[Applause] math 6 quarter 1 week five milk base let's learn about multiplication of numbers with two decimal place factors lesson one hello kids it's me teacher FR don't forget to subscribe like and share and hit the notification Bell for the latest video you can also follow my Facebook page Teacher frel [Music] TV for today's lesson in math 6 we will discuss about multiplication of numbers with two decimal place factors we are now in lesson one of week five for most essential learning competencies multiplies decimals and mix decimals with factors up to two decimal places after going through this module you are expected to multiply decimals and mix decimals up to two decimal places in multiplying a decimals by another decimal you can multiply them as if they are whole numbers in placing the decimal point in the product get the sum of the number of decimal places in each factor for example sopia spent 5800 hours sewing an apron and 300 times as much to put the finishing touches on it how long did it take her to do the finishing touches step one multiply by The Hundreds the first factor is 5800 multip by the second Factor * 300s the first Factor will be multiply by the hundreds of the second factor which is three as you can see the two factors has two decimal places ignore the decimal points and multiply as if they are whole numbers 8 * 3 = 24 carry up 2 5 * 3 = 15 + 2 = 7 17 and 0 * 3 = 0 step two multiply by the 10 the 10 in the second factor is 0 8 * 0 = 0 5 * 0 = 0 and 0 * 0 = [Music] 0 step three multiply by the ones the ones in the second factor is zero 8 * 0 = 0 5 * 0 = 0 and 0 * 0 = 0 and then step four add the partial products so let's add bring down four 7 + 0 = 7 1 + 0 + 0 = 1 0 + 0 = 0 and bring down zero we will place the decimal point in the product based on the total number of decimal places in the factors in the first factor which is called multiplicand there are two decimal places in the second factor which is called multiplier there are also two decimal places so how many decimal places are there in the factors 2 + 2 = 4 the number of decimal places in the product is the same as that in the decimal Factor let's count 1 1 2 3 4 then place the decimal point so there are now four decimal places in the product it took sopia 174 10,000 hour to do the finishing touches on the apron and now let us do our first activity Learning task one put the decimal point in the correct Place add zero if needed write your answer in your note notebook so for number one we will put the decimal point in the product first look at the total number of decimal places in the factors so how many decimal places are there in the first Factor there are two decimal places in the second Factor there are two decimal places so 2 + 2 = 4 in the product count the number of decimal places from the right so the answer is three and 1,160 10,000s number two place the correct decimal point in the product total the number of decimal places in the factors there are four decimal places in the factors count the number of decimal places from the right so therefore the answer is 13 and 1,242 10,000 number three what is the correct Des decimal point in the product look at the factors count the number of decimal places from the right so therefore the answer is 3 and 5,568 10,000s number four what is the correct decimal point in the product there are four decimal places in the factors so therefore the answer is 4,000 10,000s and number five what is the correct decimal point in the product there are four decimal places in the factors therefore the answer is 3 and 8,674 10,000s to multiply decimals first ignore the decimal points and multiply as if they are whole numbers second place the decimal point in the product based on the total number of decimal places in the factors third in multiplying a decimal by a whole number the number of decimal places in the product is the same as that in the decimal Factor note count the number of decimal places from the right next let's do learning task two find the product write your answer in your notebook number one 3 and 5300 * 1 and 2500s first multiply the first Factor by the hundreds of the second factor which is 5 3 * 5 = 15 carry up 1 5 * 5 = 25 + 1 = 26 carry up 2 5 * 3 = 15 + 2 = 17 next multiply by the 10 which is 2 3 * 2 = = 6 5 * 2 = 10 carry up 1 2 * 3 = 6 + 1 = 7 and then multiply by the ones which is 1 3 * 1 = 3 5 * 1 = 5 3 * 1 = 3 then add the partial products bring down 5 6 + 6 = 12 carry up 1 1 + 7 + 6 0 + 3 = 11 carry up 1 1 + 1 + 7 + 5 = 14 carry up 1 1 + 3 = 4 now to place the decimal point in the product we have to get the sum of the decimal places in each factors so there are four decimal places count the decimal places of the product from the right so the answer is 4 and 4,125 10,000s number two 2 and 3200s * 2 and 3100s multiply by the hundreds 2 * 1 = 2 3 * 1 = 3 2 * 1 = 2 multiply by the 10 2 * 3 = 6 3 * 3 = 9 2 * 3 = 6 and then multiply by the ones 2 * 2 = 4 3 * 2 = 6 2 * 2 = 4 then add the partial products bring down 2 3 + 6 = 9 2 + 99 + 4 = 15 carry up 1 1 + 6 + 6 = 13 carry up 1 1 + 4 = 5 then get the sum of the number of decimal places in each factor there are four decim places in the factors place the decimal point in the product the answer is 5 and 3,592 10,000 number three 2 and 4200 * 1 and 56 hundreds multiply by the hundreds 2 * 6 = 12 carry up 1 4 * 6 = 24 + 1 = 25 carry up 2 2 * 6 = 12 + 2 = 14 multiply by the 10 2 * 5 = 10 carry up 1 4 * 5 = 20 + 1 = 21 carry up 2 5 * 2 = 10 + 2 = 12 then multiply by the ones 2 * 1 = 2 4 * 1 = 4 2 * 1 = 2 then add the partial products bring down 2 5 + 0 Row = 5 4 + 1 + 2 = 7 1 + 2 + 4 = 7 and 1 + 2 = 3 then get the sum of the number of decimal places in each factors so there are four decimal places in the factors place the decimal point in the product so the answer is 3 and 7,752 10,000 number four 8500 * 5400s multiply first by the hundreds 5 * 4 = 20 carry up 2 8 * 4 = 32 + 2 = 34 carry Up 3 0 * 4 = 0 + 3 = 3 multiply by the 10 5 * 5 = 25 carry up 2 8 * 5 = 40 + 2 = 42 carry up 4 5 * 0 = 0 + 4 = 4 then multiply by the ones which is 0 5 * 0 = 0 8 * 0 = 0 0 * 0 = 0 then add the partial products bring down Zero 4 + 5 = 9 3 + 2 + 0 = 5 4 + 0 = 4 then bring down zero then get the sum of the numbers of decimal places in each factors there are four decimal places in the factors then place the decimal point in the product the answer is 4,590 10,000s number five 1500s * 5500s first multiply by the hundreds 5 * 5 = 25 carry up to 2 1 * 5 = 5 + 2 = 7 0 + 5 = 0 next multiply by the 10 5 * 5 = 25 carry up 2 1 * 5 = 5 + 2 = 7 5 * 0 = 0 then multiply by the ones which is 0 5 * 0 = 0 1 * 0 = 0 0 * 0 = 0 then add the partial products bring down five 7 + 5 = 12 carry up 1 1 + 0 + 7 + 0 = 8 0 + 0 = 0 bring down 0 then get the sum of the number of decimal places in each factor there are four decimal places in the factors put the decimal point in the product the answer is 825 10,00 thousands learning test three find the product write your answer in your notebook number one 3 and 2500 * 8 multiply 5 * 8 = 40 carry up 4 2 * 8 = 16 + 4 = 20 carry up 2 3 * 8 = 24 + 2 = 26 there are two decimal places in the factor place the decimal point Two Steps From the right the answer is 26 number two 3 and 7100 * 9 1 * 9 = 9 7 * 9 = 63 carry up 6 3 * 9 = 27 + 6 = 33 there are two decimal places in the factor place the decimal point in the product so the answer is 33 and 3900s number three 4 * 13 0 * 3 = 0 0 * 3 = 0 4 * 3 = 12 0 * 1 = 0 0 * 1 = 0 4 * 1 = four then add the partial products bring down zero 0 + 0 = 0 2 + 0 = 2 1 + 4 = 5 then there are two decimal places in the factor put the decimal point in the product so the answer is 52 number four 8 and 300s * 25 first multiply by the ones 0 * 5 = 0 3 * 5 = 15 carry up 1 8 * 5 = 40 + 1 = 41 then multiply by the 10 0 * 2 = 0 3 * 2 = 6 8 * 2 = 16 then add the partial products bring down 0er 5 + 0 = 5 1 + 6 = 7 4 + 6 = 10 carry up 1 1 + 1 = 2 there are two decimal places in the factor place the decimal point in the product so the answer is 207 and 1500 and number five 3 and 2400 * 36 first multiply by the ones 4 * 6 = 24 carry up 2 2 * 6 = 12 + 2 = 14 carry up 1 3 * 6 = 18 + 1 = 19 then multiply by the 10 4 * 3 = 12 carry up 1 2 * 3 = 6 + 1 = 7 3 * 3 = 9 then add the partial products bring down 4 4 + 2 = 6 9 + 7 = 16 carry up 1 1 + 1 + 9 = 11 there are two decimal places in the factor place the decimal point in the product so the answer is 116 and 6400s for learning task for letter a answer the following number one how many decimal places is the product of 345,000 and 610 multiply 345,000 * 61 first multiply by the 10 5 * 6 = 30 carry Up 3 4 * 6 = 24 + 3 = 27 carry up 2 3 * 6 = 18 + 2 = 20 then multiply by the ones which is zero 5 * 0 = 0 4 * 0 = 0 3 * 0 = 0 and 0 * 0 equal 0 then add the partial products bring down Zero 7 7 + 0 = 7 0 + 0 = 0 2 + 0 = 2 then bring down 0 then get the sum of the decimal places in each factor in the first Factor there are three decimal places in the second Factor there is only one decimal place 3 + 1 = 4 then place the decimal point in the product four steps from the right 1 2 3 four so there are four decimal places in the product the answer is four decimal places number two the product of two decimal numbers is 20 and 62,000 one of the factors has two decimal places how many decimal places has the other Factor so there are two decimal places in each factor the product is 20 and 62,000 consider the first Factor has two decimal places in the product there are three decimal places so that means the second Factor has only one decimal place so 2 + 1 = 3 so in the product there are three decimal places the answer is the other Factor has only one decimal place for learning task for letter B solve the given problems write your answer in your notebook number one a beach house rents for 1,550 pesos 50 centavos a day how much will Mr Sebastian pay if his family stays for 5 days multiply 1,550 pesos 50 centavos Time 5 days 0 * 5 = 0 5 * 5 = 25 carry up 2 0 * 5 = 0 + 2 = 2 5 * 5 = 25 carry up 2 5 * 5 = 25 + 2 = 27 carry up 2 1 * 5 = 5 + 2 = 7 there are two decimal places in the factor place the decimal point in the product Two Steps From the right the answer is 7,752 pesos 50 centavos Mr Sebastian will pay 7,752 p50 centavos for 5 days stays number two a jeweler had 6500 g of gold he used 600s of this for a pair of earrings how much gold did he use if he made three pairs of earrings first multiply 6500 * 600 5 * 6 = 30 carry Up 3 6 * 6 = 36 + 3 = 39 carry Up 3 6 * 0 = 0 + 3 = 3 next 6500 * 0 = Zer and then for the ones 6500 * 0 equal Z then add the partial products bring down 0 9 + 0 = 9 3 + 0 + 0 = 3 0 + 0 = 0 then bring down 0 then get the sum of the decimal places in each factor there are four decimal places in the factors place the decimal point in the product count four steps from the right then multiply 391,000 by 3 0 * 3 = 0 9 * 3 = 27 carry up 2 3 3 * 3 = 9 + 2 = 11 carry up 1 0 * 3 = 0 + 1 = 1 then 0 * 3 = 0 there are four decimal places in the factor place the decimal point in the product so that means the answer is 117 G if he made three pairs of earrings so kids do you understand our lesson for today wow good job kids I hope you learn a lot from this lesson until our next topic bye-bye kids thanks for
