Overview

This lecture provides an overview of Blackboard Learn, including login procedures, attendance requirements, email policies, multi-factor authentication, and privacy information for Wake Tech students.

Blackboard Learn Introduction

  • Blackboard Learn is the e-Education platform used to connect students, instructors, and technology at Wake Tech.
  • Access to courses on Blackboard begins on the first official day of class, as noted in your course schedule.
  • If you can't access your course after classes start, contact the IT department at (919) 866-7000 for assistance.

Logging In & Course Access

  • Use the official Blackboard login page to access your courses.
  • Courses will only be available at their scheduled start dates in Self Service.
  • Language preferences can be selected during login for accessibility.

Attendance and Proctoring

  • Completing the Course Entry Quiz (CEQ) by the 10% point of the semester is required to maintain enrollment in each online class.
  • Some tests or assignments may require proctoring at a Wake Tech or approved off-campus testing center; off-campus centers may charge fees.

Student Email Policy

  • All official communication from Wake Tech is sent to your student email account.
  • Activate your my.waketech.edu account, wait 24 hours, then use Office 365 to access your email.
  • Instructors and officials may refuse emails sent from non-Wake Tech accounts.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Download an authenticator app (Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy) on your smartphone for MFA.
  • Scan a QR code or enter a provided key in the app to set up MFA.
  • Enter the temporary code generated by your app to complete MFA setup.
  • MFA will be required for each login, especially on new devices.

Privacy and Terms of Use

  • Blackboard collects and stores necessary personal information and uses cookies for application functionality.
  • By logging in, you agree to Blackboard’s Terms of Use and Privacy Statement.
