Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Overview and Review

it's been one week since I got my hands on the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy watch 6. so how's it holding up after a ton of use what have I liked and disliked well dang fella you sure got a lot of questions today first off let's talk about these specs and ordering options for the Galaxy watch if this is your very first time hearing about it the Samsung Galaxy watch 6 comes in two flavors the classic and the uh the regular I guess besides that you also get a choice of sizes bands and can choose to go either Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and cellular some of these different colors and choices will cost more or less and add or subtract time to your delivery date the version that I purchase is the regular Galaxy watch 6 44 millimeter with LTE this version comes in a price of 379 dollars however I didn't actually pay that much because like I mentioned in the Z flip 5 video Samsung has a pretty robust trade-in policy but they can also have combo deals that you can get if you buy certain items together so I personally paid 190 dollars for my watch because I combined it with the trade-in and the combos you also have the option of going with one of Samsung's offer programs educator military first responder Etc and potentially saving more for whatever price you pay you get a ton of cool specs and features that I'll overlay on the screen right now I'm not diving too far into them because really for watches and a lot of tech coincidentally specs don't really matter so the very first thing that I've liked about this watch in that more than a week of use is the price I really like that you can save a ton of money on the watch as part of a promotion but also as part of a combination being able to get a Cutting Edge watch for half off when you upgrade your phone is a really nice deal it was also a big chunk of the reason I decided to do this whole switch to Android for 30 days experiment oh if you don't know that I'm normally an Apple user but I decided to lock away all my Apple stuff for the past month and stick strictly to Android and Windows for the past few weeks this whole experiment cost me about 300 out of pocket because I combined the phone watch tablet and earbuds together while trading in an iPhone the next major thing I've liked is the display after spending my whole life using circular watches my brain had convinced itself that square watch faces made sense and it was don't worry about it Gary it'll be okay team let me tell you after only a little bit over a week of using this watch I have missed having a circular watch this design so much it just makes sense not only for the watch faces but for how a watch feels on the wrist the Christmas and quality of the display has been awesome I've gone on several runs a hike and many days in the office and I've yet to have a problem seeing what I want or tapping buttons or icons which I used to have problems with on my smaller Apple watches this is just a gorgeous design which when you widen that aperture to the rest of the watch and not just the display is actually the next thing I've liked this feels super premium seriously everything about this feels like quality the buttons are great to press the glass back feels awesome against my wrist and even though I normally prefer cloth wristbands I really like the Silicon band and how it feels it's just so comfortable to wear I cannot say enough good things about the build quality here and I think that's very impressive because I doubt everyone is paying full price for this watch I mean we talked about all those discounts and that I only paid half of it at the top of the video I really thought this would not be nearly as nice when they so easily offered it to me for half off also this analog looking watch face is literally and I mean that without any exaggeration this is my favorite watch face of all time I might keep this watch and not go back to my Apple watch Ultra solely because I like how this looks so much I am not kidding the body design though does lead me into the first thing that I've disliked in the past week though and this is probably a me thing and not really the watch's fault but after years of having an Apple Watch I really miss having a turnable crown dial now I haven't had a lot of operating system issues we will talk about some of those in a little bit but I do wish they'd figure out some way to put a dial on the side it can be kind of a pain in the butt to scroll through the menus when my hands are sweaty from working out back the positives and the rest of that user experience I really like how easy it was to get this synced and up and ready to go with my Samsung phone I'm sure Android or at least this Samsung users out there are already experts in this but it was just as easy to get going as my Apple watch all you have to do is work through these Samsung wearable apps on your phone I've been using the Z flip 5 and it's lightning fast I actually like that the wearables app is a thing because it's the focal point for not only the watch but my headphones I think Apple could take a note and make a full-on wearables app for iOS because airpods are great until they aren't but back to how easy it is to work much like the phone this is just easy to use in general like I said back in the design all the apps are easy to access you get a wide variety of pre-installed apps that do everything a smartwatch needs to do today Fitness tracker access to a digital wallet I can't go through everything today but there is also Google Play Store integration if you want to install more apps essentially you can set this up however you want and it's seamless enough to use that even as my first ever Samsung watch experience I had this up and running in no time but I did say I was going to have a complain about the user interface if I had one complaint about that operating system everything seems to take too many swipes or taps there is a lot of information and capability here that's good but there's also a lot of complexity and so for example to start a run at least the way that I figured out how to do it it takes one swipe and four taps for comparison my Apple watch Ultra takes one button press and I'm up and ready to go maybe there is a quicker way to do it on the Samsung Galaxy watch but I haven't found it yet no that's not a big deal but sometimes this can feel slow to use because you have to swipe and tap through so many menus to find what you want just because of how many things there are to do again it is a good and a bad battery life though has been excellent so far I've routinely gotten two days of use without really worrying about it at all Samsung's website so you can get 40 hours of use per charge and I think that's pretty accurate I haven't been doing anything too crazy with mine and it comfortably gets me through a day or two at the office without a sweat I've also really liked running with the watch I've talked a lot about its comfort and its screen already but specifically for someone that clocks in between 16 and 20 miles a week I really like the Samsung fitness app and the information it provides it shows everything I want without having to tap or fiddle with the screen in use Post run it has a nice little Pace screen and gives you coaching tips on things you could do to improve your running stride I'm kind of an old dog not wanting to learn new tricks so I have been taking those tips too seriously but it's nice to know that they are available at the end of this over week of use I've really liked the Samsung watch 6 like a lot of all the parts comprising this ecosystem I'm experimenting with I'd never used a Samsung Smartwatch before and I was pretty nervous I figured this would be the hardest part of the entire ecosystem to use but this is super comfortable it's very stylish and I got it for a steal of a price I'm seriously impressed and if you are an Android User looking for a smart watch I can easily recommend the Samsung Galaxy watch 6 but what about you have you had a chance to use one of these or any Android smart watches let me know in the comments below and click here if you want to see its perfect pairing the z-flip 5. thanks for watching
