Definition
Process:
Falling of water vapor on the earth in different forms (water drops, snow, etc.).
Forms:
Rainfall (рдЬрд▓ рд╡реГрд╖реНрдЯрд┐)
: Water drops.
Snowfall:
Snow.
Hail:
Small ice pellets.
Types of Rainfall
1. Convectional Rainfall (рд╡рд░реНрд╖рд╛)
Process:
Warm air rises, cools, and condenses to form clouds, leading to rainfall.
Common Area:
Equatorial regions (daily occurrence around 4 PM, known as 4 o'clock rain).
Example:
Amazon basin, Congo basin, Indonesia, Malaysia.
2. Orographic Rainfall (рдкрд░реНрд╡рддреАрдп рд╡рд░реНрд╖рд╛)
Process:
Warm moist air rises over mountains, cools, and causes rainfall on windward side, leaving the leeward side dry (rain shadow area).
Example:
Mumbai (windward side) vs Pune (leeward side).
3. Frontal Rainfall
Process:
Warm air mass meets a cold air mass, warm air rises above cold air, causing condensation and rainfall (often leads to heavy rain).
Areas:
Typically seen in regions with varied topography.
