Hello, my name is ania, and you? So hello, everybody welcome to another lesson with me anya and today we're going to talk about how to introduce yourself especially how to say your name in German 'los gehts' ....so to say your name in German you would say 'ich heiße' and then you put your name in here literally this means I am Called so 'heißen' means to be called something so I am called Anya. ich heiße ania, und du?' and you would enter: ich heiße... Mmm, whatever your name is yeah So now how would you ask somebody else how they are called how would you ask somebody of the same age? How they are called for example [you] would say: 'wie heißt du?'this means. What is your name? wie heißt du is the informal version of you in German yeah? So to ask somebody older than you who you don't know [very] well You would ask:'wie heißen Sie?' and [z] Sie the capital letter because Sie is the formal version of you So isn't that easy? It's super easy Isn't it so now I'm going to tell you some alternatives to introduce yourself what you can also say is for example Mein name ist.... and then you insert your name it's equivalent in English [to] my name is whatever or what you can also say is ich bin ania und du? like I am so these are all possibilities to say who you are and to be very honest with you you might not need any of them in the beginning because when you're getting to know people in Germany usually for example we go to a party or Dinner or whatever and what you just like to do is we shake the other person's hand, and we just say our name so it will be like 'Ania,John' and Dennis, Christine or whatever you know.so,we would just go around and shake each other's hands and we don't even say it ich heiße or ich bin or whatever we just say the name, so it's very easy for you and some alternatives for questions What people might also ask for example? wer sind Sie? is like who are you formally or wer bist du? this is who are you? informally, so wer sind sie or wer bist du. in German, I know that in English It's all kind of rude if you have somebody who are you but in in in German? It's not it depends on how you say it if you say like well, wer bist du - then of course it's like it's not very nice, but if you say like hey, wer bist du - then it's nice, you know so no problem and Yeah, that's it. Uh what you can also ask for question is for example wie ist ihr name? name.Wie ist ihr name? this is what is your name maybe you notice that we use wie instead of was so wie means how in German and was means what but we don't was ist ihr name you can also say it but Actually it sounds a little bit rude to be honest, so try to say wie ist ihr name. How is your name? It's just that nobody can explain why we do that, but we do it all right over hausaufgabe that means homework today the homework will be to write your name in the comments in German try to introduce Yourself in German and you can use any of the ways which we just learnt, [haha]
