[Applause] [Music] Salaam hello my name is Abdullah Halsey and I will go over the daddy alphabet in this lesson or a left boy daddy daddy is one of the official languages of the country Afghanistan which is located in South Central Asia the language uses the Arabic alphabet with some small modifications they are 33 letters in the modern daddy alphabet and in this lesson we will go over each letter the first letter of the daddy alphabet is a left not or simply aw it makes a sound o as in AB water it's the same sound as the a in fall alright moving on the next letter in the daddy alphabet is Aleph I left as in ASP the word for horse and daddy it makes the same sound as the a and Apple it is a very short vowel a left Apple alright now let's go over the third letter of the daddy alphabet which is simply BAE BAE it makes the word bag in the dari language which is the word for leaf in English it's the same sound as the be in boy again BAE well if you're expecting a C sound unfortunately in the daddy language the next letter after BAE is more of a P sounds so it's pay pay pay as in Pasha mosquito those pesky things everybody hates that gets sucks their blood so in daddy it's Pasha for mosquito it makes the same sound as the P in pan so pay okay so after pay comes the letter teh teh it makes the same sound as the English T and the word teach teh teh as in taupe ball again teh okay following the letter teh now we have say say makes the same sound as the letter s in english so s as in sat say say so say as in the daddy words semadar meaning fruit again say okay the next letter now is Jean Jean so it's makes the same sound as the je ne English word jeans again Jean Jean the daddy word would be jabe meaning pocket again the letter and daddy is Jean Jean okay so after Jean now comes che che which looks very similar to Jean but except it has two extra dots che now there's no single English letter that's equivalent to it however in English if you put the C and D H together and such words us chat it would make the same sound so che che word and Daddy would be chat three meaning umbrella so che all right so after Jay comes hey more technically known as hey ho T it's also called hey halwa and you'll see later why is a secondary or third name for this letter later on when we go over the other letters in the alphabet you'll see there's another letter that makes a very similar sound or they're actually the same sound so again this says hey hey equivalent to like in English when you say hey come over here so the same sound pretty much hey ot makes the same sound as the H and hat and daddy word would be Hal Xun meaning snail so again hey hey okay so the next letter is a K there is no English equivalent for their sound but I guess the closest I can think of is the CH sound that's in made in the scots language of law also german if you are familiar with that like the city / Cohen so it's a sound that comes from the back of the throat so hey hey okay as in the word had for donkey and the daddy language again okay it comes from the back of the throat and in English it's usually the one is for transliteration it's usually put as a K in an H but the sound it makes is quite different it makes the sound as in okay okay okay so the sound this letter makes should be a lot easier for English speakers to pronounce the letter is dal makes the same sound as the D and the English word of dad again doll doll daddy word for you guys is that act that act meaning tree again doll okay so after doll comes all which is you know as you can see all it is is just an extra dot on the doll to make the letter is all it makes the same sound as the Z and the English words ooh so as all a daddy word would be Zetas bean meaning magnifying glass so again Saul after Saul we have the letter Ray Ray makes the same sound as TR in the English word ray again Ray Ray Ray for the dari word for this beautiful animal over here Ruba meaning fox again ray okay so after ray we put a little dot on Ray and we create the letter Zay Zay makes the same sound as the Z in a zoo so a dari word would be Zen for woman okay after Zay we have Jay makes the same sound as the s and the English word measure Jay Jay as in Jolla which is the daddy word for Hale after Jay we have seen seen makes the same sound as the s in the English word saw seen seen as in the daddy word for save meaning Apple scene after scene we get Xin Xin there's no single letter equivalent in the English language however in English when you put the s and H together in such words as show makes the same sound so Xin Xin makes the sha sha sound as in the daddy word for shutter meaning camel after Xin we have Sode Sode and a colloquial daddy it's actually called SWAT but all you need to know for now it that it makes the as sound in the English word soap so again Sode Sode equivalent daddy word would be saw boon meaning soap okay after Saad we have Saad Saad and also similar to Assad in colloquial dari it has a slightly different name it's called SWAT but again all you need to know it makes the Z sound as in the English word zero an equivalent daddy would would be zo fat meaning banquet so again Zod okay the next letter is TOI TOI makes the same sound as the T in the English word tall an equivalent daddy word would be to law meaning gold again TOI TOI okay so we put a dot on toy and create the letter soy soy which is the next letter of the alphabet it makes the same sound as the Z in the English word zone again soy soy daddy would would be is ADIF meaning dish again Zoe all right the next letter is eine ein ein it's it's a glottal stop there is no unfortunately there's no English equivalent so you'll just have to try to listen to exactly how I say it it's eine ein it's like a glottal stop I guess the closest thing that I can think of is folks who have the cockney dialogue dialect in in England if they were to pronounce the word for bottle they would say ba o so again it's like a stop a glottal stop equivalent daddy would would be I neck I neck meaning glasses okay for those keeping track you'll know that now we're up to the 23rd letter of the daddy alphabet and we come to line a line of line unfortunately again there's no English equivalent for this sound but it does make the same sound as the French are in Paris if you were to pronounce it in French so it would be basically putting your tongue the tip of your tongue against the bottom of your the bottom rows of your teeth so it'd be so it would be like a V V so lying line line equivalent again would be like the French are in poly poly line line again you gotta have try to for those that are not familiar with French you got to try to listen in to how I'm saying it it's from the back of the throat and it's a you know daddy would would be a whole bar meaning fog okay so this letter is actually easy to pronounce it's simply just phae-phae makes the same sound as the f and foot again Faye Faye daddy would would be feel meaning elephant Faye Faye okay so after Faye we have COFF COFF which is a very guttural sound unfortunately there is no English equivalent so you'll have to listen in I know in transliteration they tend to use the Q to represent the sound but it's not doesn't make the Q sound it's more guttural it comes from the gut in the back of the throat and you would just basically would say whof whof as in my last name palsy or the daddy word for scissors Chi Chi again COFF COFF again a very guttural sound it's not found in the English language and again it's not like the K or the Q it's more guttural poff cough as in Chi Chi alright now we come to the letter Koff which is actually found in the sound that it makes is found in the English language makes the same sound as the ke and keep COFF COFF daddy would would be kitab meaning book good news is every other sound after this is found in the english language so it should be easier to pronounce so again cough okay now we have simply wow wow makes the same sound as the W in the English word well Wow Wow daddy word would be radish meaning sport again Wow okay we're coming close to the end we're at the second to the last letter of the alphabet and now we have hey get back nikka DAC is added to differentiate from the ninth letter of the Dead alphabet which we discussed earlier hey ho t or hey halwa makes the same exact sound hey sound an English equivalent would be like the H in the word hat daddy word I'll give you is Ho not meaning art so again hey hey alright now we come to the last letter of the daddy alphabet
