Mayo Clinic's Mission and Values

The secret to Mayo Clinic, if there is a secret, is the collection of people that come together for the same mission. You get to work with the best talent in the world. Knowing that the person to my right or my person to my left are all in the same mission makes me feel comfortable knowing that we can really do this together. Doesn't matter what religion, what background, black, white, Hmong, Asian, anything, you are welcome here with open arms. And I think in seeing more diverse employees, the diverse patients also feel a sense of belonging, that this is my care team. I want to come here to Mayo Clinic because I know they understand me. My work is better because of the people around me. My work is better and more fulfilling because of the patients who come here. My work is better because all of us are better. Our motto of the needs of the patient come first. It's what we truly believe. And it's not just written in print. It's not just on a paper writing for us to read, but I live it every single day. It's not about what I do. It's about what we can do for others. We have these rich ties is really what it is. Respect, integrity, compassion, healing, teamwork. And to be able to do all of those things and have our patients be the center of what we do each and every day was something that I knew that I had to be a part of. I have the opportunity to practice in my subspecialty at literally the highest level and every day I come to work I feel pretty lucky that I have that opportunity. No matter where you come from we are all trying to advance human knowledge and patient care. It makes me feel that the future is better and that I can be something that I would not have ever dreamed to be. The feeling I get when I'm driving home. is that I've done something that directly affects the experience of our patients here at Mayo Clinic in a positive way. I've got friends worldwide that are asking me, you are really at Mayo Clinic? Yes, I am. Happy. Please come. This place is a difference maker, and we need to have more places like this. So I'm here to stay.
