursing theories are located, or the first major subject in the nursing school, which is your theoretical foundations of nursing. Okay?
So, the second is the Prof. Ad, or your professional adjustment. That's where our professional adjustment, leadership management, and research are located, as well as your ethics. and morals, okay? Ethical moral concepts, nandyan po yan sa ating prof ad or your professional adjustment, okay?
Another is, of course, napakalaking concept nito, maternal and childhood nursing. And then pang-apat, we have your community health, and communicable disease nursing. Hindi po yan nawawala. And of course, your nursing of adolescents, adults, and aged.
So this is purely your medical, surgical nursing. And of course, your mental health and psychiatric. nursing so these are the basic major subjects no content of our Philippine Nurse Lesson and Your Examination. So we need to remember that all of these things are what we studied in the nursing school. So don't worry, don't be worried.
And actually, as I always say to my students, that the preparation should begin on day one in the nursing school and not in the review, you should prepare for the board exam. So it should be a mental model of every nursing student that the day of preparation for the board examination or the pnle is not in the review it's not in the fourth year it's not in your competency appraisal subjects but it's on day one of your uh nursing school okay so basically these are our major subjects however no meron dp puta in tinatawag na mga um other subjects na kung saan pwedeng tanungin okay uh these are integrated subjects or integrated concepts na pwedeng itanong doon sa ating mga questions in the PNLE. Of course, we have your anatomy and physiology. That's a major subject that we have in our first year.
Nutrition and diet therapy, a very second-year concept. Your pathophysiology, yan. It's just your anatomy and then amalgamated with the abnormality now. So your anatomy and physiology is the normal process. that's occurring in our entire body, entire anatomy, and the processes that it has.
So now, when there is now amalgamation of abnormality, the concept becomes pathophysiology. Another also is your parasitology and microbiology. And of course, your pharmacology and therapeutics.
So it's an all-encompassing concept. Lahat po ito pwedeng itanong. cross cutting in your uh in your test okay so basically these are your uh subjects that will be asking the pnle we have your fundamentals of nursing professional adjustments maternal and child health nursing community chn as a whole uh communicable disease nursing and also your mat i mean mental health and of course your psychiatric nursing okay so now added also which can be integrated in your questions are coming from the concepts of anatomy and physiology, nutrition and diet therapy, pathophysiology, parasitology, and microbiology, pharmacology, and therapeutics.
So we need to organize already our thoughts. Okay, kapag nakaupo na po tayo sa ating examinasyon, and also when you are trying to make your calendar for studying, it must be as organized as this one. Dahil hindi po lumalabas dito.
ang mga tanungan sa ating MordiZap. Okay? So, that's the most important thing that we should be thinking about.
Okay. Of course, nursing process serves as the framework in the nursing care of individuals, families, population groups, and communities in various stages of development in healthcare setting. So, dapat hindi po tayo lalabas sa nursing process because it's the frame that's being used by the nursing profession.
So, ang nakakalimutan ng mga estudyante, whenever they sit down, they immediately think of the answer to the questions. Without them knowing that the right answer, or there are some methods or methodologies which is very important for them to lead into those right answers. So, the focus of nursing care is the promotion of health, prevention of illness.
curative and rehabilitative aspects of care, alleviation of suffering, and when recovery is not possible towards a peaceful death. We need to remember that the PNLE is just actually a safety exam. We need to think that kung saang option pinaka-safe ang pasyente, and that's the correct answer.
So ganun lang po, basically. And we need to remember na always, always, always go back to nursing process. Just like this question or this example.
A patient was found lying on the floor after a gathering of large crowd. You as a nurse should respond by firstly. Whenever you are asked a firstly or whatever question it is, always think on your mind that we should use the nursing process first.
And thinking of the nursing process, it's a basic... knowledge that you know the flow of the nursing process. The first phase or the first stage of our nursing process, of course, we all know that. It's ADPA.
It's assessment. Okay? So, of all these options that we have right here, we need to choose which one gives the assessment.
Okay? So, letter A, giving chest compressions. Letter B, giving rescue breaths. Letter C, assess the pulse. Letter D, call the rescue.
Because this is an emergency. Yes? Okay, and we know even without even rationalizing, just follow the nursing process and you will get the right answer. I know what's on your mind. I know if you're thinking the right thing.
Okay? So basically, your letter A, chest compressions, that's an intervention. Giving rescue breaths, that's also an intervention.
Letter D as well, no? That's an intervention. Okay, you call the rescuer. Okay, that...
because this is an emergency, that's an intervention. Okay? So the most important thing, of course, always follow the nursing process so that we won't get lost.
Okay? So see, here is the best answer. Okay. Now, one of the biggest questions that my students always ask, how many items do we have in the board exam?
Okay. So before we jump off to the actual number of items, let's first understand. kung paano nga ba hinahati-hati ang ating questions.
Okay, so your board exam is a five-test item design. So ang test po na yan ay tinatawag po nasing nursing practice test. So nursing practice 1, nursing practice 2, nursing practice 3, nursing practice 4, nursing practice 5, or tinatawag din siyang NP.
Okay, for your nursing practice 1, Ang mga nakapaloob dyan ng mga tanong is of course about your community health nursing. Okay, dyan tinatanong yung inyong ano nga ba ang herbal medicines, herbal plants that's always memorized by nursing students. Dyan rin tinatanong kung ano ba ang mga programa na meron ng DOH.
What's the goal of community health nursing? Ang COPA. Our communicable disease nursing, our tuberculosis, all of that is okay in Nursing Practice 1. So basically that's it. This is very, Nursing Practice 1 is very Philippine based.
Philippine based question, that's why this is actually the hallmark, why our students in the Philippines should be discouraged to initially read those NCLEX resources. It's because of NP1. Okay, number two, nursing practice two, care of healthy at-risk mother and child.
So basically, it's your maternal and child health nursing concept. It's in NP2, it's in nursing practice two. So that's where it's located, including our newborn assessment, the growth of the child, the milestones.
So that's in nursing practice two. Okay, let's jump off to your nursing practice three. In your NP3 or nursing practice three. It starts with your medical surgical nursing, care of clients with physiologic and psychosocial alterations.
Okay, so you can also ask about mental and psychiatric nursing but basically your nursing practice 3 and 4 these are big medical surgical nursing concepts and mostly it contains our mental and psychiatric questions in your nursing practice 5. we need to remember that so again your med search is the biggest flake of your pnle what i'm trying to say is that you need to strengthen your foundational knowledge on your medical surgical nursing because it's a very big concept okay so you need to be best friend of your blacks and hawks brunner and sudarts ignatavicious books okay so yeah now how many items we have in your um pnle of course Every NP, I told you, NP Nursing Practice Test, we have 100 items. So 100 items for NP1, 100 items for NP2, 100 items for NP3, 100 items for NP4, and of course, also with your NP5, that's 100 items. All in all, you need to answer 500 items na questions. Okay? So this will be done in two days.
The battle here for the takers of the PNLE is the battle of endurance. So you need to endure, you need to maintain your... battery you need to maintain your focus your presence of mind means admin a cacophony so I put the big nothing P and E but you need to maintain okay your focus your stamina you need to practice it that's why from the moment you started preparing for the P and E always always always practice those long item exams okay So who can take the Philippine nurse licensure examination?
Okay, so here are the qualifications. First, you must be a citizen of the Philippines, must be 18 years old and above at the age of, I mean at the time of issuance of a certificate of registration, must be in good health and is of good moral character and a holder of a bachelor's degree in nursing from college or university duly recognized by the proper government agency. all of these things this is a PRC thing so they screen your documents and of course you will not be allowed to take the PNLE if you don't have or you don't possess all of these qualifications so now the question is what are the requirements okay so if this is your first time taking the PNLE you are required to submit the following documentary requirements first NSO or PSE birth certificate and for the married female applicants you need to submit your PSA marriage certificate and also of course your TOR which must denote that remark for board examination purposes only okay it's at the back actually of your TOR and of course you will recognize copies of summary of your RLEs that are included. I know every student nurse we know how many cases required for our RLE cases. And of course, your admission fee of P900.
So basically, that's it. And we need only to think and to be reminded of the major concepts of your PNLE, which are it is an all-income passing exam. And we need to remember...
Notwithstanding that it is an all-encompassing exam, it asks the basic knowledge, the basic competency of our entry-level nurse. And also, we need to remember that it's a 500-item exam done in two days. And we've just learned about the qualifications.
So, we already know that. I hope and I pray that we've learned something out of our session one. And, of course, see you guys in our next one.
