Micro ATX PC Building Guide

Introduction

Parts Used in the Build

  • Motherboard: TUF Gaming B550M Plus (micro ATX)
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
  • RAM: OLOy 3600MHz, 32GB (2x16GB)
  • Power Supply (PSU): 750W EVGA G5
  • GPU: AMD Radeon Sapphire 6700 XT
  • Storage: SN550 500GB and 1TB M.2 drives
  • Cooling: Phanteks Glacier One 240MP AIO
  • Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mATX

Tools Needed

  • Large, clean workspace (avoid carpet)
  • Standard screwdriver
  • Optional specialty tools: Wow sticks, iFixit kits
  • Zip ties or Velcro ties for cable management
  • Knife for cutting
  • Thermal paste and spreader
  • Isopropyl alcohol and paper towels

Preparing the Motherboard

  • Essential components: motherboard, IO shield, M.2 screws, motherboard manual
  • Overview of key connections: EPS CPU power, RGB headers, fan headers, RAM slots, 24-pin ATX, SATA connections, front panel connections, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HD audio

Installing Components

CPU Installation

  • Align CPU with the socket and secure it

RAM Installation

  • Install DIMMs in dual channel (A2 and B2 for this build)

M.2 Drives Installation

  • Remove heat shields, install M.2 drives

AIO Cooler Bracket Installation

  • Remove existing brackets, install AIO-specific brackets

Case Preparation and Motherboard Installation

  • Remove side panels, dust filters, and accessories box
  • Install IO shield and motherboard into case

Cable Management

  • Use cable extensions for aesthetics
  • Pre-install EPS CPU power cable if necessary

Installing the AIO Cooler

  • Attach fans to radiator
  • Secure AIO in top mount
  • Connect fans and cables
  • Install pump on CPU

Connecting Front Panel and Other Cables

  • Connect front panel, USB, audio, and RGB

GPU Installation

  • Remove necessary case slots
  • Install GPU and secure it

Finalizing Cable Management

  • Ensure all cables are tidy and functional

Power Supply Installation

  • Choose correct cables for PSU
  • Install PSU and connect components

  • Reattach all panels and test the system
