[Music] illbar Allahbar allahbarb [Music] allahbar allahbar [Music] allahbarb [Music] [Music] everyone how are you all doing today you're doing well alhamdulillah good excellent alhamdulillah alhamdulillah so Allah has blessed us with another day alhamdulillah to get closer to him to inshallah make our chances of entering Jenna um even brighter alhamdulillah alhamdulillah i'm doing well and how are all of your loved ones doing alhamdulillah grateful for the opportunity you connected to the Quran good alhamdulillah great excellent may Allah keep us and our loved ones and the um around the world under his protection okay so alhamdulillah we are on lesson 13 today mashallah so uh from alhamdulillah zero to 13 that's pretty good right alhamdulillah and how do you all feel about what you have learned so far what you have memorized of the word to word translation so much alhamdulillah knowledge yes alhamdulillah it's up to Allahh and Allahh knows the wisdom behind it may Allah bring everyone relief alhamdulillah humble peaceful alhamdulillah okay so there was some homework that was assigned before break and we forgot to discuss it yesterday did anyone give sodaka and find that it was returned to them in some form or way yes okay subhan Allah alhamdulillah alhamdulillah so what has that motivated you to do okay you got more money back from your parents subhan Allah so much more returned alhamdulillah to give more right so what's our intention our intention is what to please Allah right but we see that the promise of Allahh is true it is h it is the truth right so it just gives us gives our hearts um more you can say conviction right that yes what Allahh says is true right so never hold back anytime subhan Allah you have an opportunity give what you can and that is enough for Allahh as long as the intention is good on Eid day I emptied all bills from my wallet for Eid um an hour later my kids received Eid bills that went back into my wallet subhan Allah amazing subhan Allah um give even more subhan Allah for the sake of Allah subhulah alhamdulillah okay so I'm really really happy that you all were able to uh you know implement and that you saw subhan Allah that Allahh's promise is true so imagine right this is just something that we can kind of see but what we can't see is the bank of Allah subhanaa tala the bank that we have deposited the money into right so we can't even imagine how that money is growing over there right and then we will find that on the day of judgment right we can cash into that bank on the day of judgment right so keep depositing in that bank and may Allahh accept it from us exactly Exactly it gives us more uh strength to our minds definitely um can we give saddaka to she was poor gave to Yes we can give sodaka can be given to anyone okay there's no restrictions on it um when it comes to zaka then there are categories that we need to keep in mind but when it comes to saddaka anyone is um eligible for sodaka yes any human um even subhan Allah any creation of Allah is allegible for so may Allah um accept it from us yes another homework was writing down the blessings yes um Allah's currency yeah subhan Allah so we're converting from our currency to Allah's currency excellent yes so how did um the other homework go yes writing down five blessings every single day and to not repeat the blessing that you have written yes Allah's generosity is unmatched subhan Allah um someone was in need and they asked for help i helped them by Allah's help and I shared with them how increases money and they should do too to increase whatever they have alhamdulillah you know another thing does is it removes difficulties right so um saddaka is just amazing it removes difficulties you break the jaws of 70 you increase your wealth in this duny and subhan Allah the bank of Allah so gratitude increased even stop feeling disappointed so easily alhamdulillah so that means that you've implemented the homework properly waking up daily every day above ground is a blessing yes absolutely we feel blessed to think of all the blessings he has given alhamdulillah alhamdulillah so if we you know reflect on the blessings then we won't have a negative attitude right the problem is that subhan allah shaitan doesn't let us see the blessings so we have to make a little bit more effort until it becomes something normal for us and once it becomes a habit to view the positive then inshallah shaitan can't you know make us ungrateful right understanding kids and a husband Uh absolutely that is a blessing absolutely subhan Allah there are so many misunderstandings between people all right so if you haven't done this homework do it now um where you write down five things every single day that you are grateful for you can do it at night before you go to sleep you can do it in the morning when you wake up whatever works for you and make sure that you do not write the same five things down so if you've written for example your cell phone you can't write it again right so you have to find something else and subhan Allah it will make us appreciate even the tiniest things because sometimes we don't pay attention to them right so we are you know we think of big things but subhan Allah unless we are focusing on you know everything around us we won't be able to appreciate right so those of you who did the homework alhamdulillah um it's very I'm very happy to hear about that and may Allahh make us among those write us among those who most grateful to him um Shaitan asks me again and again to switch listener but I'm not listening to him fighting with him um you know subhan Allah that's a very very good point because after um shaitan makes someone a listener then he will make them quit the course too right so uh yes stop him right there um and don't let um him win may Allah help us all um with this struggle the home uh homework of listing five things made me reflect on how we are so blessed and not even realize it yes because subhan Allah we become blind right to our blessings and shaitan would love us to stay that way so we can be those who are ungrateful right so alhamdulillah and so may Allah en able us to you know benefit from every single aspect of our course okay so let's inshallah come to our hadith okay so we are studying the book Begin okay we completed hadith number 10 so it is time for hadith number 11 okay so today's hadith is ali reported the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said a believer never gets discontented with good until he finally reaches jenna so a believer is never satisfied basically with doing good okay so a believer if we're a believer that means we should be drawn to doing good right so that means as a true believer I'm constantly seeking out ways to do good right whether it's in my iada with Allah subhana ta or my connection with people or I'm trying to increase in knowledge or I'm giving sodaka anything that I'm doing right my goal is to reach Jenna right so I don't get tired i don't get bored of doing good deeds and how can we make sure that we see the benefit of doing good deeds it is to gain knowledge right unless we know the benefit we're not going to be able to subhan Allah want to do more right so knowledge and actions go together so number one point never stop educating ourselves right never stop educating ourselves because knowledge is the tree and then the actions are the fruits right so when we Yeah so um yeah so a believer never feels like they've done enough right they're always striving to do more and then when a believer starts to do a good deed they don't stop they don't give it up right because their ultimate goal is Jenna and that is where their eyes are set right so their eyes are set on the ultimate reward which is Jenna and so how are we going to inshallah implement this how are we going to be among those whose ultimate goal is Jenna so number one like we said keep increasing in knowledge right keep increasing in knowledge so that we are um inshallah among those who continuously motivate ourselves to do good okay and so um when we're on this path right Allah subhana ta has brought us on this path right and so our job is to stick to it right so how can we do this so firstly I'm sure everyone has heard the hadith the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam said the most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently even if they are few right so what can we do firstly pick some deeds start some habits and then don't let them go right don't let them go so I'm sure it happens to everyone right we start to do some good deeds and then there's some change in our routine like for example we go on vacation or we have guests right or um there's break for some reason you know whatever something happens and those good deeds are the first to go right they're the first to go subhan Allah and but as a believer remembering that the most beloved deeds to Allahh are those that are done consistently we need to keep a check on those deeds as well and then subhan Allah if we are giving sodaka for example right then make sure that we don't forget right we don't forget um we can automate it or we can make it an activity with the kids for example right that I'm going to um you know make sure that I give sodaka every single day we can and you know subhan Allah when it comes to sodaka it's not always money right A smile is sodaka and we all know that right that the greatest is smiling um and then subhan allah you know anytime we help someone that's also saddaka right so make it a point to right make some sodaka every single day um you can smile at someone subhan allah it can be someone at the register it can be a neighbor it can and highly highly recommend that it is your um family members right yes you can give water to someone subhan allah um also So some good deeds that are small continuous is to make sure that we say bismillah before we start anything that's the easiest way to make shaitan tired is to say bismillah before every deed right so imagine subhan allah you're opening the refrigerator you say bismillah you're opening the car door you say bismillah you're closing the car door you say bismillah you're starting the car you say bismillah so this is the easiest way to bring baraka in our actions at the same time to tire shaitan out right to make him weak right so if we're not in this habit then let's pick up this habit of saying bismillah for everything as much as we can um and we might have to put reminders to remind ourselves but inshallah um it'll become a habit right and then sometimes things happen right like we're talking about vacations we're talking about um you know guests coming over and sometimes there are setbacks right so what should we do then just reset our intentions that ya I'm doing this for you and I'm going to start doing it again because we're human right we're human and subhan Allah sometimes uh you know we fall behind right but our goal is Jenna right so that means we don't stay back we don't say oh yeah I used to have that habit it's I don't do it anymore oh well no it's not like that it's like no I need to redo this right I need to restart this so it's about persistence right it doesn't matter what that deed may be But do it with the intention to please Allah subh tala and be consistent in it so what are some ways we can inshallah implement this think about something that you like to do right what are some deeds that you enjoy doing now make the intention that this deed is for Allah subhana tala and then see how you can use this deed for Allahhana tala yeah it could be anything maybe you like to bake right so now how can I use this skill for the sake of Allah subhanaa tala any ideas what are some other hobbies that people have subhan Allah some people like to garden some people like to go on long drives so whatever your hobbies may be yes doar while doing your hobby make the intention to make it for Allah like so for example like someone likes to bake right so now their intention is to please Allahh so now when they're going to be baking they're going to make the intention I'm baking this for my family to please Allah subhanaa tala right so then now the entire time they're baking they're actually being rewarded because their intention is for Allah subhana tala and now their family is going to be happy as well right because who doesn't like baked goods right so do whatever deed you do make the intention to please Allah subhanaa tala and then what will happen is you'll get rewarded and at the same time your whoever you're doing uh whoever is going to benefit from it is going to be happy as Right so maybe you're baking and it didn't turn out the best right maybe one family member wasn't too happy with it but you know what your intention was for Allahh so your reward is already secured right and then maybe you've learned a tip or two and you're going to improve next time as well right so when you do something for the sake of Allahh there's no loss it's already secure the reward is already secure with Allahh right so it's not about the outcome for Allah subhana t right for Allahh it's about the effort the intention and the effort right so always remember that intention and effort come first then outcome right then outcome after that can we write the 99 names of Allah uh be a good deed absolutely why not write the 99 names of Allah maybe learn about what they mean inshallah we will be starting that very soon in this class as well yes do your classwork your homework while traveling right don't don't let travel become a reason why you why you leave your connection with the Quran right always be connected to the Quran you know the same way subhan Allah when you're home there's baraka there will be baraka as well when you're traveling um and whenever my kids give me a hard time I try to deal with them patiently for Allah subhanaa tala excellent uh subhan Allah because kindness is something that is um highly highly emphasized in our dean right and so when we do it for the sake of Allahh then it's a win-win um situation in constant struggle absolutely it is but you know um the parents who shout at their children a lot they actually use um a lot of energy they use tons and tons of energy compared to being calm and quiet and so what happens is the parents who are always shouting at their children subhan allah They give themselves headaches um they tire themselves out their throats hurt um the kids are you know tired of hearing these sounds and it impacts them they become people who shout as well because children will mimic their role models right and parents are the role models so if we just decide that you know what I'm going to take a deep breath and I'm going to calm down then what's going to happen is that child in front of you is also going to calm down right so that means you have to truly calm yourself down because you know um what are they called like vibes right you can feel it right even if someone's pretending to be um kind but you can feel it when they're not actually um calm right so calm yourself down and um it's not going to be overnight Right especially if your child is used to you um having you know shouting matches with them right but after a few weeks right give yourself and your child a few weeks right you'll see that subhan Allah you will calm down and your child will also calm down right so so do this for the sake of Allah subhanaa tala because you know it feels like our children are under our control but they're actually subhan Allah it's not a free ticket to do whatever we want we will be held accountable for what we say what we do with our children as well right so keeping that in mind we need to calm ourselves down and uh subhan Allah we'll see that inshallah we can bring peace a peaceful household if give it um some time right um inshallah make that your right that I'm going to calm down um turn your hab into like cooking to give to people writers can write about absolutely right so you can cook um and you can feed the people you know there's a hadith that the best deed is to say salam and the next best deed is to feed the people and So subhan Allah a lot of times when we think feed the people we think of people outside of our homes but there are hungry people at home if the parents don't cook for the children subhan Allah who is going to feed them so you can say salam the best deed to the people at home and you can subhan Allah feed the people at home whether you're buying the groceries or you're actually cooking the food subhan Allah the two best deeds in our dean right so never subhan Allah look down on just cooking and cleaning being kind to family because subhan Allah this is where the actual test is yes whatever we do start with a dua ask Allahh to give baraka in it absolutely um I can't stand to shout i have no energy alhamdulillah alhamdulillah new project for yourself for the sake of Allahh yes for his sake only right so inshallah so consistently in you know pick a good deed and make it a conscious habit to work on it for at least two weeks okay alhamdulillah you buy the food perfect alhamdulillah yeah someone has to go out and earn and subhan Allah purchase all of this is work right because without that how would it how would the food get to the home so alhamdulillah so make an intention right pick any good deed that you want to implement you have to implement it for two weeks inshallah right so think of whatever it may be um notice we didn't talk about huge things right we didn't talk about building a mazjid or you know starting a school we're talking about small consistent things right so something pick some small good deed you can do every single day and make it an intention to do it for at least two weeks and by then the hope is that it becomes a habit and you don't have to think about it you do it uh you know out of you just do it out of habit inshallah but keep your intention that it is for the sake of Allah subhanaa tala right and then if you want to do this deed with your children you can make a jenna tracker right where you can put stars um for good deeds that are done um inshallah and then give them some kind of a motivation kids can't wait 2 weeks give them something at the end of 3 days 5 days depending on how old your children are so that um Inshallah you know this becomes a family habit right so take your family along with you on this journey inshallah and so that we can enter Jenna with our families inshallah so okay so don't forget to inshallah come up with any good deed that you can do right maybe someone is behind in saying salam to their family so that's a good deed right um my son only wakes up for fudger when I shout at him yes um so in order to change that we have to motivate you know ourselves number one of why we are praying fudger on time right and then motivate um the child as well give them the same motivation get them to understand about Jenna and how pleasing Allahh gets us to Jenna and then create an environment where it's easy to wake up right where everyone goes to bed early right um we don't do tiring tasks at night um that are going to keep people up right so create an environment that makes it easier to wake up for fudger right um a easy way um is to for example uh especially parents who want their kids to go for fudger to the masjid right they make it a point like if they're like every Saturday let's say they take their child to the masjid then they make sure that they have like a breakfast outside right so connect some kind of activity um that's fun that's the kids will look forward to so that it makes it easier and you only have to do this for some time after you know it becomes a habit then you don't have to continue it for very long right but motivate them right tell them the benefits of waking up for fudger why do they want to do that why should they do that right and then make sure that they sleep early so that they can inshallah um wake up and then if you know fudger is pretty early in a lot of places right now so tell them that you know what just pray u make wudoo pray and go back to sleep right um so you know give them some make it easy for them right don't make it uh feel difficult right um study this translation of salah ponder upon the meanings and teach him and also the virtue of fudger I have to yell for uh for cleaning praying for them yeah so motivation stop stop yelling make it some kind of a reward system okay make it a reward system every kid wants something right and sometimes the thing is you know you don't want to buy it for them because they have enough but they really really want it so you know what make them earn it make them earn it um through good deeds um inshallah yeah stop yelling um it's it's takes too much energy it takes too much time and subhan Allah we actually tire ourselves out and we actually strengthen Shaitan with our yelling all right because subhan Allah most people uh most parents will yell when it comes to things of dean um unfortunately and then that turns the kids away from dean which is shaitan's goal right um how to deal with anger honestly if we study the Quran we will calm down um and then if that if we need some additional help then you know some kind of therapy right for sure some kind of therapy is um going to be of benefit inshallah okay so some things we can do on our own and some things we need help and so then for those things we will inshallah find help okay so it's not none of these things are you know can be done overnight it takes practice but if we have the intention then inshallah Allahh will help us when we do something for his sake right and remind ourselves that we want to get to Jenna right can you imagine Jenna with a pe bunch of people shouting at each other it's not possible right that's that's not Jenna right So we're the same people right we're not going to miraculously turn into um angels and then enter Jenna right we are who we are so that means we need to work on our habits so that we become worthy of Jenna right um shouting is an impulse don't know how to stop i sometimes think my husband is yelling and maybe next second I will be shouting yeah so it doesn't matter what the other person is doing right we need to tell ourselves that even if the other person is yelling that's their choice right my choice is to stay calm right so again you might need to do some online research ask chat GPT um get a therapist talk to um you know some people but if we have a bad habit you know what we need to get rid of it because we want to enter Jenna and Jenna is not a place of bad habits it is not a place for people with bad habits right so we need to inshallah do our best to improve ourselves right um inshallah and it's possible right it is possible everyone has bad habits some people's bad habits are open everyone can see them other people's bad habits are hidden right so it doesn't matter everyone has a struggle right everyone has a struggle for example some people struggle with making woodoo for other people woodoo is not a big deal but praying salah is a issue for them right um for some people praying making woodoo no problem no issue there at all but they love their money and they can't give saddaka okay for them that becomes their test for other people subhan Allah none of these things are an issue but when it comes to you know wearing uh modest clothing that's an issue right wearing hijab that's an issue so every single person has a struggle never think you're unique in having a struggle right you're every single person has a struggle and when we overcome that struggle when we do our best to overcome those struggles that's what gets us into Jenna right so when we're working on our habits there's a reason for it the intention is for Allah subhana tala to get into Jenna right inshallah okay so um yeah don't forget to do the homework any small good deed that you're going to inshallah keep up consistently for the next 2 weeks and if you forget or something it's okay just re uh just you know don't count that day and then start counting again so let's say you're doing it for 3 days you forget day four and five oh no you remember again now it's okay day six is your day four okay so we don't give up we don't go backwards we don't punish ourselves we just remake our intention and we continue inshallah okay alhamdulillah so now um let's come to our recitation inshallah okay so how are your recitation uh checklists coming along are you all marking them yes okay perfect alhamdulillah alhamdulillah so those checklists will inshallah keep you on track um it just helps you you know remember what you've completed what you haven't completed because sometimes you know we're very very busy and you it's there's a lot going on and then we can't remember if we've done something right so best thing when you do it mark it off that way you know you're done and you don't need to worry about it anymore alhamdulillah um like when we first cook versus when we keep doing regardless we learn it well alhamdulillah yes very true um so we improve right same with our deeds if we work on ourselves and not well um at it yet soon we will be in absolutely yes um yeah we haven't completed hopefully we complete it today um if we complete it today then inshallah u there will be announcement if we don't complete it today then um we'll announce it when it's completed okay so inshallah don't um don't stress about quizzes relax inshallah we'll give you plenty of time to complete it don't worry okay so let's inshallah um pass the mic to our dear uh recitation teacher if you all are ready type one and we'll pass the mic to sister okay perfect alhamdulillah sisters and Asalamu allayikum everyone how are you all doing today sister S for that beautiful session amazing beneficial tips to implement mashallah alhamdulillah alhamdulillah alhamdulillah i'm good thank you for asking alhamdulillah so inshallah may Allah put lot of baraka in your time and give us help us to develop the love of reciting the Quran along with the understanding of it alhamdulillah for asking so inshallah as you see uh today's lesson lot of ays to cover we'll begin So inshallah we'll start with this and are you all ready inshallah alhamdulillah everyone so repeat after me and press one okay by Roim Bism here annim So today's first ayah I74 so we'll spot some um second rule so tell me what is happening here min what rule is here mashallah very good the same right why because noon sak followed by the throat letter ha so you can see a lot of the same role right noon sak followed by ha Okay then um the what is the stopping rule for um Tamar Buddha what will it will become when you stop it yes sakha very good mashallah and uh here the word alma right so when we are stopping we are stretching four counts right what is the reason for stretching four count here hamza very good mashallah but here we have to do one more thing which is number so that uh the listener know that we are um reading so it should be okay a little bit of jerk and raise your voice a little bit okay alhamdulillah and what is happening which rule is here mini so noon second followed by is a throat letter right very good and here then be followed by what is the rule mah very good atlaik everyone very good mashallah so inshallah we'll begin ay 74 so we'll stop at this stop sign we'll stop all the stop signs inshallah ash what fore in a for [Music] in a We'll complete ay now the last part [Music] feeling inon [Music] inshallah we do ayah 74 inshallah okay so what is the rule here noon second followed by yeah yesterday we studied this right very good maham is it a complete margin or incomplete what do you think incomplete very good so thatization you can see so you can put ID yes very good mah okay and what is happening here there are two rules right first is then followed by Very good and other one is noon second followed by very good mashallah so inshallah we'll be stopping here so when we are stopping this this will become sakinha right yes very good because uh that is the stop stopping rule for this month because this is special month okay so inshallah when we are continuing uh this will be two counts okay we there are a lot of condition for this month inshallah when we study we'll uh it will be more clear but for now we are just uh um learning the reasons inshallah okay so inshallah we will um stop at uh um first then we'll start from there and we'll stop here in Sorry [Music] we'll start from now and we'll stop here [Music] now start from summa till the end of the day inshallah [Music] yahoo [Music] ay 75 inshallah our first stop will be when we are stopping what will be the counts here when we are stopping two very good mashallah because the reason we are not um we are not reading Hamsa right but when we are stop when we are continuing uh we because the reason is Hamsa we are going to stretch it for four counts okay now there is something going on here so this I've already put it six count um do you know why it is six count why uh otherwise we usually do four yeah the we are not using any terms now so you you all know what the sha means right shaa means there are two letters right yes sha means there are two letters so it has shha is not the reason okay shha is not the reason so shha means two letters the one is first one is the jitsukun and the other one is the jaharaka here it's dharma right so jitsukun this is the original sukun right because you can see here yuna right 75 74 aya the the uh 74 uh no sorry and 75 yeah this is uh the why we are stretching four here namoon because we are putting a sukun here but this is a temporary sukun right this is not there we are putting the sukun so that we can stop it right but here it is the original sukun so whenever the mad letter here alip is followed by a original sukun we have to stretch it for six count there is no other option okay so this six count and you have to do a number like you have to do a little bit of pressure so that the reciter the listener knows that you are um reading sha okay hope uh this makes sense inshallah so inshallah we'll begin yeah reason is the original sukun very good mashallah we'll start from here and we'll stop here Inshallah we'll start from and end inshallah [Music] peacoon for next aya 77 leon now ayah 78 alhamdulillah i've already marked the arrows amen [Music] for in [Music] number it's called number sister Shala is you have to put a little bit pressure on it okay so that the listener knows that you are doing the sha okay it's called nab nabbr okay so next ayah so next ay inshallah I marked the rules um so we can stop at um when you're stopping at what will be the what will be how much what is the count of stretch here four very good mashallah because we are putting a temporary right yes [Music] we'll start from sum then we'll stop at the stop sign inshallah [Music] [Music] we'll complete the I lul we'll do I 80 now so what is the role here uh conven followed by meme um it's a dear uh when you are doing a shutdown meme it's inization okay oh here very good mah is it a complete yes very good sister right and I think that's it right so inshallah we'll Start bismillah [Music] i do the Oh Eric subhan Allah you're right dear it'sam sorry this is wrong okay this is Eidam i I think that was a mistake botham not Idhar very good mahik for correcting me both are okay complete merging yes yes just a second so please um change this one okay this is a lot okay so inshallah we'll start from the next part moon so inshallah we'll stop stop atshallah we'll stop here also so inshallah we start [Music] Fore foreign foreign moon the last ayah we'll stop at the stop sign inshallah of wy he call everyone for the participation inshallah uh please uh do your homework and mark the checklist again inshallah uh may Allah tala reward each and every one of you for reciting and give you uh the immense reward for e reciting every letter that you practice for the homework assignments and all in general amen um Allahbar [Music] Allah abb allah ab [Music] [Music] Ab Allahb [Music] Allah alhamdulillah alhamdulillah we always enjoy the recitation class so inshallah let's come to our word analysis and taps inshallah so we are going to cover ayat number 74 to 82 okay so this is lesson number 13 um inshallah so our schedule today is similar alhamdulillah we're going to cover the translation and word analysis before break and inshallah after break we'll have the taps of these ayat and inshallah we'll have a recap as well okay so if you all are ready to inshallah take notes and uh you know mark your singular plurals inshallah your root words and all of these things please type one okay perfect alhamdulillah so may Allah accept our being here may Allah accept it from all of us um inshallah including um our dear moderators and uh sisters who are writing on the screen and so inshallah may Allah accept it from all of us so bismillah our intention purify our intentions uh it is for Allahh's sake so that we can inshallah earn his pleasure and through that inshallah enter Jenna so let's begin lesson number 13 so Bakar ayat number 74 to 82 translation and word analysis alhamdulillah today inshallah we'll be doing lesson number 13 and that means that we're starting from verses 74 all the way till verse number 82 and inshallah we are going to go past the first half alhamdulillah it seems like we just started the course and alhamdulillah we have already reached the first half of the first may Allah subhah t give us all the ability to complete the study of the Quran in this course and may Allah subhah give us the ability to study the Quran over and over again in our lives okay let's do the translation and the word analysis verse number 74 then they became hard your hearts after that so they are like the stones or more intense in hardness and indeed men among the stones surely is that which it gushes forth who from it the rivers and indeed among them surely is that which it is split so that it comes out from it the water but and indeed among them surely is that which it falls down from reverent fear of Allah and not Allah Allah is at all unaware about what you all do then do you all eagerly desire and that they believe you all and indeed can it used to a party of them they hear speech of Allah then they distort it after they understood it while they They know and when they meet those who they have believed they say we have believed and when they are alone with each other they say "Do you all informed them of what Allah has disclosed to you all?" Or Allah has decreed against you all so that they argue with you all in regard to it near your Then will not you all understand do not they know that indeed Allah Allah he knows what they hide and what they publicize and among them are ignorant ones not they know the bookah but wishful thoughts or hearsay or recitation three meanings and not whom they are or except they assume to those who they write the book with their hands they say this is from Allah so that they purchase with it something of value little to them for what their hands wrote and to them for what they earn and they said it will never touch us the fire except for days numbered you say have you all taken with Allah then a covenant then Allah will never go back on his covenant or you all say against Allah Allah what not you all know rather whoever he has earned an evil And it has encompassed him his sin then those are companions of the fire whom they in it will be ones who remain eternally and those who they have believed and they have done the righteous deeds those are companions of paradise in it will be ones who remain eternally all right let's go over the word analysis [Music] then and I mentioned this to you earlier that the word sum shows a sequence of events and sometimes it also gives the meaning of a delay in time meaning then after a while or sometimes it also shows the increasing gravity or seriousness of an action so here we see that previously what was mentioned Allah subhah t shows you his signs so that you all understand right but you all do not understand and in spite of seeing all of those signs yet what happened your hearts became hard so we can understand in a number of ways we can understand this as then after this incident which incident the incident that was mentioned right before which is the incident of the cow what happened your hearts became hard or s yet despite all of this meaning despite witnessing all of these signs what happened your hearts became hard now the word is from the root letters wow and is from the word and means hardness okay so is a verb and it literally means she became hard and why is it she why is the pronoun she because it's referring to all right and is a plural and remember that every noun in the Arabic language has a gender okay so this is a plural and for many plurals we see that a feminine pronoun is used so she became hard meaning your hearts became hard and it gives the meaning of plural which is why we have they over here so they became hard what became hard your hearts is the plural of the word and means heart and what's the root of this word you can see the root letters right here okay so your hearts became hard and who is you all referring to your this is the bunny is okay after that meaning after that and what is that referring to it's referring to the previous incidents all right especially the incident of the cow so after that your hearts became hard now what is the state of your hearts how hard are they so they Now hia is actually feminine of the word hwa okay ha means he okay ha means he and hia means she okay now again feminine is being used because it's referring to hearts so they meaning your hearts are like the stones means like okay remember their example is like the example so is for to show similarity between two things so your hearts are similar to are like the stones and is the plural of the word okay means stone or rock all right so they are like the stones and root is or more intense au means more okay and shid means intense or severe and here it is more intense in hardness meaning they are even harder okay they are even harder than stones and ashadu is from dal dal okay and you can see the main noun over here means hardness and from this word is the verbat okay so your hearts are even more intense in hardness than stones and indeed among the stones plural of the word surely is that which means surely and ma means that which so among the stones are such stones which are such that okay so this is the first type of stones that are mentioned in this ayah okay such stones which is from the root letters okay and remember the word when Mus Alam was told to strike the rock and what happened 12 springs gushed forth right so there we read the word here we have so the root is the same form is different okay in is just to gush forth but the word that we have here the is when something bursts at a large scale okay and now we're talking about the bursting of rocks of stones and what's happening rivers are gushing forth so it's not that you know a little bit of water is trickling forth no there is a whole lot of water okay that is gushing forth from the place where the stones burst okay so think about how you know a flood comes through and when a flood of water is coming through whatever is in its way literally bursts right so here it gushes forth min from it from what from ma meaning certain stones alhar the rivers meaning there are some stones from which rivers gush forth and is the plural of the word okay okay with a and applies to both rivers and streams so a whole lot of water gushes forth now the second type of stones that are mentioned over here in this ayah and indeed among them meaning among the stones among the are surely is that which it is split this is from the root letters okay and shak is to split and the shak is when something is break you know it cracks and it splits it breaks so there are stones which split and when they split what happens water comes out of it from it the water so a little bit of water comes out so this is slightly different from the first what's happening in the first rivers and streams are coming forth what's happening in the second a little bit of water is coming forth and now the third type of stones and indeed among them surely is that which it falls down is from the root letters okay and is when something comes down from above remember the word same root right so it falls down from reverent fear of Allah meaning these are stones which they don't necessarily break no rivers or even a little bit of water comes forth but at least what happens is that they fall down they move okay so and specifically they fall down out of fear of Allah now is also fear and this has been translated as reverent fear because it's slightly different from okay is a general word for fear and typically it is used for you know that which a person is afraid of in regard to their future meaning they're afraid that something terrible is going to happen in the future they expect something bad to happen okay so they're afraid so you know for example you see a snake okay and you're afraid why are you afraid because you're afraid that it might any moment attack you right so this is but is different is fear with awe okay which is basically fear of someone's greatness meaning there is awe there is reverence there is you know a combination of fear with love okay fear with respect so you know there are some people you're afraid of and you just avoid them you run away from them and then there are people whom yes you are afraid of them but it's not a bad kind of fear it's that you were very conscious you have a great deal of love and respect for them right so this fear this is actually connected with knowledge because Allah subhah says that from his slaves it is only the people of knowledge that have reverent fear of Allah so they are the ones who have respect reverence for allahel and that fear doesn't mean that they avoid Allah that fear means that they avoid disobeying Allah okay so even these rocks recognize the greatness of Allahel and not Allah is at all unaware is from the root letters Okay is heedlessness or unawareness that basically one is too busy to pay attention to something else they're inattentive towards something and when they're inattentive they're unaware so not Allah is not at all unaware about what this is two words and ma means from which is translated as about over here and ma means what so Allah is not at all unaware about what you all do is action now a lot of people you know when they're reciting the Quran or even when they're memorizing they mix the words and okay because both of them sound very similar okay is from and is from okay one is you know and the other is you do so if you remember the context inshallah you will not make that mistake if you pay attention to the words so here Allah is not unaware of what you know that doesn't make sense allah is not unaware of what you do so it's okay next ayah is a question all right and then again also shows sequence of events so then meaning after knowing this that their hearts are so hard do meaning uh so in the translation it has been reversed because in English you don't say do then okay it would be easier to think of then do meaning then after you know that their hearts have become hard do you all eagerly desire is from the root letters okay and is basically greed okay that a person is extremely greedy for something that they are very very eager for something they deeply desire something so do you all eagerly desire and who is you all referring to the believers the Muslims so do you all do you all eagerly desire on that they believe you all remember means they believe from the root letters okay is the word and means for you all okay but remember that when comes okay let me show you this like for example it means to believe in something okay to believe in something and okay like for example they said to Musam okay we will never believe you okay so like over here this means to believe someone meaning to confirm what they're saying to believe in what they're saying so do you think that they meaning the bunny is will to you all meaning they will confirm your truthfulness the truthfulness of your messenger and indeed can it used to a party is the root remember is to separate to divide and is a party because a party is you know a group of people basically which is a fraction of a whole population okay so a party of them meaning not all of them some of them have been doing this what have they been doing they have been they hear me is the word they hear and is speech from the root letters [Music] okayam speech now what is the speech of Allah this is referring to the tawat because in the Quran we see that the word calam is also used for the Quran so the book of Allah the scripture that Allah has revealed what is that it is the speech of Allah right so a group of them hears the speech of Allah they hear theat and then what do they do then they distort it meaning they distort the speech of Allah is from the root letters okay now you know when you see this word instantly the word comes to mind okay har is a letter and literally the word is actually it means the edge of something okay the edge or the margin of something and is to bend or to turn something from its edge okay now when you turn the edge when you bend the edge it becomes something else so the is to alter it is to change it is to distort and twist something and when you twist or distort something it's no longer what it was before okay so the thing is the same all right but what's happening you just change the edge you just change it slightly you change its form so when you change its form it has become something else now here what is it that they're distorting they're distorting the speech of Allah and when it comes to distorting the speech of Allah remember that it is of two kinds one is to distort the words itself okay so for example if you change the or if you switch the letters around then you know the word is still there in its place but it has been altered it has been changed right so for example if someone deliberately changes the word to it's a slight change okay or you know about nouns in Arabic that I mentioned to you earlier that the last on the word it shows the role of the word in the sentence right whether the word is the subject or the object so if you change into fat right then you're going to change the role of the word in the sentence you're changing it from subject to object right so this is so first of all is to literally change the words all right this is and the second type of is which is to change the meanings to distort the meanings and this happens typically in translation right when you are conveying the meaning of a word in another language you are giving interpretation so instead of giving the right interpretation a person is deliberately giving the wrong interpretation okay so this is so they listen to the speech of Allah and then they distort it after they understood it is from intellect and verb that is derived from it is to understand because that's the role of the intellect it is supposed to understand things in other words they're not changing the words by accident okay due to lack of knowledge because of a genuine mistake no they're doing it on purpose so they distort the words after understanding them while they know Allahbar because you see sometimes a person makes a mistake and they don't even realize right it's completely accidental and they never realize and the other is that you make a mistake and then you know that you're making a mistake or you know you made the mistake and then after some time you realize that oh this was a mistake right so you know that you made a mistake so this is what's happening over here they distort it after they have understood it while they know meaning they know that they're distorting the words they know what the correct meaning is yet they distort it okay And when they meet now technically this is past tense he met they met but what does do to the verbs of past tense that come right after it it changes past into future or present so when they meet those who they have believed meaning the bunny is when they meet the believers they say now again they said is being changed to they say because of okay so they say we have believed so when they meet those who believe they say to them we have also believed and now mashallah you know this is from the root letters Hamza and when they are alone now is from the root letters wow okay and as a verb that which you can see here it basically means to be alone okay to be alone in a space all right where no No one else is there and especially like you can see over here okay this is connected with it is to be alone with someone okay so who is alone some of them are alone within some others what does that mean when they are alone with each other okay meaning when they are you know in their own private gatherings where they are talking amongst themselves where they are you know holding secret council they're discussing things so when they're alone with each other they say again this is being translated as present tense because of so they say do you all inform them is a question do is from the root letters ha Hadith is from the same root hadith is what it is you know typically understood as the statements of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam right so hadith is news and is to give news to someone to inform someone so do you all inform them as in the Muslims so when they're alone with each other they say "Do you all inform the Muslims of what Allah has disclosed to you all?" Meaning why are you telling the Muslims about your secrets don't tell them okay now is from the root letters you can see all three letters over here in the verb and Allah has opened to you all now what does it mean by fat fata is understood in a number of different ways over here now literally the word fat means to open okay but it's used in a number of different ways in the Arabic language fat means open as in to disclose something to someone okay like for example a secret it was hidden you open it up now what's happened people who did not know became aware of it so fata the first meaning is disclosed okay secondly the word fat is also used for judgment decree okay we ask Allah dua that okay that you are the best of judges so is also to judge okay to make a judgment so this is why it's been translated as decreed against you all and it has another meaning as well which inshallah I will tell you about in the taps now let's look at the ayah when they meet those who believe they say "We have believed." And when they're alone with each other they say "Do you inform them of what Allah has decreed to you all?" Meaning why do you inform them do not inform the Muslims because if you tell them what's going to happen so that means so that this is from the root letters okay is argument an evidence that is brought forth in an argument so you had they will argue with you all in regard to it near meaning if you tell the Muslims your inside information your inside news what's going to happen they will know about it and then tomorrow on the day of judgment they're going to have an evidence against you okay so they will argue with you all near your they will win against you then will you not understand don't you get it use some reasoning and do not tell the Muslims about these secrets of ours allah subhah t says do not now notice over here we have not translated wah because yes of course every word in the Quran is meaningful it has a benefit and over here this is connecting us with what is mentioned previously and do they not know they know is the root okay so do they not know that indeed Allah he knows same root they hide and what they publicize okay so you know when they're talking like this amongst themselves do they not realize do they not know that Allah knows what they're hiding and what they're publicizing it's all the same to Allah so they can pretend all they want before people allah subhah t knows about their reality and Allah subhah knows what they are deliberately concealing women whom and among them meaning among the bunny is areun is the plural of the wordi okay and umi is from the word and what does mean mother okay and umi is a person who only knows what they know by learning it from their mother okay meaning this is a person who has never obtained formal education okay a person who has never obtained formal education they've never sat in front of a teacher and so they do not know how to read how to write they are illiterate okay now the wordun is used in two ways first of all it's used in the general sense someone who is illiterate meaning they do not know how to read and write and that's not necessarily a bad thing okay it's not something because of which a person's value or worth is diminished because while reading and writing they are important skills they don't necessarily define a person remember the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also he did not know how to read and write and you know people have different strengths people have different capabilities some people mashallah they're so fast at reading and reading goes along with comprehension right so they can read through a book and understand it they can read through a chapter and understand it very quickly right when it comes to writing also they're very fast their hand moves fast words just flow out of their mouths mashallah very swift very smooth and And then there are other people who struggle who struggle with reading they have to read a paragraph you know once twice three times they have to read through you know chapters over and over again they have to highlight they have to take notes on the side and when it comes to writing also you know they struggle a lot you know where they might have to check the spellings or they might have to you know think about what exactly they should write so people are different okay some people Allah subhana t has granted them the skill of reading and writing they're good at it and other people they're not at the same level and then there are other people who do not even know how to read and write so no matter where you stand if Allah has given you this skill be grateful to Allah right and if you are struggling when it comes to reading and writing especially Arabic language okay then don't have low self-worth because of that and remind yourself that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also did not know how to read and write how did he learn the Quran by listening all right and he recited it back to Ji and so the Quran is for everyone every single one of us whether we are expert writers you know we are very good at studying or we struggle with it the Quran is for every single one of us you know some people mashallah when they're reciting Arabic so quick and then there are other people who have to you know pay attention to every single letter okay this is a meme okay what's on the meme there's a kasra under it and kasra is me okay so me you know it's taken them a few seconds to inunciate one letter the sound of one letter and in that time another person has recited an entire ayah so people are at different levels okay and having the ability to read and write quickly does not you know by definition make you a better person compared to another so if you have this skill alhamdulillah and if you struggle even then alhamdulillah but remember the Quran is also for you okay reading and writing is not a prerequisite to learning the Quran and alhamdulillah over time you do improve and you should allow yourself that time it's very very important that you are patient with yourself when you are learning and being patient with yourself means that you allow yourself to take time you allow yourself to seek extra help you allow yourself to take the time that you need so um first of all means illiterate someone who does not know how to read and write someone who has not had any formal education all right and secondly the word um is also used in contrast to the word kabi okay who is kitabi kitabi is a person who has the scripture okay meaning this person is from a nation from a community who have scripture divine scripture so people of the book why are they called people of the book the Jews and the Christians because they had the Tawra right they had the Injil and the Arabs on the other hand they were called the nation of the illiterates okay the in contrast to the people of the book why because they did not have a scripture okay so for example before the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam the people in Arabia they never had a scripture so Here means what in the literal sense okay ignorant ones because it says they do not know the book so among the are people who are ignorant so their state is that they do not know the book is from they do not have knowledge of the book which book the Torah except all they have is now the word ilah is used in a number of different ways sometimes it gives the meaning of except all right it's making an exception so they don't know the book and ill sometimes gives the meaning of but so all they have meaning they don't know the book instead all they know all they have is amii okay they don't know the book rather what they know is amani instead of the book they know amii and what is ammani amani is the plural of the word okay and what does mean wishful thought and the word also gives a meaning of hearsay it also gives meaning of recitation inshallah we'll explore these meanings in the not or except they assume from so they don't know the book all right what they know is wishful thoughts what they are aware of is complete hearsay not revealed scripture but hearsay and they don't know the book they can just recite the book except amii recitation right so they don't know what they're reciting in other words and all they're doing is just assuming when it comes to the matter of religion they're relying on pure assumption not fact not knowledge wow ya lamb is the root and means destruction it is said that it's also a proper noun which is the name of a valley in hell a place in hell so meaning destruction or they will be in that place in hell who to those who they write the book with their hands is from calf ta kaba is to write and kab is that which is written a book okay writing so they write the book with their hands is the plural of the word yad okay means hands so they write the book with their hands they say is the root this meaning what they have written is it is from Allah so they write whatever they want with their hands and then they say that this is from Allah why do they do that so that they purchase with it something of value which is little is from and is to purchase so they take behind which is little okay so they're basically forging fabricating things in their religion okay and they present their own writings as divine revelation why in order to obtain in order to obtain something of value which is little why is it little because no matter what a person obtains of the world in exchange for something like this is going to be little okay and summon is from the root letters for what their hands wrote again is the plural of the word and from the root letters so woe to them for what their hands wrote and to them for what they earn meaning whatever benefit they take whatever money they make whatever they earn by selling the religion basically woe to them because of that and they said it will never touch us is from the root letters means never so it will never touch us us is na what will never touch us the fire notice how it's capital F because it's referring to so they say the hellfire will never touch us except for number days ayam is the plural of the word and is from is number is that which is numbered so the fire will never touch us and if it touches us it will only touch us for a few days a few numbered days you say have you all taken means this is a question which has been translated as have and is from the root letters to take have you all taken with Allah a covenant is the root meaning do you have a special covenant with Allah has Allah promised you that he will not punish you with fire if that is the case then Allah will never go back on his covenant is from is to oppose or to go against and when a person has made a promise and they break it or they go against it that is basically right so Allah will never go back on his covenant or do you all say means or okay but here it's being used as a question so this is why it's translated as or do you all say against you all know meaning do you really have such a covenant with Allah or are you saying something that you have no knowledge of you're just making it up where's the evidence that you will not go to hell except for a few days bala no rather now bala is used in a number of different ways sometimes it gives a meaning of yes so it confirms what is mentioned previously okay and other times it gives a meaning of no rather so here there is negation first of what of their assumption that they will not go to hell except for a few days so no that's not the case this is a false belief rather the truth is the fact is that whoever he has earned same root as okay so whoever earned and evil say from the root letter sin wow hamza s is something evil is basically a sin okay and sins can be of different degrees so and evil and some specify this as you know the sin of or the sin of all right and it has encompassed him remember the word we have learned earlier in one who encompasses so it has encompassed him what has encompassed him [Music] so the word over here shows that is not just any evil this is in particular a sin okay because is further explaining the word so whoever has earned an evil and then his sin has encompassed him surrounded him than those are companions of the fire is the plural of whom it will be ones who remain eternally plural of the word and those who they believed and they have done the righteous deeds plural of the word okay righteous deeds is the root those are companions of paradise will be ones who remain eternally same word plural of the word all right let's listen to the recitation of these verses and as we listen please stand up and stretch a little bit and listen with full concentration bismillah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all behind i'm down [Music] [Music] [Music] amen for [Music] [Music] [Music] your I only know for [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] Homer [Music] allah [Music] behind [Music] alhamdulillah so we've completed our translation and word analysis so let's take a break inshallah get refreshed and come back and dive into the taps okay so um so inshallah may Allah give everyone a productive break whether it is in their rest or their work and inshallah we come back ready to learn some more so 30 minute break in the timer will be on on the screen okay so we'll see you all back we're going to [Music] [Music] What is [Music] may Allah give baraka in your time mashallah you all are back on time alhamdulillah okay so let's get started inshallah with our taps so we're going to continue with lesson number 13 of Bakar ayat number 74 to 82 now we will listen to the by sister verse number 74 then your hearts became hardened your hearts became hardened when after that after what after Allah subhah t showed you so many signs which should have given you understanding and that understanding should have softened your hearts it should have made you more obedient and more submissive to Allah however instead of your hearts becoming soft what happened is that your hearts became hard because you see in the previous ayah Allah subhah mentions the bunny is witnessed a dead man come to life right and that dead man spoke in front of them and seeing such a miracle should have made them understand the power of Allahawel and it should have made them more humble before Allahawel but instead of their hearts becoming soft and compliant and obedient what happened their hearts became hard so and if we go beyond what was mentioned right before this ayah we see that before the previous ayah before the incident of the dead person coming to life we learned about how the bunni is used right tricks when it came to the matter of Sabbath and also they mocked at Mus Alisam by their excessive questioning that ask your lord what kind of a cow is it what is its age what is its color clarify to us we're still not clear about what kind of a cow it should be so the use of trickery and the use of mockery when it came to religion this is something that hardened their hearts and we see that before those incidents we learn about so many blessings which Allah subhana t bestowed specifically upon the bani is the blessing of how you know they were rescued from the tyranny of and then how the sea was parted for them and how they were given man and salva the 12 springs and the cloud so many blessings and so many incidents that happened all of these things should have softened their hearts should have made them more obedient but Allah subhah says in ay number 13 Allah subhah says because of their breaking of the covenant the covenant which they made with Allah and what was that covenant that they would obey Allah right remember the mount was lifted over them and they were told to hold on to all of the teachings that they were given and remember those teachings but what did they do instead of obeying Allah subhana ta they disobeyed Allah they used trickery they used mockery and they openly you know broke the covenant which they made with Allah so as a result of that what happened allahh mentions that he cursed them and he also made their hearts hard so this is actually a punishment a punishment for what a punishment for disobeying Allah a punishment for being ungrateful to Allah a punishment for mocking at the religion of Allah a punishment for using trickery in matters of religion so this is a punishment but this punishment is given for a crime so what was their crime it was their breaking of the covenant it was their disobedience it was their mockery so in ay number 16 Allah subhah mentions the people of the book and he says that and a long period passed over them and their hearts became hard meaning when they had the scripture they had the teachings they enjoyed all of those you know privileges and blessings and they did not bother to show obedience to Allah and instead they you know relied upon assumption and their false as we will learn about their wishful thinking what happened their hearts became hard and because when you learn about a command of Allah then what happens is that you know at the beginning a person's heart is very soft right they're very obedient they are afraid of Allah but then what happens is that you know they commit a sin they feel bad about it they violate one limit they feel bad about it the first time but then the second time they don't necessarily feel that bad and then eventually there comes a point where the heart is so hard that a person doesn't even feel bad doing something wrong so your hearts became hard after that now a question arises that what does it mean by the hardness of the heart you see hardness of the heart is when softness compassion and humility are gone from the heart okay a person does not have compassion for others and a person does not have humility a person does not have empathy a person doesn't care basically okay and the result of the hardness of the heart is that a person is not affected by any mo any admonition any warning okay so no matter who says no matter who advises no matter what advice is given a person doesn't respond they just don't care they lose the ability to be affected by anything and may Allah subhah protect us from being so desensitized so now in the Bible also this concept is actually mentioned we learn in the book of Zechariah which is basically what is attributed to prophet Zakaria in chapter 7 verse 8-14 it says and the word of the lord came to zechariah this is what the lord almighty has said administer true justice show mercy and compassion to one another do not oppress the widow or the fatherless the foreigner or the poor do not plot evil against each other so the bunny is are given certain instructions over here but they refused to pay attention stubbornly they turned their backs and covered their ears they made their hearts as hard as flint any flint is a kind of a stone I guess they made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his spirit to the earlier prophets and so the Lord Almighty was very angry so this concept is in the Bible as well and what is understood is that the hardness of the heart is that a person does not listen to the words of Allah a person does not pay attention to any verse any admonition they're unaffected by it and this results in earning the anger of Allah so so they are like stones now here the hardness of the heart is being explained through something tangible okay that your hearts are like stones and notice how stones have been mentioned in comparison because if you think about it any other material even if it's you know metal iron yes it's extremely hard all right but when it's exposed to fire what happens it melts right when it's exposed to extreme temperatures you can mold it you can change it you can break it up but when it comes to stones stones do not melt okay you can only break them in fact stones are actually used as fuel okay we learn even in hell that the fuel of hell is people and stones so hij are basically extremely hard any you cannot melt it you can only break it so your hearts are like stones or even more intense in hardness they're even harder than stones and what is meant by over here is that gives a meaning of rather meaning your hearts are not actually hard like stones they are even harder than stones they're worse than stones and some have said that oh over here gives the meaning of tan of variation meaning some of you your hearts are hard like stones and some of you your hearts are even harder than stones they are impermeable they are not affected by anything they are deeply engrossed in sin filled with arrogance and stubbornness and void of any faith in Allah or any fear of Allah so or they are even harder than stones and then Allah subhah mentions different types of stones or rather the goodness which is found in stones because you see earlier it was said that your hearts are hard like stones but then it is said no they're even harder they're even worse because stones you know they still have some goodness in them but your hearts they're void of any good so when it comes to stones Allahh mentions three types of stones over here the first and indeed among the stones are surely that which you know they're such that rivers gush forth from them okay and I mentioned to you you know just think about how a flood comes through right that it breaks whatever is in its way so you could have the hardest of stones the biggest sometimes you know you see images of literally mountains collapsing huge buildings collapsing so they don't stay standing before the they break and rivers gush forth from those rocks okay and what happens when all of this water flows out you know this water turns into streams rivers sometimes waterfall and what happens is that the water reaches the people okay the water goes to people and rivers and streams you know they're used for irrigation you know this is fresh water it's so beneficial to people the second type and then there are other rocks which are such that they split and then what happens a little bit of water comes out of it because the water comes out of it and it just collects over there so think of springs okay the first is what rivers and streams are gushing forth the second what's happening there's only a spring of water right there's just a little bit of water that's collected but even that is beneficial right because the water that has collected now people can come there and take water and benefit from it what's happening in the first water is reaching people all right what's happening in the second people have to go to the water and then the third type and indeed among them is surely that which falls down from the fear of Allah Allah abar there are some stones which you know no water is coming through no rivers are coming through no spring nothing no goodness for people is coming but at least these stones fall they move they break away they fall from the fear of Allah at least they have this much goodness and this is something that's mentioned in other places in the Quran as well for example in ay number 21 Allahh mentions if we had revealed this Quran on a mountain you would have seen that mountain humbling and lowering itself coming down basically and breaking apart from the fear of Allah and that massive huge mountain what would happen to it it would break it would crumble out of the fear of Allah and even though a rock and a stone if you think about it it appears to be something so lifeless something so lifeless and if you have you know mud or clay or dirt somewhere you can benefit from it somehow you can you know water it you can add more fertilizer to it you can uh you know put seeds in it you can grow something out of it but when it comes to rocks you know that you can't exactly extract something out of it you can maybe break the rocks and you can maybe assemble them you can make a wall out of them but you cannot grow something out of it right so it appears to be something so lifeless and something so hard and cold and dry right it's not soft it's not soft on your feet if you've ever been to a beach where you know it's all pebbles and rocks it's difficult to walk right it hurts to walk you don't have balance and if you're not wearing proper shoes your feet are going to hurt so they're not easy to work with but still these stones have some goodness in them that they move from the fear of Allah they don't stand stubborn before Allah they fall from the fear of Allah right we learn in surah ay 143 also about musam that when he came for his appointment and his lord spoke to him mus alisam requested that that oh my lord show me I want to see you because musam could hear Allah Allah subhah b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b blessed him with this privilege that Allah subhah spoke to him directly now imagine Musa Alisam he wanted to see Allah this is out of extreme love so Allah subhah told him that you will never be able to see me because in this world we don't have that capacity right in the hereafter Allah subhah will give his chosen servants the ability the privilege of seeing him and this is something that we should ask Allah subhah for that oh Allah I ask you I beg you for the pleasure of seeing you right so this is a privilege that is reserved for the hereafter for the people of paradise so Mus Alam was told that but then Allah subhana t look at how honorable Mus Alam was before Allah that Allah said look at the mountain okay look towards the mountain if the mountain is able to stay in its place then you will be able to see me okay what happened when Allah subhana t cast some of his light on The mountain the mountain became crumbled and Mus Alam fell unconscious and the mountain could not bear the slight of Allah even so this is the reality of stones that the biggest of them the hardest of them also they fall they break from the fear of Allah but the hard hearts any nothing can move them nothing can change them nothing can affect them may Allah subhana t protect us from such hardness that you know sometimes you see this that there are people whose family is begging them you know Please don't do this please listen to us please be with us right please don't commit these crimes please don't do this please don't do that but they're unaffected unaffected by the tears of the mother by the please of the wife and then there are people who you know when they commit oppression against people so hard that they will shoot at children that they will drag children they will criminalize children they will treat children like adults they will put them in prison they will torture children you these are children who should not even be living such lives you children deserve love and compassion but children are being shot at any what kind of hardness is this so here the hardness of the heart is mentioned and it is clarified that even the stones which are compared to you know this hardness even these stones have something good in them but the human heart when that becomes hard it is worse and Allah is not at all unaware about what you all do any when a person's heart is hard then this means that they're disobeying Allah this means that They don't hesitate committing any kind of crime right against Allah against people and then they will justify it they will use lies to cover their crimes they will shed crocodile tears to present themselves as innocent whatever they're doing Allah subhah says Allah is not unaware of what you're doing allah knows about your actions allah knows about your crimes allah knows about your disobedience allah knows about your stubbornness so you can hide from people you can fool them but you cannot hide from Allah everything you're doing is being recorded and this is a threat this is a threat that there is severe consequences for such criminal behavior now one thing I want to clarify over here is that the hardness of the heart is different from firmness okay firmness and strength is something good okay firmness and strength is what that you are able to have courage in difficult situations right that you do not you know succumb you do not quit you do not become weak before a challenge right this strength and firmness is good and it's necessary resolve determination these are praiseworthy characteristics but hardness of the heart is something unhealthy that is something detrimental because hardness of the heart is that a person has no mercy when dealing with others a person has no compassion no empathy right no regard for people no regard for the fact that Allah is watching that is completely different okay when a person is firm and they have courage they have firm resolve you cannot easily you know sway them from what they believe that is good right because such people really need to be convinced all right you really need to bring solid proof solid argument you know in order to change their mind and that you know to an extent is healthy because if you don't have this quality then that means you're just going to follow anyone you're just going to be people pleasing all the time you're not your own person right but stubbornness and hardness of the heart is that you don't care about what Allah has revealed you don't care about what affecting other people and that is dangerous and you know these days people confuse being yourself with hardness of the heart they think that they're being themselves they're living their truth you know but in reality they're allowing their hearts to be hard why because if they're living their truth and that means that they're openly disobeying the commands of Allah and they don't feel bad about it then this is something very dangerous they think that they're being very confident right that the fear of people does not affect them the fear of you know public opinion or even what their parents say or what religion says does not affect them okay so they think they're being very confident this is not confidence this is hardness of the heart okay we need to be able to differentiate between the two confidence does not mean that a person has no hesitation in disobeying Allah okay this is hardness of the heart now we learn in a hadith that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said that certainly amongst the people of the earth are some who are Allah's vessels and the vessels of your lord are the hearts of his righteous servants and the most beloved to him amongst them are those who are kind and gentle those who are soft so the hearts that are soft that have compassion and care for others that are lenient and gentle with others such hearts Allah subhana t loves them so remember this Allah loves the soft heart all right now a question is how is it that the heart becomes hard we have learned in this ayah that when a person does not pay attention to does not learn from the signs of Allah this is something that hardens the heart when a person disobys Allah when a person breaks the covenant with Allah this is also something that hardens the heart so essentially what is it then it is disobedience to Allah right which hardens the heart the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said that do not speak a lot without mentioning Allah okay why because a lot of words without mentioning Allah produce hardness of the heart meaning when a person talks too much and they don't remember Allah then what will happen this will cause their heart to become hard because when you're talking too much and you're not remembering Allah there will come a point where you know you will say things which are inappropriate you know where you will enter into conversations which are sinful right so excessiveness of such conversation leads to what the hardness of the heart we also learn about how the say that eating excessively sleeping excessively talking excessively or always socializing with people these are things that can harden the heart where you don't allow yourself that solitude where you can reflect on yourself where you can connect with Allah subhana ta where you don't allow yourself the chance to recite the Quran because you've been too busy talking or because you've been eating and a lot of your time and attention resources have and going into eating you know first spending hours watching different recipes figuring out what to cook how to cook and then purchasing the perfect ingredients and then you know assembling everything together the whole day is gone into what into serving the body into pursuing desires sleeping excessively so that a person is missing prayer or that a person is not you know fulfilling their obligations this is also something that hardens the heart so disobedience to Allah for sure and secondly we see over here excessive indulgence in desires or pursuing one's desires this is also something that distances a person from Allah and it hardens the heart okay another question is that how do you soften the heart so for example if you feel that you doing something wrong does not bother you or when you listen to the Quran it doesn't really affect you or that you don't feel any hesitation in openly disobeying Allah and each one of us you know if we're honest with ourselves we will recognize these things in ourselves so if we find this in ourselves and even if we don't how do you soften the heart because even if our heart is soft we want it to be softer right because the softness of the heart is something that Allah subhana t loves so how do you soften the heart there's two ways first is that you reflect on ayati and the second is that you spend time with ayat what are ayati a ayat ki are the signs within the creation okay tangible things that we can witness that remind us of the power of Allah subhana tala that make us more conscious of Allah that make us have more fear of Allah that make us have more love for Allah subhah tala because you see they were shown the dead man come to life so that they would understand so that their hearts would soften right so seeing ayat okay reflecting on them noticing them seeing them spend spending time in nature reflecting over these things this is something that softens the heart you know for example we hear in the news a storm here or heat wave there a fire here and threat or risk of fire lightning and things like that and we just take that as a piece of news and we move on spend a few moments and seek Allah subhana t's protection seek Allah subhana t's forgiveness right when you hear about death you know someone has died or someone has fallen ill or someone has lost a loved one someone has lost their job you know different events in our life or in the lives of other people don't just you know move on from them any acknowledge them notice them reflect on them and then even within the creation we spend almost the entire day indoors and we're completely disconnected from nature and this is very unhealthy we need to look at the sky we need to look at the grass we need to feel the rain we need to feel the wind we need to pay attention to the sound of the thunder right notice these things because they will constantly remind you of the greatness of Allah subhana t and this is what keeps the heart alive it keeps the heart soft okay secondly connecting with ayat and these are verses that Allah subhana t has revealed listening to the Quran reflecting over the Quran you know learning it reciting it these things also soften the heart so for example inah ay number 83 Allah subhah mentions when they hear what has been revealed to the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam meaning when they hear the Quran you see their eyes overflowing with tears any this is a result of the softening of the heart that when they hear the Quran it impacts their heart it melts their heart it brings tears to their eyes so connect with the Quran okay and you will notice that the first thing that I mentioned connecting with ayat coni any when you look at massive clouds in the sky and you look at a beautiful rainbow or you look at the expanse of the earth around you you see running water you feel the And what kind of words come out of your mouth you say alhamdulillah you say subhan Allah you say mashallah you say Allahbar right so instantly you do of Allah you connect with Allah and this is what will keep your heart soft it will make it even softer right so ayat the signs within the creation and ayat the revealed ayat revelation okay so the connecting with them is something that will soften the heart now here when Allah subhana t mentions that you know different types of rocks different types of stones they have good in them we see that there are people who are like that as well that there are people who you know once upon a time very hard very stubborn very disbelieving even for example we learn about how he went out to kill the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam but what happened then allah subhah guided him right his heart it broke in the sense that the hardness inside just shattered right when he heard the Quran when he allowed himself to connect with the Quran and what happened when he believed literally rivers gushed forth so much good came out of him so this gives us hope that people can change right the people who can be very hard they can change people who are very unresponsive or it seems like they'll never change they can we don't know how a person might change in the future right so think about how there was a time when the Muslims were afraid of and then there came a time when was a Muslim and he became the leader of the believers he became the Khalifa so he was the strength of Muslims because you see sometimes there's somebody in our family you know we talk to them we advise them or we try to you know change their heart we try to advise them but they never listen right you tell them you know you should pray it's time for salah they don't care they don't respond do not despair do not give up hope because hearts can change right so there are some people whose hearts are very hard like stones but then an event happens in their life something happens so they become you know of those people who that who were once misguided and Allah subhah guided them so don't despair don't give up hope and you will hear stories of people whose lives you know they become completely transformed how they were so deep in sin and how Allah subhah brought them out and so much good is coming from them and then we have you know some other people who yes they were hard once upon a time and Allahh guided them and you know some good came out of them maybe not rivers and streams but at least a spring of water a little bit of good something good came of them and then there are other people like the third type of rocks who at least show humility whose stubbornness whose arrogance you know it breaks so they become humble before Allah so what do we learn from this ayah many many lessons the first the most important thing is that we need to care about our hearts we need to pay attention to the state of our heart because remember the heart is the most important part of your being okay the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam he said that there is a piece of flesh in the body if it is good then the entire body is good and if it is bad then the entire body goes corrupt because the heart is the leader it is the boss right some Sahabah compared the heart to a king to a malik right and the rest of the body is basically the armies the forces of this king so the king rules whatever the heart wants the rest of the body follows so may Allah subhana t guide our hearts may Allah subhah soften our hearts and may Allah subhah protect our hearts from becoming hard and we should pray for our hearts that may Allah subhana t adorn our heart with faith right may Allah subhana t strengthen it with iman may Allah subhana t reform it and there's a number of duas and these duas can be found in many books so we should pray for the softness for the health of our hearts then it is said then do you coveret that they would believe you okay meaning oh you Muslims do you coveret do you hope any after all of this that they will believe you this is for is to basically you know tell someone to give up okay so the Muslims are being told over here that you really think that these people are going to believe you they're not going to believe you so don't worry too much okay because if you think about the background of this ayah the Muslims in Medina the different tribes the local tribes remember that they had made alliances with Jewish tribes that lived in Medina as well so people who are friends with you people who are supposed to be your allies people you know with whom you've had a long-term working relationship you want good for them as well so when the when they believed what did they want they wanted that their allies should also believe in the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam so they would encourage them they would talk to them they would you know expectantly wait for you know members of these Jewish tribes to come and accept Islam to believe in the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam but it wasn't happening it wasn't happening so the Muslims you know they were really concerned they were really worried and you know especially when you want something good for someone and they're not willing to see it they're not willing to take it how can you help someone who does not want to be helped you cannot how can you give a gift to someone who does not want to accept that gift you can't force it and when it comes to the matter of you cannot force it on people okay so when you recognize that their hearts are so hard and this is how they treated Musam okay you think that they will treat Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam with respect and you think about how they treated Musa Alisam their own prophet how did they treat him he told them a simple instruction they said "Are you joking with us?" Right and then when he told them he made clear to them that he was serious they made fun of him basically by asking question after question after question they harassed him so if they treated Musa Alisam this way you think they're going to treat Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam with respect especially given the fact that Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam is not even from their tribe from their people he's an Arab and it's well known that they would look down on Arabs so and especially when the fact is that and indeed a party of them used to hear the speech of Allah meaning a group among them would hear the what would they do then they would distort it after they understood it and they were knowing they knew what they were doing they deliberately changed the words of Allah so if this is how they dealt with theat the book that they were entrusted with then what do you think they're going to do with Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam so this ayah is elaborating the reality of the hard heart that it is unbelieving despite knowledge there are people who if you try to advise them with an ayah of the Quran you begin the ayah and they will complete it they know the verse you want to remind them by you know referring to a certain incident from the life of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam you begin the incident they will complete it you mention one thing they will add 10 more you mention something and they will say "I know i know already i know all of this." So they have all of this knowledge yet they don't believe they have all of this knowledge yet they don't humble themselves before Allah they refuse to change themselves and here we see that they're willing to change the word of Allah they're willing to change the word of Allah but they're not willing to change themselves so this is the reality of the hard heart the person who has a soft heart will recognize they will acknowledge the shortcomings and they will recognize that they need to change they will not try to change the words of Allah and we really need to be cognizant of this because you know groups of Muslims that are constantly trying to fit in and fitting in means that every verse of the Quran every word of the Quran every tenant of Islam must somehow fit in the current narrative right or the beliefs that people hold or beliefs that you know certain ideologies teach us so they want Islam to fit in and in order to do that they will attempt to change the interpretation of the verses of the Quran whereas the fact is that we need to change our thinking in order to fit what the Quran teaches us so this is being heavily criticized over here people who deliberately distort the words of Allah knowingly so if these people change the tawat to suit their desires what do you think they will change themselves to believe in the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam they're not going to do that and when it comes to you know changing the Torat or distorting its meaning I remember this class I took on biblical studies the first lesson that the professor taught was that when you read the text of the Bible you are interpreting the Bible why because when it comes to the Hebrew text you know the conjugation the correct recitation also it's not really known okay it's not really known and you know you could read the word this way and it would mean one thing you could read the word that way and it would mean something else and this is why there are so many different translations okay and these translations are not just you know old English modern English no the translations vary a great deal so why because when you read the text by definition you are interpreting the text okay so when you're interpreting it of course there is going to be details which you're going to be comfortable with and then there's going to be other details that you're not going to be comfortable with so according to the time that you're in according to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable you know there are changes in the translations that have been made and really if you look at it the more modern translations are really very modern right and if you look at older translations there are things which are very very harsh difficult to comprehend difficult to accept so this group of them which deliberately distort the text this group is referring to the group of their scholars because they are the people who knew the book the ordinary people did not know the book so if this is the state of the knowledgeable among them that they distort the text knowingly then what do you think they're going to do with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam you think they're going to believe you you think they're going to accept him no they're not so don't worry too much about these people okay and this is very very important because you know there are some people you care about them you love them because of the relationship that you have whether it is the fact that you are friends with them or the fact that they're related to you and you want good for them and you try to you know explain to them you try to advise them but they don't care they don't respond so yes you should have hope right you should have hope you should pray for them and you should keep trying you should not give up but at the same time you cannot worry too much about them because if you worry too much about them it's unhealthy for you it's unhealthy for you and worrying too much sometimes looks like blaming yourself okay worrying too much looks like you know that you're constantly preoccupied with you know their welfare or advising them or you know your concern for them and you are not paying attention to your other responsibilities you know for example if there is a child a parents have for for example a teenager right who is refusing to pray right refusing to listen to anything you know being extremely rude now of course parents are going to be worried about this child right and they're not going to give up hope they're going to do their best they're going to keep trying they're going to keep praying they're going to keep thinking of ways to you know soften the child's heart toward them toward the dean of Allah but at the same time they need to draw you know a boundary why because if they're constantly blaming themselves this is my fault this is my fault this is my fault I'm not doing enough I'm not doing enough this is very detrimental to your self-image right it's very unhealthy and this concern this grief this worry is going to destroy you it's going to destroy your confidence it's going to destroy your ability to look after yourself your ability to look after your other children so you have to come out of that blame game and you have to understand that guidance is in the hand of Allah okay guidance is in the hand of Allah yes we have to do our part and you ask yourself am I doing my part yes I am even if people say you're not because people don't know your reality people don't know how hard you're trying people don't know what efforts you've been making right for all of these years they don't know and they will blame you so you don't listen to people and where you have hope you also have to draw a boundary so this ayah is very important because it's telling us to not worry too much about people who don't care about themselves right you do worry for them but not too much not excessively and this is something that's mentioned in the Quran in a number of different ways you know for example at the beginning of surah ta where the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam is basically told not to grieve too much over people who don't believe right because the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would take it personally and he would grieve a lot over people who did not believe so you need to have that balance then it is said and when they meet those who believe they say we have believed and instantly this reminds us of the verses we learned earlier about the hypocrites right that when they go to the believers they say we believe and then when they are with their say that we were only mocking so some say that there were some individuals from the yahood who actually embraced Islam okay they did embrace Islam because when they saw the signs of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam when they heard the Quran when they learned about the teachings any they had no reason to deny so they accepted Islam but then what happened is that soon after they became hypocrites how what is hypocrisy that a person outwardly says they're Muslim but in the heart there's no iman there's no faith on the inside is disbelief on the outside is Islam so what happened is that initially They embraced Islam and then you know when they would talk to the Muslims and you know they would acknowledge that yes this happened yes you know the Quran says this this is also in the Tawat yes you know for example the incident of the people of Sabbath who violated the Sabbath so you know they would acknowledge that yes this happened right and yes these violations happened till today so in these conversations what would happen you know whatever they knew of their scripture they would disclose that to the Muslims because remember that the Tawat was in their language in Hebrew the Arabs did not speak Hebrew and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam one of the reasons why he told some of the companions to learn the language of the yahood was so that there would be no deception because when it came to translation there would be deception right so what happened allahh says that when they meet the believers they say we believe but when they are when they are alone with one another they say do you talk to them about what Allah has revealed to you why do you talk to them about what is in theat don't tell them why do you talk to them about you know the punishments that Allah gave to our ancestors don't tell them why do You talk to them about the things that Allahh has favored you with don't tell them so this is understood in three ways okay one interpretation is as you can see in your translation Allah has disclosed to you all okay meaning what Allah has informed you about the final messenger so those who believed among them you know they would tell the Muslims yes the tawat tells us that the messenger will be like this and like this and like this and Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam is like this okay so then their leaders would reprimand them that why are you telling them about all of these signs about what Allah has disclosed to you all regarding the truth of the final messenger don't tell them because if you tell them then they're going to argue with you on the day of judgment you know before Allah that yes these people knew the signs of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam they recognized him sallallahu alaihi wasallam yet they disbelieved in him so don't give the Muslims an argument against you okay by informing them about the signs of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam that we recognize secondly also means what Allah has decreed against you all okay meaning the different punishments that Allah gave to our ancestors like for example the people who violated the sanctity of the Sabbath right so don't tell them about these incidents because if you tell them then you know they will say the Quran is confirming what happened the Quran is true the Quran is factual don't tell them about these things so that they can never verify these accounts when they will never be able to verify these accounts they will you know not know whether the Quran is you know telling the truth or not right so basically leave the Muslims in confusion or leave them unaware because if you tell them about all of these incidents that happened if you confirm these incidents then they will argue with you before Allah on the day of judgment and they will say you know these people knew they recognized yet they didn't believe and thirdly has also been understood as what Allah has blessed you with what Allah has honored you with because in the Quran we learned that surely we would have opened up to them the blessings of the sky meaning we would have blessed them with many many blessings so in the Quran you know so far we have learned about so many blessings that Allah subhah gave to the bunny is right how could the Muslims of the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam verify those blessings because the Muslims majority of them were um they did not know how to read and write and even if they knew how to read and write they did not have access to the Tawat because the Tawat was not you know publicly available all right and even if they did get their hands on a scroll or two they could not you know read the text and if even if they manage to read the text you know you need to understand the text somebody needs to explain that to you now alhamdulillah it's so easy you can open up the Bible you can read you can read a commentary you can listen to you know an explanation there's ways to verify at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam there was no way to verify no way but of course we believe that the Quran is from Allah so every information in every news that Allah subhana t has given we believe in it right so the Jews would say to each other that don't verify these accounts don't verify what the Quran says don't acknowledge it why because if you do then the Muslims will have an argument against you they will have a proof against you that we knew yet we did not believe so you see what's happening over here first of all they're changing the book right and then they're trying to hide the book as well they're trying to conceal what the book says and then they say "Will you not reason use your reason don't give an argument to the Muslims against yourselves some people are trying to be smart but in the wrong way right so Allah subhah says but do they not know that Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare before the Muslims they come and say we believe we're with you and then later on when they're with each other when there is no other Muslim around they say such things to each other don't they realize that Allah is a witness to their conversations allah knows exactly what they're hiding what they're doing in private what they're saying in private and what they're showing to people because you see what they conceal and what they declare they were two-faced right before the Muslims one way amongst you know themselves another way so don't they realize that Allah subhana t knows and you see when a person is being two-faced one way in front of certain people another way in front of another group of people or you know lying and pretending being two-faced a person thinks that they're actually being very smart okay but they're not being smart this is why Allahh says about the hypocrites that they try to deceive Allah and those who believe but in reality who is it that they're deceiving in reality they're only deceiving themselves so pretense lying cheating being two-faced this is not smart this is not intelligent behavior and you see this idea that Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare allah knows what we hide what we show this is something that we believe in as Muslims right because we believe that Allah subhana t is he is ever knowing and you know this theme is actually it's not that evident within the text of the Bible you know for example even in the story of Adam and you know it's mentioned that Adam hid right that you know he hid from God and you know there's so many incidents details that are mentioned you know from which you would think that apparently God does not know everything and I remember asking one of the professors about this when we were reading a certain text of the Bible that you know is this not a core concept that God knows everything and he's like you'd be surprised the Bible does does not really reflect that the accounts in the Bible don't really reflect that so you know you would think that any person would think that God knows everything because what would be the difference between God and man then so this core belief of ours that Allah subhana t is he is the knower of all of the unseen right he is the knower of the unseen and the witnessed that Allahh is ever knowing this is a very clear concept and this is something that saves a person from a lot of wrong because you know that you cannot hide from Allah and when a person thinks that they can hide from Allah this ignorance leads to a lot of sins may Allah subhah protect us so [Music] then it is said and among them are unlettered ones who are such that who do not know the scripture except in wishful thinking so among the people of the book are those who are unlettered okay now this is strange because if they're people of the book what does it mean they are people of knowledge yet the irony is that the vast majority of them do not know the book so how are they people of the book if they don't even know the book now yes this ayah is talking about you know the bunny is but we really need to think about ourselves also that we claim to be people of the Quran may Allah subhana t count us among the people of the Quran but we need to honestly ask ourselves that how much Quran do I really know any we have read so many books in our lives think about it if you have a basic college degree any you have read a lot of articles you have read a lot of books right a lot of texts of different subjects right you know there things that you read because you you enjoy them and there are things that you read because you just have to you don't have a choice right so think about all of the words that we have read have we read the Quran in the same way you know when you reach the end of a semester and you look at your book highlighted there's notes there's postit it looks like yes this book has been studied well what about our what is that like are there parts which you know we have marked so that we don't forget are there you know parts where you know we have written reflections and notes and meanings and things like that so that we remember we don't forget any how is it that we have studied the Quran and how is it that we have studied other things so among the people of the book are those who are unlettered and their illiteracy is the fact that they don't know the scripture they have no idea about what is in the scripture and alhamdulillah there are among Muslims Many people who actually don't know how to read and write but they have memorized the Quran isn't that amazing they don't know even how to read Arabic but they have memorized the Quran right you see this in children especially that they still don't know how to read but they have memorized fat they have memorized mul they have memorized they have memorized the 30 and this is the miracle of the Quran the blessing that Allah subhah has blessed the Muslims with so we see over here that real illiteracy is that a person does not know the book okay and knowing the book is of different levels one is that you know the text of the book right and then another is that you know the meaning of that text the application of that text so the bunny is are being criticized over here that they're supposed to be people of the book yet they don't know what their own book says we need to think about ourselves here that how much of the Quran do I know and even if I don't know how to read and write do I at least try to learn the Quran by listening to it because that is definitely possible so and all they have is just what does this mean this means that all they know about their religion is just wishful thinking okay wishful thoughts and the singular of the word amii ammani means a kadib okay lies invented things basically all right so these are you know wishful thoughts which are also you know hearsay okay they're not truths these are actually lies so for example they don't know what the scripture actually says what they know about the religion is just wishful thoughts they've never read the text they've never understood it they have never known it and all they know is stories they have heard from their scholars they rely on their scholars so they have formed certain you know false concepts invented beliefs that actually don't have any basis in the scripture okay and especially you know this is true for people who claim to be adherence of the first and second testament the Christians any there are so many beliefs within Christian theology that came about hundreds of years after Isaam and there's no real basis for that theology within the text of the scripture even these are just interpretations that they have heard from you know different people And they have formed that belief and this is also so true for the Muslims you will see Muslims quoting things talking about things you know stories and things like that which have no basis in the hadith or in the Quran concepts which are not true at all you know for example yesterday someone was asking me that they were eating a burger once and somebody criticized them that don't eat like this you don't eat by biting the food you have to take a morsel of food in your hand and then you put that in your mouth and she said why i mean why is it wrong to eat like this and they said that you know basically they used some analogy they said dogs eat like this right so it's not a good thing Islamically to eat in this manner so she was asking me that okay how do I eat a burger then i'm like look the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam he used to eat meat by biting the meat off of the bone we learn about how Aisha has said that she would take a piece of meat all right and she would eat from it directly by biting all right and she would put it down and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would pick up the same piece of meat that same bone and then he would eat he would bite from the same place that Aisha had you know taken a bite from and she mentioned this to show that even when she was menstruating the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would do that which means that a menstruating woman her body is clean okay her mouth is clean her saliva is clean because when you take a bite from somewhere of course your saliva would be there your mouth has touched it so if the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam ate meat in that way that he's literally taking a big piece of meat and then he's taking a bite off of it that means you can eat a burger as well so you see there are false concepts within Muslims also which have no basis no basis in the Quran no basis in the Sunnah and people think that you know by not eating a burger in that way they're being righteous right or by criticizing people who are eating burgers they're being righteous and there is no piety in that right real piety is in doing things which Allah and his messenger have actually taught us so we need to really question ourselves that the beliefs that we hold what are they rooted in just things we have heard or actual fact so their religion is based on what wishful thoughts that you know we are the people of the book we are the children of the prophets god loves us and so we can do whatever we want wishful thoughts and hearsay and they're only assuming they don't have conviction they don't have and another interpretation of the word ami also means okay recitation in you know it is mentioned about how that attempts to you know interfere in the recitation of the prophet okay so over there means recitation so ami means recitations all right meaning all that they know about the book is just recitations they only read the book they only recite the scripture they don't take it practically they don't apply to their lives why because they don't really understand it so there are people who will be dedicated to just the recitation of the scripture okay just the reading of the scripture but they're reading without any understanding and this is something again we need to reflect over that you know sometimes we set these targets for ourselves that I have to recite a I have to recite two I have to recite I have to recite okay recite set those targets for yourself but don't just recite mindlessly recite and reflect and of course you know there are times when you just need to you know for example recite for the purpose of reviewing what you have memorized so if you start reflecting on every ayah every word you will not be able to reach the end of the ayah even so in that case at least reflect over one or two things on each page okay pause in your recitation and make dua for yourself related to what the ayat are saying so just recitation without reflection without comprehension is being criticized over here and we need to be careful as well they only assume so woe to those who write the scripture with their own hands now of course you write with your hands but when it's said that they write with their own hands this is emphasizing the fact that they're forging the fact that they're fabricating right and then then they say this is from Allah why do they do that in order to exchange it for a small price in order to gain some worldly petty gain now we learned that at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam there was a particular incident there was a case of zena all right and then what happened is that they wanted the legal punishment for it they came to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam he said bring the tawat what does the tawat say and they said something different to what the tawat actually says meaning they gave a lighter punishment so Abdahb you know he interjected over there and he said no bring the Tawat let's see what the Torat actually says because he knew the Torah right and then when they began reading it the words which you know gave the exact punishment they covered those words they skipped over them okay and then Abdahb again he interjected and you know he made them read those words and so the truth was exposed so the point is that you know they would attempt attempt to change the scripture alter the words hide the words and specifically what is meant by over here some say that this is referring to the fatawa the legal verdicts that they would give to their people in order to save them from legal punishments for the crimes that they were convicted of because the legal punishments in the Mosaic law are actually very very severe very severe there is death penalty for the person who violates the sanctity of the Sabbath i read to you a few verses in our previous class that show that you know the punishment for the person who violates the Sabbath is death right so think about it and the Mosaic law is actually very very strict when they worship the calf they had to kill each other right the punishment was death for so many crimes the punishment is actually death and if you read especially the book of Deuteronomy and it's kind of scary and the pen is very very harsh so of course when you are applying that you know it's going to be hard people are not going to take that easily so what would they do they would change it in order to please people and by pleasing people right when they would give them an easy punishment what would they gain some monetary gain some monetary benefit all right and this is referring to the is referring to you know the income that they would make the bribe basically right so woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn their crime is double one is the fact that they fabricate and second is the unlawful earning the bribe the money that they have earned so here in this ayah we see that people who alter the religion of Allah are being criticized people who change the word of Allah in order to please people in order to please others in order to gain some worldly benefit and they invent things in the religion they attribute that to God to make that more legitimate and this is being criticized over here now one thing that is really something we need to pay attention to go to them for what their hands have written okay if Allah subhah has given you the ability to write be very very careful you are responsible for what you write and be careful about what you write what kind of words are coming out of your hands what kind of words is your pen writing is it you know words that are respectful that are appropriate that Allah subhana ta that are acceptable before Allah or words which are not acceptable before Allah i remember once I had to write an assignment which was on the second testament the book of Mark and basically you know you had to show that Jesus is the son of God okay and of course I do not believe that and I did not want to establish that argument but you know that you know in an academic setting you can write for something against something as long as you you know present your argument you present your proof it will be accepted now the way that you know the essay was supposed to be structured the instructions that were given if I you know established that Jesus is a son of God I could have written that essay in half an hour literally it was not that difficult but I did not want to write that because you know this is shik right you know I had to access so many different articles and so many different you know explanations of that particular book of Mark and you know it was very challenging and alhamdulillah I did manage to finally established that Jesus is not the son of God even from the lens of the gospel it was hard it was really difficult it required a lot of effort but I did not want to write those words with my hand which some people wanted me to write i did not want to write those words so we need to be careful about what we are writing okay sometimes you know in a text message right we will write things which are horrible which are very very rude so be careful when Allah subhana t gives you a skill when Allah subhah gives you a certain strength a certain privilege you have to use it responsibly and teach this to your children as well to your siblings as well because you know sometimes children will write things on the wall they will write things on the table sometimes children will write things in the washrooms and these words are dirty words are you know inappropriate we have to be careful because some People are being punished for what their hands have written and remember one of the interpretations is that it's referring to a certain place in we have to be careful about what we say with our mouths and also what we write with our hands now remember their wishful thinking part of their wishful thinking is that they say that never will the fire touch us except for a few days so their false belief is now being criticized so say and you respond to them that have you taken a covenant with Allah and he where's that evidence that you will not be punished with hell except for a few days if that is the case that Allah has promised you then Allah will never break his covenant allah will never go against he will never go back on his covenant or do you say about Allah that which you do not know so this is an example of how they would ascribe to Allah what he did not say what Allah did not reveal what Allah did not promise and they ascribe to Allah what they do not know and this assumption is also found in many Muslims they say that because I'm a Muslim I'm from the um of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam jenna is for me jenna is guaranteed well yes we should be hopeful we should be hopeful but this does not mean that we go on committing sin after sin and justifying it you know thinking that it's okay to you know commit these sins that is not correct [Music] yes whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him what does this mean this is a very powerful description that is given over here first of all Allah subhah is clarifying their false assumption right they said that fire will not touch us allah subhah says no way what you believe is false because Whoever earns evil if someone earns evil and what is evil a sin right and and other and other they said this is or kufur right this is associating partners with Allah or disbelieving in something that one must believe in like for example not believing in one of the books that Allah has revealed or not believing in one of the messengers of Allah this is kufur right so if someone has committed a sin like this has earned an evil it's in his record all right and and his sin has encompassed him because now that that will lead to what it will lead to sins all right and the specifically is sin and shik will become a gateway kufur will become a gateway to committing other sins right because one sin leads to another it allows you to commit other sins and what happens then is that the sin surrounds a person it encompasses him and when a person is encompassed by something surrounded by something what does it mean they cannot escape right they cannot escape so what does it mean by this that their sin has encompassed him this means that first of all their sin of shik all right of kufur has destroyed their other good deeds their good deeds will not be valid because of their shik their good deeds will not be valid because of their kufur you see where good deeds erase bad deeds there are certain sins also that destroy good deeds remember this so His sin has encompassed him meaning because of the shik because of the kufur they will be trapped okay on the day of judgment they will not be able to escape their good deeds will not rescue them their good deeds will not save them their good deeds will not be enough for them because that one sin of denying the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam is enough to destroy all of their good deeds so they will be companions of the fire so this is talking about the day of judgment okay that on the day of judgment literally their sin of shik will encompass them and secondly this is understood as that in this world okay their sin has encompassed them meaning they're surrounded by that sin they're in that circle not coming out because remember the shik the kufur becomes a gateway for other sins so one sin leads to another which leads to another meaning they're not repenting from it okay they're not repenting from it and if they're not repenting from it then this means that they're not going to change they're not going to come out of it and you see we can see this that one is that they do something wrong and then they justify it they are proud about it okay they rejoice over it and so they never repent so such people will be companions of the fire and they will be they will abide therein eternally so wishful thinking will not save a person and we really need to be honest with ourselves because sometimes we justify our sins because we have wishful thinking we think it's okay and we belittle sins and then one sin leads to another it leads to a greater sin a much more worse sin and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam warned us he said "Beware of the sins that are belittled because they gather together right because when there are so many then what happens they're enough to destroy a person." And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam gave an example he said that the example is like that of a people who camp somewhere okay and this land is empty it's barren nothing is growing over there and they want to light a fire so each person goes and finds some dry piece of wood and when all of them return each person has brought you know one piece of wood so now they have a pile of dry wood and that is enough to light a huge fire so just like that when a person commits one sin it's no big deal another sin no big deal another sin no big deal and now a worse sin a worse sin a greater sin they're not repenting they're not coming out of that trap so but they who believe and do righteous deeds those are the people of Jenna they will abide there in eternally so what is made clear over here that im needs to be proper right eman means believing in all of the prophets all of the books and then with iman there should also be there should also be righteous action not sin righteous action so those people will be people of paradise and they will abide therein eternally so Jenna is not because or salvation is not because you identify with a certain group you carry a certain label or you have certain assumptions paradise is with faith and righteous action may Allah subhah make us amongst the people of faith and people of righteous action amen inshallah we'll conclude over here [Music] allah behind [Music] alhamdulillah we've completed our target lesson let's go over a couple of points together inshallah okay so ayah number 74 what is the subject of this ayah ayia number 74 we go back to the beginning of our lesson today hearts and rocks right yes hard hearts the hardness of the heart subhan Allah so Allahh is telling us that then your hearts became hardened after that being like stones or even harder for indeed there are stones from which rivers bust forth and there are some of them that split open and water comes out and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah and Allah is not unaware of what you do yes subhan Allah so the hearts became hard what made the hearts of the ban is hard why did they become hard and they didn't take lessons disobedience as a punishment they disobeyed right they disobeyed over and over subhan Allah yeah they had arrogance they mocked the words of Allah subhanaa tala disrespected the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam i'm sorry Musa Alisam yes they ignored the favors they disobeyed they broke the covenant with Allah subhana wa ta'ala now this is a list but subhan Allah it could be applied to anyone right ungrateful yes it's possible it could be applied to ourselves how many times do we disobey how many times do we make fun of others how many times do we have subhan Allah more than most people in the world and we are still ungrateful how many times are we shown subhan Allah the blessings and we are we don't acknowledge them or we're ungrateful for them so can this happen to us as well yeah like breaking the covenant yes so subhan Allah how many times do we not obey the commands of Allah subh tala yes this is absolutely can happen to us as well right so now what is our job now that we're you know taking a lesson from these ayat what is it that we are going to do um sometimes yes we're a victim of others but sometimes subhan Allah we have to um get out of that victim mentality as well right yes be grateful so recognize the blessings around us i recognize subhan Allah that we have so much we have so much subhan Allah and be grateful for every single thing that we have and honestly the things that we have sometimes we don't use them for years but we won't get rid of them but we still won't be grateful for them we have so much alhamdulillah so much to be grateful for right it should melt our hearts shouldn't it how much Allah has blessed each and every one of us and if for if with nothing else then subhan Allah the fact that he has chosen us to understand these words and subhan Allah by next week you'll know these words you'll be able to hear them anywhere and understand the Quran directly in Arabic now isn't that a huge favor of Allah subhanaa tala Yes we have to become aware we have to self-reflect right so that means to be aware what is the state of my heart what's going on in my heart you know we were talking about becoming angry earlier right shouting at kids why is my heart that hard that I don't have mercy for the people in front of me right you know what's going on there if any one of us here was told that we have a heart disease like a physical heart disease and we we need open heart surgery would any of us be sitting here calmly no way we'd be looking for the best doctors that we could afford we'd be calling our friends and saying "Hey do you know a cardiologist i need heart surgery." Now when you compare that subhan Allah to what we are going through right now which is in need of a spiritual open heart surgery right because yes we'd be so worried right and we will heal from that right so many people have open heart surgery and they heal and they live for years healthy lives after that as well but if we don't dissect our hearts and figure out the root problem that is causing this disease in our hearts are we going to be okay we're not right because subhan Allah this is going to affect the rest of our lives and the hereafter as well so this is a much much greater heart surgery is to figure out the root problem why is my heart art how can I fix it right so we we need a heart checkup checklist right so we can you know we can take some um points and inshallah you know just check up on ourselves so let's say what is my connection with Allahh so am I feeling the sweetness of iman what is my you know attitude when it's time for salah do I want to go pray or do I take it as a task or a burden okay so if I don't have the want to pray then what's wrong right we need to figure out what's wrong because this is a you know a normal feeling for a lot of people they don't want to go pray right so then I need to figure out right i need to do some surgery i need to go deep inside and check okay what's wrong here figure out the cause maybe I don't really know Allahhana tala maybe I don't really know why I'm praying maybe I don't understand what I'm saying and that's why I don't enjoy my salah i figure out what it is that is preventing us from having a softened heart um we should remember um that Allah is aware of everything and try to fix our heart absolutely yes uh make dua for soft and firm firm hearts for ourselves and our loved ones yes um we have duas for that as well inshallah we can share them don't sleep eat talk socialize excessively so we have time for ibada yeah definitely um definitely so uh too much sleeping too much eating too much talking all of these things make a heart you know unaware right unaware and so then it becomes hard um I notice that when you pray fudger you also pray all your brother all your other prayers subhan Allah yes when you start your day with baraka subhan Allah the baraka flows throughout the day organize your day around salah times absolutely it will bring baraka in your day um honestly if you start your day right the whole day goes smoothly yes very true so in that it can also include you know how we interact with the people around us in the morning do we send everyone off to school and work you know even ourselves in a bad mood right what is the beginning of the day like subhan Allah and then um check on our intentions so we checked on our connection with Allahhana tala then our intentions am I truly doing things for the sake of Allahhana tala or do I do it for praise or do I do it to show off so if I did it for praise right for example let's say I vacuumed right now if no one noticed if no one said "Oh wow the house has been vacuumed it looks so nice." Then I'm not going to do it next time right because why should I do it no one noticed and no one said thank you and no one said it looked nice so why should I do it next time now what if I change my intention and I say I'm vacuuming because Allahh loves those who are clean and angels love areas that are clean so I'm going to vacuum for the sake of Allahh now am I going to care if someone says good job does it matter to me no it doesn't matter because I didn't do it for the thank you or the good job i did it for a much greater reason which was to please Allah subha to get the blessings of angels around me and then what's my reaction to sins right sometimes like um was mentioned in taps as well that first you do something once and you feel you know guilty then you do it again you feel less guilty you do it again even less guilty to the point where you don't even care anymore right it has no effect on you and this is human nature uh subhan Allah so what is my reaction to sins yeah never belittle sins feel remorse right so do I feel guilty or remorseful do I seek forgiveness or have I become numb right so easy one for everyone to understand backbiting right very easy to talk about other people very easy to laugh at other people very easy to make fun of other people so maybe you felt bad first time you did it second time but then subhan Allah it's so much fun other people are laughing along with you right it really makes you feel good about yourself and then instead of seeing it as a sin subhan Allah you start to see it as a way to you know get some followers or get you know have some fun become more popular right so what's our reaction to sins because this also hardens the heart right and then um to have humility to have humility to recognize that we need Allah allah doesn't need us allah has the entire universe subhan Allah and beyond we don't even know what else is out there at his disposal subhan Allah but I need Allah right i need Allahh to protect me i need Allah to hear my duas to accept my duas I need salah i need Quran i need to connect with Allah subhana tala and to have that humility that will also soften our hearts um no sin is small we must stop ourselves and realize and seek Allah absolutely absolutely but you know we have to also realize that we're human right and we're not going to become angels overnight and if we think that this is how it's going to work it doesn't work like that i'm sorry right small steps small steps it starts with recognizing and then correcting right and inshallah um as we go through the Quran we'll able to see our own mistakes even more and inshallah we'll be able to correct them as well right um Allahh loves to forgive yes Allahh absolutely loves to forgive and Allahh is 100% willing to forgive anyone who asks right so we have to ask for forgiveness and there are also Allah's mercy is so great that there are different deeds that we do that automatically subhan Allah get us forgiveness for example when we make wudoo right we wash away our sins subhan allah we're not even asking but we wash away our sins right so Allahh's forgiveness and mercy is huge it's great but we have to take advantage of those right absolutely will never become angels and you know what there's a hadith that um the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam told us that if everyone in the world was to become sinless right that means that they never made any sins then Allah subhana wa t'ala would replace those people with people who made who sinned and sought forgiveness so Allahh is not expecting us to become angels subhan allah because that's not possible loves loves to forgive allah loves to forgive so much so that if we became angels he would replace us with people who sinned and sought forgiveness right um even things that aren't haram but lead to haram should be avoided if we think it's not haram get decent leads to greater sins no so when it comes to things that aren't haram we need to be very clear on what are the limits right because we're going to make our life very very difficult if we start to make things that aren't haram haram on ourselves right so we need to know what are the limits right so if something is not haram what's the limit to when it can cause problems so I need to stop at the limit right i need to stop there yes start small start small and then inshallah continue um yes exactly all of Biada make mistakes yes all of the um children of Adam make mistakes but the best are those who seek forgiveness um maybe make a list of five things you want to change about yourself and consciously work on it straight for some time and see the results why not absolutely and if five is hard start with one right start start somewhere though um absolutely excellent point you need to take some action right we need to take some action so that inshallah we can um you know reach some point if we don't take any action we're not going to get anywhere it's like we should try our best to be righteous and if we do make mistakes we should ask for forgiveness absolutely we do our best we do our best but we're human allah has created us uh subhan Allah with faults right we are faulty we are weak i mean Adam how did he get to the earth he made a mistake right him and they made a mistake and they ended up on the earth right so what does this tell us that this is something we are going to do we are going to make mistakes but a smart person what do they do they learn from their mistakes right just like Adam he learned from his mistake he sought forgiveness right and Allahh forgave him so never give up hope never ever ever give up hope there's always hope alhamdulillah as long as we are alive there is hope um absolutely we take action but absolutely do not look down on others yes while we correct ourselves because that then will become arrogance which is just like shaitan right so another um point to check our hearts is our emotion towards other people right what is the state of my heart when I am around different people am I you know arrogant around others do I feel I'm better than someone do I you know am I jealous of someone am I resentful of someone so you Check take a check of our hearts on that as well right and then basically we need to feed our hearts right just like we feed our stomachs we need to feed our heart as well right so what is the food for our heart what is going to keep our heart healthy spiritually our iada right yes the Quran connecting to the Quran recitation remembrance of Allah yes making dua so we when we make dua we realize that it is Allah who is going to um you know accept our duas and make things happens for us right and then our company the people that we're with right so alhamdulillah you have group sessions alhamdulillah you have you know good people with you on our telegram groups alhamdulillah so you know keep connected with people who are good whether you're online or you are on site right wherever you may right to have good company also makes a huge difference right worship um yes Quran dua all of these things alhamdulillah connection connecting with family um having mercy with your families right so if your child is sleeping have mercy on your child wake them up kindly um you know uh be mindful that you know everyone just woke up everyone is tired in the morning you know they're trying to do their best to get up and get out of the house so you know to have some mercy there as well on everyone inshallah definitely keeping good company right and you're good company alhamdulillah you're already there right you're already in a group alhamdulillah so you have um good company already alhamdulillah and then to build good company on other places as well inshallah yes to connect with people that remind us of Allahh um absolutely um when we have good people around us we're motivated to do good every night before sleep judge yourself how did you do that day what can I do to make it right tomorrow inshallah ask Allah to help you in every way excellent alhamdulillah yes to inshallah take a judgment of ourselves before um Allahh judges us right so may Allah enable us to you know perform our own heart surgeries and inshallah remove defects of our heart through the baraka of hisam alhamdulillah okay so let's inshallah come to our next uh subject we are alhamdulillah going to complete our um sorry our sunnah okay so before I forget the ayat for the week alhamdulillah your homework for the week are uh ayat 63 to 82 okay lessons 12 and 13 of bakar right so you can in make a note of that and uh there are there is a resource uploaded uh for those of you who found um learning about the Sabbath um in the Bible interesting there's a reference for that that has been uploaded on the portal so you can inshallah keep that in your notes if you would like okay inshallah so now let's come to so we're going to complete uh the subject today uh we are going to complete yesterday's lecture inshallah and then um finish off chapter 13 as well and today's lecture okay so if you all are ready you can type one so that inshallah we know that you have your sunna notes open okay excellent so let's inshallah get started with sisteria and we were talking about innovation page number 53 we begin from precept number 79 the contempt for the evil consequences of Bradm never replied to the salutation of an innovator meaning if there was a person who practiced who practiced innovation whether he invented it himself or he followed others blindly in that then Abdullahb would not respond to his greeting of salam he would not even respond to his greeting of salam why do you think so when do you not respond to someone's greeting when you're upset with them when you dislike them for example if somebody's calling you when is it that you won't take their phone call that despite the fact that you're free you have the chance but still you don't want to pick up the phone why because you don't want to speak to them you don't like them you're upset with them you dislike what they do you dislike what they have to say so Abdahbar would not even respond to the greeting of those who indulged in innovations [Music] narrated that a person called on and told him meaning a person inquired about Omar and told Nafir that you tell him that I'm giving him salam this is just like you know if you see somebody you say to them that please send my salam to your mother please give my salam to your sister please give my salam to your aunt so likewise a man he sent his salam through to who um so he replied that I have heard that he has started an innovation if this is true then do not give my response to his salutation if this is true then do What how are you all doing [Music] allham aliham lifetime nothing prevented him yet he did not do it if we remember this definition it will be very easy for you to understand what Bida is and it will be very easy for you to check whether something is an innovation or not let me clarify this point for you a little bit more so you see a new matter it could have been done nothing prevented him sallallahu alaihi wasallam from doing it and yet he did not do it if all these three things are true with regards to an action then that would be an innovation let's take the example of celebrating the birthday of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam could it have been practiced is there a possibility yes right meaning that people not know when he was born people knew right did people not love him yes did people not have respect for him yes people had respect for him right and how do we show our love and respect for someone by remembering their birthday you might say "No but this is in our culture today." But back then also we know that when the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam migrated to Medadina later on it was that the hij calendar was established we know that in our dean remembering dates is very very important the so many times it's mentioned halal I mean it's so important dates are very important so if a date such as this was important to remember important to celebrate would he not have celebrated it yes so that means that it could have been done next Nothing prevented the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam from doing it was there some verse in the Quran some prohibition from Allah subhana tala no there was nothing preventing him from doing that but did he do it no he didn't do it so yet he did not do it so yes yes yes that means it's a let's look at another example before the prayer before their salah how is their salah performed the salah is first and then you have the now is there a possibility that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam could have reversed the order he could have to make it more convenient for people right that everybody's coming okay the should begin and then when everybody's together then pray salah together so many people misread salah because of this right could he not have swapped the order he could have nothing prevented him there was no difficulty then yet he did not do it that's right he didn't do it so that means if today if a person swaps the order then what would that Another example prayer prayer means that in the month of Ramadan in the night all the people are praying together in one J like not in different different houses one person praying separately another person's praying separately or one person standing in the corner of the masjid another person standing in another corner of the masid no all the people are praying together behind one imam this is what prayer could it have happened at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam yes he could have led everyone every night of the month of Ramadan and nothing prevented him no something did prevent him what prevented him the fear that it might become obligatory so there was a reason why he did not do it the fear that it might become obligatory and he did not do it so is this a bida no it's not a bida why because he did the action there was a reason why he didn't do it regularly in this particular way so which is why later on when he was a Khalifa and he made people pray together don't think that it's or if these days you go to the masjid and pray together don't think that it's a bid it's not a bid let's look at another example use of microphone could it have been done at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam no nothing prevented him is that true no something did prevent him that technology did not exist right and he did not do it yes he didn't do it is this a bid no it's not a bida you just need to think a little bit more analyze these examples again and again and you'll get it in it's a little technical but any action that you want to check is it bid or not put it in this this is the test okay so let's continue so this is what a bid is a newly invented matter that did not exist at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam it could have happened nothing prevented him yet he did not do it bida is something done in order to attain closeness to Allah subhana t to get more you know for example but any other action that a person does like using cream prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam didn't use cream using a phone right basically the way our lives are these days this is not bad this is not innovation why because you're not saying it's religious to have an iPhone no don't get confused between ibada and what is ibada ibada is an action that a person does why to gain Allah subhah's love but remember that action in itself is permissible it is permissible which is why I believe that even when I'm cooking for my family with patience you know good food then that is also an act of worship why because I hope that Allah will reward me so that is ibada is different that you are inventing something you're saying that This is part of religion this is part of shar if you do this you'll get this this much reward if you don't do it such and such harm will happen you know recently a sister came up to me and she said that one of her friends she got married to someone and this person believes in the tomb of a particular saint because of him that I have whatever I have and it's because of him I suffer what I suffer so I have to ask him and I cannot do anything wrong because otherwise he'll be upset he fears him as though he fears Allah and the wife is wondering what should I do what should I do to fix him or to make him understand that look that person who is in the grave cannot do anything to you can't even help himself so how can he help you but when people make these things a part of religion that look this person in the grave he can harm you he can benefit you you know making it a part of religion that is a problem and from this remember that bidder is in two things it is in matters of as well as in it is when it comes to beliefs and also when it comes to actions and both are not right now a question was asked so what's the big deal and that is what people will say we love the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam we want to celebrate his birthday come on what's the harm we're just singing you know singing songs of praise we are reminding one another of him you know we're telling other people about how good he was so what's the harm's big deal it is a big deal and that we will learn about in chapter number 13 which is the of the contempt for innovation the harm form of innovation the adverse consequences of innovation the first thing that we must remember is that all innovations are misguidance remember the hadith that we learned earlier that is bala it is misguidance it is error so all innovations are misguidance you might feel that it's not a big deal but it will lead a person astray it will lead a person astray pcept number 70 that the division of innovations into good innovations and bad innovations is against the sunnah of the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam some people will say "Oh this is this is a good innovation this is a good thing." Meaning you know would rather sit together and reciteman 50 times and go watch football so it's a good thing you know I scared all the girls if you use salt carelessly then all the salt you'll have to pick up with your eyelashes on the day of judgment yes somebody told me that when I was a little girl and I got freaked out so this is what right this is innovation in belief so and a person might say "Oh this is a good innovation." You know it's it's stopping a person from doing something wrong right or it's making a person do something good something better but remember that every innovation whether you believe it's good or bad it is still bad why because it is an innovation amuslim we have read this hadith before and in this we read very clearly that every innovation is misguidance it's amazing that people will practice innovation why in order to come closer to Allah but the bid does the exact opposite thing it leads a person astray and every dala is where in the fire a person might be doing something to get to Jenna whereas in reality he's doing something to get to hellfire it's the exact opposite now there are people who say that hass you know this is something that is acceptable and it should be done and they actually have evidences to support that one evidence for example they say is that when he made the people pray together in the month of Ramadan prayer he said that this is good so they say look we can do bid too and we call it good bidar it's for a good reason but they misunderstand his statement when he said good bid he didn't mean as in the bid that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam condemned can you even think that would do something like that no it's not possible he meant the word bad in its literal sense okay that this is an good new practice this is a good new practice like you say oh this is new that's nice right we say that all the time this is the latest thing and this is the newest model right and we say that's good so when he said this is a good bid he didn't mean bid is an innovation in religion no he meant this is a good new practice that all the people were praying you know separately some people didn't even know how to read Quran because there's so many people embracing Islam every day others were not even able to do right others were becoming lazy so this is a good new trend that everyone is now praying together right in Jama another proof that people use is the hadith of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam which we learned very early on in this book that whoever introduces something good then he will have the reward of doing that good thing himself and also for all those people who follow him after that so they say look introduce something good so we're introducing good things in the deen but in that hadith again the sunnah what does it refer to refers to sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and inventing does not mean invent over there it means reviving and the context of the hadith should be remembered the context was that once a companion he was very poor the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam saw his poverty and he encouraged the rest of the people to give in charity so a man came and he gave something in the hand of that poor person and when other people saw they also got up and started bringing things in order to give to that poor individual so the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam smiled and he said this that whoever starts something good and all people who follow him right so he'll get the reward of doing good himself and also the rest of the people who follow him in that we have read this earlier as well remember this statement that Abdullahbar said that all innovations are misguidance even though even though the people may consider them to be good meaning even though the people may see it to be meaning whether people consider it to be good or bad it doesn't matter all innovations are misguidance you might say how why because the thing is that ber innovation like it was mentioned earlier as well it replaces the sunnah every time an innovation is introduced a sunnah is lost when people practice innovation they think they're doing something so good that because of that they will not do things that are approved by the Quran and Sunnah like a person will think look I read five Jews you know or how many suras you know they have a certain number of suras particular surasin and right so a number of suras a person might tell I read so much Quran every day so what if I don't wear hijab so what if I miss one salah do you see what I mean so it makes a person belittle the rest of the deen and it does not allow him to practice the rest of the deen because He thinks he is so pious he thinks he's doing something so good and the thing is that innovation most innovations are what difficult it is a difficult thing to do so when people are reciting a surah over and over and over again is their heart in it no do they have no are they enjoying that prayer no so will they have in the regular prayers no way will they have time to sit and recite and reflect on the Quran no will they have patience to stand in no because they say "Oh I've been you know my head is hurting i've been staring at those pages and passing my finger over those lines for 5 hours now i'm hurting i can't read the evening duas." So the question is that what if somebody tells you do something and you do it because they're apparently telling you something good and you don't know if it's an innovation or not so what should you do you should remember before doing anything that somebody says "Oh you should do this and this is the benefit." Always check what's the evidence what's the reference okay always ask always find out and it doesn't mean that you ask them in a challenging way ask in a curious way and also remember that the solution to ignorance is what gaining knowledge so alhamdulillah now that you're here studying the Quran as you will study the Quran many things will become clear to you then we learn that the curse of Allah is upon the person who helps an innovator if the curse of Allah is upon the one who helps an innovator then what about the innovator what about the innovator it is a big deal isn't it who narrated that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said Allah cursed the one who sacrificed for anyone else besides Allah meaning the person who offer sacrifice for other than Allah then the curse of Allah is upon him and Allah cursed the one who stole the signposts what does it mean by this what it means is that you know if there is a particular piece of land and it is divided and people have certain marks over there to distinguish between one person's lot from the other's lot and let's say there is a fence or there is you know a line that has been painted or something like that or bricks that have been put right to mark the boundary exactly the point of distinction so if a person moves that in order to make his lot bigger and the other's lot smaller then Allah's curse is on him he moves it so the others will think oh so their lot is bigger it comes up till here and Allah cursed the one who cursed his father the one who curses his father Allah curses that person in another hadith we learned the companions they were amazed that why would a person curse his own parents what did the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam say that a person curses the parents of another and so he curses his parents in revenge but these days it's amazing how people actually curse their own parents especially our young ones i don't want to say too young or too adult because they're somewhere in the middle they're actually adults teenagers right and beyond but it's amazing how they literally curse their own parents i hate my mom i wish you be you know away far away from me or little kids will say go away this is what cursing right curse means you know be far removed from the mercy so go away so the one who curses his parents Allah curses him and Allah curses the one who accommodates an innovator in religion the one who helps him supports him accommodates him then Allah curses that individual too and we learned that every act of innovation is rejected by Allah this is a big deal this is how it's a big deal that every act of innovation is something that is rejected by Allah that a person thinks he's doing something good he will actually be rewarded for it he will actually benefit from that good deed but in reality that effort that striving is going to bring him no benefit no reward it's a useless act it's in vain wasam narrated that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said whoever does an act which is not found in the religion then that deed is rejected by Allah it's rejected it's not accepted at all because what are the two conditions of deeds being valid pure intention and secondly according to the Quran and Sunnah so if something is not according to Quran and it's a newly invented thing then it's rejected inah Allah subhah says about those people who they think that they're doing very good they think that they're doing something great but in reality it will be rejected so imagine a person is putting in so much effort reading one surah after another you know a number of times reading one after the other so much money is sometimes spent into this so much time is dedicated to this I remember one of the sisters she mentioned about how once she went home from school and her mother said that you have to come sit with the rest of the ladies and you have to come and read a particular they could I don't know how many times she said all her evening went to that she said I was so tired my My head was hurting i felt almost sick and then I couldn't do my homework i couldn't do my work and I went back to school for a test or for some assignment that she wasn't able to submit so much hard work has gone into it and at the end of the day what reward do you get zero nothing at all this is a very big problem that innovation actually makes the deen more difficult and then when there are people who don't know the deen who are far from the deen when they see that this is the deen they say "Oh this is too difficult we're not doing it i can't sit there read Quran you know read this surah 50 times there's no way I can read this word or this a 100 times a thousand times." And you hear about strange numbers 50,000 100,000 200,000 really you hear about these numbers you know in the sunnah what do we learn maximum 100 subhan Allah 100 times then we learned that the repentance of an innovator is not accepted until he gives up the innovation even if a person says you know "Oh Allah forgive me i may be doing something wrong but please forgive me." No that TBA is not accepted he has to leave that innovation he has to completely abandon it then only will his tawa be accepted wasallam and Matic narrative that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said Allah does not accept the repentance of an innovator until he leaves the innovation he has to leave the innovation so that his tawa may be accepted and the thing is that the innovation actually prevents a person from repenting it so it's a vicious cycle a person is doing aarba that's not being accepted why because he's doing innovation and that innovation will not let a person repent from the innovation why because a person thinks he's doing good so will he ever leave it no he won't leave it to save oneself from falling into innovation is a command meaning it is imperative that we must save ourselves from falling into innovation we must guard ourselves against narrated that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said "Oh people save yourselves from innovations." Meaning stay away from them why why should a person stay away from them because it is what leads a person astray bid is what leads a person astray it leads a person to kufur it leads a person to greater wrongs ibn Sarin said the fastest people to leave religion are the people of innovation who the people of innovation meaning if someone was to come out of the deen who goes very fast who goes very quickly those who are already in Bidar because bid is a step to leaving Islam because if a person says "Oh I can also invent things in the religion i want to do this let me try it let's pray like this let's pray like that then the next step is what says in the Quran I'm not going to do it says in the Sunnah I'm not going to do it so what if it's in the Quran so what if it's in the Sunnah then a person begins to question the authority of the Quran and Sunnah even so leads to this is why the scholars call the people of the people of desires and also remember thatl how did he make Adam earn the anger of Allah subhah tala how how did he make him make a mistake he tempted him he said that you eat the fruit of the tree and you will become angels and when you will become angels you will worship Allah even better you'll become so perfect so obedient that Allah will never be upset with you do you see what I mean and this is exactly what BDAR is that you do this so that Allah will be even more happy with you you do this so that you can earn this much more reward and when a person does that he's actually going astray he's actually in the path of misguidance away from Jenna away from guidance and he is in such a cycle that he doesn't even come out of it this is why they said that shaitan likes bad more than sin why because people don't leave bad whereas they would leave sin on the day of judgment the innovators will not be allowed to drink water from the fountain of so is it a big deal it is on the day of judgment the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam will express extreme hatred for the people of innovation sallallam for who narrated that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said "I will be there before you at the at the at the pool of and whoever will come to it will drink from it." Meaning on the day of judgment the gathering of hash I will precede you i will go to the before you and I will wait there for you and whoever will come to it will drink from it and whoever will drink from it will never become thirsty after that whoever will drink from the will never become thirsty after that and there will come to me some people whom I will recognize and they will recognize me meaning I will recognize them to be people of my ummah and they will recognize me as the messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam and then a barrier will be set up between me and them meaning they will not be allowed to come to me i will say those people are from me meaning they're the people of my ummah but it will be said you do not know what changes and new things they invented after you you don't know how they changed their religion after you and what new things they invented in the deen after you then I will say far removed far removed those who changed their religion after me so what do we see over here that such people those who innovate will not be able to drink from the even on the day of judgment and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam will be extremely angry with them he will distance himself from them he will say take these people away from me and when that is the case yes he will not even intercede for them because if he's saying "Go away get away from me." You think he will intercede for them no way then we learn that the curse of Allah the angels and all of mankind is upon those who introduced innovations in the religion awesome narrative that I asked whether Allah's messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam had declared Medina as sacred that just as Makkah is sacred is Medina also sacred so he replied yes the area between so and so Meaning from this point to that point this entire area is haram just as Makkah is haram this area Medina from this point to this point is also haram and he said so its tree is not to be cut meaning just like the trees of Makkah meaning the trees that grow themselves the plants that grow themselves you don't cut them likewise those in Medina those that grow themselves you cannot cut them and he who made any innovation in it there is upon him the curse of Allah and that of the angels and all of mankind why why is it worse to innovate in Medina because mida is what opposite of sunnah and if people will see something being practiced in Medina what will they think it must be right it must be good so I'll do it too and this is what people say we saw you know Arabs do this people say this a lot right their hudja is what what Arabs do their hudja is what they saw people doing in Makkah and Medina that's their proof so if a person innovates something it is worse but if he innovates something in Medina it is even worse it is even worse this is the reason why the curse of Allah the curse of the angels and all the people is on him and we learn that the one who starts an innovation will not only bear the retribution of his own sin but also of all those people who act upon that innovation ahmed he stated that my grandfather related to my father and he related to me that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said whoever revives one sunnah from my sunnah and people act upon it then the person who revived my sunnah will be entitled to the reward of all the people who act upon it and the reward of the people will not be reduced at all and the person who starts an innovation and people start to act upon it the sins of all those who act upon it will be upon him who started the innovation and the sins of the people will not be reduced at all so innovating in their religion doesn't just bring a person the sin of what he has done but also the sin of all those people who have followed him narrated that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said the person who propagated guidance to others will receive the reward collectively of all the people who acted upon the guidance and their reward will not be decreased in any way similarly the person who called others to misguidance will receive the retribution collectively of all those who acted upon it and the retribution of the others will not be decreased at all so one is that a person follows a sunnah and passes on that sunnah great reward and the other is that a person practices a bidra and he spreads that bidra as well and that is great punishment in we'll conclude over here in this chapter basically we're learning about the adverse effects of innovation so I want you to list them make sure you know in point form that what are the negative consequences of ba subhan allah You are beyond [Music] alhamdulillah so we've completed our target for sunnah inshallah we will complete this subject next week are there any questions or comments on sunnah if not let's look at some duas for the heart inshallah um okay so what are we replying to okay any other questions i think all of these were mah answered by each of you alhamdulillah okay alhamdulillah so let's um how to recognize what uh if there's any bida that you're doing okay so anything that we do for reward right that we do for reward u make sure that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his companions did that for reward okay and if you don't find evidence of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam or the companions doing that then you know you need to check that is this something from the sunnah or not right so it's it's pretty simple right so if we want reward for something then it has to be according to the Quran in the sunnah right so that means there's either some evidence in the Quran or there's some evidence from a hadith that say that this you will get reward if you do this right so if there's no evidence that you will get reward if you do it then you know what's the guarantee that you're going to get reward for it right um many questions about Okay let's see if is it innovation if we do some zikur in numbers for example sayah before sleeping like 10 times no it's not an innovation If firstly do what is from the sunnah first right so go through um and do the zikur that is from the sunnah first right because that is going to get you reward and protection and all of that first then of course we always have time left over right then you can do whatever zikar you like and if you personally want to set a goal for yourself right that I'm going to say this zikar every day this many times that's fine for a personal goal now you're not going to share that goal with other people and say do this this many times um before sleeping does that make sense so personal goals that's fine you set like for um the example you've given here is I want to say 10 times before sleeping okay fine that's your personal goal you do it but don't tell other people before sleeping make sure you sayahillah 10 times okay does that make sense so first of course go through the sunnah there's like 30 duas to recite before sleeping if you do all of them subhan Allah um not kidding so you know first go through all of the sunnah once you've done all of that and you still have time alhamdulillah then you can do any personal iada you like um yes it is confusing subhan Allah um yeah so okay so you need to understand that culture culture and religion are two different things right so if something is in the culture like for example if you wear certain clothing in your culture or you eat certain types of food in your culture so that doesn't mean that's a vida right that all you're going to make sure is it's like I'm eating certain foods and it's from my culture is it halal are the ingredients halal as long as they're halal you're good okay this has nothing to do with your ibada right so ba is for things that people do for reward right so that's one thing and then there's another aspect to it which is to copy other religions right so if something is from a different religion then we're going to avoid it for example if somebody wants a Muslim wants to celebrate Christmas are we going to say that's okay no we're not right because that's taking from another religion right so if there's cultures and traditions that are from a different religion and they hold a religious u you know um ruling in them then we're not going to follow that okay u make sense i add extra ascar to my morning ascar each day that's fine you can add extracar but you will know that this is not from the morning ascar these are extracar I'm doing right so first of all again there's so many morning akars to do there's so many that need to be done in the hundreds so if you have uh time do all of those first and then when you have time you can do any vikar you like right you can do any vikar you like but again you're not going to tell people that you know after you do your mornings do this one this many times as well right so that is your own personal iada and that's fine no problem okay um instead of saying alhamdulillah after sneeze I say shuk shuk alhamdulillah uh yeah so say alhamdulillah right because um that is that those are the words that we have been taught from um the sunnah from even from the story of Adam right the first thing he said was alhamdulillah so is because when his soul was put into his body he sneezed right so let's follow that sunnah inshallah say alhamdulillah and then we can be grateful to Allah but the words we're going to say is alhamdulillah okay um this subject is making me think twice now about forwarding videos or lectures alhamdulillah excellent may Allah always keep us guided on the right even Jum Mubarak messages some say it's haram to do that while others say it's okay i think better not to since there is conflict yeah if there's something that is conflicting again check right check did the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam say Juma Mubarak did the companions say it because Juma was there at their time as well right so if we're saying it to thinking that it's a good thing I'm going to be rewarded then we need to check right did the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam say it did the companions say it right so we're not just going to um you know add things and make them um thinking that they're source of reward so how do we know if something is innovation if it's not in the Quran and the sunnah so it's innovation recite one of the name of Allah for a certain number not necessarily okay so if you are going through something or maybe you love a certain name of Allahhana tala and you personally would like to you know repeat it multiple times that's your personal you're not going to share it with anyone you're not going to promote it right but you personally for some reason find comfort in that you could do that right but first again make sure that you've done all of the sunnah duas there's so many that need to be done right make sure you've gotten all of those down you've completed all of those you have time alhamdulillah you're cooking you're cleaning you like to um you know repeat a certain zikur no problem right no problem um yeah so birthdays um okay when it comes to birthdays if someone celebrates them we're not going to say it's haram okay but if we don't celebrate them we're not going to go start celebrating either okay so avoid them if you can if you can't then um you know it's it's uh scholars say it's not an issue okay but yeah avoid them if you can um okay yes um baby shower bridal shower yeah so the reason why people say that is because you're not supposed to imitate um another religion now are baby showers and bridal showers from another religion not necessarily um again it is a waste of time it is a waste of money but we're not going to say it's haram okay so again if you don't participate don't start if you do participate then you know um you know make sure it's not consuming a lot of your time and energy um is it holding prayer at home with our friends and family abida um no why would we say that is aida right because uh what is aawi prayer it's salah right it's a salah so when it's enough salah there's a lot of flexibility so if you were to gather at home and pray that would be um okay inshallah right because we don't see that the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam established it every single night right so there is some flexibility there um that he establish it every single night in the masjid like but for example if someone was to say okay I'm going to hold Juma salah in my house right and there's a masjid 10 minutes away then that would be a problem right um because that is something that is not needs to be done in um it is far to be done in the masjid right together right so there's a difference between um some iat which is there we prayer versus like masid um what are some what are the negative concepts of uh bida first of all many uh bidat are very very expensive they take a lot of time energy um and then people think that they're doing it for reward people think that they're doing it um to make u Allah happy and the problem is that that's re that there's no evidence that that action has any reward at all right and so um you could just be wasting your time and money and uh resources energy in something that won't get um you anything can we do salawat a thousand at once it's up to you right uh once again you did you do your morning das did you do your evening duas did you do your duas before sleeping did you you know do the recitation of the Quran if you've done everything and you have time and you want to do a thousand in one sitting that's your personal IDA okay that's your personal you're not going to share it with anyone you're not going to tell anyone um to do it right that's your personal thing between you and um Allahh okay for that breakdown yeah so when you have questions about you know innovations what is innovation is it innovation or not you can check two websites uh islamqa.info okay islamqa.info and the second one is faith IQ okay uh faith iiq and islamqa.info info both of these are excellent resources if you have any doubt about anything just go uh you know search through them and inshallah you can find your answer believe me whatever question you're thinking of someone's already asked it so you're going to find the answer there um okay also you don't believe that doing that vikar for that specific time will give you some special um so the reward is there for specific vikar right for like for example if someone is to recite the durude right then um if you recite the durud if you send salawat on the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam uh once right then subhan allah 10 good deeds are written 10 bad deeds are erased and your rank banks erased 10 times right so now knowing this if someone says you know what I want to make more vigor I want to send salawat on the prophet sallallaihi wasallam more I want to send on more uh knowing that these are the benefits then we're going to say alhamdulillah right that you know go for it right makes sense and then um to say like subhan Allah I think it's on our break slide if you say subhan allah a hundred times you get a thousand deeds good deeds right So you know um there are uh benefits so you know the best thing is to check which zikar has which reward and you know go for that um if I say 10 times before sleeping is it okay for me to teach my child to do that too only if you find um evidence there's a hadith that tells you before sleeping recite laahillah 10 times then yes teach it to your child if not I wouldn't teach it to my child I would teach them what is in the sunnah right and then I would teach them that the benefit of sayingahillah is um actually very great right um that there are um see the hadith is slipping my mind but something about um if we sayahillah it will take care of a future problem that could come up right so then you would teach the benefit of sayingahillah and then that child will inshallah grow up knowing those benefits and we'll say it on their own uh in whatever amount of um you know number of times they want in whichever place they want time they want right so don't teach um children or anyone else something that you don't have specific you know evidence for right when you teach someone something make sure there's evidence for it when you practice something make sure that you have evidence for your practice um how about calling the name of Allah that's related to your prayer um so it doesn't have to be three times right you can name you can call on the name of Allahh as much as you want let's say someone is ill and someone wants to call on Ashafi right allahh is name of uh the healer right so you can say ashafi heal me yashi heal me um your yafi heal so and so yashi yashi you know that's fine but know what's the meaning of the name you know what is the dua attached to it and then you can say it as many times as you like don't make a specific number um the Christians brought in new innovations making their prophet the son of God this would be an example innovations by the people um yeah I guess you would say it's an innovation it's actually shik um so it's a little bit greater than just innovation um I think people mix culture and religion um yes you do uh people do mix it and again nothing wrong with culture as long as what is being done is halal what is being eaten is halal um you know so we have to just check what's in my culture nothing wrong with culture right um just make sure that it is confirming to what is considered halal um is Thanksgiving American tradition or religious celebration it's an American tradition doesn't have anything to do with religion um yeah so these knots um check the meaning of them if you check the meaning of them you'll that they don't have they don't hold proper meanings they actually raise the level of the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam over Allah subhana tala and that is the same as isam um what the Christians do isam right so we have to make sure um that we what we are reciting saying you know there's a lot of Islamic nashe out there there's a lot of duas out there right that we can um inshallah actually get reward for this these things that are being sung in different you know uh gatherings what's the reward for it what's the evidence that this there is a reward for that right so people do it uh some people you know they get caught up in just these innovative uh gatherings and then they don't follow Islam properly right so for them their religion becomes you know going to that innovation gathering going to that innovation gathering and then that's that that's their dean right but unfortunately there's no evidence that there's reward for those gatherings what about wearing white when um getting married again um as long as um you know it's not tied to some religion and then it's okay right so I don't know um you'll have to look it up and you know you can even search online you know why do people wear white at weddings and it'll tell you right what where did this originate from is this some kind of a satanic practice or something right um if not then all good um lighting the house on Eid not necessarily it's not a vida because we are supposed to celebrate Eid but just make sure that you know your house doesn't look like um that's like Christmas or something right so use different designs and things like that to um to decorate inshallah okay so yes we're told to celebrate Eid so we want to celebrate Eid and if the culture we live in uses lights that's fine you will celebrate Eid you can decorate your house just make sure that you know the design is different it's not a a design that uh that you know mimics Christmas for example what if somebody recently moved under celebrate prophets where should a girl do in this situation relationship is very sensitive in the beginning of um marriage yeah so u you'll have to you know tread that wisely um sister Tamia gave different um examples in the suna lectures that we've been listening to especially I think yesterday's lecture how her um her and her family how they you know um handled those situations how they attended what they didn't participate in so I would encourage you to relisten to the um lectures especially yesterday's I think and then the perhaps the class before break as well so listen to those lectures and see how sister Tamia explained how she handled these things right um yeah so birthday party again if it's something you already celebrate you know um we're not going to say it's haram but if you don't celebrate it don't start okay um Okay uh what about when someone dies the family slaughter cow seven days to do sacrifice yeah so that's a very good example so did the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam do that right did people pass away when the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam was alive did people pass away when the companions were alive yes they did did they slaughter a cow now slaughtering a cow is very expensive right so our dean is very very practical right even when we are giving zaka it's 2.5% only if you have savings and only if you have a certain amount of savings right so our dean doesn't burden us with things now a very expensive iada is Hajj now everyone is not required to go on Hajj right only those who can afford it and have the means of like health and um subhan Allah other things only they will go for Hajj right um so you know slaughtering a cow people die all the time may Allah only call us when he's pleased with us but people die all the time how is everyone going to afford to slaughter a cow on the seventh day right it doesn't make sense so yes it is an innovation right um yes again when you're gathering people together to read the Quran again it's it's a difficulty it's a difficulty for the one hosting it it's a difficulty for the people going for it right so we need to take a look at that okay so class time is up um uh so inshallah we will conclude here yeah uh Faith IQ faith IQ was the second um was the second website yes i think everyone is good here okay um if someone tells you to recite a name of Allah a specific number of times to rectify one's affairs uh saying example yeah so experience matters as well right but again you don't have to follow that number right you need to listen to a lecture or read about the name Yali find out what it actually means and then you can inshallah say it as many times as you like okay don't um get caught up in those numbers does that make sense okay perfect okay so um recordings are up in a few hours um so check back in about five or six hours inshallah okay so I'm going to conclude here and then if there's any questions we can take them inshallah okay because I don't want to keep the people who have to go okay so and alhamdulillah it was great to spend our week um together again alhamdulillah after a long break so inshallah may Allah keep everyone under his protection and we meet again in the best state of Ian and health inshallah uh next week okay so if there's more questions I will take them but first let's conclude class so those who need to go can inshallah mark their attendance as welcome okay so okay so if you still have questions um I ask you to inshallah type it up again so that I can um see it okay um continuation for the Q&A for example I'm used to say uh Okay I think we did that one in the app you say it a 100 times after starting with after okay um where can I find which dicker has what reward um we have a lot of dua cards um you can also um check um different a hadith as well so if you if there's a dua that specifically that you like just put that dua into Google and write the word hadith then you'll find the hadith that goes along with that dua and you can see what was said about that dua okay and also there's a dua card as well um yes the dua cards are excellent they have already done all the homework for you yeah so let me post the duas for the heart in the telegram channel inshallah okay just for that reminder yeah so um again avoid celebrating things that are controversial um there isn't any great you know history behind Thanksgiving but it is not a religious um it is not uh has nothing to do with Dean but um when we look at the history behind it it's not the greatest so avoid it if you can okay perfect for sharing the links uh yeah so again we're not saying birthdays are haram okay we're not saying they're haram right um if you do celebrate it in some way fashion or form u you know keep it to a minimum and if you don't celebrate then don't start yes um I'm uh you aren't able to show join telegram which country are you in yes although the apps give you resources as well i'm about to order word to word English translated new print individual just from underline books i just want to be sure these are their newest revision of the just there's no published date details um are you um are you getting the printed if it's the printed ones just one to five are updated after just five they are not updated yet would be beneficial to have it sample quiz so ita is going to be an open book quiz so you can you know go back um and you know check your notes if you need to listen to some portion of the lecture you can and you'll have multiple days to finish it as well uh so it'll be open for uh two weeks time so you know you can answer a couple of questions close it don't submit it you can uh just close the quiz it'll save your answers you can come back and complete it later as well right so it's um it's very flexible okay i learned we can't just keep repeating one of Allah's name without asking what you want with it okay so um we need some evidence for that that we can't do that right so what's the evidence that we can't can't do that because we have an evidence that we can do that um we find that the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam on the day of um was repeating um repeatedly so um we have evidence that you can so now if someone is saying you can't then they need to provide evidence so um then inshallah if that is correct then we will change our um opinion and our ways uh I didn't get help from the bookstore but still trying purchase PDFs but downloads not available to me and it says one try left okay are um did you click on it to download are you using a laptop or a desktop um don't yeah so again if a non-Muslim is celebrating something and it is tied to a religious um you know background then we're not going to celebrate that okay yeah so Arin if you're in Pakistan then you need to download a VPN okay download a VPN and then um you'll be able to join Telegram okay how long will we have till attempting the quiz you'll have a couple of weeks um I haven't put it up yet so inshallah it will be announced but you'll have at least two weeks um for the sunnah quiz the translation quiz will be just like the um the quiz that was uh the practice quiz right timed for 1 hour okay if you're trying to buy printed Yeah so if you're trying to buy printed just make sure you don't purchase passages for actually um just wait for the rest of them to be updated before you get them if you do get them it'll it's not that it's going to be a major issue it's just that you're going to have to make some corrections right so what you'll have to do is you'll you'll open your J and you'll see you know the J on the screen and just make any corrections um you know so that you have the correct translation so it's not a huge issue if you have a different version but it's just a little bit of extra work uh okay i'm a new student i think the link that was sent to me for my login credentials is not working i sent a text on that's how you got into today's class okay um so how about we share the link with you so you can reset your password okay so um Zam I'm just going to share a link are you able to see your questions i'm just going to share a link right under it okay so here is the link to reset your password i'm just going to um paste it here okay um desktop so when you clicked on the desktop uh Susan what happened it it didn't download immediately usually it just downloads immediately okay try this link um Zamshah okay you're traveling alhamdulillah so um can I can you catch up with the classes later um can you do your classes while you're traveling we're online you can take us with you wherever you go okay perfect um okay it didn't download [Music] okay um I'm really sorry but Susan you're going to have to ask the bookstore i don't really know too much about the link maybe it's expired i don't know okay so when you're going for U Omrah then mashallah the flights are usually really long you have quite a few hours you can easily get through a class um downloaded ahead of time and then when you're um home then you're home right so inshallah you can take out time for class usually um if you're in a different part of the world then you can even um you know the timings are completely different they're usually not uh the time that's going to be uh you know difficult for people um in the sense that you know it's early morning or later at night um so you can catch the class no issues you can also use the recordings during the week um and um inshallah catch it you know we had students who went for Hajj and they were in class from Mecca subhan Allah they were in class from Mecca they did their groups from the airport so if you know it's it's up to each person where there's a will there's a way right so you can decide um how you would like to um you know proceed right if it piles up it's hard to make up um uh you the Heroes of Islam book let me find That Okay sorry i think my mic was off yes sorry okay so I've been talking but anyway I don't know when it got turned off but anyway alhamdulillah okay so you got the correct Heroes of Islam book alhamdulillah i see um okay sorry about that okay so I'm just if are there any other questions or should we um conclude which edition is the one that comes to the Europe publication i have um for the heroes of Islam book it doesn't say what year it is as long as the cover matches and the uh and the her uh the author matches you're good oh the jaws uh no the 2021 hold on i believe they should say 2020 three onwards for the latest yeah I think it's 2023 onwards on their latest ones i'm not sure about 2021 hold on let me check my just one second um yeah quiz we haven't completed the subject right we still have one more um lecture for that right so that's why it's not there let's see if I can find the just okay um 2021 one might be okay um so the one have you already purchased it or you haven't purchased it yet so the one we are using it says 2020 the PDF it has the year 2020 so I'm guessing yours is correct 2021 would be correct hard copy of the books yes you can suggest to the bookstore i think that's an amazing um suggestion yeah so the uh the PDF says 2020 so perhaps 2021 will be correct um as far as I know Jews one to four are updated okay um five may or may not be updated for the printages but six onwards for sure are not updated okay so I mean we're only on juice one right now so hopefully inshallah as we um move forward okay yes so you should be okay if you purchase a hard copy of just one uh two three and four and possibly even five but first six onwards is not up to just six states new print okay okay that's helpful okay alhamdulillah that's good to know okay so then Jews 1 to five are okay inshallah yes so we've alhamdulillah completed half of Jews one so it'll still take some time right to get to inshallah to six so hopefully uh it's corrected by then okay perfect okay any other questions i need to order in bulk because the shipping for each order is almost the same as the book cost subhan Allah um are you which country are you in Haj are you ordering from the closest country oh you're in the US okay then yes you are okay so subhan Allah may Allah accept it as on for learning his dean and inshallah for then the money comes back right so may Allah return it in the best way in this world and in hereafter inshallah if I order one jew it costs 11 but for like eight books it's 22 okay yeah um that's because I think they mail it express delivery for you um yeah so if you order one only one goes in the box but if you order more then they can use a bigger box and put more in so yeah that's okay possibly okay may Allahh yeah shipping and handling is not cheap and may Allahh accept it okay so let's inshallah conclude if there are any other questions we can take them if not let's insham um conclude here and see everyone next week okay okay everyone um alhamdulillah it was really nice spending the week with you all and inshallah we meet again in the best state of iman and health may Allah give a lot of baraka and everyone's time and skills and see you all next Tuesday okay allahbarb Allahbar Allahbar Allah [Music] Allah Allah abandon
