Lecture on Parashat Korach

[Music] [Music] [Music] Shalom Alim everybody Welcome Home to Torah a warm welcome home to Torah we in the the ER mid I just longed to say the back in the i m and the war will finally be over anyway in the meantime welcome back and we are in the um paraa called korak and for those who are familiar we use the clear for the basis of our discussion fantastic push commentary written 450 years ago and you'll see how relevant it is and um for those who want to follow us in the Hebrew you can find the sheets there's a link below in the description box I also want to mention there are previous classes which I do highly recommend one watch or study um just to catch up on the paraa because what we do is we usually deal with one or two verses we don't cover the whole paraa so uh through the many years that we've been doing this class we cover a lot of the par so first of all I want to W welcome everybody that's here and wish everyone AES toes also I understand that today is July 4th in the United States and of course it may be the last but it's still still something to be uh to celebrate uh for the thankfulness of theid that Medina art the United States of America has provided a refuge for the Jews over our long dark Exile they've been very mind and we don't know how long that is going to last nothing in Exile lasts forever because we belong here in the meantime I want to pray especially for the unity of the Jewish people this is one of the most important things and that will bring us to Victory that's the only thing that will bring us to Victory is the unity of of the people and our relationship with KES I want to also mention also the shim here are open for dedications we have a our learning tonight will be in the for and for the AL of Danel Ben not only will not Ben zil have a complete Ru and a quick R but the the holy Nish of Daniel benar will be uplifted through our Torah learning so we're on P page T TV that would be 615 in the clear and we're dealing with chapter 16 we're actually halfway through the clear on this particular PK which is the first pk the first verse where it begins by saying that korak is the son of Yar the son of kohat the son of Ley so in Hebrew took himself he separated himself okay he we're going to talk about this uh but who is he what is his name so his name is just not just korak but he's the son of so and so who's the son of so and so who's the son of so and so and all these names are of holy people by the way however because of korak he himself misused his potential and I'm going to say misused uh through envy and jealousy now all those names could have been and they in essence they really are truly good but he used them for the bad in other words he used the gift that go God gave him uh through free choice and he made the wrong decisions he made bad decisions but we're going to discuss his names and how the names reflect his character now in if take notice that it does not say he's the son of Yakov it should have said and it certainly could have said that korak is benar benat Ben Le benov or benel we actually see that in Chronicles a few times so we're going to get to that but that's one of the first things that we're going to notice also at the end we understand that he took many of the descendants of Ruan with him as I like to say that misery loves company so he's miserable and he needs allies so he as a charismatic figure that he is is going to use flattery and enticing to people who are also in pain in bitterness uh as the um we're talking about bitter of Soul Morin neish okay so he took other people who might have a claim so let's start with the clear the first thing he notices it's an observation that he will then un you know unravel and unfold and solve for us and that isov in the verse he is not considered he's not render Ed in the uh the um the explaining who he is uh the son of yakob and surely he is right Le is one of yakov's sons and yet the um ancestry stops at Ley it does not continue to Yakov and the clear explains Ruan he was enticing them he was using flattery he's actually quite a hypocrite he says things in many cases a flatterer says things they don't mean in this case he probably did mean it though so it was more of an enticing this is what he said in a way of enticing or flattering I I myself don't feel attached and related to Yakov our forefather and he's trying to entice the Ru the children or the the tribe of Ru and he says so much ASO can you imagine a Jew saying I don't want any portion of Israel I don't want a portion of Yakov my forefather because he is the one who removed who took the firstborn status away from Ruan right cuz Ruan was let's just say like this we're not going to get into it's not today's topic that he switched the beds of his father and um his father was not happy about that so that was a a sin and also in the uh in the sale of Yakov there was a certain amount of responsibility there anyway therefore the verse leaves Yakov out it doesn't relate to the fact that he also descends from y of now tell us in gorah San hedin now you'll find this the truth is I want to um I want to read some of these rashis as a to give you some background so in chapter 16 verse1 so it mentions and we're going to discuss this that he attracted the heads of the Sanhedrin among them with amicable words in other words he used enticement also keep in mind that um it say it doesn't mention Yakov right the verse does not mention that he's the son of Yakov because Yakov actually prayed and we're going to see this too not to be mentioned in connection with the quarrel with what quarrel with the quarrel of uh we're going to call it the mocus of of korak with mosenu and what did he say in 496 which I think you'll find in number three on the sore sheet that that yov prayed and this was in the blessing to Shimon and Ley now we just think usually of Ley in this case because of the quarrel that this B korak had with mosha but also Yakov prayed not to be involved with with um with zimri with the uh we're going to talk about right now in that in that Rashi um there was the midianite woman that was right the the man from shimo named Cosby who was fornicating with a non-jewish woman in public and Pinas comes and skewers them um so that's not really not for now but he also prayed not to be involved in their in their in that incident as well okay so back in that Rashi which is very important so and where is his name mentioned in connection with korak in other words how do we know of course we know that that korak is from Yakov so I mentioned in 1 Chronicles chapter 6 verse 22 as well as 23 the genealogy of Ben korak right korak had sons who did Chua and did not get swallowed up in the ground they escaped from that uh tragedy and um they were here it says in 1 Chronicles where their genealogy is traced to the service of the Levites on the platform of the Temple Le where it says who they were the sons of korak the son of Yar the son of kohat the son of Ley and then it says the son of Israel who is Yakov also keep in mind what Y what Rashi says is that the tribe of Ruan was in the south in other words not the south of AR Israel but in the south of the encampment around the m m so in other words the Lev the Kim were in the middle but still they were divided by families and so Ruan which was the main um there were there were three tribes on the South but Ru was the main tribe on the south and the closest one just north of them to the center in the M was kahat okay another thing and I want to mention it now while we're in this Rashi the very bottom it says what did he do what exactly did he do he went out this is korak he went out and he assembled 2 50 men the truth is he didn't just have 250 then he took as the PK says he took dasan and Ai and on Ben pellet so he actually took three additional people so the the Rashi explains these were men's of men of San hedin so you just read that rash you say okay they were important people they might have been righteous but so most of them were from the tribe of Ruan particularly as neighbors so so why is this significant we're going to see okay hang in there we're going to see go back into now the clear we started it's third line down where we say kazal tell us in gor San hedin and this is in 109b you can find this in Source number two uh let's read it let's read it the Hebrew first so it says what does it mean that korak took the K what did he take so what I usually think of the word K is ice that he made the word made the world cold and we discussed this but really looking at the gamor more carefully it means that he like it's from also baldness cuz he removed like when you you when you give a crew cut or a haircut where you make someone bald you're removing the hair so we're going to translate the word he brought a removal into the world he did something he made a void into the world and we're going to see what that means but if you want to even translate it as cold like my friend dear friend Yehuda brought me dinner tonight said like even if you want to translate as cold if you take God out of the picture is what he actually was trying to do then you're basically making the world a colder place because we all know that Hashem loves the world and he loves us and therefore if you remove him you're like removing the love okay so that works just as well what about the name Ben now what we're doing we're just going to read the gor but we're going to go in depth so when it says benitar there's some aspect of heating up now this heating up has to do with the wrath of God actually so when we talk about you know uh in the different words for anger we're talking about heat so when it says her he heated up the world world like it is at High Noon and what about Ben Ley the name Ben Ley he made a whole escort and Entourage towards geham like I said in the beginning when you have names and these names everyone has a name right everyone was born and their parents gave them a name so the name is your mission doesn't mean that's your essence but it means you it's giving you some insight he misused this insight and he actually failed in his mission because each one of these names could have had the opposite effect it's not written in fate you know in concrete that he had to end up doing all these negative things but the clear wants to know the way the sorry the gore wants to know Nami Ben Yakov well wasn't he the son of yov shouldn't have said that and that he was what also using Yakov in a negative way the word eave is like crooked or Twisted so he or deceived himself right it wasn't straight what he did for himself and went straight to geham so the gorah says that Yakov was be Yakov himself prayed and sought for himself in order that him so that he would not be considered with them and we'll see right now in Genesis 49:6 which you'll find on your s sheet it's number uh three we looked at it briefly already let my soul not enter their C their counsel so when we say that that's referring to the spies by the way um and my honor you shall shall not enter I'm sorry in my honor uh Yakov is praying you shall not join their assembly that he he wouldn't want to join korak's uh assembly in the Rashi he mentions right away that also this future incident of Zim when the tribe of shiman because remember this this prayer this statement is made when Yakov is blessing both Shimon and Ley when the tribe of Shimon gathered to bring the midianite test before mosha that's a non-jewish woman and what was her name you have Cosby and Zim right so Zim is the male the Jewish male Cosby is the non-jewish woman and they said to him right is this one forbidden or permitted if you sh if you say she's forbidden whoever permitted you to marry isro's daughter okay we're not going to go into that right now but he prayed not to be part of their um uh conspiracy and there when it mentions about uh Zim it doesn't mention that he's the son of Yakov so it's also missing from his ancestry um by the way when korak who is the tribe of Ley assembles the whole congregation against Moses and Aon that's when that was said um their assembly fine my name shall not join them this is what he prayed meaning the korak the son of Yar the son of kahat the son of Ley it doesn't say the uh the U the sons of Yakov but later on in Chronicles as well first Chronicles chapter 7:22 it mentions that korak the children of korak are the sons of Yar the sons of Kat the sons of Ley okay let's go back into the clear it's fascinating what he just said and now we're going to go on the last verse he mentioned was then 40 496 within their conspiracy my soul should not enter and within their assembly my honor should not be joined in now according to the simple explanation ifov was somehow Associated that would not bring honor to jakov's name because then people would and we're going to discuss how it's possible would would um he would be accounted his name would be accounted uh for for a negative in other words his name would be drugged through the mud if his name was associated with all these things we just mentioned such as first of all Shimon tribe of shimo Zim with um korak and even with the Morag Okay so here we go therefore he requested that his name would not be brought into this uh these these these occasions up until now that's one idea means alternatively or another level in order that people will not say because if his name was Associated people might come up with the following idea that those character traits that these people are acting on in this case korak you know why he has or carries this character trait because he he received it like through the DNA or through the her Heritage of Yakov and what was Yakov known for Al right didn't Yakov have a I'm going to say legitimate complaint not every complaint is legitimate he had some kind of legitimate complaint or complaint regarding that ASA had the firstborn status what was his main complaint that asov didn't even cherish it he didn't value it and the proof of the pudding was that he sold it for for for for parriage hu alun so once you have a yako figure who's arguing on the firstborn status that would be the same thing as korak arguing on the Kahuna which he wanted to be the K he wanted to be the first or the highest or the the most you know powerful person at the time because what who had the status of serving in the temple before aam was chosen before the tribe of Ley was chosen it was the first born okay so his claim was really similar to yob and then what what do we say people would say that where did K learn this from he received this idea from Yakov to make um to make a complaint on the Kahuna now we spoke in the Rashi about Zim Zim and Cosby Z what would they say if Yakov hadn't prayed that his name would not be Associated also with the rebels within Shimon say that they also received right least Zim and perhaps the people closest to him that egged him on that they received this um character trait this negative character trait from yov that he married he took two sisters to be wives now according to the Torah I don't know how immoral but it's certainly forbidden it's called incest it's somehow forbidden for a man to marry two sisters at the same time right okay so what do you have here that we're just going to call it sexual immorality so since they could look back and say our forefather Yakov he viated the Torah in a sexual manner that was deviant from the Torah so too Zim then people would say that Zim inherited such bad character traits from Yakov so Yakov didn't want his name associated with Z therefore korak was only um you know related so to speak and we're going to call him a canai in this sense even though Kai usually means a zealot it also means jealousy and Envy so we're going to call him korak the envious one only went up until Ley came the ysep because ysep also I'm sorry um um Ley also had some aspect of jealousy towards ysep in what way so so number he was part of the conspiracy to sell ysep he was part of the conspiracy of speaking lushan har against ysep so he was on some level envious of ysep so that's how far it goes the the jealous korak the ancestry goes up until Ley because there is some aspect of that bad character coming into K from Ley according to way the cleard is explaining it and this is just the first paragraph he says up until now you have to understand that everything we said this whole statement really requires clarification because the first thing we said was that he brought k k into the world so what is the Cara what is this hidden thing or this cold nature that he brought into the world and also another question was how did he make the world hot again we don't know that it's anger but what exactly did the words mean that we expressed in the very beginning in gar St hedin 109b according to the hint that's within the verse itself aside from the statement that we mentioned the had mentioned there is place or space to explain the names each one of these names in a unique or separate way or even a different way than we just mentioned above first of all we have to know when we're daring when we're learning a verse on deeper levels you never escape the actual I'm going to call it the pet meaning the actual words themselves and what they mean on a very simple uh um straightforward way right you have to at least explain them as they are without you know what I mean even though you're going to go deeper we don't elude and say the other simple does not exist it still has to exist but after the fact that the Torah does go out of its way and explain CU usually you just say you're so and so been so and so here where we went like three generations therefore what is it showing it's showing us that his name and the name of and the names of his fathers they're actually reflecting and teaching something about the future that he's destined meaning really not that he's destined because his free will but Shamu that he would stand on the possibility of of Bas basically when it says it means like to break through conventional rule to go out of the bounds of common standards okay it literally means to break the fence and he is korak so we have talk about his name again korak okay so what we're saying here is the word korak right then his that's his name and all the names that we mention actually hint about his very claim and his arguments like for example korak it's and that's why I think it's better to use the word removal right there was a removal of hair and we're going to learn in gamorra Stan hedrin 110a you'll see this number four in the sore sheet it's just really one line in the middle I underlined that his wife coro's wife was basically egging him on to um to go against Moshe as opposed to own Ben pellet whose wife did everything to get him out of uh this dilemma so she said you know look what are you going to gain what you you're giving everything over to this guy and not only that if he shears your hair which what that's what happened to Old L when they were going through a inauguration process so he's going to Shear your hair he waves you around as if you are an excrement in other words he's really not treating you very nicely this is what she says to him and it's though he set his sights on your hair he wishes you to be shaven and unsightly so this is the the perfect evil wife right the wife you don't want so she was egging him on and that's what it means in the Fifth Line down in the in the clear car what was she doing she she was she was saying that she's telling her husband that Moses is fooling around with you that he's going to shave you not only are you going to look funny you're going to have no eyebrows you're going to have no hair on your arms you're completely shaven and you're going to look like a fool n so what comes out shos he actually took this claim that his wife gave her when he approaches Moses right his claim was you this to L you're going to do this to us and then we move on because it says benitar right he's also the son of Yar and as my friend Yehuda also mentioned that it's the Lan of sheman usually I looked it up we know it means like a window it means light right it means Clarity it means brightness but what's the fuel the fuel behind it is sheman and wait till you hear this we already mentioned right in the Rashi that there were 250 um people that he took along with him plus three it's important listen to what and he what did he want he wanted the Kahuna he was looking forward to being the K the high priest so what was his main argument on the priesthood itself now when Aon was inaugurated as the high priest they poured oil on him called anointing oil uh shishka and how was the Shem Hamish made look at number five on the sore sheet it's Exodus 30: 23 and Moses tells them you should take for yourselves the spices of the finest sort of pure myrr 500 sheo and on and on and on and at some point you take half of it you have to split it in half what's half of 500 it's easy math 250 okay so that was a a a hint to this idea just to look in the Hebrew Turn the page number three on the top that's the 500 and to split it in half I'm sorry so you have 250 which is half so again what was the question why did he bring what why is he called benitar it refers to the Shem of which was his own claim on the kahun and it invol making something that weighed 500 splitting in half to 250 now there is a period and he goes on he says nevertheless you have to know there's another opinion why this number 250 the reason he took 250 people with him shave it in order to have remember there's only 11 there's only 11 tribes Ley was not counted in this so you have 11 tribes he took 23 people from each tribe which means do the simple math 23 * 11 is 253 how many people did he take 250 he already had three so look at the CL car again four lines up from the bottom kisar hedre Katana enough to have a the number for the small San hedin a large San hedin is 7071 the small sedron is 23 and then when you take those other three into account which you have it's 253 of course you have to exclude except for you had nobody else now according to the way we've been saying you're able to say the following the reason he took this number Mish that if you know he's from his father's tribe from his father's house that is if it's Ben Yar who would be fit to have been um Anointed with the special anointing oil which was half just like Aon was anointed he's claiming he would have he should have been Anointed with that same oil that was only the weight of 250 and that's why he took 250 people now why is he called Ben kahat so there's a language in the PK the PK is in Genesis 49:10 in 4910 um the word kahat has a connotation of a gathering it's a verb as well as a noun so let's see in this case it is a well let's see it says here in Genesis 49:10 it's number six on the sheet the scepter shall not depart from Yehuda nor the student of the law from between his feet until mesia comes till Shilo comes and then it says and to him will be a gathering of peoples low theow to him shall be gathered or it's either a noun or verb all these peoples Rashi says it clearly that's what it is and therefore we're discussing that word his name is benat and kahat means a gathering you're on the right page so a means a gathering Anda means a gathering an assembly he is the one who gathered them he caused them to gather you see the page it was through his own Spirit or Charisma that gathered them again another word for Gathering them Al mosha the meaning against he he incited them he his flattery and convince them his Charisma to to go against Moshe and Aon and like it says in verse three you can see this in Source number [Applause] 13 it's it's Numbers Chapter 16:3 it says they assembled against Moshe and Aaron Alon against so he was the one that caused that to happen what about Ben Ley that's the latter part of his name like Rashi explains in pares V so the that would be in in um in braet 2934 where do we see that it's number seven on the sore sheet Genesis 6934 so it says and she conceived again and bore a son she said now this time my husband will be attached to me okay so there's something in the rash I wanted to show you it is make sure I turn the page it's at the okay turn the page to Source number Source number seven but it's uh on page four you see it you heard it yeah there's an aut mid in Deuteronomy Raba and div Raba which relates how the Holy One Blessed Be he sent Gabriel an angel and he brought ladyy before him so first of all the very fact that it says L and he he named her who's he that named her was it Yakov I'm sorry that named him that named him Ley so it's interesting because that would make a difference in the English translation if you a capital H or a small H so if was Hashem himself so it says there's antic mid in D rabba where Hashem had sent Gabriel and brought Ley before him and it was he Capital H E who gave him his name and along with that he gave him these future 24 Priestly gifts which will then accompan Ley in other words the word Y is is to associate like an Entourage or to associate and carry like we use for the name of a funeral therefore his name is Ley very important to to to notice because that's what the clear is saying like Rashi explains over there that he was associated with these uh 24 gifts kak Lon now it was these gifts that korak took when he made this complaint against Aon like it's mentioned in the Y and you'll find this number eight on the S sheet so we have the famous verse in Psalms the first verse in all of right amongst the people who mock don't sit don't sit with them the the yak explains this is talking about kak who was mocking mosha Aon and here is the story of the mockery so korak says to them listen I have an old lady who is a widow she's in my neighborhood she has two orphan daughters you know what she only owns one field you know she comes to plow it and Moses comes over to her and says you know you can't plow together an ox and a donkey it's against the law it's against the Torah okay so now she she's messed up with the plowing then she comes to sew it and Moses says you know you can't plant this seed and that seed together right that's Kim okay now comes to harvest and Moses says you know there's all these Mitzvah you have to leave the Le the shik and the Pea you have to leave all these parts of the AG you know to the um to the poor so then she comes to gather her produce and Moses tells her you know you have to separate the tithes so you know what she accepts all these laws she concedes to all his demands now she went ahead and sold the field and what did she do she bought two little um uh sheep and you know sheep grows wool she wanted to wear the wool and enjoy the prophets perhaps the milk who knows when they gave birth Aaron came and said hey you have to give me your firstborn of the sheep and just like it says in the Torah okay you know what she agreed she came the sheeps then when the time came to Shear the wool so then Aon says you have to give me the first of your wool as Hashem commanded she says I can't deal with this anymore you know I'm going to do I'm going to slaughter my sheep I'm going to eat them and that'll be the end of it who's going to come to me then and guess what Aron comes there and says you have to give me the forearm the jaw and the stomach the gifts to the Kim she says oh my God even after I slaughter them I'm not free from him so she know what I'm going to do I'm going to give it to the temple I'm going to put well and therefore it becomes Temple property and Aon comes and says now they're all mine Justice hasem can commanded and he took the Sheep he left the Widow and her daughter in tears now the truth is these are all H these are all the things that a owner of sheep a Jewish owner of sheep has to do so on a certain level it's uh it's just reality uh it just reminds me of um something a a anti-semite from the New Testament a Christian might try to say by the Good Samaritan see the Jews are so cold when it came to a non-jew because that's the Samaritans were the non-jews how nice and kind they are where they would end up helping uh but the truth is this is the of course there's rut but I think that we talking about a parable for a reason let's not take it out of context this probably would never have happened people would explain to her how it's done and help the woman uh to get on and you know what I mean that's what Jews do we help each other you want to do Mitzvah we'll help you okay you don't have enough money we'll help you no problem so let's move on so in the Hebrew the simple explanation okay so that's sums up the whole here therefore this whole idea that he took he took that's K took he took this as his complaint what you're taking he also wanted to take this all of them he took for himself in his complaint to strengthen his argument against MOS however mid according to what is quoted in the mid it says K we said it was also that he created a void in the world it seems that the author of The Med wants to get across this idea that K is is actually um arguing on the essence of God on the existence of God like it says now the idea is that he's going to bring proof that the words against arguing against God were used for example in Source number nine in 273 look in Source numbers 273 the women the women the D ofad they basically said look our father died because of his own sin and he didn't join the group um that gathered together against the Lord in kak's assembly so in the Hebrews noem they gather together against hem and also in verse 27 I'm sorry it's 269 that's number uh 10 on the sore sheet where it's speaking about um Das aam The Chosen congre they incited against Moses and Aon in the Assembly of korak it says when they incited against the Lord so in Hebrew in the last two words on page five the last two words on it's on the top of the page that they um as we said they conspired they incited against hem from where do we know that though the question is so very nice the verse says it but where do we know that they actually did it so it says in kazal in ST hedin 110a which is a very interesting idea is that where is it on the sore sheet number 12 that anyone who is anyone who's arguing on his R Who disagrees he's it's as if he's disagreeing with the so let's look in the English how they translate it RDA says anyone who disagrees with his teacher now there's a way obviously you don't have to agree you have to ask rabbi how did you come to that conclusion help me understand okay that's uh that's called with respect so it doesn't mean disagree it means when you're really arguing with the rabbi to the point where you're not going to give in it's ego and anyone who disagrees with his teacher is like one who disagrees with the divine presence as it says by Dav which we just read numbers 269 where they strove against the Lord now the truth is the dispute was with Moses and it wasn't against the Lord so the to the to the Torah says they strove against the Lord but really was with Moses so there we learn that if you go against the your rabi it's like you're going against God and another example R son of rabina says anyone who initiates a quarrel and mea with his teacher is like one who initiates a quarrel with the divine presence as it says in numbers 20:3 uh describing what happened at the May Reva that says where the children of Israel quarrel with the Lord but the quarrel was with mosha so you see if you argue with mosha it's like you're arguing with the Lord and therefore the principle of now neveress this it itself poses a problem because why is it that if you argue with your Rabbi it's like you're arguing with the I get that you want to prove this but how do you know this from where do you know this from how do you know what you know you know what K's claim was that how we normally say God is the first cause everything emanates from him there korak's claim was the universe came first and everything emanates from the universe it even proceeded that it's the nature it's the essence of the universe that has to exist because it existed it never it was never created it always was in fact that's what the philosophers the ancient Greek philosophers say and in fact that's what most scientists said up until about 200 years ago that there're always was there never was a big bang There never was a Creator I'm talking about the ones who were anti- God the ones that didn't believe in God they believed that the Universe always was and the reason why K it was necessary for him to carry this message was because this strengthened his argument against God and against Moshe because what was his claim his claim was by saying as we know so in verse three if I'm not mistaken where do we find it on the swore sheet um number 13 right they assembled against mosha and Aon and said to them you take too much upon yourself but then they said for the entire congregation all are holy and the Lord is in their midst so why do you raise yourself above the Lord's assembly now try to understand what he's saying that God is in the middle not at the head and you claim you know you're so Godly and you follow God why are you not even following God God's in the middle meaning we're all holy but you want to be at the head you want to raise yourself over us even God doesn't do that according to their thinking so let's see how the clear explains that one V what was on his mind to say was the following that according to K that there is no advantage or power to anything that was created on anything else just like his logic would dictate according to him that there is no precedence or kadema you know coming first by God over any of his creatures or or any anything in creation and that's why it says in the verse God is in the midst right you would have thought that God would be fitting to be at the head but not in the middle but that's what the verse saysa so what K was basically saying see the verse itself teaches and admits as if you could say that God has no pref um you know kadema there's nothing unique or special or first about God so how much more so we're dealing with you Moshe and Aon you're why are you putting yourself above God doesn't even do that okay the last part it says that Moses right Moses says to them I'm sorry right in the morning God will make known look at number 14 on the sword sheet it's chapter 16:5 says he spoke to korak and to all his company is saying in the morning God will the Lord will make known who is his in other words in the morning that's what we're going to focus on God will then make known right it's going to either open the mouth of the earth and they're all going to die but God will make known it's going to be clear in the morning who is the co and who is not okay low maybe we should look at the ra the Rashi on that real quick in number 14 mid midic interpretation it says in the morning not tomorrow the morning why is it could have said because it's a few times it says it says in the morning I'm sorry it says tomorrow but here it says the morning so Moses was saying to korak that hasem assigned boundaries to his world see you want to you want to remove God from the picture you can't there's too much order in the universe he assigned boundaries to his world and as if Moses says to him are you able to transer morning into evening can you like switch nature how's it possible that is how how is it possible for you to undo this right it says in the Torah there was evening and there was morning and God separated so too the Kashi says Aon was separated in order to sanctify Hashem so back in the CLE car it's as if Moses was saying are you able to switch are you able to cause a a switch a chaos in the world everything is very orderly as it says in Genesis chapter 1 V first it was evening then there was morning God made boundaries he created these boundaries and he separated day and night so too it's very important just so too God God separated the nation of Israel from the rest of nations of the world so too he separated Aron this is Moses's statement when he says in the morning now we don't understand it yet he says the anyone who is intelligent will be confused or be in Wonder regarding this illustration what exactly is this illustration of evening and morning doing here what do we have where did that come from Ella so you know what happened the CLE car is claiming that what kak is doing he's actually arguing on the basic principles of reality or the basis of reality right you have order there's order there's principle of law by saying you know what the world came first that's what K's saying it's unbelievable what K is saying that everything that happens is just by random right that's what I think and I could be mistaken the theory of evolution according to Darwin was that everything is bikra everything is called Rand it's called random mutation Randomness happen St accidental freak accident that's what b mikra means and if that that's the case k is asking mosha if I'm telling you K is telling you that everything is random so who are you to tell us that one person should be above another person so Moses answers him Moshe from your very complaint from your very claim there's the proof itself and this is really should be underlined right that's called Randomness means Randomness does not take place consistently over a long period of time if it's an accident it's an accident and yet what we see is every day right you can almost predict it that the sun will rise in the east it'll rise at what time it'll rise so there's a tremendous amount of consistency within this Randomness that takes place over a long period of time therefore it's notra it cannot be random even our own eyes see you're just a human being and you're not all powerful and there's no way you could even negate or confuse the Seder of creation and if that's the case it's not accidental it's not happenstance it's not random this is the way God created the world so to God came before all of creation it's hasem he created and he chooses who he wants to give honor to and he also decides how he wants to divide up and and limit whatever it is in creation uh create borders right he gave day the 12 hours we call sunlight and to Israel I want you to turn to page 's see it's a um chapter 26 19 in Deuteronomy it's the last Source on the source sheet God says regarding the Jewish people in Hebrews that God placed you Supreme over all the nations God separated you the Jewish people over all the nations so that you may have a praise a distinguished name and Glory so you'll be holy people to the Lord your God as he spoke and we see from there that it was Hashem who can do that therefore just like he can do that he gave this special unique status to Aon and that should be enough to basically shut up korak but this is what Moses responded to him this is the response that we have to give people that we meet um who want to argue with us it says you have to know how to answer an aporus you have to know their arguments and this is one of the greatest arguments of the secular or of what they call the atheist today and we have to know that most I'm going to say most I'm going to say it most open-minded scientific minded you know uh people actually come to the conclusion that there's just way too much order in this world that it could be random therefore I think in in college they call it the uh the watch like a watch maker a theory that if you find a watch there had to have been a watch maker it couldn't have just randomly fell in pieces from some asteroid and these however 100 different pieces are just so synchronized that it's going to tell exactly the same time every every minute of the day right a broken watch can tell the time twice a day correctly but we're talking about a working watch a watch that you found that works you know that someone made it so too you see the world it's just amazing you know that there is a Creator will continue then next week next week's paraa want to wish everyone number one KES KES happy 4th of July it could be the last anyway we want to wish everyone a a good life and we'll see you next week with [Music] [Music] oh
