Stream Optimization Tips

I think you deserve some quick wins after this video you're going to walk away knowing how to protect your stream from disconnections your chat from trolls Bots and ass hats how to use clips to connect better with your viewers offline and how to make your collaborations 100 times better for your viewers and the best part all of this is going to be free let's not waste time first quick win you know how sometimes your Internet isn't perfect and has these little stutters and dropouts well when that happens twitch sometimes kicks the stream offline and you need to kick it back online which splits the vods and is just a bad user experience but there is a solution if you can't solve the internet issues which let's be real you can't always you can at least stop being kicked off twitch entirely with disconnect protection head to your stream dashboard settings stream and turn on disconnect protection now when you stutter cut out or drop out you've got 90 seconds to reconnect and the users will see a little screen that helps them know hey you're coming back just give us a second and bonus right underneath this setting is latency mode which changes the delay between you and what your viewers see if your internet can hand it low latency mode makes responding to chat much faster more interactive and it's great for Community engagement what's not great for Community engagement however are trolls racist people named Jim anyone who uses kick anyone born after 2015 Twitter users and while you can't stop a lot of those people there are things you can do to make your chat a better place for your community specifically twitch Auto mod and shield mode head to your stream dashboard head to settings and click moderation here you are going to find a massive set of tools to protect your stream your chat and your community I did an entire video on this and I will link it in the top of the description but a few highlights specifically you should block all hyper links right here on screen now turning this on will mean that scammers can no longer spam links to sell you graphic design fake viewers fake followers and also just stop those viewers of yours linking the same KSI song over and over asking you to react and at the top of this section Auto mod helps you by letting you change the strength of protection and even the category of protection so if you're okay with swearing you can leave that LAX or low but make sure you raise slurs aggression racial comments and more to be far stricter my favorite part of this tool though is the channel privilege setting you can set a series of rules about who can follow or even chat in your stream from account age email verification phone verification and all of this will help stop burner accounts follow bot accounts or just new accounts made by trolls from ruining your stream as they won't be able to chat or they won't be able to follow but if they're still getting through even all of that have no fear you can use the shield mode tool on your dashboard to lock it down even further temporarily but again I have a full video linked at the top of the description and I'll also have it as an end screen to the video so you can see a full setup yourself next quick win is fairly straightforward but it's something that has always bothered me when I ban someone and I ban a lot of people they can't chat or engage anymore but you know what they can do still watch the stream which feels gross and weird because they actually do this banned Chatters will sit there and angrily watch I hate that thought but we can solve it head to your stream dashboard head to settings and click moderation scroll down to stop Bann viewers viewing your stream give it a click and well it's just such an easy button and it gives so much more peace of mind that's a lot of protection tools so next let's talk about actually engaging with your viewers and growing with a barely known twitch feature right after we thank our sponsor epidemic sound as a content creator there is a rule you'll by Audio is 70% of your content if you have lowquality visuals people will deal with that but if you have bad audio and you hurt someone's ears they are gone they will not stick around for example watch this 7-second clip how many Wonder trades to turn my f Coco into a I don't know about that spin it felt off Pokemon that I could beat in a fist fight now let's actually sound designer how many Wonder trades to turn myo coko into a I don't know about that spin it felt off Pokemon that I could beat in a fist fight I'd fight a Marill I'd fight an Azam marrow a Happ I'd fight cleffa I'd fight a lot of different Pokémon as long as they're the baby version of them I'd just fight babies I don't think I could take a Noy battle how do I how do I get up there oh easy that counts the difference is amazing and that's why I use epidemic sound to create something immersive and magical plus it's so easy to use I can search via John raud or even take a Spotify link like this and it will give me result results that match and to fit the theme of this video being all about quick wins epidemic sound are offering 50% off their already discounted yearly plan for the next 7 days during cyber week so use the link in the top of the description and use code stream scheme again if you want to support me then click the link in the description and have a look today getting back into it twitch stories is the fairly new and barely adopted feature I wanted to tell you about and because twitch streamers hate change it is taking a long time for it to take off but in short imagine taking any of your best moments at as a clip quickly converting it to vertical and sharing it directly to offline viewers who are using the Twitch app all in less than 5 minutes without any downloads or editing experience pretty straightforward head to your dashboard again go to content go to Clips find the clip you want to use as your story click edit edit the layout to vertical and make sure it's all lined up so that you're happy click save and then edit the length if you need so it's nice and short and snappy then save the clip head back out and click this little add to story button now on the homepage or the Twitch app your viewers can see that story for the next 24 to 48 hours and they can even react to it I tested this for about a week on my pretty inactive twitch Channel since I'm now a YouTube streamer and it was actually really effective at first it started really slow but very quickly a few hundred views a few dozen reacts on each story this screen recording was taken 10 minutes after I posted and already it has people reacting and viewing it the core issue with my test though is that this is clearly a snow I found on the seventh day of posting I was consistently getting higher views so if you stuck to this for a while you'd likely see better results I don't think this is a life-changing tool but genuinely it's just a fun way to keep actively engaged with your community while also encouraging a clipping culture which helps you get more content to use P has actually been investing in a lot of really great features in this category and one that makes me most excited is actually something that was heavily debated about being good or bad and that is letting viewers upload your Clips directly to their socials out dare those evil little viewers who aren't content creators use your content for free I understand there is a lot of fear here but for a streamer having a clipping culture and specifically a clipping culture that shares to other more discoverable social media is a massive boost to that's right Discovery for years creators have blown up because they kept getting amazing Clips shared to Reddit to live stream fails to YouTube and now to Tik Tok in the vtuber space in particular clipping culture has changed entire lives imagine having dedicated fans who want to help you be discovered by clipping cutting and sending your best moments to a dedicated fan account across social media all with just a twitch tool while also forcing the upload clip to have your username in it it's all so disgusting so if you want to make sure this setting is turned off head to your dashboard settings stream and scroll down to find let viewers upload Clips to their socials but you know if you want to potentially boost Discovery or encourage a behavior of people sharing your best moments for you you could always leave this on and maybe encourage your community to clip more with clip contests or other initiatives and if you couldn't tell all that stuff about turning this off and disgusting viewers that was sarcasm you'd think I don't need to say that but well you've not seen my comment section interestingly this isn't even the twitch feature that caused the most angry tweets over the past few months that's the next feature twitch streamers hate this tool which usually means it's actually incredible and amazing collaborations have two major problems first hearing and seeing the other streamers you're collaborating with is a pain and second streamers all have their own chats so they all reply to different messages and nobody else has context but collaborating is so much better when viewers can see the other streamers cameras and their reactions to the game or content you're producing and when every streamer and viewer can see every other streamer's chat messages that's even better now I made a whole video about stream together which will be linked in the description but the short of it is Twitch built a feature that allows streamers who want to collaborate to share their audio and optionally their camera without desync directly to each other's OBS via browser Source but even better it has up to six browser sources meaning you can have six streamers cameras and audio directly on screen it's amazing for podcasts for game shows and just letting viewers see the streamer friends that you're playing with as they actually play alongside you and when they get really disappointed in you dying over and over and over and over and over you'll actually see them quietly lose faith in you a lot of people have said that this tool is useless because nobody collaborates but I just want to point out GTA RP Minecraft s SMP Among Us Dale and dorson Pilgrim lethal company literally every single top major performing category on Twitch is a collaboration and this tool makes those collaborations so much better for a viewer so stop listening to Twitter now I will admit I know a few people have had issues with CPU spiking when using this tool but I've narrowed it down to two things first anyone using streamlabs seems to have their PC die which is normal with browser sources and streamlabs because streamlabs is crappy software and thankfully there is a performance tab where you and your collaborators can lower the quality to lower the CPU usage and none of what I've even mentioned so far is actually the best part shared chat when you set up stream together collaboration and set up a call you can turn on shared chat and everyone who is in that call and live of course will have their chats merged we've had to do so much of this with external tools for years now and it's always confused new creators but now it's all just built in for free it's genuinely amazing if you want a full breakdown on setting up all of that or Shield mode and auto mode like I said you can check out the links in the description or either of these end screens thank you so much I'll see you guys next week
