in the field of literature in Nepal even he worked for 40 years as being a head of the department in Q so today we are going to deal with the soft storm poem which is a free words means no rhyming scheme has been used so it shows the tumult or absurdities that exist in a nap society that means the Anarchy disorder poverty gender discrimination so all the problems that napes people are passing through has been jotted down in then poem uh form so it's a journey covered by ABI subedi during the nighttime period uh along the Narrow Lane of the tumil so let us begin I became soft I became soft after I heard the tumor and crashed on the AY Stillness I inherited the soft when the sky grew like a carcuses over stones and I became 5 in taller that very night when Moon sked down your was speaking in the language of poster and politics so here he has reflected the scenario which seems to be very chaos disorder as he says I became soft outward the environment is Disturbed there's a commotion there's an mystery as the word has been used tool an Ary that indicates or reflects the Cure situation disorder situation nothing was in order there's an hustle and bustle people are running to earn money they're pulling each other's legs so your inhumanity kind of Nature has been reflected but on the other hand he says I inherited the soft but out outward there's a destruction there's a chaos environment but inwardly I tried to remain silent I tolerated looking outside environment so he was in uneasy uncomfortable situation when the sky grew like a carcuses but on the other hand nature is trying to be silent and is still tolerating the human injust Behavior so a very pathetic scenario how human being as well as nature itself is in Conflict so human beings are going against the nature but still nature is trying to renew rejuvenate everything as the flowers are blooming so the part can be taken in a positive sense also as well as in a negative actually the real place of flower is on the soil But Here With The Changes negative changes what is happening in the society even nature is also changing Because Of Human Action so flowers are blooming over the stone scorus means Irish purple color flower are blooming over the and it grew 5 in taller so how even the nature is also struggling along with the human beings so that very night when the moon skidded down your was speaking in the language in the night time when the light falls upon the posters speaking in the language of poster and politics so as there is a saying uh picture speaks louder than words so through the poster regarding the politics that also shows how politicians through their false language giving a false dream to the people and common people are unable to relish it or enjoy that rights in a real sense so giving a false dream so it shows a cultural violation political violation so human beings are totally in a disorder state so as he has shown the political pictures or the posters are also giving a false dream to the people so there's a violation of cultural values as it says rituals and reasons I became soft as a softness Rose like a gale gaale means a very strong wind is blowing inside my mind I wanted to bring a change a revolutionary change but I was in an helpless State looking at the injust inequality uh poverty Stricker situation still I remain silent so yeah as a softness Rose like a gale tearing my roof tearing my roof means I my mind was not so this roof has got a symbolic meaning even the feelings that was juggling in my mind I was totally Disturbed I was unable to think I was in an hopeless helpless and helpless situation I used to feel what unlucky when I can't bring any changes in the society knowingly also I have to behave that I don't know anything so that very night when the moons sang of the lamp post and the gutters in the seamless Society so seamless yeah Lawless Society all the desires what Society where there's a law and order people are enjoying rights but in reality constitutional wise political wise law has been made but nothing has been implemented in real form so it reflects the Mal practice that exist in nap society as the abis subedi while traveling during the nighttime period he passes through the different incident which he has described in the form of poem so as in the second stanza he says I became soft when homeless children in Tamil cried with Hunger under the bad bearing trees of keral so here in this T he has shown the dichotomy between the street scenario the poor children scenario who are starving and begging for onetime meal so chose the home homelessness children condition and on the other hand the people who are living in the caser m so as he says I became soft soft mean I controlled my emotion I although I was it was heart rening or it was really painful situation to see how children are deprived from the basic rights so here he says I became soft when I returned from the M where ceremony dance with a mad steps on the unbedded garden of History growing around a port Ed uh rocks so here he has shown the two contrast scenario one side there's a yelling crying child for one time meal and on the other hand people are dancing in a mad steps and mad steps again symbolize a metaphor mean nothing is in order once you have a position power people start thinking that they can do anything and they are intimidating the poor one they never try to show the empathy towards the needy ones so your writer has throughout the stanza he tries to show how humility empathy feeling is declining in this mad time and he says on the unwedded garden of History growing around the uh so how cultural values moral values are degrading day by day so why there's an discrimination why there's a inequality in our society again abis subedi has started the poem by saying I became soft so how he's trying to control his feelings he's feeling very sad helpless hopeless why I can't do anything for the needy people why there's an injustice why there's a corruption why there are poverty around uh us so he says I became soft when I alone turned to you leaving a deep DSE of words of these white sheets so I I am unable to do anything what I can do I have just written few lines on the white sheet to pour out my feeling and to bring an awareness so what uh I'm trying to do through this poem I just wanted to create a ripple effect to bring awareness among the people so through my poem I just try to awaken the people now time we have to do something how can we ignore so here he tries to ridic ridicule on the ignorant behavior of human beings I became soft when I sof for long child for long child means a sad depressed child carrying a transistor around his neck run around wailing to find his mother in the corridors of the violent history so here it shows again the scenario of a child depressed child who is eagerly waiting for a mother and mother has gone to work and even here it shows a gender discrimination a small child needs love care tender but is deprived from all these feelings and he is left with the transistor hung around his neck to accompany him and his mother has gone to work and even it shows as it is a tumil area so how women are forced many people involved in an illegitimate relationship and women get uh pregnant and all the responsibility comes to a woman and how woman is forced to work for the child and in this way neither the mother is able to give a time to a child nor the child is getting a proper care from the parent side the same refrain line I became soft storm when I saw a man beaten mercilessly uh for no reason before his family for nobody for no reason in no sensible time so here again he portrays how an innocent man without any reason beaten in a merciless manner in a very cruel manner so it shows that how upper class tries to dominate the lower class how they are intimidated dominated tortured without any reason if they raise a voice against the injust their voice is suppressed oppressed and intimidated by the people who are holding a powerful position so a big question mark that comes in abed's mind and he's observing all these things but helpless to do anything as he says nobody for no reason in no sensible time so this time has been not sensible for everyone yet there's inequality although we all are born in the same manner we all all have got a constitutional right but people are discriminated in the real scenario so again in the fifth stanza ABI subedi started the poem with the same refrain to show the pain I became soft when I saw a Blood Stained shirt speaking in the earth's ears with a bruised human lips in the far corner under the moon of history and dreams playing hide and seek in an open Museum of human times so in this whole stanza again poet reflects the inhumanity that exist in our society how people are beaten in an ruthless Manner and you can see blood strain shirt and the wounded person is actually crying and shouting for a help help but no one is showing a kindness so where that kindness generosity has gone so indirectly by writing in poem form uh abis subedi tries to raise a question why there's no Humanity we say we all are human being we all are God's children so why we are unable to help each other and why we are not listening we are just playing in hide and seek game so yeah poet says history and a dreams dreams means we are uh we all have put on a mask a false mask of inhumanity towards each other which is actually uh criticized in in an indirect way in this poem he says uh playing a hide and seek in an open Museum of human times so the whole world we all are living in a different homes but we are just playing in hide and seek we all are selfish once our need and requirement are fulfilled we least bother about others people's problem so again he feels sad the way he was walking during the night time in the Tamil Street he has analyzed and he feels why there's so many disparity differences why people are showing being a human being there is an indifferent attitude towards the situation and towards the people the sixth stanza again he says I was struggling to be soft and calm as he says I became soft since you gave words but did not listen to them gave his storms but did not wait to see its Leela over the silent Stones so in these lines poet tries to reinforce that words uh has been given to us that means the rights has been given by the Constitution but in reality human beings or the public or the people they were unable to cash their rights they were deprived from their rights so their rights turns out to be bankrupt as he says I became soft since you gave words gave words means words to raise their voice but their voice has been suppressed oppressed so they like politicians they have shown a different dreams but their dreams were unfulfilled so but did not listen to them gave his stor instead of listening to their problems they have given a blow uh storms or storms indicates the problems so yeah but did not wait to see its Leela over the silent Stone silent Stone again represented the their ignorant nature why all these leaders or the politicians or the Constitution is playing a double role with the common people's feelings and emotions which has been shown in this poem form so in the stanza poet says carcuses have grown over the stone and then there's a hyphen silence he was just thinking contemplating I saw last moonlit night storms have loitered in the narrow Lanes so storms means your anger violation destruction is moving around in a different direction loitering means moving around in a different direction in the narrow Lanes where I to have walked even I was walking looking at all these and even I was was ignorant where I to have uh walked alone pensively in the rain tears and little cuckles of the sun laughter that have risen and melted like a rainbow soft is my storm that rages and rages over the silent pages and Sil Stone so in these lines actually here he tries to ridicule as well as a positive aspect why human beings are unable to understand the reality of the nature has changed like for example flowers are blooming over the stone mean that there's a transformation there's a change so why can't we bring a change in this uh uh chaos or a chaotic situation why can't we take a step to bring positive changes instead of increasing the violation corruption poverty now we have to find out the ways to eradicate or abolish such kind of differences from the society so here in this stanza he is pleading or requesting the people indirectly through a poem form that we have to awaken ourself so knowingly also why we are acting as an ignorant so we know what to do we know how to do but still why we remain silent why we are unable to the storm is going inside but why we are unable to Rebel it in a peaceful manner so he's not saying that give a blow to the other people but learn from the nature also if nature can transform why can't we human being trans transform for a positive aspect why can't we change the turmoil situation into a peaceful scenario so in the seventh stanza actually abised is showing his dissatisfaction with which he is living as he says silent for laer carrying War memories silent dilapidation of God's award where dances and songs are buried under the helpless debris Divine debris in a human Courtyard so why people have to carry the sad depressed feeling in their heart so he's really angry knowingly also why people are ignorant and why they are unable to act in an rational way why can't they act in an ethical way being part of this uh Earth or being part of this uh human Courtyard why there's a disparity or differences why they can't live in in harmonious manner so through this stanza he portrays his raise and anger and it's quite difficult to control so the storm is blowing inside his mind that's the reason he has written this poem to awaken everyone and to think to contemplate he's not asking to take a violent action but he's saying make yourself aware and start taking good action towards each other so in the second last stanza speaker says soft is what you saw I honor your moon eyes moon eyes means wide eyes but the Mad time spools mad time spools means the time that has created a chaos in this uh environment politically socially economically as even environmental wise also there's a degradation there's a global warming neither the social life is a stable nor the natural life so everything gets trapped or in this is Pool Time Mad Time Mad time even indicates the cruel time the corruption the negativity that exist in the society winding all that we see and live with so looking at also we get trapped in this and un unable to come out from this so This mad time is like a quick send we are getting trapped in this mad time and we are unable to come out knowingly also we all are forced to behave in an in ignorant manner we know what to do but we are unable to bring changes transform transformation is hard for people so winding all that we see and live with stones growing in a flower so all the unusual changes are taking place and we are forced to embrace it Moon humming The Melodies history rushing under the lampost history rushing under the lamp poost even indicates how cultural values are diminishing cultural social political as well as human humanitarian values are also declining and over the deforested land not only human being life is at rest nor the nature is at rest so the whole scenario is in an tumult means in an chaos in an commotion so he says bird singing of a bizarre Journey neither the birds are singing a melodious song now birds are singing a bizarre Journey because once the trees are cut even the bird situation is also cures because uh where to go they are also seeking for a shelter so not only the human beings even the nature creatures are also in a turmoil situation over the warning Earth warming Earth means a global warming is also taking so as SE is M as what we can say mountains are melting uh sea water level is uh uh increasing or decreasing so all climatic changes negative changes are occurring Ro and blooming in a winter instead of spring it is blooming in a winter Mother Earth is telling of the tumult so even the our motherly nature is crying till when this will continue knew who is going to listen so this our softness has been mistaken and misunderstood misinterpreted but we are encouraging the corruption in our society in the songs of the sad birds all the Unison have created this soft Gale soft Gale means by combining nature as well as the human beings they have joined showing the softness actually they have polluted they have spread the negative ity in the society from which people are unable to come out so finally poet has shown his pain suffering dissatisfaction towards this mad time as he says but in these hard times I want to melt like a rainbow now I can't endure I want we have to take a step to bring positive changes till when this Injustice Corr coruption or tumult time will continue so it's a time to create a ripple effect so I want to melt like a rainbow so as there's a changes in a nature even I want a transformation so I want to melt like a rainbow my soft storm in your musical sky so my feeling is just a part of a big sky but my soft storm dances in ripples of uneasy lake so uneasy Lake symbolizes this Earth itself so my single single effort of writing this poem and in order to bring an awareness is just to create a ripple effect ripple effect means so that people will understand they will think about it and slowly we can bring a change we can transform our society so as they saying one idea can change the world in a similar manner through his feelings emotion that has been jotted down in the poem form he wanted to bring awareness so through his journey what ever he has experienced so through lot of images images of unusual uh thing as he has said flowers are blooming over the stone as well as F laong child is yelling and crying and waiting for mother even the uh innocent person is beaten mercilessly by showing and even the lamp post with the poster uh he has shown that how people are playing a double role so actually he is against this game of hide and seek and he wanted to Tell the readers that it's a time now we have to act as an Rebellion so not in a violent manner that's the reason soft storm so actually with the soft voice he has represented the storm that is going out in the world and it is unbearable to tolerate and to continue so he's asking and pleading the readers to unite so that we can bring changes in our society so finally I think actually ABI subedi is trying to tell us be the change the change you want to see in this world rather getting trapped in the uh Injustice or tumultous time or absurdities we have to breakr and we have to work to um create a place
