had these 12 leaving that which does not concern you I'm the authority of abu huraira may allah be pleased with him who said The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said part of the perfection of one's Islam is his leaving that which does not concern him bismillah alhamdulillah wa salatu was-salam ala rasoolillah Lebon so what the Prophet is trying to say here is that if you want to be the best Muslim you can possibly be you want your Islam to be really strong what you need to do is you need to avoid one very you know tempting thing which many people get involved in and that is getting involved in things which don't concern you in the first place what that really means is anything which concerns you is basically something which you should be getting yourself into it's something which is gonna benefit you in this life or it's something which is gonna benefit you in your next life anything beyond that that has no benefit in this life no benefit in the next life it's pretty much a waste of time so you should try to avoid those things and I know it's very tempting that you want to get involved sometimes when people are having a conversation and you want to just kind of you get curious and you want to be part of that conversation so you try to get yourself involved in that someone is talking about something and you may not even be a specialist in that field you may may not even be your area of expertise but you go ahead and you want to kind of say something about that that's getting yourself involved in something which doesn't concern you it could have very dangerous effects like for example when you're speaking about something which you don't know that's one way of getting involved in something which is not your business but even if it's completely neutral in the sense that you're not really gonna harm yourself when you're getting involved in something still it's considered to be a waste of time one of the great scholars of Islam remember of Ezeli he explained this same hadith by giving me an analogy and the analogy was imagine a person went into a mind like a gold mine where there's diamonds and gems and rubies all on the floor just waiting for you to just pick it up and you have your sack with you and instead of picking up any of the gold or the diamonds or the gems and the rubies you start picking up the dirt from the ground and you start putting it in your sack and then you walk out of the cave and you got an entire sack full of dirt you say what did what was the point of that you had the opportunity to do so much with those valuables which you could have picked up they were just there and they're very easy to pick up but instead you picked up the dirt which had no value at all that is exactly the analogy he gave of this hadith where you're getting yourself involved in something which does not concern you meaning it has no benefit for you at all no worldly benefit and no other worldly benefit no benefit in the sight of Allah so whenever we do something we need to ask ourselves and reflect and say is this my business in the sense that is this really something I need to get myself involved will it help me or benefit me or will it benefit me in the next life because there's so many things that people need to do there's family obligations there's work obligations there's knowledge that they need to learn there's so many things in life that people don't have time to get themselves involved in everything which is not their business because they actually have so much to do which is their business and does concern them so one of the great qualities of Islam and the great qualities of a Muslim who's trying to be the best Muslim they can be is that they focus on those qualities and those things which concern them in the first place and have some benefit in their life so whenever is something you whenever you think of doing something whenever you think should I do this should I do that should I say this should I say that should I get involved in this person's business or in this person's you know conversation that they're having ask yourself does this really concern me or is there something more important that actually is my business that I should be focusing on and if you find out it's not your business go focus yourself on something which really concerns you and that will help you improve your Islam it'll help you get closer to Allah subhana WA Ta'ala it'll help you be a better Muslim overall so we ask Allah subhana WA Ta'ala to make us among the people who focus on only that which concerns them we ask Allah to make us among the people who focus our time and our energy and our efforts in doing things which will benefit us in the neck life and things which will benefit us in this life I mean
