Analyzing Wendy Adelson's Possible Guilt

hello everyone welcome back to jury trial Mentor today Carl and I are going to be going over a list of indicators of Wendy adelson's skill that Carl mostly came up with over the last few weeks Carl can you expound on how you came up with these well I've looked over all the evidence and um from YouTube's to police report everything collected I looked at and analyzed and studied to come up with what is the real behavior and mindset and is there any consciousness of guilt for Winnie Adelson surrounding all these facts that generally are out there in the public already now some of the points you're about to see seem really trivial trivial or they're it's a small point so address that Carl when somebody sees hey Point number nine how can you indict someone based on that point alone well what you want to do is what I'm looking for is the picture of what actually happened and so there's a lot of puzzles in any crime solving some of some of the times you'll have a big puzzle piece and other times you'll have real tiny little ones but even those tiny little ones help paint the whole picture of the person that did the crime or people that did the crime and so that's what we have here today there's a lot of little nuggets but there's also some big rocks and together those all create the the imagery of Wendy's involvement yeah think of a completed puzzle but this puzzle instead of having all the pieces the same size you have varying sizes right of puzzle pieces all right let's get into the first one Carl so first we want to look at prior to the murder the day of what are the indicators out there that Wendy had some involvement in foreknowledge that this murder was about to take place what we had uh is a I think one of the key focuses of the prosecution of this case against when he would be is the legal court filings were going to deal a tremendous blow for Wendy Dan had alleged that she had failed to disclose numerous assets she also failed to return a family heirloom from the Markel family and things are really ratcheting up and with this court filing things were about to radically change in her life unless she did something drastic the yaws the emotion also affected the grandparent visitation rights in the sense that uh the edelson's in Miami would not be able to have grandparent visitation without Supervision in the event Dan won its motion so both Donna and Wendy were really ratcheted up with anger from these pending court filings and we'll get more into that later all right here's number two and so um the motion itself that she had raised to move to Florida I think it's pretty you can from talking to um the Florida lawyers that are knowledgeable about this case the indicators are that this motion was frivolous and it was frivolous because the the custody had already been decided back in 2013 the summertime so to to go back and have this reopen less than a year later expecting that Court to Now Grant her sole custody down in Miami was really Preposterous and frivolous and so um if you recall she had testified in the first court hearing and the judges shut her down and said unless you got something more there's you've you have no basis for us to reopen what was already agreed upon this is another indicator that Wendy was really planning something strategically for a long time to ditch down and this is one of the indicators showing how calculated and focused she is on making her separation from Dan and and eventual elimination from Dan the ultimate outcome she sought this is the Crux of I would say the prosecution's main focus on on what was Wendy really wanting to go after Dan for why would she sign up to a murder of him as you can see here this quote-unquote legal bomb is actually coming from one of their joint mutual friends Tamara and it also came from some other mutual friends The Goldbergs excuse me the greenbergs this here was was about to unleash a catastrophic bomb on Wendy's life her whole life would have changed if she would have lost this motion um because she made an affidavit in court and Dan was going to say that she had intentionally concealed assets that he discovered later after the divorce decree was signed off on so next slide there we have another indicator here this is a really key and I think a lot of jurors would really look at this as a significant indicator she knew something was going on the Friday Deanna was murdered and this was the Facebook profile she changed right so the photo she had beforehand is showing her kids then the one after that was showing her as more single and attractive and according to Jeff Lacoste this was actually one that was photoshopped by her dad so the timing of this and we don't know how often she changed her photo right but uh to do it regardless how often she changed it to do that change right before the day before the murder obviously it's a real clue that she was thinking how she's going to come across in the media and again a small Point like this in and of itself isn't enough to con convict her or anything like that but it's just another data point that points towards her involvement right that's what yours look at yeah they want to look at all these kind of things they'll look at something that's very random a lot of times that a lot of people don't think of but it really grabs their attention and think makes them think that that was the calculator trading point that really convinced me of somebody's involvement so yeah just this one alone could really tip the scales okay next one all right in the month of June is it was very um very suspicious in how Wendy was acting per Jeff Lacoste she was acting very strange from the way he'd never known her before and the many months that they were dating and what he would do like for example he would describe him sitting with the boys in the living room playing with them and then he'd look in the kitchen and see Wendy crying really crying hard for no reason and she would never tell him what it was about and so this happened more than once and and by this happening multiple times in June I think she was having some internal struggles that she knew something and her life was rally going to change granted it was going to change for the better that should be in Florida but the planning was already going operational we also know that the uh the hit was supposed to happen that month they had driven up there in June uh the Hitman so she she was a little bit scared and she should have been as most people would have been because uh to be involved in a killing obviously he's quite a quite a um Quite a feat to be involved with mentally if you haven't done it before so again she she mentioned to him that how much she disliked living in Tallahassee a couple weeks before Dan's murder and so that the only way out is if something happened to Dan so that's a sort of an eerie reminder that there's a lot of indicators that Dan was about to be eliminated and those are those are revealed in her some of her comments and actions let's go to number seven this is what uh Tamara Demko indicated that things are really heating up the the divorce is getting really ugly and uh that Dan was really going to the mattresses on this one and Matt going to the mattress is another phrase for for really going into heavy Warfare engagement against her and she had been alleging uh things by Dan that looked apparently frivolous there was an 800 page um Court filing in the court the actual uh binder for the for the case of their um divorce and then subsequent litigation like I say for 800 Pages that's quite a bit of court filings and uh so Dan Dan was alleging that he had not discovered the fraudulent concealment um until after the divorce and Tamara indicated some other people had been told by Dan so apparently Dan was telling a number of people that things are about to really um heat up in this litigation and indications are that Wendy would have known about this as well in fact and um her testimony last testimony in court she indicated that Dan had alleged that she had done a fraudulent allegations of assets in the court number eight when he was uh pressing Dan for the details of when he was leaving Friday even after she pretty much had blown him off and and Jeff's perception was it's over with there's no future for our relationship and so by by he him walking already 10 Paces away and then she says oh by the way when are you leaving uh on Friday um that that just is I think a really strong indicator and a Jared really connect with this as being she knew ahead of time Dan was next Target date was Friday the 18th of July as it sure enough uh happened and so um I think this is a really strong indicator that uh there was there was pre-planning by her and she was part of it to me this is one of the top two indicators of gel this just stands by imagine it stands out in my mind Imaging walking away from somebody as you broke up with them and then oh yeah by the way you're leaving when on Friday it's just so obvious that she was wanting to make sure that he was going to be potentially the Fall Guy and be gone uh or traveling by in the vicinity during the time of the murder right and I think they were playing this whole thing out like hey lead him on as much as you can and then suddenly drop him off uh like a rock uh from your relationship and then sort of make it look like he's an angry jilted uh victim lover and make him uh be inspired to go and attack the person that uh that had been victimizing her is there maybe a chance to win her back you know so that's that's what looks like what's going on here um next one this is really telling also that uh she tells of Charlie's 2013 plot to her boyfriend Jeff Lacoste just around five days before the actual murder so for him for her to say this first of all that this had been going on for almost a year now and then for her to mention this out of the blue no context and why would you say this unless you knew something was about to happen and so I think there's another form of deflection for her because if Dan was excuse me if Jeff wasn't loyal to her and if when the police questioning was happening um that she would have had an opportunity to deflect towards her her brother Charlie being the source not her so I think she was planting seeds already to make it look like I don't know anything what's going on about this murder as it was all you know my brother just joking about it but yet in this case this wasn't a joke keep in mind this was him actually having sort of like if freaked out reaction it's like what he was he was actually plotting to kill and then of course he mentioned the dollar amount was like 50 000 or 15 000 for the hit and they didn't know if um he didn't know which one it was but it was it was some some dollar figure like that number 10. this is a theme you see throughout looking at any time you see Wendy talking um it's her her demeanor on the witness stand is just an utter abysmal failure it is so easy to find her lies and the way she tries to deflect and rephrase questions she never comes across as a victim at all and so that really draws any Prosecutor's interest and like this is not the the way somebody is innocent a victim and even if you didn't like Dan Markell your boys are victimized by this and you should want to have the uh The Killers all prosecuted but what Wendy's um deflection and constant lying on the stand over things are just so abundantly clear and you wouldn't think a a person would have a reason to lie about it she kept on lying about it number 11. this is what Tim Jansen said about what Wendy was facing by the court filings from Dan Markell so this was going to be a radical change in departure from her easy lifestyle she had everything going for even as a single mother up in Tallahassee she had a decent job she had a nice house to live in she was um had plenty of assets to reach down front to Miami her parents to a supporter if needed but all this is about to radically change I mean she wasn't going to be with this hanging over her head um knowing that this judge who shut her down from test time before was about to hear how she was um bamboos on the court and Dan this was uh I think the straw broke his camel's back where anything where she was like not involved before um if somebody would think that this became part of her wanting to like lead the chart to make sure it happened before the court finally was going to happen and before the deposition was about to happen and that that and it did happen that way yeah in the last two weeks if you notice everything was building up to a frantic state in the last week that's why I think she did something as stupid as turning around to Jeff and saying oh by the way you will be leaving Friday right right and I think that's one of the reasons why she's crying in June because she knew this was hanging over her head so either way she's gonna have to be involved in a murder and then go through all the questioning and whatnot and so she was it was a very stressful time even though um you know all these indicators are that she's involved in you don't think Donna was calming her down I think uh Donna was probably ratcheting up uh because like I say they're both in the firing pin they both would have been found um um by this judge who's very sharp but both of them have been found that Dan's allegations were accurate and credible what this would actually happen or not um don't know so much about you know the attorney licensing but um Dan was even a legend in his court filings that she was not fit to be a clinical Professor being so misleading and deceptive like she was in the court filing so this was already um I think planting seeds in her mind that that she she may she may lose her job and never be able to recover number 12. this one here is um like you were saying it revved them both off they both probably played against each other the anger because uh having to have supervised visitation for Donna I mean that would have been no doubt something that they would have fought tooth and nail over and I think with that with Donna constantly brow beating her I think that was the point of no return once Donna was now in the firing line legally I think that that's possibly the point where Wendy realized okay we are having to go through with this there's no backing down right and it was so it became more of a family joint operation to take him out but Wendy from these indicators looks like she was totally on board and when we're not done yet so next next slide please you notice that she said Hitman um to three different people in the last week of Dan's life leading up to including the day of the murder so she mentions it to Lacoste TV repairman and uh detective Isom so she keeps she keeps on mentioning about this being a joke like it's like it's something that um I think leads to people thinking why would there be a Hitman joke unless he's really a mean abusive and cruel husband I mean when's the last time any of us brought up the word Hitman in any conversation in our lives it's not something to joke about yet it hap has to happen with an hour an hour or two of the actual hit job right this the timing of this is all all indicating there's something something wrong amiss and there's some planning involved and if you look at the way she jerked around Jeff Lacoste in their relationship and this is this is right before um the uh 10 steps away where she was asking now what what are you doing about a Friday going up to uh Tennessee so this is what Jeff described that they had um lunch on Monday and they were together up until three o'clock in conversation what not and then they um went to evening yoga and during the yoga session she she like completely blew him off and then um Wanted apparently nothing to do with them um after that was over with around seven o'clock so um as Jeff had uh keenly pointed out there was something that happened between the three and seven o'clock time frame that if there were some further records to indicate that she was told we're going full on is supposed to be Thursday or Friday so be ready and so this is this was her um time to then punch Dan out excuse me punch Jeff out as well from their relationship anyway and um and we'll see what happens then number 15. this is something that indicates the extent that she was desperate to get out of Tallahassee she hated Tallahassee couldn't stand it and wanted to be with her with her parents down there and her mom was constantly harping about it right so Dan thought that her mom was a main driver for the divorce but what did the divorce do it never got the grandkids or Wendy in Miami so um what did they do they offered money and uh but this was something that uh Dan apparently had not um not been agreeable to so and if you think about the cost difference a million dollars versus a hundred thousand dollars which they hadn't been there were describing is what they got um big difference in cost savings here number 16. the hatred that Donna described towards um what she called Dan as jibbers uh which sounds like a derogatory term although Wendy said it wasn't derogatory uh in court um when you look at this dressing up the boys as Hitler Youth and um then trying to have him converted and baptized to Catholic and to have this done before the actual court hearing so there wasn't a lot there was only a few months to have this uh this change take effect but it just shows the the desperate mentality that these folks had to uh make sure that Dan's Dan's a normal relationship with the boys and everything up in Tallahassee was not acceptable to them nope this is another troubling sign here on visitation that Dan always offered Wendy first ride of refusal as any parent should but when you would never reciprocate that back to Dan so if when he was going to go out of town for a couple weeks uh dance was never given the opportunity to have the kids that whole two-week period instead um when he would have her parents show up or other people take care of the kids instead of Dan which really was upsetting to Dan and rightfully so but it just shows the extent that she despised Dan and let let the kids basically suffer um and not have any concern for that basically she's been playing dirty in so many different ways uh leading up to the divorce and after the divorce Dan seemed like he was being honest and doing the right thing and it seems like that's hard for her to do right totally totally agree with number 18. um Jeff said that she was always acting in as a victim um that was her default mode for everything that she did I'm a victim of this I'm a victim of that and um she claimed that another example here is that she claimed Dan never read her book and yet Dan actually posted about her book on his uh blog I bet she embellished so many stories when she told Charlie revving up and amping up Charlie's emotions and defending his sister think of all the lies the potential lies that she told Charlie to get him so ticked off at Dan right the constant drip of negative comments about Dan really playing off their uh their emotions to get them to hate him and and uh and then turn that they help we're motivated helper get this executed number 19. Wendy wouldn't testify without a subpoena so it just goes to show that unless she was forced to come into court she wasn't there for for going after the murders which which is very disturbing as a uh the mother of these Carl she was too busy out there trying to find the real killers yeah very very involved all right number 20. a lot of interesting uh timings don't seem right it's incredibly intentional this is a quote by uh their joint mutual friend that indicates there's a lot of interesting timings that don't add up to it's a basically in basic innocence and she was she was a friend of both it was harder for her the next day of the after Daniel shot to really contemplate the fact that the edelsons were involved but from me from her statements that she gave you can see that she's really wrestling and struggling with the timing of this is so odd that things work out too good in her gut she knew what happened and what was going on it was just hard hard to contemplate that um number 21. I think just generally looking at Jeff it looked like he was sort of a fall guy for from for a while and um if you think about the kind of person that she was interested in she's looking for a flashy person that's going to be wanting to move to Miami and Dad uh Jeff doesn't fit that mold he's a social worker professor and um he doesn't meet her high standards Elite standards for the Miami lifestyle so and he also spoke about how Don and Harvey really didn't even give him the time of day and so um he was just a pawn in my opinion and her whole chess game that's what it looks like okay next number 22. Wendy also invoked if uh the Fifth Amendment through Her counsel during the deposition so that's something an attorney is going to do so this is not something that you're going to bring up in court but it's just another data point if you're looking at it just sort of feeds into this um this theory that she was focused on self-preservation rather than than solving the murder against her boy's father number 23. you can tell that she deeply resented Dan also from a professional standpoint Dan was a tenured professor she wasn't she was more like a contract Adjunct professor and Dan was like the the celebrity of all the professors there at FSU and was rapidly Rising um as including his salary while he's there at FSU they didn't want to lose him to some other university and um and Dan was also um telling friends Donut Man do not mention Harvard around Wendy because she was very very bothered by the Harvard um the elite status I brought and I just think that's odd most normal wives would celebrate to the fact of how accomplished and successful her husband is but but with Wendy that wasn't the case now here it was a rivalry definitely a rivalry very interesting number 24. this is sort of an odd thing that uh sort of plays into the victims mentality that Jeff ocos was talking about because Wendy accused Dan of creating a hostile work environment but yet she worked in a different office a different building so for that to happen it just seems a little bit odd and then um there is a there's a videotape that was just posted today that indicated that that this person thought there wasn't really any interaction and people really didn't know there was a legal fight in battle um from the general office co-workers at the at the law school there and if you think about you know this is being an opportunity for her to skip town as well if she described as a hostile work environment well a murder would quickly solve that for sure number 25. if you think about how Wendy fought aggressively to get the boys relocating to get Soul custody to Miami and then you look at how she described it in court later so this sort of ties in before the murder and then um days and weeks after to describe it to be is being relieved um that the court made an order that denied the very thing she's requesting disabilize any Common Sense number 31. this thing about the Hitman was not just said like that the day of and the weeks of that murder but this also was something that was mentioned a lot in the time since she got the TV um instead of hiring a Hitman for her as her divorce President so um I I think it also by her mentioning this it helps her victimhood status be projected and it makes Dan look like an abusive spouse yeah and I think one other point Carl I think that she really did not care if the down down the line that the the finger was the fingers of Justice will be pointed at her own brother I I don't think she cared too much about if one day the law enforcement uh or prosecutors go after Charlie I think in her heart of heart she really didn't care that's why she was so willing to lay this out there so many times yes that's absolutely right 32. this conversation that Tamara I may be saying that name wrong but Tamara Demko was saying in her interview with the detectives that when he actually sounded happy and excited talking about her boyfriend uh Jeff Lacoste and then when she showed up the day after the murder um at Wendy's house Wendy is like what boyfriend are you talking about so without any kind of explanation it was this really very a weird discussion at that point very odd number 33. Wendy never said to uh Jeff Lacoste that she had refuted or or rejected any of these Hitmen comments and you think a normal spouse would be like you know what that joke is a little bit old would you would you knock it off and and you're talking about the father my two boys so uh again you talk about the kind of mindset of perennial alienation and elimination down the road correct number 34. this is sort of her Mo where she does a Pearl Harbor type uh planning then when the Pearl Harbor Day happens it's like it's it's a complete uh shock and that's what it was that's what Dan called his divorce filing because he was up in New York and uh she tells him over the phone oh by the way um I'm leaving you and the kids so he scrambles to get uh you know as fast as you can back there to find pretty much the house uh emptied out and uh none of the boys furniture and clothes were there except the only thing left behind were closed out where they had outgrown so this it just shows a calculated cruel harsh nature and when you talk about all the money that was missing and uh that family heirloom from The Mark Hills which was by the way from someone that survived the Holocaust so it just it just shows the level of I don't care it's my way and these markells um they need to go complete lack of empathy number 35. if you think about what um what we saw in the Donna emails talking about how Dan was sort of like a cult figure to them with his strict Orthodox Jewish lifestyle and something that they had initially agreed upon before the marriage and during the marriage and they had the boys and also Wendy started uh not agreeing with that you can actually tell from from the way they talked that they just despised Dan over this issue as well as the fact that when they had their wedding uh Dan Dan Dan had the agreement with them that everything would be kosher and then Dan finds out during the wedding that uh Not only was it not Kosher but some of the guests had found out as well and in fact the rabbi who presided over their wedding he actually upped and left he was so disgusted by that again this is on their wedding day it already started there number 36 this is again the details of that statement that Wendy told Jeff about what's he doing on Friday Jeff was just so puzzled when he was back talking to the police about why was she asking about this something's very peculiar Dan was very suspicious excuse me Jeff is very suspicious of her uh for that why would you ask for those details on Friday it makes no sense unless you knew that something was going down and you wanted to pin it on Jeff which she did she actually did pin it on Jeff she did number 37. this again tells uh how a week before the killing that she said that she looked that Charlie had looked into hiring a Hitman back in 2013 she had had she rejected this idea though we never heard about her saying this is wrong why would she mention this it makes no sense an innocent person would say something like my my crazy brother he keeps mentioning this and and you'd rebuff it by saying it's a crazy idea or clearly he's out to lunch she didn't say anything she mentioned it with no no commentary with no rebuttal right and I think this was to point the finger at if it didn't work with uh her boyfriend Jeff Lacoste then the police would be targeting Charlie and she knew Charlie would not roll over on her and let's let's fast forward in fact she did throw Charlie under the bus the very day of the murder right number 38. hmm at trial when he couldn't recall any cash amounts taken from the joint accounts I mean that's something you would know or the attorney's fees uh paid for and relocating during the fight for relocation so I mean you're talking about probably a hundred thousand dollars in legal fees that she had spent trying to fight uh through the divorce and then uh trying to get the sole custody back number 39 um this is one where the Hitman States the lady wants her kids back so they knew that this was involving a woman wanting her kids back so even that was given to the Hitmen who had never met supposedly Wendy before so that I think is another indicator that um that this was done for her that's correct number 40. this is an indicator that Wendy is very jealous of Dan even about the new girlfriend the new girlfriend is having conversations uh Skyping with the boys because she was a professor up in New York city so just the jealousy is just unrelenting for um for Wendy this is another indicator number 41. hmm the timing of The Dumping of Jeff Lacoste I think that's a real telling to show that she was trying to get some distance and separation and she was planning on leaving and she never wanted to answer to him right I thought this was a strong indicator what were your thoughts on that yeah and just look at after after the murder she was with this man for many months he'd grown attached to her boys and she just ignores him after something as devastating as the murder of her her kid's dad and she never reached out to him until I think it was weeks later and even then it wasn't a voice call I don't think I think it was just some texting yeah I don't think they ever met face to face but yet she accused him of being a prime suspect so yeah just sort of it's been a chance to meet him face to face and and say hey where were you let's discuss your whereabouts on that Friday you said you were going to tell uh going to Alabama for instance and she never did right number 42. this was also something I thought was very disturbing that um you hear about Dan being told by his boys that Grandma's calling you stupid then when Dan asked about it why is Grandma saying I'm stupid and then she's uh then the boys said that well Grandma says that you don't let uh you're not letting your sunshines uh stay with Grandma or Grandma see her Sunshine's words of that effect so so obviously she's poising the minds of these poor little boys I think they were three and five so this is this is very disturbing as well it shows the level level of hatred um coming from Miami as well a truly loving mom or grandma no matter what they think of the ex try to protect that relationship that the boys have and that natural love they have for the boy for their dad and the fact that they are willing to poison that relationship says everything about their souls in my opinion right I agree number 43. it was really odd that Wendy talks about a substance of death as a part of life to the boys just days before Dan is murder that is like so telling again another data point to show that she's preparing for all these things to happen getting rid of Jeff find out what he's doing on Friday mentioning death to the boys uh just just very eerie uh chilling details that that a lot of jurors are going to pick up on and say this is this is really what convinces me and back to the puzzle example we were using earlier so this is for example this is one of the smaller pieces is this a big piece no is this piece by itself a big indicator an indictable of her guilt or her involvement no absolutely not but again it's just another arrow or another nugget that that shows uh points right back towards Wendy right number 44. the murderer Dan was also a stealth mode type uh of uh attack against Dan and it just sort of fits your Mo style as well so obviously this came as a shock so that from the divorce being a shock um to then her filing an action to try to get Soul custody would have been a shock um and then Dan being shocked by um you know being shot and and I guess he didn't really have time to think about that but that was her Mo was to do a quick strike hit take him out quick and it worked and then look how good everything happened after that for her right number 45 her book this book sort of mirrors your own life you talk about marrying somebody she doesn't love and and yet she's crying when she discovers that he's shot so it just it doesn't make any sense except for she's acting because everything you see about her life and Dan's interaction was just bitter hate mint resentment and uh nastiness on her part that spilled over to the boys how she treated the boys as well somebody else had commented on this as well that there's uh in her book she refers to the some Chicago play for her character Lily who's going to play um someone who had their someone that had a murdered husband so it's another sort of an eerie data point that doesn't doesn't prove you know anything um that she actually was involving premeditated murder but it's just another creepy data point that that jurors jurors like to see this kind of stuff to make them feel comfortable that this is sort of telegraphed in her mindset eradication of a mate it's really bizarre this is in the same category in my opinion as the owls so her wearing an owl t-shirt and then of all the things that Louise could be taking a picture of and posting on Instagram uh on route to the murder is a picture of an album I've taken took a picture of an owl just it's really bizarre right number 46 6. for this one Wendy in no way I think a reasonable juror would think that this was this hit was ordered against Dan without without Wendy approving it there's something about being able to do this against your daughter and or your brother um doing this against his sister without her being having knowledge of it and blessing off on it I mean that's just sort of like really far out there them not conferring with Wendy there's no way even if he didn't look at all these other indicators of how she was involved in planning just the fact that fact alone I I think is a is a good data point to show that as close as this family was they wouldn't have kept Wendy out of it but as an attorney she obviously knew to tell them do not have me involved in any emails um where we're talking about this obviously they use the uh WhatsApp so it remains to be seen what those chats reveal but maybe um the uh proffer has revealed some additional evidence that um that Wendy was involved maybe conversations um with the planning involved with the other Hitmen and uh the middleman number 47. this is a uh something that is a a big footstomp here a data point that everything in court filings that were going to be horrendous for her like we said earlier losing her job um possibly losing her license all that was going to go away this was going to work out beautifully granted she'd have to be questioned for murder but there was they were not anticipating any connection to Miami for the murders in fact if you think about when I looked at the police investigation report I only had part one available for me at up to this point but they were looking for local local Vehicles all in the Tallahassee area not until November of that year so the murder happened July not until November that year that they actually inquire with the sun pass for toll tag receipts to see was there a silver bluish looking um car that fits a description from the neighbor that he saw um after the after the sound of gunfire and dance garage and that came back right away they got the results back that same day but the police report makes it look like they were going up and down all the businesses along the path that they think they would have taken between the gym and home to try to find out the license plates of that Prius in any man all this went away with this hit we're up to now right now number 48. Carl this is a very interesting uh aspect of the case is that the Hitmen use a nearly identical car to Jeff Lacoste This was um would play nicely with Jeff Lacoste being a suspect as well so we there's no direct linkage to Wendy um of this that we know of but it obviously looks like Wendy would be the best source for this so is this an odd is this an odd coincidence or is this a part of planning I would I would submit that this looks like it's a part of planning similar size car similar color car and and going around the neighborhood around the time of the murder again it's just it's a smaller indicator but I think it's it's pointing I think they actually made this plan to get a car that looks just like Jeff's I think they did they did the first time from what I understand but the second time I think they decided to get one because they knew he was leaving that Friday so they said why don't you try to get a car that looks like his I think I think is what happened all right now number 49 this is one of the top indicators in my mind Carl what are your thoughts I I totally agree the odds of this happening where you go one hour from the time he's got bullets in the head poor Dan was shot I think this shows that she was frustrated because she hadn't received confirmation of the hit happening yet that's what we also heard from The Hitman that they didn't get back to a response until 12 30. so she's there around noon uh showing back up and we'll get to another slide talking about the details of what she did when she drove on truscal but trescott's a road that has uh it's a couple miles long the route she would have taken and there was a lot of speed bumps so anybody stand there you're going to take speed bumps to get to a shortcut it just makes no sense don't a lot of criminals they'll return to the scene of the crime Carl they do and uh in fact that's what happened in the Idaho murder case he returned back if you recall any folks with that uh if you remember that case he returned back that morning like around 9 30 and so it doesn't always happen but you hear about that that's being um a common criminology uh uh statement and it happened here in this case um so this was not her initial uh um or follow-up return but she was part of the planning of the of the uh the actual hit it looks like so so yeah she's going there to find out what's going on she's frustrated she hasn't heard anything yet because she needs to avoid that Court filing well she was frantic and it was only an hour though approximately an hour after the murder happened that she drove by that's how in my opinion how frantic she wasn't desperate to find out what happened she couldn't even wait an hour and a half or two hours on this no number 50. now when she went to this uh down Truscott she never checked on Dan's or the kid's safety with the police officer is there so she can tell there's police activity right near where Dan and the boys live she never asked what's going on she mentioned something about you know in court that she thought maybe there's a downed tree there but having multiple squad cars I think there was at least five at that time around noon it just doesn't make any sense the only reason she wouldn't ask about the voice because she knews where the boys were and she knew what what was going on with why the police were there she knew it went down and keep in mind when she pulled up it was crime scene tape and not only that but the officer testified that the lights were flashing on the police cruiser so that's correct there were four to five police cruisers there and she was able to see the driveway from her Vantage Point yet the lie that she tells is oh I just thought it was a down tree or a power line I turned around and went back again there's it's it's I think it's a weak explanation on her bath number 51. Wendy is uh one person and the only person up in Tallahassee that the uh co-conspirators down in Miami would have access to know what the schedule of Dan is and think about it up up in June the Hitman could not find Dan so I think there was more efforts to uh find out the exact location of not only Dan and the boys I think there was an agreement not to have the boys in the car in the house when the hit was about to occur but she's the best source of that we haven't heard that directly from the Hitman or from Katie yet but I think Katie may fill in some of these gaps I was thinking the same thing when you said that Carl I can't wait for the proper to come out the proper is to come out because I have a feeling we're going to know exactly what happened number 52. if you look at the phone calls the phone calls are also very telling that she ignored Dan that morning he called and there was time for her to call him back so she had access to her phones you could tell from the logs of phones calls this doesn't show all the logs but the 902 call by Dan it went to voicemail and she never bothered to call him back but she listened to his voicemail right away so I think that's very telling that's something the jury is really going to focus on as well she instead calls Charlie's phone at 9 19 and uh so you're going to call Charlie versus the the voicemail you just listened to Dan having to do with your boys obviously you're gonna you're gonna check with the what the status is involving your boys first I would submit so uh and then they spoke for 18 minutes so she never hung up and said look I gotta get back to Dan he's asking about um something involving the boys and then Wendy also uh calls back interestingly at 11 42. again the timing of her calling back to Dan almost two hours 45 minutes later and she was expecting no answer would she received no answer but I think it still uh she was so curious to see what's going on um why was Dan calling me at 902 and um I think she was just very frustrated and and wanted to make sure this job was done right number 53 this is also something as you um for those that are following the case closely um Katie the the middle man so to speak said I know when the Hitman called her around 12 30 12 45 to say the murder mission was complete so how would she know that but for Wendy and so I think um that that uh Wendy was the one that told Charlie and then Charlie told Katie and that's how this evidence came to light and again once the professors are released I think that's going to be confirmed I think so number 54. this is something I thought was very troubling uh to see this that as an attorney and even as a light person if if you see a cop showing up to interrupt your luncheon and asking you to come back to the police station and not follow you but actually right in the police car there's no way an attorney is going to get in the car and not um blast a whole bunch of questions to the police officer saying why are you talking to me what's going on and think about it she had already been to trust Scott and saw the police cars there so she never would have put two and two together as a lawyer that hey you're here about something that happened on trust God so and uh and I think as a parent she would say is this about my boys I'm not going anywhere tell me what's going on so the the fact is she acted like she was trying to play innocent but her playing that way I think actually revealed more the fact that she knew what's going on she knew she was going to be interviewed as a potential suspect so she had to go along to play along and um so I thought that was very telling and contract contrary to what Donna says she's not a good actress no she could have played a lot better I mean would you jump into a police officer's Cruiser without asking hey first before I jump in are my kids okay that'd be my first question or is my family okay or tell me what happened she didn't ask that because she found out we all saw it with the tape recording her at the detector's office it's it's just none of it adds up for innocence so um it I think this is a key point that jurors will look at as well number 55 when you look at her interview with Detective Isom she never sound alarm when he's talking about uh go ahead and play the voice message or something that uh happened on Truscott um Cox being at Dan's house there doesn't doesn't sound alarm and uh just just be acting very bizarre not good acting obviously so number 56 Wendy never failed to contact the parents and I I just thought that was a a lack of concern for the for the Dignity of Dan and he's still alive right and she never said well let me give you their number so you can reach them there was just no concern at all for any of our kills as has been a pattern um for quite some time now number 57 this is something that I thought would be something that a mother would do automatically which is talking about how this is going to affect the boys granted if you um can't stand Dan you would still cry over the fact what your boys are gonna face as a loss a devastating loss she never says that she she mentions I'm like how will I tell them as a as a faint of like like I don't know what to do I I have I have no idea how I'm going to deal with this with the boys it just looked like all acting and I would submit that every time somebody looks at Wendy testifying on uh either the two trials or look at her five-hour interview with Detective Isom every time there's more indicators of her lying and so every time you see it it really is more revealing number 58 if you notice Wendy was very hesitant to call Donna on the phone she appeared nervous and she was trying to you could tell she was like oh this could blow my whole cover kind of thing I think those kind of gears are moving in her inner brain and uh and she's just sort of wondering is Donna gonna be able to pull this off but Don is actually the a pretty good uh actress and so Donna she did sound very scripted though and just sounded it sounded really fake I thought and I I think a jury would cease right through that as well and never there's any Express for regret or sympathy for dance I I just I just think all this was uh played out as poor acting no nothing genuine here number 59. and also when Wendy uh was talking to Donna from the investigator's office she just sounded very calm and she wasn't crying and it just it just sounded uh like her demeanor was was uh not appropriate during that as a rent and for that matter the rest of the five-hour um interview as well detective it was very uh cold and clinical number 60. uh this is sort of like one of those odd coincidences it doesn't point you know anything towards necessarily guilt but I had heard maybe she went to a college where that owl as a mascot but there's just a lot of like symbolism and coincidences here that you see that that just would really pique the interest of a jury and just sort of one of these random uh tangents so to speak that uh that juries juries like seeing this kind of detailed information uh before they vote to convict all right number 61. I've seen some comments where folks talk about how well obviously Wendy's not uh couldn't be guilty because she turned her phone over um but she obviously knew as a lawyer her phone is going to be asked to be looked at so this is something I think is a red herring because she would have had her phone clean I think she'd already you know established that nobody's gonna just be sending her text message or anything like that she deleted everything right away too whether it's yeah she even admitted that what exactly so totally um so so this was a calculated move to make her look innocent and it worked because um they brought in the victim Advocate after a short time they did number 62. if you look at the uh the entire behavior of her she never really acts like a true victim it's more like a fake griever off and on during the time she does have some uh efforts of trying to make it look like she's crying but I think a lot of times putting her hands on her face is to try to cover up the fact that there's no tears so she can do the boohoo and sounds but there's no uh true genuine tears even though she grabbed the kleenex and stuff like that I mean she might have had some tears of relief too knowing that Dan is going out of the way and she gets to move to Miami that's what I'm thinking I thought part of that could have been genuine because think of the load lifted off of her shoulders in that moment that he might be on his way out he's not dead yet but it's looking like he might be that way that it was just a whole sigh of relief from all this dress that she's been going through right and I think um knowing that she's being filmed and as a lawyer you know how they're going to be going over your video and stuff like that also with the prosecutors and so I I think they did probably did a lot of rehearsals that two weeks right beforehand where she was down in Miami of visiting her parents and Charlie and possibly uh Katie too we don't that remains to be seen but I I think there's definitely rehearsals involved um by all the all the the parties and co-conspirators all right number 63. this is uh I thought another weird sign um that Wendy's had mentioned that she was one of the police car while in route to the police station if she was a suspect um it just shows that her her whole if you if you look at the way she was um posing questions out there like who would have done this and all kinds of she's just trying to make it look like she's trying to find out who are they being suspicious of and who's the Target and so then she starts throwing out more names like um her brother and Jeff Lacoste so I think all that was sort of like her main concern by the way she's acting is how do I get out of this not making myself a suspect and I think she in her mind was like I'm gonna do this one time I gotta act well and then I'm getting out of there and they're never going to see me or hear from me again if she can help it yeah and I have no doubt that they already discussed that assuminess goes through successfully by The Hitman on Friday we're out of here on Monday no doubt number 64. this one here has to do with Wendy to ask about her kids welfare um during a police interview until up to the first 20 minutes she she mentions the boys I thought that was very um odd and even if defense uh detective Isom mentioned this um this is not about your kids when he went to go get her at the lunch um one would press for details like what did the boys see their father gunned down what time was this where was this at in the house all these kind of details um is there any leads and so I'm just saying who done this without trying to come up with your own answers it just looked all fake and contrived definitely number 65. there was one point in there where there was some comment that Dan was uh maybe you know coming through okay and she didn't act like happy or let me go see him or or any of those kind of things so let me go get the boys her whole focus is so evident to me from seeing so many of these over over many years that she her Focus was get the story out there that she's innocent lawyers never talk to police if you're considered a suspect even if you're innocent but she would just do the opposite of a lot of the things you know you would think that attorney would do to make herself look even more ingratiated and innocent to the police and it worked for a while number 66 I think she also was testing um a lot of her theories and wanted to know where she stood as a suspect and how much she needed to keep her acting up and how long she would keep um and remain there under questioning because she made these comments like it's I know it sounds crazy when I talk about Jeff this way and things like that and then of course the victim Abbott says I don't think so so she was looking and trying to gauge feedback she's that calculating she's looking for feedback to see how how um all those seeds she's planning if they're taken taken to root or not number 67. this is more of a question rhetorical question about um why why did Wendy offer to Dan uh Isom the detective excuse me detective Isom that's someone would do this killing on her behalf what why would she throw that out there I just thought that was so bizarre that that wouldn't be an independent person that Dan ticked off enough to want to kill him but it's something that somebody's doing to help Wendy so that begs the question what what did you tell about Dan to make somebody want to kill him and who did you tell so I just thought um why would somebody also so loyal to her do this without her approval so it all feeds into the fact that somebody's not going to do without her being engaged in the process number 68. Wendy did not end the five-hour interview at any point because like I say she was focused on getting her story out there her one-time story she was going to present to the police how to get all those details of her Anderson innocence out there in the plant seeds of other people doing this for her behalf never had a concern about Dan or the boys and uh it just I think it just spells of planned um rehearsal to get the police to uh back off you and focus on other suspects number 69. if you think about how Dan died five to six hours after Wendy's police interview ended and yet Wendy never even visited him then there's no effort to go to see Dan bring the boys a call and yeah even the boys I don't know if you'd want they you probably don't want them to see Dan I don't know I mean that's a parent's call um case-by-case basis each parent would decide differently but um it's just like I'm done with Dan and I'm washing my hands of him and it just looks so cold and cruel and uh no concern whatsoever number 70. I thought that the way Wendy started crying doing this what I interpreted sort of fake crying at the police interview there was no shocking reaction I think most people their reaction is denial and go what what are you talking about what time was this and you started posing all these questions back to the police but to start crying right away like it's like it's a foregone conclusion that this is a bad outcome it's just very odd and I think that's another data point that jurors really pick up on that that um that in this particular case um that they will see this as being nothing but contrived acting number 71. this was another troubling thing about her testimony Wendy admitted to the detective that the murderers should get fully punished once they're caught unless it's a family member so she's already planning season Charlie was the one that could have likely done this but um she's also saying like well the families you know I don't I wouldn't agree they should be fully punished of their family again I think it goes into the seeds that she planted that Dan is such a nasty horrible person he deserved this but it also shows she's receptive to protect her family um by any means to include lying in court as long as it's deflecting the other family members and not herself because it's all about Wendy that's what it looks like definitely number 72. this is the friend that's so insightful about both these um individuals Dan and Wendy and she talks about how they would be so smart and pulling a plan together and I I think that also shows that she's indicating that the tides would not be strong to Wendy but they would be smart about trying to keep Wendy out of it and as she says Wendy's close uh good at keeping things close to the closet and redirecting and that's exactly what she did exactly in the interview so tomorrow if that's how you say her name and also Jeff Lacoste they really had her pegged from the get-go and so this is um I thought these would be key Witnesses for the upcoming trial for Monday yeah because they know her the best right okay the next one is 73 Carl just a strike chord with how the wonderful things worked out for Wendy she got instant Soul custody something was impossible with with the court system up in Tallahassee with what Dan now did and it's like winning the lottery as well all of our wishes are granted and she was actually moved there within 72 hours of Dan's uh death so this is uh something that um that I believe that why she was willing to to have Dan exterminated out of her life and face whatever consequence of being interviewed because it was one police interview and after that she thought she was home free and never have to do anything again I totally agree I think in her heart of heart she thought there's no way ever that this will ever come back to me if it goes and implicates Charlie should be okay with that right if it means that she is saved right number 74. if you look at the motive for the murders here in any case they always want to talk about motives as a prosecutor because that's what the jury last time looks looks at motive is not an element of murder that the prosecut is to prove but jurors like to see that so this is a data point for this uh aspect the motive shows that she benefited immediately and immensely and Dan was targeted for the killing only there was no robbery involved there's no burglary so it was extremely personal and uh it was effective and the ultimate form of Revenge so everything worked beautifully from that point on the day after the murder in the in the following weeks and days and uh we'll get some of these additional indicators that that that really drive this point home number 75 again uh this is great Insight the the statements here from uh Tamara Demko which is the day after the murder which he's talking to the detectives there at the Tallahassee Police Department and uh she basically even as a friend of Wendy she she says that Wendy put Dan through hell for the last year and a half so I thought that was very telling and uh and she said it was very strangest she never contacted me being a mutual friend and uh she had uh went over to her house there after the memorial service never never called her up never informed her so she had to find out through other sources about Dan's murder so she thought it was very cold and uh and suspicious in a way at the times and so um and she also expressed concern about the grandparents rights for the Markel family so so I think these statements again show there's there's it's this too great a factor for Wendy's benefit that Dan has killed and this is why she signed up to it and wanted to happen her guilty conscience made it to where she didn't want to talk to anybody unless she had to number 76 so when Tamara went to Wendy's house that day all the adelson's there except for Charlie and she said that when he acted fairly calm so I thought that was a little bit odd she did say that Donna acted appropriate but Harvey acted very strange could not look her in the eye and uh was acting suspicious and there was some other friend there that was constantly hovering around Wendy's heard of guarding her so this thing just seemed not right and I think a good follow-up would be to ask these Witnesses about the prosecutor was there any sense of fear like there's about to be another gunfire coming through the door are people um you know covering up the blind so people can't be seen to be shot from the street and stuff like that so it just it just seemed um from from what she described the police didn't ask it it just seemed like it would have been a good follow-up was did they act like they were scared of of more hits coming there it is where the killers were they were on their way down to Florida right and they supposedly said they asked for police protection and it was denied that's why I decided to flee to Miami on Monday but if they really were worried about police protection they they probably would have their own private security at this event or not had it at her house they would have had it maybe at some other location so it did none of this adds up to to something that innocent people would do number 77. this three days after the head is it's just so bizarre that you would want to leave and the boys would be upset um and then you don't you don't want to be around for police questions so it just all looks like you're all you have something to hide um and the fact that her parents wouldn't uh talk to the police or Charlie it's just all it's all something that as a prosecutor to my ears to be perked up and then when you consider what um was said about the Hitman comment Charlie had looked into hiring hit man that's the first thing ought to be done been doing is looking um on the interstate system see what what a car fit the description and the time frame that we know about for the Hitman involved in this case number 78. this is something that Jeff Lacoste said that Wendy had switched your phone um days after the murder because uh she thought the police had bugged it so what kind of innocent person would want to uh switch out their their phone uh one that they gave to the police as a as uh because they're so innocent they give up the phone but then they want to change their um their phone because they're consist suspicious of the police bugging it so it just didn't add up to something else innocent person yeah when when someone in your family even an ex is murdered you don't change your phones if you're innocent why would you worry about the police bugging you even if they wrongly thought you were such like why would you care exactly number 79. this is uh another interesting thing because motive is also money related in most murder cases and here this is definitely uh something that's uh money money is a key issue as well and Wendy was calling up the life insurance company for Dan to find out if she was a benefactor and yet if you think about this play this off against the fact that Wendy said she was so upset over the murder that she couldn't eat for weeks and threw up the first time she ate with her brother Charlie so which is it you're calling insurance trying to get money and then you're so upset you can't eat those things don't swear and I think that also leads the jury to conclude um that that she was uh focused on the money and moving on from Dan Markell and and living life for the better in Miami number 80 Carl Wendy had misled the court on why um the markels were not allowed visitation she tried to say that the the markells were trying to put the boys into foster care this only came up as an issue in case when you an event Wendy was arrested she wanted to make sure that uh the markells and and and Ruth Markel specifically wanted to make sure the boys had uh the proper home to go to and not some random home off Street there was a there's like some kind of a relief uh organization that would provide help uh provide care for the boys until they can make more future plans so I just thought that was um that was another one of her many lies in court that just it just showed how how much deception she has and and everything she says and her capability of Cruelty towards the markels who were just wanting to see the boys right number 81. Charlie supposedly the protector so much that Wendy describes him as and yet he never showed up to comfort her or the or his nephews after this murder so I thought that was very telling why wouldn't he be there to console his sister so did he also know she's gonna leave right away so all this feeds into the fact of planning and they're planning their exit strategy out of Tallahassee number 82. this is one that was very odd too that the that they were able to leave on that Monday I mean this all the trauma and stress of this whole thing who'd want to up and leave right away and if if they did think that there was any fear of another hit I mean the police said there was no indications of that happening and so and why would they hire some security uh squad or something like that to be outside their house you're worried about moving when you when you have all the shock and grief to try to process all that and put the boys through it it just doesn't make any sense well plus um after they did the road trip downtown Miami they'd still be in touch with the police because of their fear of these killers they were not they would not break off all contact with the police and that's exactly what they did they weren't worried about it because we all know who was involved and they knew who was involved so that that explains it well uh Point number 83. this is something that Jeff Acosta described was he was like essentially a co-parent for six months and for Wendy never to contact him for the first couple weeks after the murder he just thought was really strange he said he would've been tucking the boys in every night for six months and yet he doesn't um have so much of uh you know hey would you want to come see see the boys or say something to boys or do you want to can can I just tell you what happened so just to be that cold and and uh and distance from Jeff Lacoste who comes across as such a great guy um I think that'd be normal for anybody to do if they're truly a victim it had nothing to do with this and he actually talks about uh you know her acting like a a sociopath in her behavior for this so I thought that was really really telling and then again he says that the ease at which she lies is very very disturbing and that's a great assessment because I because I agree with that and I think a jury would as well even said at one point in front of a jury she lies about lying sometimes right I remember that one so number 84. I I think it again shows how cold and and Cal she was enough that killing Dan was not not that big a deal to her he said that she was most upset that she could not give a new student commencement speak speech to a big group of uh students there at FSU because her lawyer said it was against um against their good judgment about her getting up in front of um the public so um and if you look at Wendy's book on the first two pages it actually is something that the the university put out that discussed this uh commencement speech that was scheduled for 24 August so for her to be upset about that and um and uh it just it's just very very disturbing and troubling indeed number 85. this is one that uh just didn't sit well with me that Wendy doesn't want to see what's going on in the follow-up to who killed Dan she says that her attorney told her not to look at any of the social uh or news postings about the murder case so she basically is using her lawyer's excuse not to follow up and help find out who solved it or maybe to listen information and get more information to the police on who could have possibly done this so she's just completely checked out wants something to do with it and it provides a good cover for her to to deflect again once once again and act like a victim exactly number 86 Jeff Lacoste in describing her keep in mind he has a psychology and sociology background he says there's a public charismatic Persona to Wendy and there's also a very private persona and he said he was so rattled by trying to deal with her and these two personas that he spent two thousand dollars his own money trying to uh know how to deal with her and the counselor indeed said he had concerns about him dating a sociopath so I think that's very telling was also odd about what he said was that Wendy lies all the time but then yet she also admitted that she lies all the time and then she has no guilt or empathy and she also says she never makes mistakes she won't own up to mistakes so just a lot of a lot of bizarre stuff that he was dealing with there and he also said he was cast under her spell he thought that Wendy definitely was at least an accessory of sorts but not the trigger puller so this is somebody who's dating her and in love with her so he's saying this to the police after he's sort of like it all sunk in that he realized how much he'd been played number 87. this is something that uh shows a she was conscious of the fact that visitation would be important to markels with Dan being murdered and that continued on for some time although it doesn't sound like it was very uh robust type of communication with uh the markels and the two boys but what's interesting is that it's suddenly abruptly stopped once uh that the two Heaven were arrested and that became newsworthy number 87. if you look at Wendy's behavior in court you'll find a recurring theme of how she's fighting back to the questions of the various attorneys and deflecting um comments that are made that indicate anything positive about her and Dan even just mentioning a whirlwind romance um that the attorney Chris Lacoste mentioned in his cross-examination of her she didn't even want to admit to that so I just thought that was another sign of her resentment towards Dan even even given the fact this is like years later after his death the hatred's still there number 89. this is again um indications that she has no interest you could tell by her demeanor in court everything about her just spells that I don't have any interest in Dan's murder ever being caught and prosecuted I just want to get on with my life who cares that my boy's dad was murdered that this is that kind of like vibe that she gives off and something very much uh a jury would pick up on as well if she doesn't testify is does a statement like this can it still come into court from her previous testimony or is that only if they uh charge her with perjury how does that work well she was under an immunity for her Court testimony but if they charge her with perjury then they would be that would be something that they could bring in um but there has to be material lies that she um that they would accuse her of and I think there's enough material points she made in her testimony that that would easily be met so if I was a prosecutor I would be bringing in her uh previous Court testimony even though it was under uh those limitations of immunity uh because I think I could easily prove that she was lying even her just saying it's not my job to solve the case I mean she just has no interest whatsoever in making sure Justice happens for Dan and the boys yeah I think that statement if that ever gets in front of the jury that she's in front of is is really really bad right number 90. uh there's like a six year Gap where Wendy denied the uh Markel grandparents visitation and uh that's such an extreme um amount of Cruelty to the boys and lack of respect for Dan and the entire Mark Cal family up in Canada and uh so I either thought that was so disturbing and again again shows that she does not care that the entire Martel Markell family is wiped out from the the being involved in the boys lives that's just so cruel no she's intent on burning down the entire family tree in my opinion right number 91 this goes to show that um well I guess we just talk about that point it goes the entire family tree and so um this is uh something that healthy parents would want to make sure happens that the loss of a parent is not going to end the family tree um engagement and relationships so think of all the love that the boys could get from the entire Markel family tree and they could learn about their dad and all that kind of stuff so I would submit that Dan has never mentioned in the home and so I think that really is something that uh it'll make the boys later on realize that yeah they there's something really odd about the adelson's never talking about Dan and trying to Shield us from having any contact with them number 92. um this whole thing about changing the name last name of the boys Adelson and dropping the mark hell name is just very disturbing um jurors are just going to be so so angry about hearing this I would say that um they're going to think that this is something that indicates the cruel um nature of Wendy and how much she wanted Dan out of her life and again it's part of the winning the lottery everything great happened for her setup when she killed Dan and the the legal name change happened about a year later so it would have taken some months beforehand to make up actual Court filing and my understanding is uh from some uh folks that reached out to me that she actually changed the name of the boys that fall once she already had them enrolled in uh daycare or whatnot uh preschool down there in Miami so just another sign that the cold calculated cruelty um that was um that was evident and in the way she thought of Dan one final way to kill off the Markel family tree from ever growing further down the line number 94. there's a different Avenues of funds that Wendy definitely showed interest in after Dan was murdered and so she was trying to stick her hands into everything including the GoFundMe um account that Tamara Demco had set up so for her to even go after that uh claiming she was the Widow of Dan that's what I understand had happened it's just very very troubling and again it goes to show Motive that she was looking to be set up financially by the killings and um and this is part of that as well very dirty the way she plays number 95. the fact that Wendy when she's being interviewed by detective Ison makes Jeff Lacoste a prime suspect and yet she never confronts him I thought this was very odd because if she really thought he had been the one behind killing the boys dad then why would she confront him or invite him over or maybe stage something where there'd maybe be uh some kind of undercover wire or something but obviously he was not having anything to do with it so number 96. the way Wendy acted in court again is just so troubling as a as a trial attorney to see this as a prosecutor I I would want to bring this out in front of the jury any way I possibly could the more you see when he talked the more a juror is going to be comfortable convicting her and saying she's not going to be arrested the way she laughed and smiled and acted arrogant about it it's just so it's just so telling that uh she's a cold enough person to do the murders I think is what a what a juror would conclude one thing I noticed Carl is that when she's got extreme anger towards the questioner that's when she fakes that smile because she only does that when it's a really piercing question towards her that's when she'll fake that smile that's the pattern I've seen and she also will blink her lies a lot and flutter eyes so yeah there's other body language and I think those are on some of the slides coming up here that are very telling all right number 97. when he claims she couldn't remember how much they had taken out of the accounts and Investments and stuff like that so this is all done before the divorce filing behind Dan's back so it's again exploitation of the marital assets and she was using this to um get Dan out of her life and she was gonna do everything by Pearl Harbor tactics number 98. the general Persona of Wendy at the trial was that of no interest in the outcome if you look at it look at her the way she's being snarky with her responses some of the laughing and smiling she's talking about the deflection and redirecting of the question and then you look at the uh the way she's looking at the jury when the attorneys are discussing a sidebar with the judge the way she's looking at the jury with these big eyes and and and then fluttering her eyelashes of the jury that is going to be very um very interesting how um a jury would pick up on that and they don't like that and so she thought that they would like it but she's not a trial attorney so she didn't know that interacting I would submit it's just more rehearsals an attempt to look innocent and another thing I didn't notice that um that she ever had a demeanor like normally a victim comes in there you can tell there's tension between them and the the person that's accused of killing their loved one um and so there was never that tension there in fact if you look at how she's asked to identify Katie on the uh as a uh the person that she knows as as Katie mcbanwa she was very uncomfortable even doing that as almost as like a form of like she's being disloyal to a co-conspirator by identifying her in courts all that is very telling to me as a trial attorney that that um there's obviously something very very connected between both Katie and her during that trial session and that's something that the jury would pick up on number 99 I thought this was uh something that um is also telling as well how would the Hitmen know that they had to get the job done before Dan left town Dan was scheduled to leave out of town for New York for so for the Hitman to know that there was an urgency of the job what better Source than Wendy we haven't seen them say that directly but that's something that maybe uh Katie will be able to to bring forth inner proffers okay Carl this is number 100. there's a big difference in the way Wendy testified putting the the first trial with Katie in the second trial the first one she talks about how she's 90 even being on trescott whatsoever um and never drive to the crime scene because she was actually she drove the crime scene and so she placed herself not even on Truscott but yet claims she could see uh some activity or some blockage that she assumed was something have to do with downed trees right then you go to the next Slide the next slide um it depicts what she talked about the second trial of Katie where she talks about being blocked by police cars and then had to turn around this proves that Wendy was only a couple of houses away from the very house that she used to live in and where Dan and her boys lived and where Dan was killed just an hour earlier and so for her to do 180 out of there or just it shows complete um lack of regard for the boys the Dan as any normal person would act because she it was that an actual crime scene inspection there's no other conclusion I think a reasonable juror would make so um this this is huge and this is the kind of thing that a prosecutor is definitely going to emphasize in his arguments to the jury that this this right here is proof pot is positive that she was involved in the killing that's right what she called a blockage was really a group of it was four to five police cars with the police car directly in front of her that she stopped in front of with its lights on and crime scene crime scene tape so she pulled up to the scene of the crime the the police officer that testified and said that he was about 100 to 200 feet from Dan markell's driveway and Dan markell's driveway was visible so she was busted she was placed right there at the scene of the crime within about an hour after the murder of Dan and keep in mind also there's all those speed bombs for the so-called shortcuts so it was definitely going out of her way to make sure what happened I think she was frustrated because she probably thought what is what does my brother doing he's got these bumbling fools from Miami they can't even schedule a hit on time and uh so it's definitely it definitely one of the great indicators that a prosecutor would be making to show indications of guilt and again it shows her desperation the fact that she couldn't sit on her hands for two hours or three hours until the news got back to her she had to go out there this this is her State of Mind in a nutshell she was desperate okay number one zero one excuse me one zero two we talked about this earlier she claimed to be Dan's Widow to the folks trying to claim the GoFundMe uh donations I don't know how much that was but it just goes to show that she was grabbing everything she could from whatever Source she could to uh try to make out better financially that's right number 103. this is one that Wendy had never contacted their mutual friend um Tamara Demko after the murder we we'd mentioned that earlier so she's the oldest and closest friend to Dan they actually went to uh first year law school through final year law school together at Harvard and this is something that uh which just did not make any sense that she'd have to show up to the house and find out from other means rather than finding out from Wendy their mutual friend number one zero four this is this is a really small data point here that one even tries to make herself goes to show she tries to make herself this Victim Because you talk about being interrogated for eight hours on her podcast when obviously she was not interrogated she was interviewed and and uh did the right amount of acting to uh to be given a victim Advocate number 105. there's a lot of uh disturbing issues involving Wendy's behavior and regarding the boys and their um the efforts to email them so even something like a simple how are the boys doing she's not able to get response back on for a number of years so is the amount of extreme control that the adelsons have over the boys to keep the markels out of their life and this is part and parcel when something happens to somebody that murders a parent they want the entire family away but they're just like you've said before they're not they're not smart criminals because you think they could at least fake it to uh act like the the that they're victims of uh Dan's death as well for the sake of the boys but but they can't the other thing is a lot of times if there's emails being asked about the boys how do you know the boys even were told the grandma or Grandpa sent an email and they want to know how are you so you know what would you like to say to Grandma and stuff like that or get given to the boys sent to them VIA mail yeah just just not responding to that kind of stuff just just shows again the cruelty and the uh eradication of the Markel influence on the boys number 106. this is uh trust fund baby language that her brother Charlie used when uh on wire Taps the police had intercepted this it also shows that um she again her the motives for this murder was that she got instant freedom to evacuate go to Miami and you know when you look at just the Social Security aspects alone she was able to what I calculated be at least two million dollars when he when you look at how much she was received since uh the Dan's death to the time that each of the boys turn 18 that'll be um approximately two plus million dollars that she will have to rely on besides the other money that she got from whether it be the university fund set up for Dan's protection event he died and as well as the uh the other funds involved such as the uh the life insurance proceeds where she was not a name beneficiary but the boys were and so the boys would get I I assume some kind of support as well um based on the the trust guidelines so it's funny to mention this but Charlie was absolutely right when talking about Wendy as a trust fund baby because she really was right number one 07. the amount of lies that Wendy has told in these uh two trials is it's just astounding really her behavior is just really reprehensible as uh as uh someone who claims to be innocent so to say that these legally filings were not a big deal to her that is such a blatant lie because if if someone was coming after your bar license in your job like like Dan was about to at least make allegations I could have amounted to that I think it struck so much fear in her and then also um like we talked about earlier Donna's mom um Donna her mom having the uh the uh potential to have no time alone with the boys to be able to influence them that was that was something where to use her kind of words it's like nobody's won against the adle sins so this was scorched Earth um and the uh killing to their to their um from their standpoint work beautifully up until the uh the two Hitmen got arrested and from there everything changed number 108. by when you're wearing the same outfit exact same outfit in both trials it just goes to show how calculating she is she knows she's going to be filmed this was live proceedings televised there by the Tallahassee Democrat and also that they had a lot of YouTube postings uh there's so many of them out there I think it's another thing she did to make people think it's the same old same old uh testimony don't worry about it another way to not catch your inner lies and have people commenting about her life so I think that this goes to show how strategic she is and I've seen other comments from uh from folks that follow this case to uh have that same Viewpoint as well and I think some people on the jury will have the same view as well it's just one of those other bizarre things in this case right all right Carl number 109. fact that the boys had never been to Canada to see their relatives up there is this very astounding and troubling and uh they've never been to Dan's grave and they never went to his memorial service up there so it's just reeks of uh discussed and uh and sadness that these boys are not seeing that uh part of part of Dan's extended family that's right number 110. something that's also part of the same cruelty not acknowledging the gifts from the markels not even the common decency and do that what does it hurt you to say thank you for the wonderful gifts for the boys that really liked them um it's just it just really speaks to pathology more than anything and by the way a Shameless book plug if you haven't read Ruth markell's book it's called the unveiling I'll pick it up on Amazon hardcover or audible it's a great book and really gets in the details of of what she had to deal with in the whole Markel family had to deal with and it really shock your senses and make you realize how cold cruel and calculating uh these adelson's minus Robert are number 111. this is a good data point to show the cruelty and punishing the boys and want to keep the markels away as soon as the Hitmen were arrested she wants the uh she disinvites the markels from attending the bar mitzim that's a huge thing for um for Jewish culture and their faith and so to deny that from the markels is just utterly disgusting and I think it's going to come back to bite him with a jury that if a jury hears about that it's going to be all along with these other data points to show that that uh Dan's death was not uh something out of Wendy's control but she was in directly direct charge of it yeah I think they'll be able to show that they didn't just want to race Dan himself they wanted to race the entire Markel family off the face of the Earth No Doubt number 112. another disturbing aspect of the way the uh the surviving markels were treated are that the visitations to the grandparents Phil and Ruth um they're pretty much cut off until the time that when he has testifying cord then she'll start opening it back up again to look like well whatever disagreements we had and personality conflicts that was resolved and now the boys can see the grandparents gown but then as soon as the trial Testament is over with then she's they're shut off again so the the boys are giving this yo-yo treatment so you look at this as sort of a pattern for the way she treats people can totally punch him out of her life so whether it's Dan or Jeff or the boys having access to markel's it all shows a Sinister pattern of hatred and cruelty well and why not any overnights why not say hey it's Thursday afternoon you can have the boys through tomorrow or Saturday right she was there the entire time always hovering like a helicopter above the boys and I think I know Wise to make sure that Ruth didn't tell any thing to the boys any nuggets of truth about uh the past or anything like that it was it was again more of her instrument of control yeah over situations and the boys and everything well think about it and then Ruth probably is on eggshells know not to bring up Dan so because she's bringing up Dan then she'll probably have more difficult visitation so it's just a really sick sick thing that they did and uh the poor uh Markel grandparents had to negotiate that this is another key indicator to show that Wendy was involved because she was frantic when uh Ruth told her that they've made a rest on the on the killers of Dan and so um instead of being elated she was just trying to find the details and all that kind of stuff because she's worried that you know maybe she's hearing about the police going after her or Charlie or something like that so and she never showed any interest before who who done it before the rest were made and then obviously she never talks about it now afterwards at least publicly she's not saying she's interested so it all just shows suspicious guilty behavior on the part of her and the rest of the uh adelson's number 114. all right this one has to do with Wendy being evasive so much in court that even when they were asking her about what's the name of her dad's business she mentioned it is like almost like a question Dr Harvey Adelson DDS sort of like a question mark and then um Georgia had us mentioned the Adelson Institute and then when Wendy acknowledges at that point so even just a little things like that this is a data point to show how much she's uh being evasive and lying in court and then and look at her mannerisms as well and to include her uh Smiles as well as her eye movement her eye closings depending what question is making her feel uncomfortable number 115 Carl all right this uh data point shows how calculating Wendy is and that we've heard about all the denial visitation and the contacts and the thank yous and and whatnot that's denied to the Markel grandparents but notice this here when Wendy knows she's being a subpoenaed for court then she reaches out to Ruth and offers up visitation for the boys so I just thought that was very peculiar that it just goes to show her uh deception phoniness and the amount of uh efforts you will into do this yo-yo effect with the grandparents as well as her boys all to secure her own benefits it's all to make her look good right before trial number 116. she won't even admit that her mother despises Dan and did despise Dan because she said that she was treated by Dan but then you compare that with Donna's emails and you can see Donna called Dan and uh referred to Dan and a lot of ways that were derogatory so I won't repeat those but it's it's it's let's just say it's very clear she she cannot stand him and hates them and this is even after Wendy knows that the jury is going to see the emails from Donna that are just laced with just pure anger and she can't even admit that on the stand she will not it's calculating she will not admit the obvious right all right number 117. this is a foot stomp just the fact that the kids have never been alone with the grandparents since a day Dan died they have never been able to be alone with their grandkids and that is just so cruel and heartless number 118. uh this is just to highlight that Wendy does not ever glare at uh Katie and Court from what I could gather and that's something that juries pick up on that they're always looking for the interaction who's making eye contact with whom and and what kind of tension is there and you don't see any tension at all it looks like Wendy's there to uh to be the star of the show I think she's sitting there going looking at Katie going you dumb bozos how could you have gotten me into this position right now you idiots look what you guys messed up you and Charlie so I I think she's um I think she's whatever we can have different opinions on that but I think all jurors are going to come to conclusion that there's something not right with her being a victim and and uh her interaction in front of Katie definitely number 119. this is another little thing that just goes to show that Wendy will not be honest where she acts like she knows nothing about the details of Charlie's life to include what kind of uh car he drives is is his most prized Joy the Ferrari so and yet she tells that to Jeff Lacoste is this another indication of the degree of deception and dishonesty all right number 120 Carl all right this one here is just a reminder of how Wendy got rattled when she was asked to identify Katie in court it almost seemed like she was um asked to portray her co-conspirator so if you look at that you'll just pick up on something very odd about the behavior again it indicates that these two acted in concert number 121. again another obvious thing here that Wendy um won't even admit that her mom is very controlling and you compare that with the emails where it's talking about Hitler Youth and the fake Catholic conversion so just just won't admit the obvious uh for some odd reason and then again it just shows that that they have so much to hide number 122. this one shows the level of denial visitation was so disgusting and offensive that the Florida legislature actually created a law nickname the Markell Grandpa Presentation Act to make sure that they're not victimized by people like the Adelson so that's just very very telling to the extreme hatred and cruelty that they have towards Dan and the boys that's right 123. overall just to sum up Wendy's behavior in court nothing indicates Wendy's a helpless victim in this whole process but it she's actually very tough calculating very controlling very structured and how she's planned out her her answers and it's just part of her whole mentality of of her trying to cover her tracks from her involvement with this murder number 124. these are some of the data points to indicate some of the areas where Wendy would not even admit the obvious and how she was deceiving the cord so I won't read these over but you can see these are obviously additional indicators of how much she was lying and we've gotten out to our final point point number 125. this is something that I thought was very very telling of how much she hated Dan and the boy's life and wanted him out of her life because in the last trial when she's asked that the boys she had two boys as a product of the marriage she would even say yes she restated and redirected the question to say are you asking me if I have two boys and then she acknowledged the two boys so she wouldn't admit that the two boys are a product of the marriage and this is like this happened this past year and so for her not to be able to acknowledge that I thought was just so extremely odd and it's just again it's speaking to the uh the bizarre behavior and the cruelty towards Dan and the kids they'll this family do anything to try to remove the connection to their dad and if you look at her testimony she's making references and digs to Dan they're just totally inappropriate and again just reveal the hatred animosity she has towards him even years later after his death yeah thanks so these are not exhaustive these are what Carl came up with over the last few weeks so please in the comments below if you have some additional ones please add them we're always learning new details about this case
