CNA Patient Interaction and Procedure Overview

Introduction

Procedure Steps

  1. Preparation

    • Close curtains for privacy.
    • Adjust bed to a comfortable height.
    • Lower side rail for accessibility.
  2. Range of Motion Exercises

    • Flexion and Extension
      • Checks for pain before starting.
      • Repeats motion three times.
    • Abduction and Adduction
      • Checks for pain before each motion.
      • Repeats motion three times on the first shoulder.
    • Repeats the ROM exercises on the other shoulder.
  3. Completion

    • Returns bed to its lowest position.
    • Provides Mrs. Smith with call light, phone, tissue, water, and magazines.
    • Encourages Mrs. Smith to reach out if she needs anything else.
