Account Services Login

Sign in Options

  • Options to retrieve forgotten username or password.
  • Option to remember username for future logins.
  • Option to activate a new account.
  • Available in both English and Dutch.

ULCN Account Types

  • General Information: ULCN accounts are used for accessing applications and IT services at Leiden University.
  • Categories:
    • Employees
    • Students
    • Guests

Login Issues

  • Common reasons for login problems:
    • Account not activated.
    • Password expired.
    • Incorrect username (uMail address is not username).
    • CAPS LOCK on by mistake.
    • System failures or maintenance.
  • Contact ISSC Helpdesk if issues persist.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Used for additional security.
  • Two types:
    • For Office 365 services using Microsoft account.
    • For Single Sign-On (SSO) applications via ULCN.
  • Steps to set up MFA:
    • Registering private email.
    • Setting up an authenticator app (recommended: NetIQ Advanced Authentication App).

Password Management

  • Options to reset forgotten or expired passwords.
  • Requires registered non-university email or setup authenticator app.
  • New password can be requested via Helpdesk if unable to use Account Services.

Employee Accounts

  • Automatic creation upon employment.
  • Account needs activation and proper setup before use.
  • Account remains active for a certain period after employment ends; extension possible by contacting PSSC Service Point.
  • Requires adherence to code of conduct.

Student Accounts

  • Provided upon registration through Studielink or student administration.
  • Username is student number prefixed with 's'.
  • Account setup required before first use.
  • Expires 60 days after completion of studies, transformable into alumnus account.
  • Requires adherence to code of conduct.

Guest Accounts

  • Available for visitors or guests of the university.
  • Requires application through a GMS-contact person.
  • Requires adherence to code of conduct.

Code of Conduct

  • Governs the use of university IT facilities.
  • Agreement to abide by the code when using accounts.
  • Measures taken in cases of misuse.
  • Compliance with building house rules required.
