foreign we're going to look at how you convert between decimals and percentages the only thing you really need to know for this topic is that the numbers that we use for percentages are always 100 times bigger than the equivalent numbers we use for decimals so to convert from a decimal into a percentage we multiply by 100 and you get from a percentage to a decimal we divide by 100. so to convert 0.45 to a percentage we just multiply it by 100. which you can do in one go to get 45 straight away or if you find it easier you could multiply it by 10 twice so once to get 4.5 and then again to get 45 percent if we try the opposite and convert 28 to a decimal we just divide 28 by 100. which again we can do in one step to get 0.28 straight away or we can do in two steps and divide it by 10 twice once to get 2.8 and then again to get 0.28 let's try a couple more for this first one we need to convert 0.073 into a percentage so because we're going from a decimal into a percentage we're gonna have to multiply our 0.073 by 100. which gives us 7.3 percent then to convert 142 percent into a decimal we're going to take the 142 and divide it by 100. so that we get 1.42 and it makes sense that these numbers bigger than one because the percentage that we were converting is bigger than 100 percent anyway that's everything for this video so hope that all made sense and we'll see you again soon
