Indonesia's Independence and Patriotism

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Asalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. All praise is due to Allâh, the Lord of the Worlds. We are grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa taala because with His permission we are all still given the opportunity to be healthy so that we can gather this morning in a healthy, enthusiastic and happy condition on our school field. We don't forget to convey greetings and greetings to the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam, the prophet of the end times who brought the light of Islam to the world from the dark age to the brightest era. Together we say Allahumma sholli ala Muhammad wa ali Muhammad. Dear Sirs and Madams, my beloved children, whom you are proud of. Do you know my children? Our country is already 80 years old because humans can already have grandchildren. But if a country is 80 years old, it means that our country is still growing and developing. And all of you are the future successors who will make this country better. So it will be even greater in the future. My children , independence means that we are free from colonialism. Before August 17, 1945, Indonesia was colonized by foreign nations for hundreds of years. There were Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese colonizers who came one after another. When colonized, the Indonesian people could not live freely, could not go to school properly, could not work peacefully, and even had difficulty eating. Everything is limited. No one can choose, everyone is forced. Anyway, living under colonialism was very painful and sad. Just imagine my children, we are not allowed to speak Indonesian. We must not have our own flag. We are not allowed to sing national anthems. We cannot choose our own leaders. Everything is determined by the colonizers, my dear children. But our nation did not remain silent. Many heroes fought. There is Prince Diponegoro, there is Cutyakdin, there is Imam Bonjo, there is Tengku Umar, there is Patimurah and many more. They all dared to take up arms against the colonialists for one ideal, namely independence. And finally after a long struggle, after much blood was spilled, after many tears and sacrifices on August 17, 1945, Indonesia declared itself an independent country. Soekarno and Hatta, two important figures of this nation, read the text of the proclamation in Jakarta. They declared to the world, we the Indonesian people hereby declare the independence of Indonesia. Extraordinary. My children, now we live in an era of independence. We can go to school, we can play, we can learn, we can raise the red and white flag with pride because of the services of the heroes. But the question now is, what can we do to fill that independence? Independence is not only freedom from colonialism, but also freedom from ignorance, freedom from laziness, freedom from decline. If in the past heroes fought with weapons, now we must fight with science. If in the past they fought against the colonizers, now we are fighting against laziness. If in the past they lifted sharpened bamboo, now we lift books. My children, you are today's heroes. Heroes today are not those who fight on the battlefield, but those who fight in schools. who studies diligently, who respects teachers, who loves parents, who is disciplined, who is honest. Today's heroes are children like you who come to school on time, bring their own homework, don't cheat, like to help their friends, and are always enthusiastic about learning. Be assured, my children , that from a simple classroom a great leader can be born. From a small study table can grow ideas that change the world. Maybe one of you will become president, Minister of Education, a great doctor, or an extraordinary teacher. But all of that cannot be achieved by being lazy. Don't let the fact that times are good now make you complacent. Remember, the freedom we enjoy today was paid for with blood and tears. You just have to enjoy the results, so don't waste the struggle. If you are lazy to study, like to skip school, like to play with your cell phone all the time, don't respect teachers, don't respect your parents, that's the same as not respecting the struggle of the heroes. If you want to respect heroes, then study hard, be honest in life and don't give up easily. My beloved children, Father is proud of you, look at the red and white flag that is flying in front of us. Red is a symbol of bravery, white is a symbol of purity. Being brave doesn't mean liking to fight, but being brave enough to say the truth. Dare to judge the weak, dare to apologize if you are wrong and be pure. This means our hearts must be clean. You can't be jealous, you can't be arrogant, you ca n't cheat. If we can guard our hearts like the flag, brave and pure, then we will become great Indonesian children. My children, love for one's country is not only spoken, but shown through actions. What is love for one's country shown in? by studying diligently, not littering, not bullying friends, loving friends and teachers, maintaining the school and home environment, using good and polite Indonesian. That's a simple way we love Indonesia. My children, independence is not the end, but the beginning. It's like riding a bicycle, the proclamation is when the feet first pedal. But to get to the destination, we have to keep pedaling, keep learning, keep fighting. Don't feel satisfied just because we are independent, but we must feel responsible for maintaining and filling that independence with good things. So what is our task now? Our first task now is to study seriously so that in the future we can become people who are useful to the nation and state. Second, obey your parents and teachers because they are the ones who guide and educate us. Third, dare to dream. Don't be afraid to dream big. Nothing is impossible if we are willing to try. Fourth, respect and help each other. Because Indonesia was built on togetherness. Fifth, be honest in words and deeds. Because honesty is the key to all success. My dear children, I hope that this year's Hood E commemoration will not just be a ceremony and competitions, but will be a moment to foster a spirit of nationalism, gratitude, and responsibility in you as the nation's next generation . You are our hope. You are the successors of the heroes. Don't belittle yourself just because you're still in elementary school. Because this is where Indonesia's future begins. Let us together maintain this spirit of independence. Let's fill our independence with a spirit of learning, love of wisdom, and good deeds every day. Finally, I wish you a Happy 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Freedom, freedom, freedom. Thank you all for your attention. Asalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Yeah.
